I went to 3 different hardware store and 2 other "minuteKey" before I was referred here. I am SO happy I was because they had the exact key I needed, they found it, cut it, and handed it to me in what felt like minutes. They are excellent at what they do! I highly recommend them! Their speedy and accurate service is so worth their price! read more

They will not help me access key fob system. Just gave up and quit responding. This is not helping us with employee access. read more

Fast and friendly service. They had to deal with replacing a new doorknob in a 50-year-old condominium. Zipf insisted on coming back until the job was 100% satisfactory. Their technicians worked hard, were always on time, and finally got the job done. Kudos to Katie, who helped make it happen. read more

Not great. I paid them a signficant amount of money to replace a lock, only for it not to work and their install caused damage to the door. When I called them for help, they offered to not charge for the labor but to still charge for a replacement lock that I'd already paid for. Not worth it. read more

I had used them once before to change the locks on a new house and every thing went very well but this time, when I tried to use them, I had to call another company. I scheduled the work but they didn't show up on time. I called but couldn't get a live person. I called twice, leaving messages but never got a call back that day or the next. I don't know what happened. I probably won't try them again. read more

the Zipf team found an obscure replace part for me and cut me a new key for a lock without any keys! Great service, quality products and awesome tunes! Highly recommend! read more

They discovered our problem was old batteries. We didn't know we had batteries or how to access them. They showed how to monitor and, when needed, to replace the batteries myself. Their price was fair. read more

I left two messages over three days and never got a call back to set an appointment. This company has good reviews but who knows? I hate to leave a poor review but just be aware that 24 hour service may not be a reality. read more

These guys are wonderful. We were having trouble with our 99 year old front door lock set. The Zipf guy came out, completely removed the entire mechanism (which was far larger than we had imagined), replaced some broken parts, cleaned and oiled it, and got everything working like it worked in 1924. All for a couple hundred dollars. read more

Needed a house key duplicated and had tried two different big box hardware stores who use the key cutting machines - neither worked. Went to Zipf who made a copy of the key which worked. Quick and efficient service that was actually cheaper than the big box stores. read more

always the best, most professional. No easy for us to get to, but they are nice and no nonsense. They know how to fix any lock I've taken. You always see serious commercial companies in there getting work done. read more

They were Awsome putting a new lock in a very old family slot machine Very helpful.

Very rude and unprofessional guys that work here. After all these years as I customer and that's what I get. Unbelievable read more

Horrible awful expensive! Trying to get a receipt for 6 weeks. Had to call. Over $400 to change a lock on a screen door. I'm out. Took advantage of an older person as far as I'm concerned. read more

This is the place to go to for all of your lock and key needs. Totally fast, courteous and reliable

Whatever key you need, this is the place to go. Lowes and Home Depot can apparently only do certain types of keys that they have a template for. But this place can do it all, and fast and cheap. So special keys will be anything that have a deep slit in it, like care keys and the like and really old buildings. Plus they have a lot of other things for locks and keys as well. Bought some pretty cool key decoder thingys. So if you need keys or locks done go here read more

Pretty cool 80s vibe going on inside. Got my key made for very cheap and it was done very quickly. Glad to support local small business. Definitely recommend! read more

The incredibly old lock on our front door finally broke. Called and they offered to come same day! (next day worked better) They called ahead and made sure they had all the right parts and showed up on time and got the lock replaced quickly and very well done. They were by far the friendliest people I've dealt with in a long time!!! I will definitely call them again if we never need. read more

I needed some keys and I tried another company first. I drove there for nothing because there wasn't a business their. So I came here to Zipfs & they provided great service, they were polite & very helpful. If you need a store you can go into, come here! read more

Such a bummer that this place isn't more clear they don't serve car locks. I was incredibly excited to use the good neighborhood locksmith to build keys for my car. The operator said they don't do that. I found someone else, and that store did great. However even they said they thought this store did car keys. Oh well. Just FYI anyone looking. read more

solid locksmith....they cut keys correctly the first time! #supportsmallbusiness #shoplocal

I called them about a Schlage strike plate. They said they have them. I asked if they would check to make sure they had this particular one, if I gave them the part number. The person gruffly replied "We're a Schlage dealer. I guarantee we have it.". So I drove there, and they didn't have it. They said they could order it, but I would have to pay freight. I try not to run to Home Depot every time I need something, preferring to give business to locals when possible, but not when they are jackasses. read more

I spent months trying to find a shop that could make a backup of my Yamaha motorcycle key before finding Carl Zipf Lock Shop. Home Depot? Forget it. When you walk through the door here you realize how much knowledge and professionalism our country has lost through big box stores like Home Depot and Lowes. The employees here know their business and know it better than anyone else around, period. Until we invent something better than old fashioned keys and locks, this is the place you should go. read more

Excellent! Can cut a key even for a very old desk drawer, they get the work done quickly and for a fair price. Key works like a charm!

