Not what it use to be. Service stinks. Workers plainly goof around and talk out loud to each other. Must be more than 10 workers and they're still slow. My last order I paid for beef schwarma and got the rubbery chicken. It's a shame I use to go to the one downtown. Thumbs down. read more

Great food, customer service is hit or miss. Portions are smaller and prices went up slightly throughout the years. Received better service for dine-in as opposed to carryout at ALL Locations. Still worth it, lifelong customer here read more

This is for a web order from the new location right by the Hospital. We placed the order for delivery (cost $12 extra) to the hospital. Delivery went well overall. They missed an item on our order. While I understand mistakes happen it is really frustrating that I paid a considerable portion of my total for delivery and Bucharest didn't bother to double check my order. Knowing that I can't just run back in to have it corrected. When I called to let them know an item from my order is missing, the lady who answered the phone asked me if I want to come get it. Seriously? I paid for delivery, I'm at the hospital, so do you really think it's reasonable for me to come get it? She said there is nothing she can do if I don't want to come get it, I have to call Door Dash. I didn't order from door dash, I ordered from Bucharest. Door dash didn't make the mistake, Bucharest did. read more

I've order take out from this location a couple times now and so far they haven't disappointed. The food is good, the timing is typically OK (not waiting too long). The people seem to be nice enough. Their Chicken Shwarma's are on point if you ask me, and my wife really enjoys their grilled chicken bites. read more

Called placed an order, they gave me the prices and everything on the phone it was a man. I go in the cashier goes the man left for the day, we don't have any order for this. I request to talk to this creepy manager who acts like I never placed the order and lied to me and said we don't have a man answer the phone. That same man I had to repeat my order 3 times to make sure he got it right. I showed the manager the phone call duration and the number was for his location. He goes we can make you another but I wait 40 min . Then why did I call it in? Then he accused me of calling the wrong business. Very slow for an express location. We came here around 2:00 PM on a Sunday for lunch. There was nobody else there and it still took 15 minutes for us to get our food. I also asked for no onions on my sandwich and good thing I am not allergic to them because it came with lots of onions. But the sandwiches at this location are noticeably bigger than the location by LCA. read more

"Some people don't like Bucharest because they claim their garlic is too strong but that's like saying you don't believe in God." Like everyone else that loves Bucharest, I was thrilled when I found out there's one right by me that delivers via door dash! Yes, it is life changing moment for some of us, but the honeymoon phase is over and the cracks in our Bucharest relationship are starting to show. To mend my tastebud wounds, I hope Bucharest will look at opportunities to improve the quality of some ingredients and create consistent 5 star product. Shawarmas are always....mostly always....on point. Stuffed with meat and garlic goodness from top to bottom it's simply a masterpiece. Bucharest shawarma is their signature item and my personal go-to. Get one every time as well as a lamb or beef shawarma for added variety and to snack on later. Bucharest's garlic spread is usually pretty strong which I don't mind, but there was an order within the last month where they went little over heavy on the garlic as the spread was much more powerful than usual. The taste of garlic went from savory to overwhelming and the garlic aroma/taste singed like warm shot of fireball, not in a good way. The vegetables for their salad needs to be cut up a lot better. The cucumbers, tomatoes, and green peppers were like GIANT chunks. Each piece of vegetable took up almost all the real estate in my mouth and I felt like I was taking bites right out of a cucumbers & green peppers. Need bite size vegetables: thinner and smaller cucumbers, smaller green peppers, tomatoes are ok because they bleed too much. I know it's just a one-off issue but I had a tomato that tasted rancid today. Can't fully complain because it looked perfectly red and normal. Wasn't until I bit in that the juices contaminated my wellbeing. I love you guys and you're simply the the best! Just concerned and don't want these one-off problems become a standard, all love. P.S: My Billy and I thank you read more

