I went there to get a shorter hairstyle from Selda and was thoroughly disappointed with what I left with. Along with coming in with a picture, I explained exactly what I wanted (minimal layers, I didn't want my bangs touched because I wanted my hair longer in the front going into an angle in the back) and the first thing she did was chop 2 inches off my bang, then added choppy layers. She completely ignored what I asked for because she kept insisting it looked good. I'm absolutely not coming back. read more

This was my second visit with the same stylist, and it went horribly awry. I asked for the same shape, with a bare minimum of a trim and a minor correction of a chunk of hair left longer on one side in the back than the other. (I suppose that chunk of hair should have been my warning sign and I shouldn't have gone back for a 2nd visit) I also specified that I wanted to grow it out on the sides because with the summer humidity my hair needed the length to curl vice frizz. Instead of a trim, the stylist cut a little, cut a little and cut a little until she left me with literally just 1/4 inch of hair on one side of my head, and it's shaped like a man's haircut. Then, there's no transition whatsoever to the longer side swept bang. On the other side, she left it in the original shape merely trimmed as I had asked. When you already have short hair like I do, an inch of difference from one side to the other is very noticeable. There's no where to go/nothing to do for a correction except cut it all down to 1/4 inch. As a 50 year old professional woman this lop-sided mess is impossible to carry off; all I can do is wait it out. This stylist, while sweet, doesn't do some of the normal things stylists normally do, like compare one side of the cut to the other. Looking back, I do think she realized her mistake because she kept trying to comb my side swept bang straight down over the hair hole she had cut by slicking it straight down. I have very curly hair, so of course this won't work at all. Unfortunately, I couldn't tell how lop sided it was until I got home and it dried. I wish I had never gone to Bubbles, especially for this second awful cut. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! I was a very platinum blonde and wanted to make my hair dark again to keep it healthy. Online their prices say 55+ for single color, so I had in mind spending around $70 including tip.. I was WRONG! I ended up paying a lot more to make my hair darker. The stylist was rude throughout my appointment and was not gentle with my hair. First she said she charges 75$ for single color then she added $15 for using toner and another $15 because she needed more color for my SHORT hair. Then she asked me if I wanted a trim because I NEEDED it (she NEVER mentioned she would charge $40 for this service until I went to pay)! I was fine with paying $75 then giving her a tip for my hair but when she added $40 I got very upset because she never said she would charge me for it... She spoke with her manager to see if she could charge me less for the "Haircut" she gave me but only dropped it down to $35 because she also shampooed my hair. Well when you do color... YOU HAVE TO SHAMPOO the clients hair!!! I am very upset with the amount I paid because the stylist also told me (when she was shampooing my hair) to come back to tone my hair again since the color will fade! Once I went to pay she was telling some other lady what to charge me for and did charge me 55$ for the single color but added $35 for " Shampoo & Haircut" $15 for toner and $15 for more color she needed. I think it was also fishy that she said she charges $75 for single color but the other lady rang me up $55 for it, I think this stylist just wanted money from me! She asked me during my appointment how much I would pay for my highlights and I told her $120 plus tip... I should have never told her! I've been to this bubbles for sometime but the past three visits have been bad. The last visit that my four year old had was very disappointing to say the least. He had long beautiful hair and we had a very simple cut in mind but the stylist completely messed up his hair. It was a total miss and we are pretty bummed about it. I wouldn't recommend this salon to anyone. If you want to waste 30$ and also deal with a horrible cut then go for it. read more

I would not recommend this place after having made an appointment 8 weeks ago when I called to confirm my appointment they told me the stylist was sick and wasn't coming in. This was 30 minutes before my scheduled appointment. Charlotte, is the most amazingly talented woman I know. She is dextrous, skilled and just a natural at her profession. So far I have no fault to find with her except that she is booked all the time. I am closer to two Bubbles Salons in my area. I like this Bubbles (near Wegmans) more compared to the one at the Dulles Town Center because its bigger in space, the stylists are better professionals, they don't try to sell other products, and they take the time needed to get my hair done. I find their pricing better as well but not sure if they are different. The overall experience however at this salon is definitely better. I always wait for an appointment which is sometimes difficult to get because they are so busy, but the wait is worth it. read more

