First encounter was only 1 star - - score updated after follow-up with the TRUE owner of this company - Jeremy. Update posted below initial review. In early September, and after speaking with who I assume was the owner, I was IMPRESSED!!!! He was responsive and friendly and he was helpful! I was even willing to pay the additional cost to give him my patronage (his quote was $50 higher than another). However, once his driver arrived, there was immediate turmoil. The driver never introduced himself, was very abrupt, but I thought, "hey, he doesn't need to be friendly to copy a key", right? Initially, he tried to up the price $100, but when I questioned that, he said he would call in to the owner and verify... Fast forward 2.5 hours, copy is still not made and he's going back and forth from his truck to my car with grumblings and cursing. I went out to ask if there was a problem and was told that my car was being difficult! Okay, sounds like a trade problem, right? So I ask if there was anything I could do to assist or if he would like a glass of water (think 2.5 hours outside). He gruffly declines and I go back into the house. Almost an hour later, he bangs on my door and tells me he's finished. He tried to push two very different looking keys into my hand and asked if I was paying in cash. I looked at the keys and asked him where my original was. He said it was broken and I wouldn't be able to use it anymore (I have a push to start key and fob). The original key was JAMMED into one of the new fobs and I asked about that - - he gave no answer. So I went out to try the keys and the door wouldn't unlock. I told him that I was not okay with the swap out of the keys and fobs and wanted to have my original back. He called the "owner" of this establishment and then handed me the phone. In the middle of my conversation with the owner, the technician snatched the phone from my hand and mumbled something into it and hung up. He took both of the copied keys from my hand and went into his truck. When he turned around, he had my original key and fob back together and he then went and unlocked the car. He handed me the original set back and said "here, there's your old key, we're done!" I had absolutely no argument with this outcome, but when I asked about the second key that he had copied, he handed me a circuit board looking piece of plastic and walked back toward his truck. I thought that was the end of it until he whipped around and snatched my hand, twisting my wrist and pushing me in the process! He said "that's $250!!" I informed him that I was going to call the police and he then sped out of my driveway, nearly hitting my car in the process. He left so quickly, he forgot the back doors to his truck were open and had to get out in the street to close them. I called the owner and let him know that I was calling the police and that there would be a complaint filed. The owner appeared to be remorseful and even offered to come out and bring the spare key (it was not the spare key) later that evening. He promised to reach out and obtain the actual spare key that was made and get back to me with it.... still waiting. **UPDATE** Spoke to the TRUE owner of Buckeye Locksmith (Jeremy) and his wife and they made personal contact in order to understand the specifics of the events listed above. Jeremy and his wife were extremely understanding and considerate. They made certain that I knew they would NEVER work with the "Kevin" guy again and that he would not receive any further jobs from their company. In addition to their guarantee, Jeremy assured me that he would come out and replace the key that was never retrieved and in doing this, would ensure that if there were any other keys out there, that they would be erased from my vehicle's internal computer! While the initial interaction with Buckeye Locksmith (more accurately, their sub-contractor) was frightening and unprofessional, their follow-through was definitely reassuring! I would definitely recommend JEREMY as a professional in the business! read more

I was all set for a cross-country road trip when my keys stopped working in my ignition. I couldn't even get the thing started. The towing alone would've put my wallet in the hurt locker, not even considering the incredible charge from any auto shop or dealership. The "local" locksmiths listed in my google search were really de-centralized call centers, but I was in a pinch and called several. One gave me a semi-reasonable quote and then no-showed/no called. Another one tried the bait-and-switch on me, asking for double the original price, and wouldn't even guarantee that it'd work. Another laughed in my face when I said I wouldn't pay more than $500 and told me I was living in fantasy land. The reason I'm airing all of my grievances is to illustrate how awesome Jeremy at Buckeye Locksmith was. From the start he talked to me like a real person and was respectful and honest. No selling, no tricks, no attitude. He made it out to me very quickly and did an excellent job for about half of what the other companies started at. He gave me a ridiculously high price because I think he new I was in a real jam. I didn't bite, I told him to leave & found my own company. There aren't enough superlatives to describe this remarkable company. They take pride in their policy of giving honest estimates- no bait and switch. They quoted a figure for rekeying 4 locks in our newly purchased home. Josh ran into plenty of trouble (broken key in lock) and what should have been a thirty minute job took three hours! I asked his help to make a key for my miata that I bought at the auction. He make the key ok, but he didn't put the lock back together, he said he couldn't and he still charged me for the full price. So now I have a key(with the wrong logo, mine is a mazda the key is ford), and a broken trunk lock which is very bad because anyone can easily open my trunk if they want to. I won't recommend using him. read more
