Dr. McLucas saved my life. I cannot thank him enough for caring so much and for taking such good care of me. I met Dr. McLucas after a friend referred me to him just hours after my OBGYN told me that I needed a full hysterectomy in my early 40's and she was going to scrape out my uterus. I was mortified by the language. She also told me in a second conversation that I couldn't have the fibroid embolization procedure that Dr. McLucas was prescribing because "mine were too big." I went with Dr. McLucas and she was 100% wrong. My heavy periods and discomfort disappeared and my stomach started to shrink back to a normal size. I was in my office two days later, after her telling me I would be down for weeks. I always teased Dr. McLucas that he didn't have much of a bedside manner, but what he does have, he has in spades. He's an awesome doctor. He did my embolization 22 years ago. I live in Seattle now, but if I lived in LA, he would still be my guy! Thanks Dr. McLucas. You already know. read more

Have you ever been so happy to have real answers and solutions to years of medical issues addressed that it brought you to TEARS OF JOY? I have! In 1999, I saw doctor after doctor and slowly fell into a depression that my only cure would be death. But, I had a 3-year-old son that needed me. As quietly as kept, I tried to find a replacement to fill my shoes as a mother (and wife) when I was gone. I was referred to Dr. McLucas after I sought a second opinion due to a list of women's health issues. Dr. McLucas's level of medical knowledge, professionalism, and empathy was 'just what the doctor ordered' and I needed. He addressed my concerns and explained the steps to overcome my health issues. I was empowered. My fears were overtaken by self-advocacy. As a result, I asked Dr. McLucas if he would be my doctor. Throughout the time of being under Dr. McLucas's care, my health improved. Invasive surgeries were replaced with minimally invasive surgery. I was up and moving less than 24 hours post-op as proof of feeling tip-top for my son's fourth birthday party the day following a procedure. I felt 299.9 percent better. I was able to heal physically and mentally. I am nothing less than thankful the Lord blessed me with Dr. McLucas. read more

I cannot thank Dr McLucas enough for gifting me with the miracle of motherhood at 40 years old. He is an unmatched doctor, both in skill and bedside manner. I joke with him that he is the unofficial godfather of our two month old baby girl, since she would not be here without him. I will never forget the words that Dr McLucas said to me when my old OGYN told me that I wouldn't be able to get pregnant after an embolization. Without skipping a beat, Dr. McLucas told me on the phone that was absolutely untrue, and told me "call him when you're pregnant." I travelled from Florida to California to have my uterine embolization with Dr. McLucas back in 2021, and then had a follow up hysteroscopy with him in 2022 to remove the remaining small stubborn fibroids and some polyps. I did that because Dr. McLucas told me if I were his daughter that would be his recommendation. That is just the kind of doctor he is, one that approaches things with heart on a human level. All the while, Dr McLucas knew that my intent was to prime my uterus for childbirth by giving it the best chance for implantation and unobstructed growth of a baby. I chose embolization specifically because I would still be a candidate for vaginal birth, which I feel so blessed that I was able to have. Dr. McLucas was able to heal my uterus, which allowed my husband and I to conceive naturally without any fertility treatments, and have a natural vaginal birth at 40 years old. When my previous Miami OBGYN made me feel all was lost because I had gotten an embolization and the blood supply to my uterus would be compromised, Dr. McLucas made himself available on video call to calm my nerves, and assure me that when done correctly, the uterus is not compromised with embolization, which proved to be true. When my new Florida OBYN made me feel all was lost because I happened to have low egg reserve number (unrelated to the embolization), again there was Dr. McLucas on the phone to talk me off the ledge, and assure me that other patients of his had conceived naturally with numbers like mine. Again, Dr. McLucas was absolutely right. After only 5 months of trying to conceive, my husband and I got pregnant and nine months later gave birth on September 30, 2023. Without the experienced hands and unwavering advice of Dr McLucas over this period of time, I don't know where we would have been. From the bottom of my heart, I thank Dr. McLucas and his staff for actually caring about my well being and health, for consistently following up with me long after the surgery was done and I was back in my home state, and for helping me to achieve the true gift of motherhood. read more