I went to Lowe's and Home Depot and a minute key kiosk and could not get a copy of my key made.. went to Carl Zipf's and have my key made in less than 30 seconds! Great service! read more

great people, i took my ignition on my 2006 Honda shadow and they were able make me a new one. They gave a great quote and it ended up being even cheaper. They also gave me a estimated time and it ended up being way quicker! Im very thankful. read more

Needed a new key for an old safe as the only 1 I still have was bending. Not wanting to get locked out if the key deforms more. Or even worse breaks off in the safe's lock, I came here. The wait time to be served was longer than I anticipated. Small shop and few actual employees to assist customers. New key works good though. read more

Great service. If they don't have it or can't do it, I doubt anyone else will. Easy parking.

Hired them to come out and replace a front door lock in a 4 unit condo. They sent someone out who gave us a recommendation and we went with that at a cost of $900. The interior handle came off one week later. They came out and fixed it, and it fell off again the next day. They refused to fix it again as they said it was a defect in the product and we needed to contact the manufacturer. They were the ones who chose the product, why recommend a crummy lock and charge us $900. The previous lock had been there for 15 years without a problem. This company sucks and I would never use them again. We are going to take legal action against them. read more

So much of life depends on the right key. Carl Zipf's is one place you can go where the key will always fit. I like this lock shop because it is easy to get to. Ample parking, central location and the shop only does locks and keys. So much easier and reliable than trucking it to Meijer's or a Home Depot. Plus, as earlier mentioned locks and keys is all they do so they always get it right. When house-sitting I accidentally lost the key. After breaking in to the house I unscrewed the deadbolt and brought it to Zipf's. Not only did they make me another key, they made it the same color and scuffed it up for me. I returned the key to my friend and she never knew how truly irresponsible I was. Zipf's also sells cool little safes and lock boxes. I bought one that looks like a book to hold my important documents. The service there is always fast and no key is too challenging. I have never had to go back because a key never fits. Zipf's will always make sure you can get in. read more

I called this company because they were the original company that changed our locks when we bought our house. After a attempted break in (which was unsuccessful,) I contacted them again to add additional features (brass plates) to our door fames. Not only did I schedule with them, but sent them pictures of the frames to make sure they could do the work. However, when I called them on the said scheduled day, the locksmith was sick! He didn't call me, didn't tell me not to take the day off, NOTHING. I'm an attorney and can't just take off when I please. When I called them to find out what was going on, after Mark the locksmith responded to me stating he was sick, Buddy, presumptively the office manager, let me know that they may be able to get someone out here today, but they would not be sure they could do the work. Wow! I don't know what world they live in, but I live in a world of responsibility, tight schedules, reliability and professionalism. Do not use this company. They are unreliable and unprofessional. read more

I have used this company as my go to for many years - recently had keys made here. Have never had a "bad cut" resulting in a key not functioning. However when I needed to discuss a lock set for a new and to be installed garage entry door - bad service. The employee I spoke with just wasn't good on the phone. Didn't have any technical knowledge of locks and deadbolts "Grade." At the end of day - we were unable to even get together a price for a single product. He kept saying he needed more information to price. I just think he didn't want to be bothered. read more

If you need anything key related. This is the place to go. I needed two ignition keys for me and my wife's vehicles. At the dealer it would have cost us almost 600 dollars. It's damn hard to find a place that will cut and program the keys. I got them here for under two hundred total. I know it sounds like a lot but these are ignition keys. One for a Mazda and one for a Malibu with the chips embedded and programmed into them. I had both done in about 30 minutes, programmed tested and working. Staff is friendly and the olderstyle business feel is a nice change from these cookie cutter generic new stores. read more

I called to schedule a rekeying of my office. The young man who answered the phone was somewhat knowledgeable until I asked about keypads.