Wanted to give my daughter a special prom hairstyle. She's got long, thick hair. Brought a photo in the week before the appointment so Britany could be prepared. On the day of the appointment, she admitted she hadn't learned how to do it so that it looked nice, and talked my daughter into a simple and not very elegant ringlet with tiny braids on each side. Until recently I had never had anything but a blowout at a Bubbles salon. I recently started a new job where I work out of two offices, one in Sterling, the other in Herndon. Not familiar with any of the salons in the area but deciding on a whim that my hair had grown to a sufficient enough length to rock killer ombre highlights, I decided to scope out reviews of local hair salons. To be honest, the Herndon location (Woodland Crossing) had the best ratings but they were booked for the day when I called on a Friday morning. I called this location next because it was close and I had gotten a decent blowout the week before. I'll spare you the details and just say that my stylist ended up giving me a dip dyed ombre which is so not the look I was going for nor was it anything like the photos I had shown her. After spending the weekend hating my refelction and the fact that I had spent 3 hours in a chair and dropped 150 dollars for it, I decided to give the salon a call on Monday . They were very understanding and gave me an appointment that day with Candice- their ombre expert- at no additional cost. Candice took the time to brush and wrap each piece of hair with precision and care. A few hours later I finally emerged with the beautiful highlights I was going for. Candice even gave me a complimentary deep condition and one of the best blowouts ever. I will be back, but only to see Candice :) read more

I made an appointment with Grace based on the reviews here. My salon was booked for three weeks when I called. I called bubbles and was able to get an appointment the very next day. The bubbles salon only has a waiting area of four chairs and people waiting with dye in their hair sit there too. So there is not much room. Grace did a good job. I need to get my hair layered and thinned out because I have so much. She spent a lot of time layering it and thinning it out. I was very satisfied with my cut. The cut cost me $55. I probably won't return because my salon is $5-10 cheaper and had a better waiting area. read more

Came in after a 7 months haircut free stint. Yes, my hair looked awful so really anything would have been better. Erin cut my hair. She laid out the pricing up front. Gave her recommendation and then walked me through EACH and EVERY step of styling so I could recreate her fabulous look. She even cut it a bit shorter at my request, no issues. She is fabulous, super easy to talk to and I could tell, really wanted me to love my cut even after the first few days. VERY professional and fabulous price. HIGHLY recommend her. Everyone at this salon is incredibly nice, professional, and before they offer additional services, they let you know what the cost will be. I've been in and my daughter has visited as well. We're both very impressed. The receptionists are especially helpful and nice. Each time we've visited they seem ready for us and even offer a beverage and magazine while you wait. In January I had my hair cut and colored at this salon because my regular salon had to cancel due to a sickness. The Bubbles stylist commented on how poorly my hair had been cut by my regular salon and proceeded to convince me to take what I thought would be about two inches off my length. She proceeded to cut about five inches off my hair and colored it a much darker shade than what I requested. I thought I could live with the color and my hair would grow out...no big deal. However, When I washed my hair the first time at home I noticed how poorly she had cut my hair. I had jagged, uneven layers around my face. The cut was awful! So ultimately I ended up with a shorter cut, that was jagged and uneven, in a dark shade. Sadly, she also left the color on my hair too long which has severely damaged my hair to the point that my hair is splitting 4 inches from my roots. It has been months since this visit and my hair has still not recovered. The Bubbles stylist destroyed my hair. read more

I was told to try this Bubbles out and when I sat down the stylist said she listens to what the client wants. I asked for a little more than an inch. As she was cutting I could tell she starting cutting a lot more length off. My mood started to change because I've had someone mess my hair up before and I had a bad feeling it wasn't going to be what I asked for. So I mentioned it, asked her if she was still only cutting the 1-1.5 inches off, she assured me she was. She ended up taking off 3 or more inches and boy was that a major difference considering I had hair to the middle of my back before I went into the salon. I hate short hair and that's exactly what she gave me. I started bawling in my car swearing this is why I hate coming to salons to get my hair cut. I'm so disappointed and it really ruined my already bad day. Not going back here. Wish I would have trusted my gut an just told her to stop before she started cutting off my beautiful long hair. I'm sure everyone else has had a great experience, it really sucks that I didn't. :'( I AM STILL CRYING!
