When we got home and discovered that our car didn't include a charging cord, we called and spoke with the salesman. His story changed from "it's in the trunk, just look under the spare tire," to "they're not included when you buy the car new," both of which were blatant lies. His final answer (on yet another phone call) was "you bought it as-is, you're out of luck." Got it. This place has changed. Maybe new management. I had my car serviced today. The bill was $1,100. No complains about the amount. The car needed a lot of work. My complain is how they now handle credit cards. They did not tell me before the work was done that there is a 3% fee for using credit cards. Also, there is no line item on the bill for the credit card fee. I have a credit card receipt that does not match my bill. (Not good if I'm audited.) I asked if I could get a new bill with the credit card fee listed so it will match the receipt. I was told the ticket was closed and there was nothing they could do. We unexpectedly lost our car to a car fire so we have the misfortune of shopping into todays supply chain shortage. Its pretty competitive for current inventory and we finally found Buchanan Kia as one of the few Kia dealers that wasn't putting several thousands of dollars of a "market adjustment" on top of the MSRP. When we called in mid-october the sales person, Tiffany Haines, and the sales manager Tommy Perry, told us there was a car matching our needs that was in transit and expected to deliver the next day. They said they couldn't take deposits or make holds on any vehicles but that we could make the drive over in the morning to complete the purchase when they reopened for business. Tiffany informed me that there would be a required additional fee of $1795 that included a car coating for paint protection and some special wheel inflation. We werent thrilled about paying for extras we didn't need, but we felt a little more assured since we were receiving some type of service in exchange for the additional required costs vs paying needless marked up prices like some other dealers. We called first thing before our two hour drive up to confirm our appointment and were told to our surprise, the car was "no longer available". Apparently this dealership did indeed let people make deposits or take holds somehow because the car was marked as sold before they opened for business and it had even arrived to the lot. We were frustrated but told that a similar vehicle was expected to arrive in early November. We didn't want to lose another car from under us so we called Tiffany daily to confirm its arrival timeline. We asked again if we could put a deposit down to secure it but were told no. On 10/28 we saw the car we were promised on the dealers site (finally with a VIN) marked as "in transit" so we called Tiffany to see if we could just buy the car sight unseen and pick it up when it came in to avoid having the car sold from underneath us again. When preparing the papework Tiffany said the mandatory paint protection package was now $2795 and that they have "reached their sales goal this month and already got their bonuses so they didn't want to sell it until November 1st so they could get more commissions next month". It was a crass request however we were fine with waiting a few days. The fee for the required paint package had now changed a significant amount to 2795 though, so we did ask if they could honor the original fee of 1795 since we had lost out on the first car they promised us through no fault of our own. We were told by the manager that they'll sell it to someone else with the new markup cost if we don't buy it and they didn't need our business. We are upset that this dealership doesnt keep its promises, is taking advantage of desperate consumers in a bad situation, and is arbitraily changing the price because they know they have a sale. There are other car dealers out there that are more worthy of your business. read more

June 18th was date of car failure - Not sure if all the folks at Buchanan are always unhelpful, but the service staff must've had a bad week or bad day (which is no excuse btw, I generally try and give benefit of the doubt to folks in customer service); that said, the service staff was unwilling to work with us on getting an issue (they could've caused) resolved. They performed a routine service in April (our 1st time going there - I spent $300) and we had a follow-up issue 2 months later (last week). Not sure if the issue stemmed from their work on the car, but we got no formal diagnosis, were not offered a loaner vehicle, and were told they'd go into the engine and find the problem when in fact, they did not do that. Not sure why we got contradicting info there, but it would've been nice to know they did their due diligence. I'd like to add that our car has never had such problems, but I digress. Bottom line, they charged us (AGAIN) for another oil change 2,000 miles sooner than we were expecting, thus, we've paid for two oil changes in 2 months with our normal driving/travel patterns. I understand the nature of our issue is considered 'wear/tear'/routine maintenance, but to not receive an explanation or diagnosis of the problem from the staff is unacceptable. Not to mention, they seemed to shortcut us by not actually looking internally (so this could potentially happen again). They essentially put a band aid on what could be a bigger/hidden concern. I had to go to my trusted Jiffy Lube to find out the car was completely out of oil and that the car was burning it - luckily, the engine and components didn't lock up while my pregnant wife was driving while in route to/from daycare with my 3 year-old (perfect ingredients for a potential lawsuit if you ask me). So, I called for a Tow truck (waited several hours) to drop-off at Buchanan so the car wouldn't lock up on us while dropping it off ourselves. We weren't