Alissa did a great job on my hair service. I typically go to the stylist that I've been going to for the last 20 years, but she was booked up for the next few weeks. I wanted to get a haircut before vacation so I booked Alissa based on the other great reviews I saw of her. Service started with her listening to what I wanted and giving me a relaxing shampoo with heated towel and scalp massage. I did the hair treatment service because I've been dealing with dry hair lately. I learned that she goes to many hair shows to keep up-to-date on current styles and really has a passion for the field. Alissa was so friendly and personable and my cut looks great. read more

People who have time to complain about someone specific on Yelp has a lot of time on their hands to just be mean. People in this line of business get paid on commission, I'd be mad if someone asked me to work for less than my salary. Great haircut every time, reasonable prices, friendly staff. What's not to like? Easy to get to from Gainesville or Bristow Virginia, very accommodating for walk-ins, or call to make an appointment. Like having an "easy button" for a haircut and style. I first found bubbles when the styltest a couple of doors down had no one who wanted to do a man's haircut. Tired of places that don't take credit cards but are happy charge you $3 on their ATM to get cash to pay them? (they make that profit btw). Tired of places that won't let you leave a tip on your credit card? At Bubbles you don't even have to wait for that silly credit card chip to wake up, just use ApplePay and with a tap and a "bing" you are out the door. So this place and especially the stylist, Donnee does not like feedback coz if you provide honest feedback, then you'll be attacked in a snide way. Please stay as far away as possible from this place! This salon is a scam. I booked an appointment for my daughter on October 22, 2022 and chose "ANY STYLIST" and the charge for this said $48. When we walked into the salon, we were greeted by a stylist named Donnee and she said she will charge us $67 for the haircut. I explained to her that we chose any stylist and the price quoted was $48. To that she said I am a level 2 designer and can't cut for the price her own salon quoted us. She was extremely rude in saying she has earned her level, etc. My daughter had an event to attend and we had planned this haircut and I explained Donnee this. She started haggling with the price and said I can cut for $57 and I found that so unprofessional. I found the way Donnee treated a client was extremely rude & unprofessional. I don't know why it took me so long to write a review about my hair love for Sara and Rabia. I've been going to Bubbles for well over 3 years (every 2 wks) now and I can't say enough about my hair squad lol. Both keep my hair heathy and beautiful. I have naturally curly hair and usually only go for a blow out (cause that's how my baby likes it) and every now again a few curls. OMG Rabia's head massage is the bomb when she washes my hair sheesh that woman is good. Anywho I always get a friendly welcome from both of them. My dissatisfaction with this business was not with the haircut I received, but with its dishonest practice. First time customer and I scheduled an appointment for Shampoo and Cut with "Any Stylist" through the website. Price was $36. Upon arrival, Selda said she'd be taking care of me. She washed and cut my hair, then proceeded to dry it like other stylists usually do to see if there are any uneven ends. After finishing, we proceeded to checkout. She said the price was $57. I asked her why was I being charged $57. She said that the appointment had been wrongfully scheduled and her rate was higher than that because she was a designer. In addition, she had given me a blowout, because she "didn't know I had only a shampoo and cut, she didn't look in the system and assumed that I had a blowout too. Thus, since she gave me a blowout, she was going to charge me for it." She said that I had to pay $57 because that was the price for what she did. I cannot express in words how upset I was with this experience. This was my first and last time coming here. Such a dishonest and unacceptable behavior. I complained about this situation to Bubbles first, and never heard back from them. read more