I don't think words can describe my gratitude to Dr. McLucas and his staff. Their team changes lives. I have been dealing with fibroids since 2018 and it has been a constant source of anxiety for me. When I was only 26 years old I began showing debilitating symptoms. The only treatment offered was a myomectomy. I gladly underwent the knife at the time and things were better for a couple years. However, as they so often do, the fibroids grew back. Once again, the only treatment offered was open myomectomy since I didn't qualify for a laparoscopic procedure. I had always assumed Seattle was known for having good healthcare, however it was frustrating that invasive surgery seemed to be the only option. Moreover, it felt like my doctors continually pressured me to have surgery again. Luckily, I spoke with fertility specialists who warned me against this since myomectomies can cause scarring which may lead to infertility. Being young, this wasn't an option. So I began researching, and Dr. McLucas's website appeared in my search. I googled his background (which is impressive) and watched several videos on UFE before I reached out. Dr. McLucas walked me through the procedure and his staff was extremely friendly, ORGANIZED, and thorough. I had a few questions on fertility to which they published research articles I could refer to in order to help me make my decision. He and his team are extremely easy to contact and work with - I think anyone who has had to navigate a large healthcare system knows this isn't always the case. I had my procedure almost 2 months ago. It was easy and recovery was 100 times better than open surgery. Since then, I am already seeing improvement which is faster than I expected. My stomach is beginning to flatten, which my friends have noticed. I can fit better into my clothes without feeling self conscious. My period is beginning to lighten. Every day I wake up and I am thankful for Dr. McLucas and his team (shoutout to Gwen and Gwyn). This is why I am writing this review, which I never do, for Dr. Mclucas. I want other women out there to know that help is available and your options are not limited to myomectomies or hysterectomies. Additionally, Dr. McLucas's team is the best of the best. I have never received such personalized care. They consistently check in on me. It's obvious that Dr. McLucas also cares about his patients and their wellbeing. I actually look forward to my virtual appointments with them. So if you have managed to read this entire review and are suffering from fibroids, I highly encourage you to reach out and at least have a conversation with their team. Again, their work is life changing. Also THANK YOU Dr. McLucas for introducing UFE to the US in 1994. Where would all these women in America be without you?!!! I feel lucky to be one of your patients. read more

My experience With Dr. McLucas was top tier. I've experienced complications with fibroids since 2013 and when I went to Dr. McLucas in 2017 they were the size of grapefruits. After much personal research and reassurance from the nurses and staff I decided to have the UFE procedure. My biggest concern was being able to have children after the procedure. Welp! That concern went away when I got pregnant in 2020 with my son! He's now 2 years old and I'm no longer experiencing pain and complicated cycles due to the fibroids which have basically been shrunken down to nothing. On my last ultrasound my GYN said that they were virtually undetectable. Dr. McLucas was very caring the whole time and answered all of my questions and concerns. If anyone is contemplating having this procedure, let me tell you that not only did my fibroids shrink significantly and eventually die off but the UFE LITERALLY changed my life forever. 10 out of 10! Highly recommend! read more

I had several fibroids. I was told by my OB/GYN to have a complete hysterectomy. I got a second opinion, that surgeon wanted to do a partial hysterectomy. I started looking at UAE. I found Dr. McLucas, and I am happy with my results. Doctors use fruit as a size reference of fibroids, and I had a fruit basket in my uterus! My largest fibroid was the size of an apple, I also had a cutie orange and a few blueberries. Dr. McLucas took the time to explain the fibroids as intramural or submucosal, the locations and how UAE would alleviate my excessive bleeding. (My periods were coming every 2weeks/8-10days with heavy bleeding and clots. After my treatment they are back to my normal 28day cycle/five day light flow.) This works ladies! Don't have some surgeon pull your parts out if you're not ready. I had my procedure January of 23, 2018, four years later I am doing great. My mom was a surgical nurse and after seeing how Dr.McLucas handled my care, the surgical staff, the surgical center, and even Dr.McLucas' personal calls after my procedure even she was impressed. She said I picked a great Dr. I'm writing this review so you can too! read more

I am beyond grateful to have found Dr. McLucas. He and his staff are talented, kind and caring. I cannot recommend him enough! If you are struggling with fibroids please do yourself a favor and take an exploratory call with Dr. McLucas! Ever since our first point of contact, Dr. and his nurses have checked in with me via text, phone call, and Zoom almost daily! I'm now 3 weeks post procedure, and am still feeling cared for with check-ins etc. I could go on forever about the benefits of choosing Dr. McLucas, but here are the spark notes: -Dr. will make a point to see you quickly because he knows you need relief! I called Dr's office and emailed over an ultrasound late in the afternoon on a Thursday, and was seen via telemed conference the next morning -Dr. will give you a clear plan of action. He talks you through the surgery, benefits, risks (minimal), recovery time, and even includes a contract for MAX out of pocket charges -The day of the procedure, you will be cared for by the most attentive, angelic nurses you could ever imagine. They made me feel like I was being cared for by my ultra nurturing mother -Dr. and a nurse (mine was Gaby) will be there with you every step of the way. As mentioned above, Gaby and I spoke at least 3x/day for the first several days pre and post-op to ensure I was comfortable and recovering well. Dr. McLucas checked in with me frequently as well! - Finally, the procedure is EFFECTIVE!! read more