offered an appointment until 6/28 by the way. Oh, and did I mention that my wife had to borrow my car in the meantime (no loaner). She proceeded to get a bent rim from a rock that fell off a dump truck on 795 while we waited for the Kia to be 'fixed'. So now I'm without my wheel/rim and will have to pay $160 to get that fixed by Rim Renew...all because Buchanan just didn't do what they were supposed to back in April... Why no one at Buchanan offered any sympathy over the overall inconvenience of the situation and having to return so soon for service, not to mention the potential catastrophe that could've happened because of this, is beyond me. We were not offered an oil consumption test, a VIN check for any outstanding recalls etc. They just advised for us to come back in 500 miles, probably so we could pay them for the same service, again...I can assure you we will not be coming back. I'll make sure others with a Kia/Hyundai or any other car considering going to Buchanan don't waste their time and travel up to Westminster to be disappointed by this lackluster organization and its disgruntled staff. read more

Len, the general manager, lied to my wife and me and created problems for us. 1) Len shared the reason my wife and I were going to have an APR close to 5% in spite of our 820 credit rating was that a "PHEV" is not a plugin hybrid. When questions that PHEV means plug-in hybrid electric, Len shifted the answer to be that it was due to high demand even though the Kia web site listed 0.9% APR financing available for the plugin hybrid. 2) Our salesperson, Trent Thomas, told Len that we canceled our deposit Monday, 3/25/19 morning and Len then sat on the cancellation and refused to return any phone calls. We are now working with our credit card company to void the transaction. I strongly recommend not doing any business with a dealer that handles business this way. read more

DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE HERE! I purchased a used vehicle on Feb. 22nd. A week later the emergency break light kept coming on so they looked at it March 8th and said it was a recall issue, was safe to drive, and take to Hyundai Dealership in Hanover, PA. I took it to PA and the dealership fixed the recall but after driving it the emergency light came on again. When I went back to dealership in PA they said the recall is fixed got the light to turn off and I left again. However, the light came on again so I went back to where I purchased the vehicle on May 22nd and now they found it needs a break pump, want to charge me over $2000 to fix and suddenly it's not safe to drive! I just bought this vehicle from you and now they refuse to fix it or even return my calls. The have told me someone will call to discuss they thought they took care of this! I now have a vehicle unsafe to drive that I have a car payment on and no way to fix! Do NOT take your car here. I've taken my Kia here several times and they've spiked up prices and even told me the complete opposite thing was wrong with my car (always get a second opinion). Last time I took my car was for a recall which they refused to fix even though I have paperwork. Ever since I brought my car home it will not hold a charge for me to realize they broke a part of my battery and didn't tell me so now I have to replace the battery. When I initially picked the car up it was dead and they acted surprised but they most likely knew why. Without question he went and grabbed the keys and let me check the vehicle up and down for everything and anything. Afterwards he scheduled a test drive. Never felt pressured in anyway. The sales process was smooth and comfortable. Patrick was great! After the sales process I went to Tiffany for financing. She was amazing! Very professional and organized. They did not disclose that the car I bought was in an accident. When asked to see a CarFax, I was shown some other site on a laptop and was told that the car had no issues. Sadly, I trusted the salesman and bought the car. That night there was issues with the taillight and wind noises coming from the passenger side (how did this car pass state inspection?) They fixed the taillight the next day. I was told to call back on Monday, to see if the windshield was covered under warranty. I did and told them about the headlight which was now having issues with condensation. I was told it's not covered under warranty and that it was my problem. I literally bought the Thursday. Today is Monday, in a few days the car is having a ton of issues. This place will take totally advantage of you. read more

Unfortunately, there is not an option for 0 stars! I had my Kia Sorento serviced under warranty for a new engine. It is going on a year since I first had my car serviced and I STILL have not been compensated! After taking my car to them once a month for 3 months they finally agreed I needed a new engine. When I dropped off my car, I was told no loaner cars were available and if I paid for a rental car, I would be reimbursed. Buchanan Kia had my car 4 months and never made any attempt to communicate unless I called them. Every time I called, they were rude, unhelpful, and acted as if I was bothering them. The service writer, Melissa, I started with was somehow promoted to service manager during this time. Once I finally got my car back, it was over 3 months before I learned she submitted my paperwork for reimbursement incorrectly. At this time I was told I would have to start the entire process over again MYSELF, with no help from anyone at Buchanan. After another 3 months, I found out that Buchanan had given me the wrong information as to how and where to file my claim, and once again had to start the process over with no help from them! When Kia Consumer called to speak to Melissa, she used the excuse that this occurred due to a change in management when she was the management shift! She was my original