I told him I would try to schedule for Saturday at 12:30 and get back to him (which was one of the times he was available). A couple days later, I told him I was trying to work with the sellers to confirm for Saturday. I told him I understood that he couldn't hold the time for me unless I was confirmed, but told him I did expect him to let me know if his schedule changes. I went ahead and was able to reach the sellers to confirm the appointment within a couple minutes. By the time I was done with the phone call with the sellers' agent, I got a text back from Tim saying he does not tell prospective customers of schedule changes and that he will "pass on this inspection." I texted Tim back saying I was able to confirm for the time that works for him and he responded saying "I am passing on this inspection." So I was left last minute to find another inspector. Has it been another client they would have likely confirmed with him and just cancelled as needed; however, I wanted to be clear with him because I respect the time of professionals and all I requested is that he let me know if he can no longer make it so that I am not scrambling to confirm a time that doesn't work for him. Another issue is that he costs a bit more than other inspectors (about 15% more than the average). I told him I was OK with that as long as he did a good job. Overall he is relatively curt, does not seem friendly and from the way he treated me it seems that the is interested in volume, rather than quality customer service.