This review is written especially for young women. I hope you take the time to read this before you decide if embolization is right for you. I've hesitated to write this for months due to the sensitivity of the matter. Recent consultations with different gynecologists shed light on my situation in ways my previous visits with Dr. McLucas did not. I did the embolization with Dr. McLucas back in 2021. The process of the embolization was not only painful but also led to an unforeseen and "mysterious" complication--a fibroid in my bladder, which had to be removed months after the embolization. Despite extensive tests, Dr. McLucas couldn't explain why my fibroid wasn't shrinking or why I was still experiencing painful periods. I decided to seek other opinions, and embolization was ruled out by both doctors I've reached out to; they both told me the same thing: due to the size of my fibroid, my age, and the impact on fertility, I was not a suitable patient for an embolization. A renowned fertility doctor even suggested exploring surrogacy now that I had done the embolization. I wish Dr. McLucas would have been transparent about the potential impact on my fertility from the beginning, and that I was in fact, not a suitable candidate for this procedure, instead at 31, he assured me this wouldn't affect my ability to conceive. It's disheartening that money spoke louder and now my dream of motherhood seems shattered. read more

The most caring, professional, knowledgable, thorough doctor in LA. Dr mc Lucas took care of me from beginning to end. AND I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL. I can say now after almost exactly a year from my first fibroid procedure, that my life changed completely. I had a couple of fibroids, one as big as an apple or a grapefruit (its unclear from the pictures) And my periods were SO HEAVY and painful. I had to have surgery/procedure. Me and my husband are crazy researchers and we ended up trusting -my uterus- to Dr Mclucas (I am 34) I'll try to keep this review short but there' s so much so could say about Dr. McLucas and his staff. Long story short, I had 3 procedures, the last one was a lil hard cuz I developed a fever, and Ingad to go to Cedars and stay there a few nights, it wasn't anything serious I just had a fever and a lot of pain, but Dr Mclucas was always so available and went above and beyond to make DAMM sure I got better. After all the procedures, I can now say that was one of the best decisions I made, and along with some birth control my periods are non existent. Thank you DrMclucas and Thank you LINDA for everything!!! The only bad thing I would say is that the nurse (from Philippines) was horrible, she hurt my arm several times and was not gentle at all. Other than that 5 stars to all the good you do for women Dr Mclucas. Ps: right before going into my first procedure I was so nervous and had so much anxiety, DrMclucas grabbed my feet (I was laying down on the bed) and told me everything is going to be ok, I thought that was so sweet :') read more

Bruce B McLucas, MD - Obstetricians & Gynecologists Near Me - Beverly Hills, California

I found Dr. Bruce McLucas' practice via Google in August of 2022. I had been dealing with fibroids for years! And to the best of my knowledge, the only option to relieve this condition was to have a hysterectomy. Yeah the " H" word, as in hysterectomy and no woman of child-bearing age wants to hear such a word. Well, I was tired of living with fibroids, it had affected my life for years and I was ready to do something about it. So I began searching. I am thankful for whatever guardian angel I had on my shoulder because I wanted a specialist. I knew the size of fibroids and the multitude of numbers of them was so massive, only a specialist could help me. I called Dr. McLucas' office, and he actually answered. He was polite, and immediately had his office assistant Gwen, contact me, that's same day. Oh, his staff is so kind and professional. Thank you, guys!!!! I worked with his office to schedule an appointment asap, which was pretty quick . Went into his swanky office located in West Hollywood. I mean, each step of this process, I am reminded of the ease which every experience introduced. Before going in, I had my imaging done, etc, because we wanted to as much information as possible about the fibroids in my uterus. His office walls were decorated with his medical licenses from UCLA and some were even in latin!! Yes, he is a pioneer in the United States in Embolization. There are medical doctors (M.D.'s) who keep the oil going and then, there are those born to make an impactful difference . I believe Dr. BRUCE MCLUCAS was created to do this. This is how you make a difference, a long lasting one, a positive one in the world. Helping woman hold onto her power as a life giving being. Thank you, Dr.McLucas. I knew I was in good hands. Ok, onto the actual procedure. It was seamless! I arrived, checked in , vitals checked, and oh even his anesthesiologist, Chung was gentle and A-plus. Many, many thanks to Jessica, one of the nurses for being the consummate professional. Thanks to Gabby, Linda for being so professional and thorough, through this process. Once the embolization was done, 2 days later, I felt the for presence of the brick-like formation in my lower body( the once upon a time home of these pestering fibroids) and I no longer felt them. Wow!!! Embolization works! And I can't help, but be in total awe that I went with embolization and not even a week after the procedure, the annoying symptoms of fibroids have all disappeared . Right?! Yes!! Plus his staff checked on me once I was home, even through the weekend. I'd totally refer anyone dealing with fibroids to Dr. McLucas. Totally, and I thank him for providing a better option which is less painful, less invasive than the remedy offered to millions of women dealing with fibroid. This is a happy ending to years of frustration. Thank you, Dr. McLucas. read more

