Just like its counterpart travel plaza across the road, this is a great pit stop for travelers on…read morethe Indiana toll road. This is named after the legendary Indiana children's author, Gene Stratton Porter, while the one across the road is named after the also legendary Indiana war journalist, Ernie Pyle. They are both identical inside. There are a number of popular food options inside like Dunkin and Popeyes, a 7-11, clean bathrooms, and plenty of travel brochures neatly arranged on shelves. The pet area is a little small and the gas prices are usually a couple cents too high but the Gene Stratton Porter/Ernie Pyle travel plazas are worth stopping at.

This review is for the food only. My wife really liked her chicken tenders and tots. The tots…read morewere crisp and crunchy with a meaty middle. The chicken tenders were tender and moist. The outside had a nice crunch and seasoning - very tasty! The side of Mac & cheese was very creamy. You get lots of delicious cheese sauce. You might find yourself mopping up the bottom of the cup lol. The sauce is a bit bland despite all the cheese ooze. I added black pepper frequently and put the Mac & cheese over the top. The wings were really good. There was ten large wings in the order. They were fried with a nice crisp but not crunchy. The chicken was cooked perfectly. The wings was bathed in a bourbon BBQ sauce. I think it was just poured on versus being baked on. The sauce had a very mild BBQ taste with just a bit of spicy heat. The sauce did have a hint of bourbon style flavors but not have predominant. There was plenty of sauce in the bottom of the dish to add additional flavor to the large wing.

I'm extremely disappointed and increasingly concerned after the recent announcement that the 2026…read moreGuest Chef Series has been canceled. We have invested over $4,000 in dinner tickets, along with a $600 membership, based on the clear expectation that these events would be honored. We are now being told refunds will only begin after the property is sold, with no defined timeline. That is not a reasonable or acceptable plan given the amount of money customers have already paid. (100 memberships were offered @$600 a piece) What is even more troubling is that Farrand Hall continues to actively promote and accept payment for upcoming community dinners, while simultaneously stating they do not have the capital to fulfill existing obligations or issue refunds. It is very difficult to understand how new payments are being accepted when prior commitments cannot be honored. At this point, customers deserve: * A clear and specific refund timeline * Immediate communication on how and when funds will be returned * Transparency around how current and future payments are being handled Farrand Hall has built something special over the years, which makes this situation even more disappointing. But transparency, accountability, and doing right by customers should be the priority right now. I hope we see more responsible communication and action very soon.

My family stays at Sunset Cove every summer. We have a lot for our camper that we pay $1400 a year…read morefor, $200 for a dock, and we also pay for electric. I enjoy staying and relaxing and being out on the water. Marble lake is a lake that's part of a series of channels and lakes and that's one of my favorite things about this particular area. As mentioned above there's a pretty nice price tag on what we pay and because of that it would be nice to see the money that so many are paying for go towards upgrades in the resort. Better restrooms and showers... more full hook ups in the camper area... heck even new playground equipment... throw us a bone!! For as much as lot rent is as well as paying for our own electric on top of that this resort has to be pocketing a lot of money and I would be thoroughly impressed if we start to saw some, *any* kind of upgrade in the resort. Anyways the resort is usable and not by any means in bad shape. I enjoy spending my weekends here and don't have many complaints.
