As soon as I walked in the doors of this place, I noticed that a lot of the animals looked sickly. Birds that were extremely stressed and had plucked their feathers out, animals that were overcrowded in small cages, etc. but I was determined to find my forever pet here, being that they had a good selection. I didn't see a rat that I wanted so an employee brought a tiny rat from the back of the store (he wasn't on display like the other rats) and I instantly fell in love with him. He was a mostly hairless Rex rat and he was sweet. We brought him home and set him up in an immaculate, large cage and he was doing okay. However, I noticed that in the following days, he was having breathing issues, was rubbing his nose and face constantly, etc. so I did some research and it seemed that he may have a respiratory infection. I made a vet appointment, but before I could get him there, I just found him dead in his cage. I AM WRITING THIS SO I CAN SAVE SOMEONE FROM BEING DEVASTATED AND HEARTBROKEN LIKE ME. THEY DONT HAVE A WARRANTY ON THESE SMALL ANIMALS FOR A REASON. PLEASE DO NOT BUY PETS FROM HERE!!!!!!!

This is unacceptable for any product, especially pet food. When I returned it, I was only offered a refund or an exchange for the same brand -- despite clear concerns about a possible infestation issue. It was laughed about that, "this happens when we don't have climate control in our warehouse." No effort was made to offer compensation or a price adjustment if I chose to purchase a different line of dog food instead from this Petco location. I asked for a discount such as 10% off of our purchase of a different brand of food due to the major health concern surrounding Wholehearted, yet the manager was unaccommodating. This response was extremely dismissive given the seriousness of the issue and I will never be returning as a Petco customer.

Picked her up today, and this short, obnoxious associate stated they will not groom my dog again because, get this, "she lays down while trying to groom her." They also refused to do her nails for the same reason. I contacted a groomer in Cary who said they'd never heard of that as a complaint. Even though it is much more, I'll be taking my girl to a professional groomer out here.

Then we went inside and saw Guinea pigs, rabbits, and a lizard! Phenomenal educational opportunity!! You do need a reservation for the animal tours and they have summer camp so call Ahead to make sure it's available. Parking is in the lot.