This review is in regard to billing. Which is a NIGHTMARE! I have no issues with my procedure and I'm truly happy with outcome, and I had no issues with Dr. McLucas personally he was extremely attentive, but I'm very unhappy with the billing practice. I signed my paperwork to have my procedure done in March 2020 and paid my 1K copay to set a date. I was told this would be my only out of pocket cost and I still have copies of the documents I signed. I was also told the that the total cost of the procedure was around 14K (give or take a lil). Well of course covid hits hard and there was an issue of where my procedure would be done because hospitals were cancelling elective surgical cases. So I was setup to have my procedure at a surgery center in Beverly Hills. Now this is where things start to get tricky. I'm not sure if the cost was inflated due to me not having the procedure done in a hospital setting, but if this was the case someone should of explained this to me. A few months later post procedure and after covid died down a bit I was sent several bills. The anesthesiologist sent a bill charging for "angioplasty" which was not the procedure I had, and I also received several other miscellaneous bills. I called the office and someone was attempting to help but was never attentive enough to tell me what was going on. It was mostly. "We'll look into what happened and call you" but those calls never came. Fast forward and now I'm getting calls and letters from the billing department asking me if I received any checks from BlueShield. I explained to them that BlueShield did not send me any checks not one. And I even took things a step further by calling BlueShield myself because I wanted to get to the bottom of the issue. Well BlueShield informed me that no checks were sent to the patient (ME), and that all payments were sent via bank transfer to the doctor and they even went as far as giving me the bank routing number to prove this. But what shocked me the most was that when I asked Blue Shield how much was billed they told me the direct deposit to the MD was around 42k! Much more than what I was quoted when I signed on the dotted line. I supplied all of this info to Dr. McLucas's billing department and they seem baffled and stated that they were unsure of who's routing number that was but I can say for sure it wasn't mine! And the icing on the cake is that now a year later post procedure they're sending me bills for "virtual follow up visits" that were probably 5 mins max if that, and I had to have virtual follow ups after my procedure during the height of covid due to the office being closed. What happened to the 1k copay that was supposed to be my only out of pocket cost? And why was my insurance billed so much? These are all questions that remain unanswered and I have yet to hear from anyone after my last email correspondence on June 13th 2021. I just want my name cleared because I did my part by paying my copay in full, and I feel it's really distasteful to bill a patient a year later for "virtual follow up visits" when covid was out everyone's control and rightfully so this is something that's supposed to be included with your copay costs when having a procedure where follow ups are necessary. So I'm just patiently waiting to hear from someone because it's been crickets since my last correspondence in June and again, I just want my name cleared. read more

I am thankful that I found Dr. McLucas. He literally saved my life. I had fibroids and went to 8-9 other OBGYN. They recommended birth control, hysterectomy, or nothing at all. I was actually not absorbing enough oxygen and I was very anemic. He looked at my ultrasound and blood work. He offered me a solution that no other "doctors" with the lab coats ever offered. He treated me. I'm so glad I found him and he didn't dismissed my illness. I was crying silently and no one heard for years. I had severe cramping and I'm sure the anemia and fibroids were attacking my hair follicles. read more

I did tons of research about uterine fibroid embolization and found Dr. McLucas online. I liked that he'd done so many procedures for so many years and that he was a gynecologist as opposed to me having an interventional radiologist perform the procedure. The thought of traveling from Seattle to LA for for my embolization was a bit nerve wracking, but once I arrived, Dr. McLucas helped put me at ease and had a wonderful bedside manner. I'm so glad I had the embolization procedure. It has made a HUGE difference in quality of life and I appreciate all that Dr. McLucas and his staff did for me. Thank you! read more

Dr. Mc Lucas has been wonderful in treating my fibroids and my severe anemia. With his wonderful team he makes sure that you understand your treatment, and you are well taken care of during the entire process. I had a terrible experience with my previous OBGYN and walking into his practice was a life changer. I am no longer anemic my fibroids are under control and I have gained my life back from all the terrible symptoms that come with fibroids. The embolization procedure itself is rather quick ( around 40 minutes) and within 3 days you are almost back at normal. Additionally every one at the surgery center is very nice. In the office Linda and Gabby are also wonderful. Dr.McLucas is very professional and will not relent until he fixes your issue. You can feel that he really cares about your well being. read more

