First time visit. Went for breakfast and were not disappointed. Both ordered the breakfast bowl. I had the bacon. Wife opted for veggie bowl. Very well put together. We asked if the empanadas were available as they do not serve lunch items until 10 am. Our server said they could get some for us. These were brought out while we ate. They were hot and delicious. You order at the counter. Drinks are self serve fountain drinks. They are located toward the back of a large church complex. Patio service is available. Very spacious inside. Located on the campus of Pure heart church, this restaurant is awesome! The tacos are on a 6 inch flour tortilla (a little bigger than a street taco). It is packed with meat, or vegan, avocado and pieces of tomato and onion. DELISH! My favorite is the huge burrito. So glad to see a Brushfire location at this campus near my home. My Brushfire love affair began at the Tbird & 101 location. Sadly I moved away but now there's this location a mile away. The only thing that sucks is they close at 1pm daily except on Saturdays, they're open til 7pm. I put a reminder note on my fridge so we can pick up dinner here on Saturday. So, about their food. I love their bowls. Every single one. My favorite is the pork (al pastor) bowl with its chunks of pineapple and the perfect ratio of meat, beans and rice- so flavorful! What I like about their bowls is that they top it with the lettuce instead of the lettuce being buried under all the other ingredients. No one wants soggy lettuce. I really enjoy their elote, croquettes and empanadas. All are a wonderful accompaniment to their entrees. For $4 & some change, you can make it a combo and add a tapas item, chips & salsa plus a drink to any menu item. I like the bowl option as a way of offering a healthier alternative to the burrito. Sunday morning craving: Breakfast burritos. After doing a search, I stumbled upon this little spot and thought, "Seems legit." So I headed over. To my surprise, it was hidden (out-of-sight) in the back lot, near a church. Odd place to put a restaurant, but I "followed the masses" and went into Brushfire. It wasn't fully packed, but it wasn't too slow either. So I thought for sure I made a good choice. The reviews were packed with descriptions of how good the food is, which only goes to show you: don't trust everything you read. Overall, I wasn't blown away by my breakfast burrito. It was just okay. For being located next to a church, it's nothing to praise. The best part of my meal was my horchata. Doubt I'll be back. Living in AZ, there are numerous places with the type of Mexican food that will roll your eyes back. Unfortunately, this wasn't one of those places for me. The staff was very nice and hard-working. I had the Steak taco meal-Steak Taco top left, Empanadas Top right, Brushfire Medium salsa bottom right, Verde salsa bottom left and in the middle spicy mayo. With chips to the side. All about $10 dollars. Make sure you get 2 salsas because you will get plenty of chips. I really enjoyed the spicy mayo with the empanada! Very comfortable place to enjoy a meal located in the middle of the church. And as an added plus the air conditioning in this place is amazing for a hot summer day. I was super excited when I saw this place had opened up. But then I tried to find it and was thrown off because all I could see was the church that was surrounding it. I finally pulled into the parking lot and saw that it was at the center of the church campus. Walking in and seeing the slightly hipster vibe going I knew that it wouldn't disappoint. The people greeted me as I walked in which is always nice, plus since it was around 1 it wasn't crowded so that was nice. I ended up order the steak nachos to go and I am glad I did! Some places always skimp on the steak when you order nachos and usually give you more salsa, guac, beans and cheese which I am not mad at but when they don't shave enough meat thrown in there it bums me out. This place a great amount of all the fixings. Plenty of steak to go around and plenty of chips to eat it all. My only gripe was the to go bad felt a little to small for all the food so I had to dig a little to get to my chips but other then that it was great.
