I went shopping at Somerset Collection with my Mother-in-Law, and my husband's cousins. One of his…read morecousins wanted to go into White House Black Market to find a skirt she had seen in a magazine or something. While we were in there, I figured I'd look for a dress for an upcoming wedding in 2 weeks, as well as a Gala in October. I've heard great things about the clothes at this store, but I've never shopped here. The second I picked up a dress, I was approached by a salesperson. She asked me what I was looking for, and I told her. She asked my name, introduced herself, and asked my dress size. She told me she'd set aside the dress I had picked in a fitting room, and will pick up a few others I might like to try on. I continued to look around. When I went into the fitting room, the salesperson said she'd get a pair of shoes for me to try on with the dresses. Now, I understand what's going on here. I've worked in retail for years. I appreciate the idea of trying on shoes with a dress to get the complete look, and they're obviously hoping for a sale on the shoes w/ the dress. I didn't try on all of the dresses, but I loved the one I originally picked, and one that she set in the room for me. I also loved the shoes, of course. My mother-in-law thought they were a little pushy, but I get it. They did a great job. Staff worked as a team very well, and the customer service was outstanding. As busy as they were, my salesperson never abandoned me. Her sales skills were professional and personable, not fake and annoying. Normally, I want to be left alone when shopping & don't want to be bothered with annoying & pushy sales people. For whatever reason, I didn't fight it and let them cater to me. It was kind of nice! They provided everything I needed to complete my outfit, and build their sale. I walked in there without the intention of buying anything, and walked out with 2 dresses, a pair of shoes, and jewelry. I had a great experience and will definitely be back to hand over more of my hard earned money.

Chronic UPT (units per transaction) obsessives. So when my Mom suggested she, my aunt, and I try to look for a dress for my engagement portraits there, I kind of groaned. When I go shopping, I do not want to be bothered. Maybe this is from knowing what sales people are after - a bigger sale so their numbers look fantastic. I am not interested in helping a pushy sales woman build her sale, so we looked for dresses ourselves. I was approached, asked about what the outfit was for, and told them I was okay to look on my own. The sales woman took my dress and read my size and stuffed my room full of clothes. She also told me she'd be right back with pants. Not so fast. I asked her to take everything out of the room and told her I didn't need any pants. I came in here for one dress, pulled a few that I liked based on my price point, and would let her know if I needed any help. She huffed and snapped at me - she said she was trying to help ME. (She was really trying to help herself). When we finally did need help, she made sure to ignore us. My Mom had a concern about the dress but she just walked off while my Mom was mid-sentence. We got help from another sales woman who was less aggressive and ended up leaving with the dress freshly steamed in a garment bag. I try to avoid this store at all costs because I cannot handle rude, pushy employees who want to smother you with their "suggestions". I know it's her job, but what would have made her sale sweeter is if she offered us help when we needed it, not revoked her manners when we weren't going to purchase items of her choice. Great selection. I will return, but with headphones and little to no eye contact!

She refused to look up her rewards number to verify the purchase (so first of all, I lost a percentage of my money) and secondly, she held me hostage to purchase another item that day and refused to give me a merchandise gift card. I was so shook up by how badly I was treated (almost like she "caught" me doing something wrong), I was in no mood to shop. In all honesty, I picked out a few random things my son didn't need. I will never shop at Carter's again (or at least the one on Hall Rd.). I did call corporate, but not sure they were willing to do anything? I tried to verify the policies. In order to get money without a receipt, even if it's a gift, she suggests to bring in the person who bought the gift for you.....I thought that would be pretty insulting. Update: okay.....I emailed 6/21 and awaiting reply. Updated: I heard back very quickly from the corporate office and it was great to be heard! I appreciated their response!

Jeggings are jean leggings that are super stretchy feeling and comfortable- perfect for me. I usually do not stop in here because a lot of their apparel has the words Hollister written across it for $25-50, which is insane to me. I do not buy clothes to have the brand name written across in odd lettering. I stopped in for a comfortable $11 sweater my sister found at another location, and I was dissapointed to see they did not have it. I tried to get a worker's attention, but she was too busy chatting up her male coworker folding jeans. She saw me and ignored me, and I could not find any other workers on the floor. I decided to wait in line to ask about the sweaters that were similar to one I found in store - sadly they did not have them. I was still able to score a pair of jeggings and two plain shirts - one blue and one red. Oddly enough, the red one was $11.99 before sale and the blue $7.99. The guy tried to play it off as the red was "newer" which makes no sense because the shirts are the exact same. Even the original prices were the same - and I made him aware of the black being $7.99 as well. He told me that they were told to price it this way and could not change it. Sadly. I will include the shirts in photos- and I still bought it because I needed a red one. Oh well.

Then today I actually went into a store and held up a size one and it seriously looked like it was made for a 6 year old. So I grabbed a 3. Now the 3 fits like a 1. I got home and compared the two. They are THE EXACT SAME! It's not the numerical number that is the issue. The issue is the sizing keeps changing. A 1 this past year is now a 3. Why is it so hard to just keep things the same? Even their tops change in sizing but not nearly as often. Also, quality has gone way way downhill. Girls jeans have almost ZERO material. May as well just not wear pants!