Dr. McLucas and his team vastly improved the quality of my life. Any woman who has fibroids understands how much they can greatly impact your day. My periods had become so heavy I went through an entire box of tampons and pads every month. Sometimes my cycle would last 10 days. I even developed anemia which is no fun. The pain alone would cause me to vomit, the first day of every cycle. Look, it's never easy dealing with hospitals or indifferent nurses that treat you like a number. You're vulnerable. You're anxious and scared. People are touching you and prodding you and it's not great is it? You won't find that with Dr. McLucas and his team. He has a wonderful bedside manner and because he helped pioneer fibroid embolization he's the man I trust the most and I was so fortunate that his expertise and knowledge saved me from further pain and low quality days. If you are suffering from fibroids or just have slightly more pain than usual do yourself a favor and see this man. You don't have to live with it. read more

Cute, but no, I don't think so :) Ended up choosing Brandon. He was an amazing and gorgeous doctor then...I can see that he still is and is truly respected and loved by many. In July of 2021, I was diagnosed with a very large fibroid that was growing rapidly. The fibroid was the size of a cantaloupe and I looked six months pregnant. I was in severe discomfort and pain. I was told by my initial health provider that I needed an urgent hysterectomy... in her opinion due to the rapid growth there was reason for concern that it might be malignant. I was placed on a waiting list and was pushed around from office to office. I decided to be my own health advocate and began searching for support and to learn what my options were. I finally found Dr. Bruce McLucas' practice after an 8 month search. Both his staff and the Dr. helped me greatly. They were kind and generous with their time. I felt that not only was my physical health important, but so was my emotional/mental health. Dr. Bruce McLucas helped me understand the different options that I had available. I was very happy with my experience. I also feel that the success that I have had with the health path I decided to take is in many ways related to the support I experienced through Dr. Bruce McLucas office. I would absolutely refer to this Dr. and his amazing staff. In the end I did not end up working with them, because I was an out of town patient. But it was through their medical consultation and support that I was able to make the best decision for my health. Extremely helpful to have met them. read more

I was a former patient of Dr. McLucas a few years back and for women wanting UFE, let me share my experiences with him. I will try to be as fair as possible. What to Expect: - McLucas' bedside manner is not personable. It's very business oriented and rushed. Brush up on your homework about UFEs, different types of Fibroids growths, calcification and follow up removal. He will not tell you alternative approaches such as diet, exercise or medical supplementation. Even better, get an ultrasound before your appointment so you come in armed and ready. - His staff is top notch; to the point of going above and beyond the call of duty to make up for his errors. I've had multiple billing horrors that his staff fixed over several months time due to paperwork ping pong. For that I am grateful; thanks Shannon and Co. - Always get multiple opinions. Yes, McLucas is one of the pioneers of UFEs, but he's not the only doctor to do alternate procedures: myomectomies and such. There are multiple doctors in Los Angeles that do so, especially in Santa Monica. Make sure you search them out and know all your options. - For my case, McLucas did his surgical work in private medical facilities. When you're given an address, call them and MAKE SURE they take your insurance before you go under. I had to fight with a medical facility that wanted to charge me 30k . Luckily, check out point 2. The 2 star rating is because the work done and his medical diagnosis were correct but I found that weight loss and diet [which I asked in our first meeting; thus answered with a resounding 'no'] helped more, his billing was horrendous/shady and if you go into his office unprepared and emotional, patient beware. read more

I am only giving a star because I have to in order to write a review about this specific doctor. I was diagnosed with Fibroids in 2009 and had to undergo with the myomectomy procedure because the fibroids were too large to do another type of procedure, surgery was not by Dr. McLucas. Today Oct. 2012, I had gone in to see Doctor McLucas in Aug. 2012 because I was refered to the doctor as the guru of fibroid and embolization procedure. My tummy now looks like the fibroids have grown again which are pretty normal for women that are diagnosed with fibroids. I want to add I had gone in to get an idea of what embolization was exactly and how it would affect me in the long run in case of bearing children in the future. My company insurance didnt kick in till Oct. So, I wanted to wait till then to weigh my options before undergoing embolization or myomectomy. Well, needless to say October was around the corner and the doctor himself was calling me everyday, leaving messages, followed by one of his staff members to schedule this embolization procedure. My insurance is PPO but I have just discovered that they are not within my PPO network. I was left with them calling me back to schedule an ultrasound, I guess they found out they were NOT within my network. They NEVER called back again. I just want to say before you decide to use this doctor please do your research thoroughly before you let this doctor sell you on this embolization procedure or even go near your uterus. I feel this doctor is not looking for the best interest of the patient but his own interest of his wallet; to use your insurance for a procedure you may not need. There are four other ways to treat fibroids; embolization is only one of them. I hope in reading this; it will save someone from getting scammed into a procedure you may not need or can be given alternatives. As far as me, I'm not letting this doctor touch me. read more