service writer when I took my car in to be looked at a year ago in June and is now the service manager. Shouldn't any service writer or service manager know how to submit paperwork for warranty work considering they do this on a regular basis? I have spoken to the general managers, Tom Perry and Keith, and the Operations Director, Greg Kennedy, who each told me they would look into my situation and get back to me immediately. It has been 5 months since I last contacted anyone at Buchanan and not one person has called me back to address the problem or follow up as they said they would. If I could give a zero I would. My story with thwm started in August. My husband and I needed a new vehicle and fast as his work Van went up. I knew my credit would be an issue but tried anyways. Well it was never explained we incur a fee for bad credit if a lender decides to finance our vehicle. I had out a $2,500 down for a car listed at $8,600 online (bringing the total to $6,100. However, trying to seal thw deal and get out of there so they could close up shop I didnt realize how much I just agreed to finance. When i got home something didnt seem right so i decided to look at my paperwork again, I financed close to 11k for the car. I was pissed, but another gentleman explained what happened and offered 2 solutions- 1 i could back out of deal or 2 keep the car and accept 2 gas fill ups and 1 oil change for free. Needing the car i decided on the 2nd deal as I didnt have time to shop elsewhere. That should have been my que to get out. Fast forward to now April. Im really not happy with the car for various reasons. I loom up my credit and realize my score had gone up close to 80 pts, I Figured why not go try and talk to them again. The salesman originally who sold the car to me, told me to come in on saturday being it was the last day of the month he could do more for me. I arrive start filing out paperwork again. Waited to be told since i have 2 car loans I would now need a cosigner. Odd but I called my husband he came down and filled out a app for a cosinger. He leaves, I get told 30 mins later that the people the finance department need to talk to at the banks arent there Saturdays and they would make the calls on Monday. I waited annd tried calling 4 times throughout the day monday. Guess what both the sales person and the finance manager I dealt with never once returned my calls. So another guy who had no idea about what was discuused tried to help. Thats when I said, Ill be up tomorrow (today) to get all my bank statements they needed cause Ill be taking my business elsewhere. Moral to the story, if you have bad credit dont bother going here, they rip you off. And then attempt to try to right it but turn around and ignore you. They said they fixed it yet the light came on a few days later, after they 'fixed' it three times we said we wanted out that they had lied to us. They decided to do it as a trade-in for a different car. Love the new car but I have now been called back twice because they 'forgot' to have me sign something. The service department at this dealership was the worst I have ever seen in my life. Upon arrival I asked about the discount coupons availability I was told there were none. I then asked about military discount and was told that it was a mirror seven dollars off the service for an oil change and tire rotation and was quoted $55 for the service. I left the vehicle to be serviced and while I was gone I went on Buchanan's website and found A coupon for oil change and tire rotation for $17.76. When I return to the dealership the service manager gave me attitude and eventually honor the coupon. I couldn't believe the terrible way he spoke to my wife over the phone. After I told him the service has been awful he said to me "well you don't have to bring it here for service you can bring it to any Kia in the US". I don't know how often they get customer service training but it's safe to say they need a refresher course. I brought my brand new 2021 car in to have windshield replaced I came to pick it up and there was glass everywhere. I left it there to be cleaned and again glass everywhere inside and out and scratches all over my roof and a chip in the paint. 3 times I had to come back before it was actually clean and I found a half hearted attempt to fix the paint chip and told them that's unacceptable and needs to be fixed properly. They have avoided me at all costs and have yet to fix my paint PROPERLY! They rated my car at near perfect either they dont do everything in there power to know what happen to a car or just accept the free report. Idk. however apparently my car has been in 2 accidents that another dealership made me aware of. I searched the vin number before driving 2 hours to purchase it. Also they will illegally temp register your car to another state even thou you were never planning on living in another state just to get you to leave with the car. I wasnt even gonna write this cause its from last year. Also dont think you will get a 2nd key. Dont think when you go back that you will recognize anyone due to the outragous mangt change. Also it might take a month for them to mail your paperwork. And i had one guy complain about me to me through text. When he wasnt on top of his job. Like i didnt already pay my deposit and had my 1 key. I had to drive 2 hours back to confront the situation. They caved on the 2nd key but they conviently drove my car into p.a. To do it. Then a month later they key stopped working. Guess its from all the accidents. Hope this place fails. I decided to stop in and take a look. Rebecca P. helped me out. Told me about the vehicle i explained my situation and she was very helpful and understanding. She was not pushy at all as she knew that a new vehicle was not something that I absolutely needed. I had the weekend to think about it before they started working numbers.