If I could give this half a star I would. My stylist never introduced herself and didn't know what I was service I was in for. I told her what I wanted and that I only want a trim, no more than a 1" trim. I thought she understood that when I showed her how much but I guess not. Sadly under her own "judgement" she thought cutting 4" was okay. I was furious. Not once did she say a word or ask me during this process. Who does this and thinks it's okay?!? Then she got mad when I wanted my hair dried and curled (this was the service I booked). When I checked out there were multiple hidden fees because "it's an extra service, oh your hair was too long" excuse me? um this is what I booked so why add more. Pricing is crazy high already. My stylist was sweet but they're so unprofessional here and they cannot cut hair at all! It's so disappointing that I paid $30 (after a first time client discount, normally $40) for a haircut that was UNEVEN and instead of the original 3 inches, I walked away with over 6 inches cut off of my hair that I worked tirelessly on growing. My side bangs were choppy and looked like a 3 year took scissors. If I wanted a terrible cut, I could've gone to hair cuttery across the street for 1/3 of the price. Please don't come here. Not only that but the woman who made the call was utterly dismissive and rude. When I told her how excited my daughters had been to get their haircut and had looked forward to it all week she said "I am not here to problem solve but feel free to write a review"!! The woman who made the appointment was also completely zoned out and it took her fifteen minutes to understand how to make an appointment! I normally do not write reviews out of laziness, however, I felt that I had to share my experience with the community as I have been transformed by an amazing stylist named Selda. I came in looking for a change as my hair had been neglected for over a year (thanks to the pandemic!). She looked at my pictures for what I wanted in color and concocted a blend of hair dye magic. I was nervous, as I've always been prone to dye accidents, however, was shocked to find myself with the most beautiful hair color I've had in many many years. I was so in love that I told her to go for a haircut and to surprise me. Needless to say, it was also perfection. After leaving this phenomenal hairdresser, I was complemented by everyone and their cousin on how amazing my hair is. Even strangers asked where I went to get my hair done! I just moved to the area, but she has made herself a new frequent customer. If you're looking for amazing hair; look no more. Head on over to Selda's chair and prepare to be amazed. read more

Just awful. Made an appointment several days in advance and confirmed it. Manager called last minute and canceled without explanation. I called back to find out what was going on, and the person who answered told me I'd been assigned to a stylist who'd been out for two days. Instead of postponing or rescheduling me when they knew the stylist was out, this disorganized place waited until the very last minute, then canceled after it was too late to get an appointment elsewhere. When I asked to be rescheduled, the manager said she couldn't help. Incredibly rude. I won't be back. read more

I've been to this salon several times. I saw Tony twice and another stylist whose name I can't remember. Tony is good at hair cutting and for $40, I think the price is reasonable. However, I stopped going to this salon for several reasons: 1) EACH time I was there, I waited 20-30 minutes after my appointment time to see my stylist. By the time the stylist greeted me in the waiting area, I was told the reason for the delay was that "no one told me you were here." I heard that phrase each and every time. 2) The waiting room is awkward. You walk in the store and you are told to walk down the middle of the hair-styling stations and sit in this small cramped location that sits in between the hair-styling stations and the hair-washing station. It's an awkward and non relaxing set-up. 3) I once called to make an appointment and the phone rang 15-times before someone answered. I was so annoyed by that point that I couldn't follow through with making an appointment. 4) I called another day and got an appointment for the same day. However, within 15-minutes of making the call, Bubbles called me and said "how long is your hair?" then agreed I could still come in at my scheduled time. However, they then called me back another 30 minutes later and said the stylist was now running 2+ hours behind and could I come in even later. I cancelled my appointment at that time and said good-bye. All in all, I think Bubbles needs to hire better front desk staff. For $40, you can get a decent hair cut. But the customer service is poor which makes me not want to return there again. read more

I left feeling worse than I came in. My haircut itself was alright, but not worth the 40 dollars. Moon spent the whole time telling me my hair color was wrong, telling me I should get high lights, go back to my natural color (which would do what? I have my hair colored because I don't like my natural color, which I mentioned early on, but she just kept on going). I said I didn't have the time or money and that I was happy with my hair color, but she would not drop it so instead of leaving feeling confident I left with limp hair and feeling bad. One of the reasons I came in was because they had a sign saying they support the military and other families and with ID you would receive 20% off services. The only advisory I saw on the sign was that it may not apply to certain products. Cool. Well that's only Monday through Thursday. So be aware of that. read more