I regretfully write this review. I wanted to disregard some of the horrible things I have read online about Dr. MClucas and this clinic but now I just cannot dismiss what happened to me. I was referred here by an online ad that stated FREE visit if you have fibroids as well as by a friend. That's why I came here. I am a cash patient. I was sent out to get a bunch of tests which I did and I paid huge amounts of money for. The results were pretty much what I expected and I knew what I wanted to do. The Dr tried talking me out of what I wanted to do and tried talking me into a procedure that is not very successful in cases such as mine even though he says so. One of his staff even told me that when she closed the door. He agreed to do what I wanted but I felt uneasy when I found out he had only done 3 of those procedures since his other staff member Shawna(I think was her name) was there. Also he wasn't addressing an issue I had brought up to my satisfaction and he rushed me out of my appt with him saying "see you next time" meaning on surgery day. I asked him if he would be performing it and he said yes but he was bringing a lapriscope specialist in to assist. Um....this sounded fishy. Good thing I got a second, third, and 4th opinion....! Long story short. I cannot have the surgery the way Dr McLucas wanted to do it. My case is much more complicated than that! He was told about the concerns. It's based on the very same information he had available to him and my history and exams. He however forgot key components, to send me to Urologist, and additional type of surgeon I might need there to prevent what I kept telling him I was worried about but he didn't listen. He was willing to take my $15,000 to destroy my body and possibly cause me to have multiple surgical procedures after that though huh? I would seriously think twice before going here. There's some serious ethical infractions going on here whether they've been able to prove them in court or not. He's not qualified to do many procedures that he says he does. Hysterectomy being one of them. Not all women need or want to save their female parts. What he suggested for my procedure was not something any of the other 3 Doctors I went to recommended and all of them do however preform full or partial hysterectomy as well as other surgeries. I ended up having my surgery at cedars which ended up being longer but my Dr was amazing and had I gone the other route I would of been screwed because I had a frozen pelvis. So always trust your instincts. If it feels wrong, leave. Do not contact me to reply to this review. read more

About two weeks ago, I had 2 procedures done by Dr McLucas and staff: UFE and hysteroscopy+myomectomy. My experience with both was good overall. When my primary Dr recommended I have the UFE procedure to treat fibroids, I conducted tons of research on the internet and prepared a list of questions for when I met Dr McLucas. During my appt, I did not feel rushed and felt like the doctor answered my questions adequately. The offices are very nice and the staff runs it efficiently, with great attitudes. As to the doctor himself, I agree, he is not one of the most personable doctors I've ever worked with, but just because a doctor has a mediocre "bedside manner" doesn't mean he/she isn't technically proficient. He stated he has done 6000 of these procedures so I felt like I was in good hands. The support staff in the office is very helpful. They prepare you and counsel you well before the procedure for before and after-care. In all I was at the pre-procedure appointment for 2.5 hours, no joke! I ask a LOT of questions! And they were all answered without any note of impatience or frustration. After I got home from the procedure, the nurse, Mary Lu, called me every day for a week to check in. That was reassuring. I will have my next follow up at the end of August, but so far so good. The pain lasted as expected/as was described and I'm now feeling a lot better. I had 2 minor negatives. First, had some issues with rescheduling my 2nd procedure appointment (at their request) and I felt a bit shuffled around, we changed it up like 2 times and this was after the UFE so I was hopped up on pain meds and probably not in good shape to be shuffling around my calendar. In addition, I wish they would have told me in the pre-procedure briefing that I would not have stitches at the UFE site but would have an arterial closure device called an Angio-Seal. As dear as Patty, my counselor, was, she does need to get updated on technical specifics of the procedure so patients can be forewarned. (I did tell the office this myself) In all, I cannot in good conscience "un-recommend" this doctor for these minor things though... I felt that technically things have worked out fine and I am feeling good... but do your own research and let your instincts guide you. Some doctors don't jibe with everyone. I hope this has been helpful and a legitimate description of my own experience. Everyone is unique especially when it comes to these types of "female issues." I wish you the best of luck. read more

