I was really excited to find out there's a Bruxie nearby while staying at my parents in the OC. We've had the one in Vegas a few times and loved it. My review is based on the takeout experience. We got kind of lost since we're not familiar with South Coast Plaza. Didn't know it was accessible through the inside of Bloomingdale's. There's a restaurant entrance inside and you can go upstairs. Instead, we came back out and drove around the building until we saw something Dynasty or the collage sign. Service was good. Everyone was really nice. It seemed like it was newly opened. We ordered chicken and waffles combos, naked waffle, kids meal waffle, and a loaded tots. The waffles were as good as the ones we had in Vegas. The chicken wasn't as crispy but maybe cause it was takeout vs eating there. Since we ordered the combo, it was supposed to come with waffle fries and I guess they forgot it. It also came with drinks but I was kind of disappointed that it's mostly ice (like probably 90% ice). My daughter's kids meal was a strawberry and cream with the waffle. It was missing the whip cream. Overall, I felt like since it was new, they might have needed to work out some kinks and forgot some of the pieces of our orders. I would come back for the waffles! But possibly not for the chicken unless we're eating there. read more

SO glad that they reopened a Bruxie's near me! This new location is in the food hall near Bloomingdales (next to Paradise Dynasty) and is really easy to find. Our go-to is the fried chicken sandwich and the original chicken + waffles. While the food was cooked well and tasted great, this location still needs to work out some kinks. We waited about 40 minutes for our food and after asking where the meal was, they said the sandwich was done but they were still waiting for the chicken and waffles. They had left it sitting out - which meant the sandwich was cold by the time we got it with the other entree (which was piping hot). Overall, happy about the food, but hoping they get a little more organized as time goes on! read more

I was so excited to learn that Bruxie opened up at SCP/ Collage Culinary Experience! Have always been a fan of their food and their frozen custard. The staff at the Bruxie SCP location is not only friendly but super knowledgeable about the menu. Their recommendations were all spot on. Our favorite is the Original Fried Chicken Sandwich; the fried chicken was juicy and flavorful, the slaw gave it a wonderful crunch and lightness but of course, the chili honey is what really makes everything come together and sing between two crispy waffles. The chicken and waffle plate came with two huge pieces of juicy fried chicken and a whole thicker waffle that was unbelievably delicious. Of course, no Bruxie visit is complete without their frozen custard. It's the perfect sweet ending to a great meal. You can even pick what mix-in you want. But what can be better than to dip some of their waffle into a creamy custard for the perfect bite? Also, this location is simply perfect. It was a nice surprise to have this location open. This is an affordable option for those who are budget-conscious, especially at the world famous South Coast Plaza. This Bruxie location is located literally right next to the Paradise Dynasty restaurant. If you're hungry waiting to be seated at Paradise Dynasty, you can order some fries while you wait. I digress... I ordered the egg waffle sandwich and it was pretty tasty and filled me up. What's noice is that you can order brekkie all day. However, it did take a longer than the estimated time frame of 10 minutes, and there was only one other customer ahead of me. They have been open for less than a couple of months so that could be why it took longer than expected. As a huge fan of any fun food innovations, Bruxie was always a favorite spot of mine when it was in Irvine. Waffles that weren't sweet and were a vessel for all sorts of fun meat combinations were an idea that I loved! But sadly a few years ago that location closed and I haven't been back since. That was until a few days ago, when I was in Costa Mesa for an appointment and recalled that one had pretty recently opened up in South Coast Plaza. It's always easy to park there on the weekday and I knew exactly where this location was. Now, I almost never go to a food establishment right before it closes, and this seems to be a case in point. I started off by looking at the menu but I already had an item in mind. My go-to has long been the Country Sausage and Egg. If there's one breakfast item I love, it is a breakfast sandwich. However, something quickly caught my eye. Unless my memory is wrong, I swear Bruxie's menu has drastically changed for the worse. Instead of having a good amount of waffle sandwich options, it seems to have leaned into common American fare since as chicken fingers and even sandwiches with a regular bun! Oh how far Bruxie has fallen! It's possible the person taking my order was new since he did not understand my order request the first time I said it. A bit strange but it's totally fine since the item is clearly on the menu. What bugged me more was that I was starting to type my phone number in to sign up for rewards but as I was doing so, he cleared my screen and was not able to go back. As it was pretty late in the evening I did not want to fight him on that, but it was a bit disappointing. Sadly the real nail in the coffin here was my food. I can't say I have ever received a worse-looking sandwich from any Bruxie location. The sausage was in pieces, the egg was overcooked, and the waffle was a bit darker than typical. It wasn't quite as good as I remembered it, but it was still edible thankfully. One more thing is that since there were plenty of seating options inside the food court, I wish I was not automatically given a to-go bag and container. I am trying to not be super wasteful when I go out to eat, but places like this give the buyer little option. Bruxie will always live in my heart as somewhere special, but it truly was not the same. I may go back eventually one more time to give it another shot, but with so many options at South Coast now, it seems there is little reason to go. read more

Hi to Bruxie again!! I was not able to order in person at Bruxie this time (I loved it when I came in, there are so many options!!) but I did order from Doordash. I ordered a couple of things but I forgot to include to label the orders. I called the store and the girl that picked up was so sweet and nice. She was able to label the boxes for me and her handwriting is so cute! We had a chat about some stores around Bruxie and we both love shopping at Aritzia! I believe the girl's name is Quinn. Absolutely live and love for her. I did notice that the menu changed a bit but I was actually able to understand it. It did cut down some options. Happy to have a Bruxie back in this part of OC after the one in Irvine closed. But, someone needs to train their kitchen staff better. Ordered a waffle breakfast sandwich and got a soggy grease bomb. Instead of the usual thin coating of mayo on the waffle to protect it from moisture, there was a super generous blob of it between the egg and the cheese. So the mayo melted/split and soaked the waffle. Stodgiest thing I've ever had from them. I had their breakfast waffle egg and bacon. It was delicious. Added maple syrup to it was perfect. It was early in the morning and got there before 5 minutes to open. Working in the mall I had to get a quick bite to eat and this was convenient for me. The girl took my order and it was made pretty fast. My 30 minute lunch went by fast. I felt full and satisfied. Just a disclaimer. My wife and I only went to Bruxie because we had an old gift certificate for $25. With that being said since they closed the one in Huntington Beach downtown we opted to go to the one at South Coast Plaza in the Bloomingdale's wing. We both got the traditional chicken and waffle with waffle fries and a drink. It was actually very good. We were both very pleased. Great tasting waffle and the chicken was moist, not dried out. Don't know if we would make a special trip just to eat here again but we were not disappointed that we did. I would recommend it for something different. read more