We tried this location last night for dinner and the food was delicious. We went to one of their locations in Detroit a couple years ago because we heard they had "the best shawarma in Detroit," and that was proven true based on our experience. This location in Royal Oak definitely upheld their reputation because the Bucharest shawarma sandwich that I had last night was outstanding. It cost $5.95 and it came with plenty of fresh ingredients-cabbage, tomato, fries, pickles, & garlic spread and it was bursting with deliciously marinated chicken. We purchased two orders of curly fries and those were delicious as well. My wife enjoyed her chicken shawarma sandwich, but it wasn't the best that she has ever had. Your best bet is to just stick with the Bucharest shawarma sandwich. We got cheese quesadillas for our kids and I thought they were good, but the combination of feta, asiago & Muenster cheeses weren't a good fit for children. They had a nice crust on the pita bread and there was plenty of flavor for my liking. We picked up our carry out order around 5:30 PM and it was ready when we arrived. The place was clean and the employees were polite. We shall be back. read more

Would love to review the food at this place, but at 1:45 pm on a Saturday, doors are locked although I see people in there eating. Hence, this review relates to service. Knocked on the door and was greeted by a flustered young woman who asked if I had a carry-out order? No-I'd to order at the counter, please. Her reply (delivered with an eye-roll) "we're closed!" Mmm. Customer service training is needed here. read more

I tried Bucharest for the very first time about a week after this location opened. We had family in town and didn't feel like cooking, so we decided to try it out. We ordered 3 shawarmas (1 chicken, 1 beef, 1 lamb), 3 shawarma sticks (1 chicken, 1 beef, 1 lamb), 4 sides of hummus, 2 orders of pita, and a fattoush salad. The shawarmas were so delicious and had a generous serving of meat in them. The shawarma sticks were also good and again had a good serving of meat in them. They were basically like a shawarma but just without lettuce. The fattoush salad was nothing special at all, it was kind of a waste and I wouldn't order it again. The sides of pita came with 2 whole pieces of pita each, and their hummus was great. Less than a week later I got takeout again for dinner and got all sticks, and fries. The fries were great and a good portion size. I also got a side of garlic sauce because it is super cheap and delicious! My only complaint is both times I have ordered pickup from them, they have mislabeled my items. The first time I ordered, every single shawarma was mislabeled. We could obviously tell which was the chicken, but had a hard time telling the beef apart from the lamb (the lamb is MUCH tastier!). The second time, I asked for no tomatoes on one of the sticks. It was not labeled, so I had to unwrap each stick, and surprise surprise, each one had tomatoes on it. Both times, I placed my orders via their app and picked up in store. The first time I did not have to wait and just grabbed it. The second time I had to wait about 5 minutes for my fries, but it wasn't bad. Overall I think their food is delicious and will definitely be back. They just definitely need to step up their labeling game. read more

The manager at the Royal Oak location is a creep! He refused to accept that the order was screwed up. Tried to stare me down and continued to ask if I really purchased the item. Umm, he was holding the receipt. Total CREEP. Now, whenever I go there and 'IT' sees me, the creature is on the staff to make the items at half the ingredients. Smaller EVERYTHING, half of the normal portions. What a poor representation of a business that I have been stopping at for 15 years. Please clean up the tool that feels intimidating a paying customer is acceptable. Make the drive to Detroit and get the service that they are known for. This idiot will bankrupt Royal Oak. read more

I already carry out everything went smooth got there it was ready. I ordered a vegetarian shawarma. I got home opened it up, it was so big I couldn't even wrap my mouth around it and it was open on both ends so it was like oozing out everywhere I had to ditch the bread. What a mess. There's also french fries in it tomatoes cucumbers feta cheese some kind of peppers and onions. Tasted good but it's too messy to eat so there's no way I'm going to order this again. read more

I got the chicken shawarma and it was not my favorite. First it had lettuce and tomato on it which I wasn't a fan and it was not grilled. Also the garlic sauce was really bitter, and I only ate 2 bites of it as it was too bitter. I also ordered the hamburger and my daughter really liked it. the portion sizes are generous. read more

Good food, order takers need better attitudes and be more respectful and pay attention

Food is okay but not as consistent as the Detroit location. Picking up a carry out or those I see doing DoorDash is horrible. The staff ignore you, have headphones on, talk to each other. When you walk around the corner with a pick up no one asks how they can help you. The customers just stand there frustrated read more

