He has been practicing for several years and was recently named to the Washington Best Doctors. I am really pleased with the way he runs his practice, and with his view and approach to medicine. He is amazing with kids--friendly, quick, and my son really likes him (my daughter is a newborn and she likes everyone :) He is great about screenings and making sure, developmentally, your child is on track, but he does not intervene when not medically necessary. He explains everything to you in a way that you can understand but without being patronizing. Even though I was a second time parent with my baby, he still explained things in a way that made me feel at ease and "reminded," which is great because some people just expect that you will remember! Wait times are excellent. Maybe about 5 minutes or sometimes less. Also, he has individual buckets of toys for kids, which helps maintain the mess, and probably makes cleaning easier. The exam rooms are incredible. He has themed rooms---a firetruck room where the bed is a firetruck! There are orange cones, real vintage fireman hats on the wall, and little fire trucks and extinguishers for cabinet fixtures. He has a jungle room where the table is an elephant, and two new rooms that may not yet be finished--a train and a cafe. The technology is state of the art, and he tries to run things on an electronic health record system, which I LOVE! He monitors progress through an online CHADIS questionnaire, and keeps electronic records. He does print out material for you to take home, which is an important sign of a good primary care provider. We have never had an issue getting a sick appointment when we need one. He somehow manages to fit us in. Between two kids, this is really important. Also, his staff is excellent. His nurse is kind, sweet, and great with kids. On top of that, she is good and quick with the shots, which I really appreciate. Leslie, his front desk/office manager is quick, kind and efficient. I find that either you have a great doctor and an "okay staff" or the other way around. it is so nice to have both!!! Overall, you can't go wrong with Dr. Hirsch. I stayed because I liked one of the doctors, but after she left, I remained longer than I should have. Over the years, this fee increased steadily. At first, one of the justifications for the fee was "hazardous removal service," but that explanation later disappeared from their list of reasons. Even when my children were too young for school forms, they still wanted to charge me. If I were to attend today, that same fee would cost me $295. Beyond the excessive fees, I never felt that any doctor truly cared about my children. It often seemed like they were treated as just another number. To be fair, I left this practice over seven years ago, so perhaps things have changed. But based on my experience, I'm glad I decided to move on.

I found Coleman Pediatrics and decided to give Dr. Greenberg a try. So I made an appointment. Prior to my appointment, I stopped in to drop off my sons birth and health records. From the moment I stepped foot in that office, I knew I found my sons (hopefully) forever pediatrician. The office is very inviting and the front desk staff are very welcoming, attentive and caring. Due to the very young age of my son, we are almost immediately moved into a room to help protect him from others in the waiting room. The nurses care about all of the patients and ask how everyone is doing- not just the baby. They are gentle and use care when handling my baby with smiles on their faces! The wait between when we get into the room to when the nurse comes in is null. The wait from when the nurse leaves to when the Dr. arrives is the same. Never longer than 3-5min. even in the waiting room. At Coleman Pediatrics, you are not just another number. Dr. Greenberg not only ensures he reviews my sons chart prior to each and every visit, but if there is something out of the ordinary, he calls me. Not the front desk staff, not one of the nurses, but the Dr. himself! He actually cares- a lot. Even about me as a new mother. He always checks-in on me to ensure I am doing okay as well. One is about hand hygiene; I've noticed that hands aren't sanitized in the room before examinations. When I mentioned this, the assistant explained they wash their hands outside and then touch the doorknob, which makes me worry about cleanliness. There's hand sanitizer available in the room--using it would be a simple way to improve. My other concern is related to privacy during training sessions. When new tech or assistants are being trained, they sometimes bring in another person without asking for permission or introducing them, which could be a privacy issue under HIPAA. We've seen Dr. Uliassi who is super nice and very thorough. I was prepared for a meltdown during our first visit but Dr Uliassi made my daughter feel totally comfortable. We got through the visit with no tears even though she had to take two shots. However, unlike the small practice we were used to, we don't always get to see Dr Uliassi when we go to this office. On a sick visit we saw a nurse practitioner on staff and she was very knowledgeable and really took the time to exam my child and answered all my questions. So far I'm really impressed by the medical staff. The administrative staff however is another story. They're not rude but they're not exactly friendly either. I can put up with the attitude as long as the excellent level of medical care continues. Our previous pediatrician also never charged to fill out health forms but I think here they charge $15(?) I understand for bigger offices they usually charge for forms but still. It also took almost two weeks to get the forms back so if you need it for school/camp enrollment make sure you ask for it in advance. Also the office is in a big office complex. Parking is ample but you do have to pay. I think it's $1 for an hour and $3 for 2-4 hour on weekdays. I believe it's free during the weekend.

I always get an unpleasant feeling dealing with this office and try to limit my interaction to a basic minimum. I do not like changing doctors' offices but here there seems to be a strong case for that.
