This is the BEST little coffee shop! It rivals those that might be found in Madison. The coffee is…read moreroasted in house and much of it is organic and of superior quality. I always get cold brew, which has a wonderfully full taste and doesn't have that burnt flavor like the beans offered at inferior coffee spots. I absolutely love that they have coconut milk, which is rather unheard-of in most places. I can get my coffee here just as I would make it at home, which is made with Two Rivers' house-roasted beans of course! I do not however, have iced coffee ice cubes at my house as they do here. Um, AMAZING!! Talk about going the extra mile for their coffee people! Beyond the excellent coffee and accoutrements they have here, the place is tastefully and minimally decorated. It's perfect for bringing a friend to chat with or your laptop to get some work done. The best part: it's located in historic downtown Portage and is family owned and operated. It's owned by the nicest young couple of whom will be your friends in no time! These guys make it! Support this wonderful family and give the historic downtown your business by enjoying an absolutely superb cup of coffee! (Or three if you're anything like me.)

The barista jumped up when we walked in and greeted us warmly The almond joy is sweet, my husband said it's good. The cafe au lait is very weak and desperately needs another shot of espresso. The fact that it taste like just steamed milk instead of espresso with steamed milk is disappointing. It's seem like a nice place but I wouldn't be likely to return

I am newer to the area and was near this place. I could smell the coffee from the store! I saw…read morepeople either going in or leaving with a cup of Joe. I just had to drop in and check them out. Inside the store I always check to see if it is clean and this place definitely was. We all have gone to places where we regretted it or saw nothing but a mess. This is not that place. Very clean on the inside. The people at this place where sipping on their beverage and they all looked content. I don't check the menu items over well. But I think they have bagels available and scones or muffins. But again- not 199% positive on that. When I went to this place I wasn't planning on cooking but then I could smell the coffee outside and hadn't had any coffee yet . I had a schedule to keep so I just walked in and got an iced cup of coffee. I feel like ai didn't over pay for the beverage. It was a decent sized iced coffee. The taste was great. I love supporting local and noting against bigger chains but it's just nice to know there are people starting up a joint and trying to provide for themselves and their family and make their mark in this world. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. So if you're in the downtown area, definitely visit them. I am guessing some of the businesses downtown draw in people to the downtown area, but also there's at the courthouse next door and they do a farmers market, so just make it part of your visit. Drop in, get a cup of Joe, or a nice tea, and then go about your day.

There is an older gentleman working the register who has consistently been very rude every time he…read morehas taken my order. This last time, I asked for a caramel macchiato and he said to go to Starbucks if I want something ridiculous like that. For anybody that hasn't worked in a coffee shop before, a macchiato is simply the espresso layered on top of the milk instead of mixed in. Yes, the exact same as a latte, just not mixed and usually has a little extra espresso. So if you can make a latte, you can make a macchiato. If you don't know what that is or it's not on your menu, that is literally okay, you can just say that nicely instead of snapping. Also, purely in my opinion, if you work in a coffee shop you should have some knowledge of the product. That's pretty standard for any workplace really; if you work there, you should at least be familiar with the product you work with. I've had negative interactions with this gentleman enough times now that I'm just going to avoid this shop going forward. I think they moved his shift to afternoons, but I just don't even want to take the chance of it being him at the register anymore. I'm not going to be snapped at for ordering a coffee.