(Also posted on the Fibroid Treatment Collective page. Copied here.) I tell every woman I know about the Fibroid Treatment Collective. Finding Dr. McLucas, and this procedure, has improved the quality of my life immensely. I used to have very heavy bleeding every month, due to fibroids (sorry, TMI, I know). It was REALLY bad, and I was tired all the time from anemia. My OB GYN wanted to do a myomectomy - through the wall of my abdomen. She told me it would be similar to a C-section and would have a 4-6 week recovery time. I am a single mom who works full time -- there's NO WAY I could be out that long! So I started searching for alternative fibroid treatments and found Dr. McLucas. From my very first visit, I felt very comfortable. The office is beautiful. The staff told me where I could park for free, and walk around the corner to save money. Dr. McLucas met with me in his office, listened to my symptoms and clearly explained the procedure. I was able to have the embolization procedure in the hospital just 2 weeks later. Now, I will not lie to you ladies -- the first 12 hours after the surgery were pure hell. I had extremely painful cramping -- even with pain meds. But around midnight, the cramps subsided and I was able to sleep. By morning I felt fine. A week later I got on a plane to France and walked all over Europe! Now, the important part -- I am about 6 weeks past the procedure and I have had one period -- which was completely normal!! Not heavy or prolonged like they used to be! The embolization worked! I had a second procedure last week (Hysteroscopy) so Dr. McLucas could look into my uterus with a camera and make sure the fibroids had shrunk (they had) and biopsy anything that looked weird. I just met with him today and was told all is well! I could not be more pleased with the outcome. My OB GYN wanted to cut me open!! The incision Dr. McLucas made is about the size of the letter L on your keyboard. Tiny! Everything else was done internally. Do not let your OB take your uterus out or cut you open before you speak with Dr. McLucas. You will be so happy that you did! read more

I'm saddened and shocked by some of the reviews I just read. I just popped on here to get an updated phone number for Dr. McLucas (so no, I'm not an employee). My experience completely changed my life for the better. Dr McLucas gave me my life back and kept all my lady parts enact. I welcome anyone to contact me with questions. Oh and it's not a surgery, yes there's anesthesia involved and a hospital but technically it's a procedure, not a surgery. read more

Wow!!! Can't believe the reviews I just read. I believe everyone's body is different, and you have to do your due diligence when it comes to your health. Doc. Bruce Mclucas did my embolization in 2006, and in 2008 my husband and I was blessed with a baby that Doc Mclucas delivered. Yes I had pain after the embolization, but the pain from the fibroids was just unbearable . I also had some billing issues, but I was told upfront what the billing procedures were. I hope my story has helped someone , Always go with your gut feelings. God bless. read more

It's been 6 years since my procedure and I am happy to report my fibroid reduced in half and has remained reduce and I have been symptom free. I would continue to recommend dr McLucas read more

Overall, I am VERY happy that I had the Fibroid Embolization procedure done my Dr. McLucas. After being told by two doctors I needed a hysterectomy or myomectomy (although I still can possibly have children) I went to the Fibroid Treatment office. Dr. McLucas told me that those surgeries weren't necessary and that after the UFE I would feel a whole lot better in a few months. I had the UFE done at the end of February 2014 and months later I no longer have the horrible painful periods that lasted 7 days and I'm not longer anemic. Aside from trying to shed a few pounds, I feel great!!! The front office staff is sweet and they make sure to speak to you when you walk through the door. The nurses were very helpful and answered a lot of my questions and concerns. One of them checked up on me on a Friday and gave her personal cell phone if I had any problems over the weekend. The office manager was also friendly and seemed genuine. She was easy to reach by phone or email. My insurance only covered a part of the procedure, and the office manager worked with me financially. The staff at the surgery center was also wonderful. The down side of my experience? The Doctor means well, but he comes across a little creepy and not friendly (some doctors just don't have a great bedside manner). The day of my procedure he was VERY friendly and spoke to my family before and after the procedure. Also you have to make sure (with all doctors/medical people) that you communicate what medicines work for you and those that do not. They gave me Motrin, which I had a bad experience with. However, the doctor was more than happy to give me a prescription for something that worked better for me. I didn't like that I bought a list of things that I didn't really end up using. Lastly, YES THE CRAMPS ARE BAD. For most of us who have had painful periods, you might believe "yea, yea I've had worse". NOPE!!! THE CRAMPS ARE BAD for almost a week. They say you should be "back to normal" in 10 days. It took me a month before I was comfortable going back to work (I do a lot of standing, climbing stairs and some light lifting). I had a weird, painful pinching sensation in my side that the doctor didn't understand. The nurse (who was wonderful) said it was a side effect near the incision site and would last a few days. Eventually it did go away. If I had a time machine and could go back in time would I have this procedure done? HECK YEA I wish I would have done it sooner. read more

