However, if I could have a choice, I might've just rolled on by.... First of all, it's a motel, so I'm going to try to be fair here. I just am disappointed with the cleanliness of the hotel. We checked in and there were food crumbs scattered across the floor--- one of the crumbs even resembling a roach but I was too afraid to pick it up. The desk chair and desk were really sticky. The room itself, though listed as non-smoking, clearly had a smoker inside it before us... we had to keep the windows open at first! I gave an extra star because the internet was surprisingly more stable here than other hotels and also the shower head water pressure is pretty strong--- soo at least you'll feel clean/better about your stay? Idk.

Briar Laine house is beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We especially loved the spacious living room open into the kitchen. Perfect for a family gathering. And the game room is a fun space for all ages to enjoy with board games, cards and a foosball table. We really appreciated the extra touches like fresh towels and a welcome basket. There are hiking and walking trails nearby that range from easy and ADA compliant to hard up in the National Forest. There is also fishing within walking distance of the Inn. The kitchen utensils, cups, glasses, cookware and everything else, has not been replaced nor updated since 1984. You basically need to rent a uhaul and bring half of your kitchen, half of your linens, comforters, towels- just bring everything from home- DO NOT USE anything there. Drape the sofas, bedpost, use flip flops to shower, do not touch anything in shower, use disposable toilet seat cover. Just skip kitchen all together go out to eat. There are No lights on deck nor steps going down to lower deck; no lights on lower deck. So unless there's a full moon, you will basically need to bring flashlights, lanterns, solar lights, even a candle to light the way. The BBQ grill had used burnout charcoal from last renters. Couldn't open sliding doors facing the river at night because the screen doors are missing. The tv is BEHIND the sofa as if we have eyes behind our heads, and it is smaller than my computer screen. They offer streaming services- but when you open Netflix, they have created a profile with your name,in their streaming apps, without permission and it is impossible to log out of their streaming services in order to log into yours. So you are stuck with that. All 4 ceiling fans are very dirty, and with all the dust and dirt please don't forget your zyrtec. Bottom line for $145 - $165 per night, and having to haul everything that you will need- you are better off camping by the river, renting a cabin from another company or staying at a hotel. This people are riding on free natural views of the river and nature, while disgracefully renting out these cabins that are no better than camping under a bridge. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM; THEY OWN SEVERAL CABINS LIKE THIS ONE.

We still enjoyed ourselves. We ate out, we went to Luray Zoo, visited nearby stores, and spent a good amount of our time in the jacuzzi. The jacuzzi and zoo were our favorite part of the trip. The cabin was beautiful and clean! The beds were comfy, and there is enough space for a big family. The view is beautiful when looking from the balcony and jacuzzi. It was very relaxing. I am hoping to book again during a nice weekend with plenty of sunshine to do outdoor activities. I totally recommend these cabins!

Our room was excellent, clean, and comfortable and included a private entrance if needed. We loved Luray and we loved our stay. The price was very competitive to other B&Bs in the area, but I doubt any of them can beat our experience! I cannot recommend this place highly enough. We will absolutely be back!!!

It was his birthday and I called the owners to inquire about their add packages including the birthday one. Well they went above and beyond. The room as you can see in the photos was sweetly decorated, my boyfriend loved it! The room itself is great. We had a queen bed, a jacuzzi tub, electric fireplace and a balcony! A couple blocks from the Inn is a very scenic creek walkway. We did a few laps to soak up the beautiful weather we had over the weekend. If you are in the area definitely stay at the Inn!

Our room was not like the photos (definitely not fully remodeled) or luxurious. The bathroom had new fixtures and vanity but the tub was still old and kind of grimy. The window screen in the bathroom was ancient and hard to open and there were some sort of seeds or insect eggs all over the windowsill there. There were also dead flies in the front window, which could have used a wipe down. We had a 2 queen room and one bad was extremely hard and one was very soft. There were only 3 pillows on each bed so someone only had 1 pillow - not ideal with kids. Two of the towels in the bathroom were nice and 2 were pretty raggedy and thin. The size of the room was fine (only room for 1 small table, no chairs) but there was no additional deadbolt or slide latch on the door and that didn't feel safe, especially after someone tried to put a code into our door at about 11:00 one night. This motel is somewhat cute, cozy and quiet but still seems a bit run down. However, after driving around Luray, I'd venture to say it's the nicest of the roadside motels we saw. It has beautiful views of the Shenandoah's and it's very convenient to town and the park. It wasn't awful but wasn't what we expected. The manager Judy was very nice when she called to confirm our reservation and when I let her know the room smelled smoky. Be aware that not all rooms look like the photo on the website.
