The coins were not rare, unique, or collectible... so the value was only their silver content. Understanding that I should receive somewhere about 70% to 80% of the silver market value, I called a number of the businesses listed in the area to get a few quotes. The face value of my silver coins totalled $7.00 (55 dimes = $5.50, 2 quarters = $.50 and a silver dollar = $1.00 ... the silver dollar was old but in very poor condition). The total "melt" market value of the silver in these coins was $167.42 for 5.11 Troy oz of silver at the market price of $32.74. I got a number of quotes over the phone... rather than breaking down a quote based on the specific silver content of each coin, it seems the standard practice is to offer a multiple of face value. Most of the quotes were 16 to 18 times face value, which would have given me from $112 to $126 for the coins. I receive the best quote from Jim. Over the phone he quoted me a 20 multiple of face value, for a total of $140. Jim also bought a few other items from me that we had not discussed, also at fair value. A great experience for me. After the event, in which my entire immediate family and I attended - were about to leave as event was over. Because I'd known Addie for a long time, and to me it was more like a party get together for Steiff lovers - I wanted to pay my respects and properly say bye. She was at the time behind a table with a line of 15+ ppl waiting to pay for their items. I had bought one item that day. I was one of the first in line to pay - but Addie asked me to wait, and my little sister was with me at the time as well - in line. Addie said she "had something for you and your sister.". My father was in a rush to leave - but I waited patiently. Addie then handed my sister and me 2 boxes. I replied, "Oh no Addie, I cannot pay for these right now - I cannot take them.". She then replied, "No-it's okay - take it.". To which point, I accepted them as gifts and profusely thanked her. I was shocked but exhilarated. I thought maybe this is being for a loyal customer the last several years, creating a Yelp review for her and always purchasing Steiff from her for gifts, etc. Little did I know this was a way of coercing me to buying 2 items I was not ready to purchase and did not come to purchase at event that day. Very sneaky trick, and sales greed at it's lowest form. Needless to say, I've cut all ties with this business. Really sad because now I have to go elsewhere for whatever Steiff related gifts I now purchase - it could've been all with her business, but her shadiness made it all sour.

To my surprise, it turned out to be quite a nice little antique shop, filled with beautiful furniture and treasures. A Haviland china set was absolutely calling my name, and I deeply regret leaving it behind. I may have to return for it. I was also temped by a solid cedar Lane hope chest, (I have always wanted one)but I was without a truck/van, and I ended up leaving empty handed. If you find yourself in Isleton and love antiques, this shop is worth a peek!