Dr McLucas is a great practicing physician. Him and his staff called me after having to rounds of embolization to close Arop the blood supply to my big arrived feeding the fibroid and my smaller artists in attempts to shrink softball size fibroid as well as the smaller ones. I think going into my procedures with him I had the hopes the embolizations would work on my Fibroids so I could avoid a myoectomy but just like all medicine it Depends on how your body responds. I was willing to take my chances and all my Smaller fibroids based on my Mri were shrinking but the bigger one was resistant to treatment and continued to grow. I had it removed finally after 5 months of Trying to shrink it but I don't regret trying embolization first. He is very corky and funny as you get to know him And his staff I wanted to go to the best in the Field and he is the pioneer on embolizations. I wasn't looking for a doctor to be nice and have great bedside manner I wanted someone who was very experienced since I've had 6 surgeries for my fibroids over 12 years and did not want to lose my reproductive organs my next step is possibly trying for one more baby read more

In few months it'd be 2 years since my embo withu Dr. McLucas and I wanted to give an update. Everything's been great! Previously with all the bleeding I barely had any energy to get through the day. This past year, I've been working 18-19 hour days straight. I know, I know, I should take a break already, lol. Seriously, ladies, every month when my flow starts I'm reminded of how lucky I am. The procedure was a life-saver and I will always be grateful to Dr. McLucas for giving me my life back :) Please read my previous review about my experience at the time. BTW - I noticed that a lot of Dr. McLucas positive reviews are caught in Yelp's filters. You'll get to them by scrolling down to the bottom and clicking on 'filtered' and jump through a couple more hoops before getting to them. It's a shame that they aren't side by side with the negative reviews on his Yelp profile. I think the positive reviews are as important as the negatives and you should make your own decision about who/which reviews apply to you. read more

Glad I found Dr. McLucas!! After years of heavy, painful periods his fibroid embolization procedure changed my life! One day I felt a hardness in my lower stomach area and felt "something" poking out. I went to my primary physican to check it out. Days later after having a pelvic ultrasound (which uncovered 3 small and 1 large fibroid) I quickly jump on the internet to discover my options. There seemed to be only one option for fibroids - complete removal of the fibroids through a surgery which would have me out of work from 4-6 weeks. I can't be out of work for 6 weeks! One day I was driving home and heard a radio commercial advertising the fibroid embolization procedure by Dr.McLucas as a solution to fibroids issues/problems. Out-patient procedure...little recovery time...no reoccurance of fibroids.... these phrases were music to my ears. I went to Dr.McLucas' website, listened to one of his webinars, and quickly schedule an appt to see him within 1 week. I had few questions for him in person as I had gather so much info from his website. Scheduled my surgery for 2wks later and have never regretted the decision. I had surgery on Thursday morning and was back at work the next Monday. Experienced bad cramping for only 1.5 days after procedure, but took alot of pain medicine during that time so it wasn't so bad. After the first two days, I took pain medicine moderately. I NO LONGER experience severe leg pain cramping and painful cramping 2wks before each period. I STILL have menstrual cramps, but they now occur only during my period week and they are definitely not as painful as before. I NO LONGER experience extra heavy periods and leakage (I would go through 1 pad and 1 super plus tampon within 1 hr). I now use 1 pad and 1 super plus every 3-5 hours for the first two days of my period. No more scheduling activities around my period. One of my fibroids was pressing against my bladder. THIS surgery cured my frequent trips to the bathroom The fibroid that was "poking" out has definitely shrunk. It's only been 2.5 months since the procedure and I look forward to my fibroids shrinking even more. Update: It's been 14 months since my procedure and I actually waited a year after my procedure to have the follow-up pelvic ultrasound; my three small fibroids shrunk ~ %50 (as Dr. McLucas predicted) and the extra large one shrunk by 35% (which the doctor pre-warned me it wouldn't shrink to the 50% level due to its size). My periods continue to be moderate to light and no new fibroids!! read more

Dr. McLucas and his staff were very attentive and caring. They called before and after the procedure checking on me. I never experienced that kind of care from any Doctor before. He's very direct, to the point. It's been 2 weeks since the procedure and I feel much better already. If I were to consider having a baby I would have Dr. McLucas be my OBGYN. I definitely would recommend to anyone going through a fibroid issue and we have already. I was also very pleased with the hospital Saint Vincents they were also on top of my care and I felt very well taken care of. I would suggest you view his web site and watch the videos. http://www.fibroids.com read more