This place is beyond amazing. The stylist Chris T. is patient and talented. I have mixed texture hair that requires relaxers a few times a year. Based on the difficulties I've had in the past with other salons, Chris was able to come up with a regimen to make my hair be at its healthiest. I watch the other stylist, who see very informative, as well. They not only style, but educate with how to keep up the maintenance. There are very discounts available throughout the year, but even without them, the prices are affordable. The manager, Erica, is fantastic and understanding with addressing concerns or questions. I went to Bubbles on Atlas Walk Way and it was a first and last visit. Here's why. Well, Pros first to be nice.... Pros They still took my son after stating they couldn't find the appointment for him. Connie who gave my son his haircut, is very nice. Cons I was told that they didn't have an appointment for me, so they stated that I must have contacted the other Bubbles in Gainesville, and they contacted them, and they said no appointment was made for me. I showed them my phone with proof of the call, but they barely had anyone there, so they stated they could take my son, after going through all that unnecessarily. To get to the waiting area, you have to walk through the area where the stylists are working. Connie, the stylist did mostly what she wanted and used clippers 90% of the time. The cut looks lopsided, uneven, and just plain bad. My son, who normally is fine with all and any haircut, stated that he wished his hair was like before. I took a before and after picture, and his before pic was indeed so much nicer. Oh well. For $25 for kids, I would expect a decent cut at the least. This was nowhere close. My mistake for going. I have tried several salons in the Gainesville/Haymarket area and Bubbles in Virginia Gateway is the most modern, and their staff is familiar with all the new trends. I have been a customer of Linh's for almost a year now. She is always willing to spend extra time with me when I decide I want something new. I show her what I want....and it is done! I absolutely hate it when a hairdresser ignores your thoughts and just does what he/she is skilled to do. I have had waaayy too may Farrah Fawcett 'dos in my time...I am EXTREMELY picky!! The waiting area is small...however...I have only had to wait maybe once... definitely not a deal breaker for me. The salon atmosphere is comfortable and a mix of all ages. I went to Bubbles to get my hair cut, washed, and styled before catching a flight. When I booked the appointment, I made it a point to let them know that I had "textured" hair and I was booked with Tamara. She was very friendly and talkative which is the only positive comment I have. Prior to her doing anything with my hair, I told her about my hair routine, the products I used in my hair, and that my hair was very fine. Despite this, the put a lot of product in my hair and a ton of oil and grease. She worked with my hair as if she never styled textured hair before, which is shocking because she is black. I looked and smelled like I came out of a deep frier. I told her that I was not pleased with my hair and that I would have to wash it out and I was still made to pay $50. It took 5 vigorous washes to get all the oil out. Don't go to Bubbles. It's not worth it. If you do, do not book with Tamara. read more

Worse customer service I have ever received at a hair salon. I had a 12 O'clock appointment and walked in at 11:50, was ignored for a couple minutes and then a lady with purple hair (should have been a red flag- so trashy) who had looked at me when I entered and ignored my existence asked why I was there. I informed her I had a 12 o'clock appointment and she told me to take a seat. Already I was hoping she wasn't the one that would be touching my hair bc she was obviously had a bad attitude. She takes me to her chair and still in a bored/annoyed voice asked me what color. I showed her a picture of the color I have been dying my hair for YEARS, the color my hair currently is. It's a red color so it fades quickly, so I asked for an overall application. She informed me she wouldn't be able to make my hair all the same color because I had roots. I have been getting my hair dyed since I was 16 years old. The same color. I do that same thing every damn time. Never ONCE have I been told they couldn't dye my hair because it had been previously dyed. My roots are MAYBE 1 shade different than the color I dye, just less red. An experienced hair dresser uses a slightly different color on the roots or adjusts the timing of application or anyone with an ten minutes of customer service training would have reached a solution with me. She used a bitchy condescending voice the entire time and then let me walk out with no service. No apology no other solution. TERRIBLE customer service and inexperienced dresser. I will never go back. Update: when to Hair Cuttery in Haymarket straight from leaving and I got AWESOME customer service, not one question of push back about the color, she applied roots first and then combed it through at the end (duh) and it's all the same color and looks absolutely gorgeous! I saw Caitlin for the first time. Nice lady but didn't really know what she was doing when it comes to blondes and long hair. First off she took forever. 4 hours for a color and cut. That's the longest I have ever been inside a hair salon. Pretty much wasted my whole day. Wasn't happy about that. Second she turn my hair orange and she was going to leave it Orange until I said something to her. A real hair dresser would know to use a toner with out her client telling her. She told me my total would be 105 for everything which I was fine with that but then she kept raising the price since I have long hair and had to keep refilling the color. So I end up paying 135. I did leave her a tip cause that's how I am but she would of got a bigger tip if she knew what she was doing. I will not be going back to see her. read more
