I'll keep this short…read more Good, friendly, courteous employees. The eye doctor was good. Thorough. They were helpful in setting up a referral to an eye surgery place to zap out my cataracts, then even more helpful when that place didn't contact me whatsoever but scheduled me for an appointment and told the eye doctor's office they had called, spoken to me and left a voicemail (They did both things? Really? Interesting, considering I received no voicemail and never spoke to them on the phone once. That review will be forthcoming and will very likely have a far different tone and tenor than this one). They went above and beyond to help me pick up the mess that the eye surgeon's office left me in less than a week before the surgery, so I was extremely appreciative of that. A little pricey, even for Fishers. Hard to get a prompt appointment. I called up and told them my vision was blurry and I had headaches by the end of the day every single day. See you in two weeks. Very good selection of eyeglass frames. They stay open late on Wednesdays. Good for us working stiffs as a way to pick up glasses and not take time off. In all, much better than the place in the mall.

He remembers details about me and checks in on a personal level during the exam and truly listens to my concerns. Exams are thorough, and Dr. Potter is honest--he has told me when my prescription changed very little and I didn't need new glasses. I don't feel like they pressure you to buy an expensive pair of new glasses just because you're there, which I can't say for some other places I've gone. The rest of the staff is also SO friendly and they make the visit fun. There is a huge selection of very cool frames with a good price range. Glasses can be expensive anywhere you go, but you can get a nice pair here reasonably priced or you can get pricier designer frames, as well. I have done both and been satisfied. I love it here!

It's been a year since my initial contact with Dr. Tavel, a result of Tavel having an onsite clinic…read moreat my employer that allowed me to get an eye exam conveniently while also getting a pretty darn good price for glasses. Dr. Tavel is a familiar name in Indy, a locally and family-owned eye care chain since 1940 with 24+ locations across Indiana. As I'd noted in my original review, I was quite happy with my onsite experience. The optician explained things well, they accommodated my wheelchair well, and I was super impressed with Dr. Siddiqui. I ordered my glasses onsite. I'll admit I had some reservations as the frame selection was weak. However, I found a frame I liked and decided that with the affordability I could get some upgrades I'd long wanted to try including transition lenses. My glasses arrived right at the end of the time frame I was offered. You could arrange pick-up at any Tavel location. I chose Pendleton Pike as it's reasonably close to my home. The Pendleton location also has remarkably convenient hours. It's located in Esquire Shopping Center, definitely not the best area, but being in a strip center it also means accessibility is pretty strong with decent parking, appropriate curb cuts, and a glass door entryway. The front entrance isn't the best, however, it works. A case and cleaning kit came with the glasses. They offer refills on cleaning fluid. They also do adjustments at no charge. As I'd also noted previously, the experience is a little less personal here. It's fine, but nothing like I experienced during the onsite appointment. When I showed up to get my glasses I was the first customer of the day. It showed. So, why am I dropping a star? In the last few weeks, my glasses have suddenly had the lens pop out twice. There's been no drop. No fall. No accidentally sitting on them. I've been wearing them, or putting them on, and suddenly the lens pops out. It's weird. It also makes me feel like the frames are cheap. The first time I took the frames in, they fixed them no problem. But, to be back a couple weeks later kind of bugs me. I'd already felt like the "transition" part of the lenses was fading a bit too soon. This just really cemented the idea that these were "cheap" glasses. I took the glasses back the second time. Again, repairing the glasses is no big deal. This was mid-day on a Saturday - quite a bit busier. They clearly spent more time fixing and cleaning them. There was what felt like a snarky comment about me dropping the glasses (I didn't). When I received the glasses back, I realized there was a small chip in the lens. The employee tried to see if it could be wiped away. It couldn't. Something about this bugs me. Your only real job is to make sure I can see clearly - with a chip in the lens, that's clearly impaired. Yet, there was no conversation about warranty, no conversation about options, and no real concern expressed. It felt like a retail shoulder shrug. I mean, maybe there's really nothing that could be done. But, having that conversation is called customer service. Considering I've been getting weekly texts reminding me it's time for my annual exam, maybe offering actual customer service would encourage me to get that exam? Instead, I asked for a copy of my prescription (which I received) and have begun looking elsewhere. Here's the thing. You had an amazing chance here. I loved the transition lenses - and it was your practice that wisely recommended them. They've been a game-changer for my vision and in other ways. Yet, if I can't trust the quality of your glasses and that you care when something goes wrong why on earth would I come back? In all likelihood? I won't. Well, unless the lens falls out again before I can get a replacement pair.

They had a huge selection of frames to choose from, so there were plenty of styles to browse. Nathaniel was especially amazing throughout the process. He was super friendly, patient, and helped make several modifications so I could find the perfect pair. I never felt rushed, and he really took the time to make sure everything felt right. They also had a bartender serving espresso martinis during the event, which was such a fun touch. I ended up having a chilled white wine and enjoyed it while trying on frames. It wasn't planned as I was just going to browse, but I did end up purchasing glasses, and honestly, I've never spent this much on a pair before or added so many personalizations, but it truly felt worth it. They carefully fit the glasses, made sure the lenses were correct, and sent me home with a cute bag, case, cleaning cloth, and lens spray that can be refilled anytime, which I thought was such a cool perk. Definitely recommend this place if you're looking for quality glasses paired with excellent customer service and a more personalized experience.
