One memorable experience: After I experienced some jaw pain, I came to see her to check things out. My teeth were all fine, so nothing she could do, but she suggested I go to a RMT who specializes in intra-oral massage. I had NEVER heard of this before, but I went to the specific RMT she mentioned and it was life changing. Seriously. After just one session, my jaw pain was gone. I was so relieved and grateful! If Dr Lee hasn't suggested that, I'm not sure what I would have done.

My teeth cleaning done in 45 minutes with X-rays and exam but guess what was the billing -- exam, 4 X-rays (bite one), 3.5 units for scaling and floride coat .. when I argued that it's over and illegal billing, apparently Dr Lee made the staff bill template and it's set. Everyone must bill 3.5 unit of scaling along with other procedures as a must.. is it legal? Or over billing? Shouldn't be it as work and time needed? It's about making more money

My root-canal appointment had to be cancelled a few times, as I waiting for the Canadian Dental Care Plan Card Enrollment to be evaluated and for the Card to arrive by mail. Sydney, the receptionist was extremely helpful by reassuring me that I was able to reschedule without issues. Dr. Ros was extremely professional and my root-canal was not painful.

Her professional dental status is super high calibre, as she is one of only three dentists in BC that will have passed the Accreditation Exam at the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (her test results immanent as of the date of writing). She also holds an Associate Fellowship Certificate with the World Clinical Laser Institute, mentors at the Spear Education in Arizona, and is one of the few dentists in Vancouver with 'Premiere Provider' status for Invisalign Clear Braces. Now the previous dentist I had. They did text to communicate when I first signed up just before covid, but, either that employee did it on her own phone. or they stopped using the service they used to use to text me. either way. they would call me for appointments. and miss me as I was at work couldn't take the call. and when I called back it would go to voicemail. and they don't seem to email. so I got a missed call during work. and by the time I remembered about it and called back they were closed. couldn't recall if I had an appointment that weekend or not but I knew I had one in Aug...... decided I needed to find a dentist that texted emailed and actually answered their phones. so. why did I give them 5 stars when they told me it was 1 visit and now I have to come back for another hour of cleaning? the hygienist.... wouldn't budge. she told me it needed more than 1 hour cleaning. and she wasn't willing to sacrifice my teeth to accommodate my demands. she got receptionist in to talk sense in to me. and when that didn't do the trick they then got the dentist in. to talk to me. and finally I just agreed. NOT because they bully me, but because they cared enough to say NO, no we are not squishing 2 hours of much needed dental cleaning into a 1 hour slot. I am happy they cared enough to stand their ground. I really liked her cleaning pace. I didn't feel apprehensive because I could mentally follow along with where she was cleaning. she rocks! dentist was awesome too. came in. made sure I knew what the game plan is. when I come back again. and what we doing to make sure I stay on top of areas. Koodos to the guy who did my X-rays. it's not easy squishing those wings in there at just the right spot. he took his time. and it went well. I felt good I didn't feel nervous. To really capture my experience with Dr. Charmaine Fong at Aarm Dental I need to provide a little…read morehistory. I'm from Ireland. We all know the reputation those from the British Isles have for dental hygiene; I guess it's because, at least in my experience, the dentists aren't very good. During one visit my dentist dropped out for lunch right in the middle of pulling 2 teeth, and I poured blood; another dentist pulled the wrong tooth for my sister. My twin brother also needed a filling and didn't receive enough anaesthetic and felt the drill boring into his tooth. The point is, I've been traumatized, and I think justifiably so ! Fast forward eighteen years. Yes, eighteen. I'm not proud of that, but what with bad experiences, and the fact that I travelled for years, I haven't been to a dentist in all that time. I finally booked an appointment after seeing favourable reviews for Aarm dental on Hornby as I felt pain in my teeth. I realised Aarm dental was different from that very first call. Jenna, the receptionist, truly listed to me - and even suggested I don't book my first visit on my birthday (which I was going to do) ! When I arrived for my appointment, Dr. Charmaine Fong listened to my concerns regarding dentists, then set about easing them. We spent about an hour or so going over dental history, taking X-rays, pointing out problem areas, etc. She made me feel comfortable, and that she really cared about me as a person and not just a customer. I told her I had a thing about pain, and that I was very nervous. She assured me that I was in good hands. It turned out the "pain" I was feeling was that I needed 6 fillings. We decided that 6 at once would be too much so we booked a second appointment, and started on the first 3. First she froze my gums with a pink mixture that tasted of bubblegum. After waiting about 10 minutes for it to take effect, she gave me a local anaesthetic with a needle. I was really worried about that ! She apologised, then manoeuvred her arm in such a way so I wouldn't see the needle. I honestly didn't feel a thing ! When I did feel some pain (for a split second) in the roof of my mouth, she warned me first and apologized again, after. Again, after a pause to let the drugs get to work, she got the fillings taken care of. After finishing we scheduled for my next visit. Since that first time, I've since been perhaps 4 other times, to complete work, or a cleaning, or a check up. I am so happy I took the plunge ! I've felt guilty about not going for so long, and it was something that was hanging over me. I now have no fear at all about going to the dentist. Dr. Charmaine Fong is an exceptional dentist, and really stressed the importance of maintaining a good dental routine every day with the right tools, and frequent visits to the dentist. I have since recommended her to my friends. My twin brother was even more traumatized than I was about dentists, but left the clinic smiling. I can't believe what I'm about to say - but I'm actually looking forward to my next visit. Thank you Dr. Fong !

She showed no empathy/compassion and probably just thought I was making excuses. Needless to say, I was not impressed with her attitude and lack of respect. My previous dentist was knowledgeable and encouraged me to keep my teeth healthy, but had a way of being really nice about it and never made me feel terrible. Even when I showed hesitation in getting my wisdom tooth extracted (I was clearly nervous) and asked her what my options were, she very plainly said, "you can do nothing or get it removed!". Like I know that Sherlock; I was looking for more information and reasoning. One of the worst dentists I've encountered and lacks experience in patient care and bedside manner. Do not recommend - seek an alternative dentist. I will say though that the receptionists were very kind, courteous and attentive. They answered my questions politely and respectfully.

When you first walk into the place, the assistants are friendly, helpful, and genuinely smile at you. I have personally been working with Dr. Ryan Lauwers, who has done a wonderful job. Upon joining the clinic, Dr. Lauwers gave me a full inspection, so their records would be fully up-to-date. No big deal, right? Not only did he do this, but he proceeded to explain to me each of the tests that he performed, in simple, easy to understand words. The testing was comprehensive - covering things as far as my jaw. In terms of actual procedures, this place has been a gem. It's about as easy and painless as it gets. I had to have a wisdom tooth removed about a month ago. It was causing me pain, and I was worried, because Christmas was coming up. The practice immediately fitted me, less than 5 days. A different dentist, Dr. Sara Bishara, performed the procedure, and was so gentle and kind. She was sociable and friendly, making sure I didn't experience any discomfort, and also quick. This practice is a phenomenal find.