Hate to bag on a local place but Maaaaaaan.... Been to the Detroit location many times and have been been very happy. (Sad when 90% of my carry outs nobody cares when you say "no pickles" and put them on anyway) Tonight we had Woodward corners and it was ok. My daughter and wife had the Bucharest shawarma and I had the lamb. The ladies were pretty jazzed with no complaints. (Except my fries were tight but were pretty cold...carry out FF, what can you do? lolol) My problem was the lamb. Tasted like old nasty goat, VERY gamey and stringy with tendons, etc. Absolutely disgusting. I am burping that shit with the onions all night and I want to die. I love lamb, nasty old smelly mutton is another thing... First time there and it is pretty confusing. You walk in and there is an ordering counter....and to the right (I assume) is the pick up line. No one tells you what's up, where to go, how can I help you, jack shit....not a word from anyone... I tried to figure it out, it took 15 minutes for an employee to actually talk to me (well, actually, I had to grab her when she was running by) and was handed a sack from the order line(?) (I ordered and paid online) Really crowded on a Sunday early evening, no social distancing but everyone had masks, maybe 75% had them over their nose. (staff and patrons) Parking was a little "squeeze", can't imagine what it would be like after the pandemic. Most likely stick with Mr Kabob or falafel king for a while. read more

I am in the service industry... so when I give a bad review, it's because it was pretty bad. First off I'd like to say the Bucharest in Detroit has always been great! However, the new Royal Oak location had horrible service and cleanliness. Everyone had their hair down. Everyone was doing multiple things from taking out garbage to working the cash register to cooking. Without changing gloves. Being nice to the customer is the easiest way to give a business a good review. Not this group... she asked my name and just walked away... not a "it will be just a minute, let me go get your order". That's how easy that is! Please check your employees Bucharest. read more

Review specific to the Livernois location: Great food and they know it. They know you're going to buy their food regardless of the fact that they have the rudest employees in the city. Their attitude basically says "Here's your damn food now get the hell out". I've been going once a month for years, this isn't a Covid thing, it's just how they are. read more

How are you gonna charge $5 for something called a house salad and it only have onions, tomatoes, cucumbers and feta cheese. No lettuce, which is what usually makes a salad a salad. Also the "house dressing" was literally oil. Nothing else mixed into it. I'm actually really upset that I paid $5 for 2 raw vegetables ( I don't like tomatoes or feta). Waste of my money and time and I couldn't even eat it. Not going back. read more

Bucharest Grill - House "salad" - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Royal Oak, Michigan

I just ordered delivery through DoorDash. When I opened the bag, everything smelled great and was hot. Unfortunately, the taste wasn't so great on both the lamb and the chicken shawarma wraps. The pickles tasted fishy: I don't know how else to describe it. I've had a ton of shawarma and usually enjoy the taste of Mediterranean pickles. Something was off with the taste. The lamb was really greasy too. The curly fries and garlic sauce were on point, hence the 2 stars. I guess I should've stuck with Boukies. read more

I am a big Bucharest fan so I was super happy to hear about this location as it is 5 minutes from my house. Our first order was a Door Dash delivery. My wife had the Bucharest Shawarma and and I had the lamb shawarma. Both were very good. We shared a hummus and it too was very good. They also have great salads. Unfortunately, the one we ordered wasn't in the bag. Going to chalk it off as early mismanagement. We will be ordering more here so I will update as we go. In the meantime, welcome to the neighborhood Bucharest Grill! Glad you are here!! read more

This place is a blue collar take out place in a rich area. You will not get your ass kissed. The food speaks for itself and I love it.

I just got the food 12 minimum ago!!! And it seems like someone just poured a bag of salt on everything! The Quesedilla, the chicken shawarma and the fries otherwise, it would have been delicious! It's was neat and looked good but the saltiness was just too much! I probably had my sodium serving for the day and I'll be just jugging water and I don't think I'll be taking the extra sandwich to work! :( . If it wasn't for the salt you'd get 4.5 starts for accuracy read more

This location should be ashamed to have the Bucharest name. So inconsistent and just not the Bucharest grill experience I am used to. Agree with another reviewer that the lamb in the lamb shawarma was subpar. Lots of chewy meat and gristle. I love the idea of Bucharest, the rest of the sandwich components are great, but please solve the meat! I'll drive the extra miles to Balkan Grill for a doner instead of this place read more

I will never order from them again. Basically, I placed an online order for 12 items and only received 9 items.
