This is an awesome local spot in Slidell. It is owned by a former Slidell fire chief. The staff there is very friendly and down home. This place is awesomely decorated and has a New Orleans/cajun flavor. They have a small menu that features some eye catching exotic hot dogs. They also have hot dogs monthly specials that do not appear on the menu. Just look out for the signs around the register. The restaurant has a small parking lot and some limited street parking is available. You will find a decent sized dining area, and an outdoor patio, furnished with tables with umbrellas. I really liked the bar inside. It has a lot of seating, some televisions and there are two garage doors behind it that can be opened to give the bar an outdoor feel. I ordered the hot dog of the hotdog of the month, for the month of October. I also got a side of fries. My food was prepared quickly and It was pretty good. No one in my group was disappointed with their meals and was very happy that we came here. I really liked this joint. It has a lot of personality, great food, and a very friendly staff. I was in Slidell visiting family, and they highly recommended Bruiser's. When in LA, I like to eat as much seafood as possible, but after a morning of exploring the local parks, a hot dog sounded pretty good. Bruiser's is a hot dog place with the feel of Louisiana and the charm of Chicago. The inside is really cozy. Lots of Chicago Cubs decor, baseball games on TV, collectors items, including authentic seats from Wrigley Field, and even St. Louis Cardinals targets in the urinals. (Haha) The bartender, who I think is an owner, definitely reminded me of someone from ChiTown as she yelled things back and forth from the bar to the kitchen. Don't be put off by this, she was really friendly. The menu features dogs from all over. There's a chicago style, and a few other big cities, then things like today's daily special (the Muffuletta Dog), with a LA twist. I asked the bartender if I should give it a try, and she gave me a "duh" kind of answer with a smile. I was convinced, and she was right -- it was yummy. We also ordered some special tots to go with. One thing I found amusing was their tag line, "the home of the Barduca", but I didn't see it in the menu. I asked what it was and she explained it was a foot long dog, but they don't sell it anymore. You can order 2 of the smaller duca dogs to essentially create it. I'd normally consider an inaccurate menu to be poor business, but in this case, it's a small, locally owned shop that likely serves locals that don't pour over the menu and ask questions like me. I thought the menu and people were charming and the food was good. A tad pricey for a hot dog -- but it was good quality and after all, it's a small business in a hurricane town in the midst of covid. I didn't mind mind the price knowing it helps the local economy. I'd def eat here again. Other fun things: 1) there is outdoor seating 2) this includes a bar 3) the patio has water misters to keep things cool 4) parking is available in their private lot 5) they feature a real life dog that's up for adoption each month. Look for the sign on the bar. 6) they also have a donation box to help support other local businesses effected by the hurricane* on the bar. I thought that was cool. *I visited a few weeks after Hurricane Ida came through. This area was mostly hit with power outages and lots of downed trees. read more

Buiser's is a high-end hotdog place, conveniently located in Slidell's Old Town area. It is in a re-purposed filling station/mechanic shop that is now a bright and welcoming eatery with lots of outside dining options. There's lots of humorous memorabilia throughout the establishment. Of course, the key to making this work so well is to have great hot dogs! They have got this covered. All their dogs and sausages are large and plump, and their buns and bread are top notch as well. The signature dog is probably the Chicago Dog, which is complete with the dark green relish that makes these complete. The New Yorker has the right mustard, and sauerkraut to make it tangy and tasty. The "Dirty Dell" is a giant dog, that is as filling as it is tasty. For local flavor try the Andouille Dog, which has the smoked goodness of Andouille sausage. It's hard to decide when they have so many tasty choices! Side items include crispy spicy fries, and tater tots. However, you can go a bit healthier by having their really good coleslaw. The best hot dog I've ever had! No, seriously! I got the jambalaya dog which was chili, cheese, and jambalaya of course. All beef, juicy, hot dog. The chili took me back to a much better elementary school chili. The jambalaya was flavorful with sausage in it. It was a filling, delicious, messy combo. I felt like I got so much food for my buck. The tots were delicious and almost too pretty to eat. The bun was perfect and thick enough to hold all the delicious toppings. All of the workers were so nice. The atmosphere is super fun and lively. I've passed this place a dozen times, and it's never open. When we saw patrons inside this week we decided to give it a try. Our 1/4 lb hot dogs were among the best we've ever had, juicy, perfect flavor, and a good "snap." Topping combos are good, I wished they served fries instead of tots. Decor is all Chicago Cubs, an odd choice for a New Orleans suburb, but to each their own. Bar STAFF (not customers) were WAY too rowdy - it cost the restaurant one star! read more

Great Hotdogs, Excellent Homemade Cheesecake and Fun Atmosphere! I stopped there months ago, to wet my whistle and discovered a plethora of Hotdog options on the menu. Since I love a good Hotdog on occasion, I tried one! After several trips there, I made myself try the Cheesecake and found it to be one of the best I ever had! This is not a high end restaurant, but that doesn't mean your not going to get a gourmet treat. The service was fast and friendly. They took time to introduce themselves and give us background on the place since it was our first time. But the real deal was when the dogs came out. They have a bunch of standard combos or you can make your own. For a little over $7 I got a 1/4 hot dog on a home made with blue cheese, bacon, chili & coleslaw. I am a big guy and it was all I could do to finish that and a beer! The tater tots with cheese and bacon I shared with the wife went unfinished. I posted a pic as well. We will be back. Pro tip; there is an old time barber shop 2 doors down with guys that have been cutting hair over 60 years. We now go get a dog and I walk down and get a hair cut. read more

Not your average hot dog. Huge and deep fried with a homemade bun. Got the footling Barduca dog with chili, slaw, and bacon...and I can recommend it. Wifey got the Muffalata dog and raved about it.
