STAY AWAY!!! In the past year, I have experienced more Buck Lake Ranch than I would wish on my worst enemy. I witnessed a run down and mismanaged campground on the verge of being shut down when I was introduced to Buck Lake Ranch a year ago...then a wise management hiring decision led to a quick, and much needed, turnaround with the maintenance and general upkeep of the property. With that, came a turnaround in the campground community vibe, structure, and involvement there at Buck Lake Ranch. It was becoming a nice family friendly get away spot with an awesome sense of community amongst the campers. Unfortunately, all of that has quickly dissolved under the recent management changes there at Buck Lake Ranch in Angola, IN. There have been frequent police presence with the homeless and drug addicts they have invited to stay there recently. There has been a camper on the lakefront for a long time in complete disarray and looks abandoned...Buck Lake Ranch recently had the Humane Shelter come and remove very large dogs from living in the same camper unattended, owned by one of the current Buck Lake Ranch management. There have been numerous electrical and plumbing issues at the campsites. The latest Hippie Magic Festival this weekend is usually their big cash grab for the year and this year's attendance was noticeably less than it was the previous year of both campers and vendors. I've witnessed overflowing septic tanks throughout Buck Lake Ranch and would consider it a health risk to handle anything to do with their sewage ports. The state should probably should be called to do their own soil samples around the campground soon to dispel my concerns about ground saturation of sewage at the campsites. I wouldn't want my, or anyone's, family exposed to it. When camper's issues have come up lately at Buck Lake Ranch, it's not met with the professionalism and consistency of the previous management...but instead you're met with unwarranted hostility, and possible other issues, from the owner and his female friend/campground manager. There are people in the world that just want to do good things and see people be happy and succeed and then there are individuals who are driven by greed, ignorance, and most of all...ego. Buck Lake Ranch is no longer an enjoyable campground to visit and I predict will probably shut down within the year. Very sad thing to see, wish the best for the campers that are leaving there very soon after so many years of visiting. I would suggest that the female manager at Buck Lake Ranch get better educated on business management, take an adult class in education and life management, settle your legal issues, ask your alcoholic ex to stop stalking campers and sleeping in the woods at Buck Lake Ranch (it's weird), and learn to act like an adult who is control of their emotions. I can't say much to the owner...he knows EXACTLY who he is, what he is and what he's doing. Very disappointed. Stay away from Buck Lake Ranch....find a safer and more enjoyable campground to take your family :( read more
