I walked into Bru in my two tone Caleb Williams jersey that I bought from a Mexican street vendor the day before, drenched in sweat and mud after running routes over at Wicker Park. It may have just been the jersey, but I was DEALIN. I threw like 9 TDs and only 1 pick. I was in dire need of some protein after such a dominant performance, so I went with the Purple Line smoothie that consisted of strawberries, blueberries, peanut butter, and vanilla whey protein. $11.50 before tax and tip was a little steep in my opinion, but it was delicious. It replenished my body after a hard fought W. IG @johnny.novo Tiktok @jnov__ Substack @johnnynovo
What a lovely cafe!!! The food is excellent!! I loved my California breakfast crepe, with eggs, cheese, spinach, avocado and a chipotle sauce. The presentation is lovely and the paper holder can peel as you eat it so it won't make a mess. My iced lavender latte was tasty too. Cool vibes here. The ambiance is chill. Lots of seating, plush chairs, fun chandeliers and decor. Chill music in the background. It's a good place to get some remote work done. Friendly service and positive atmosphere.
Stopped in for a quick bite to eat and I ordered a california bfast crepe. It was very tasty and filling! They have lots of tables to sit and study at. The service was kind and friendly. I will def come back here to study, drink coffee/matcha, and for their amazing crepes again! Street parking on this part of Milwaukee is a hit or miss.
Lovely space to hang out and enjoy some coffee & crepes. Very nicely decorated. We ordered a California bfast and English bfast crepes. They were both tasty and filling! -1 stars because it was too oily for my taste.
My friends and I visited here yesterday. We each ordered crepes and two of us ordered coffees. The crepes, although overpriced, were DELICIOUS. I had the vegan tofu crepe and it was really good. All of us really enjoyed our crepes, but like most reviews, we felt with the exception of the lox crepe my friend ordered that our crepes were on the overpriced side. My feeling is that these crepes are paying the rent here. It's Wicker Park and it's a great location. For a rice crepe with tofu and vegetables with a cup of coffee was $23. From a costing point of under a $1 to create (rice, tofu and veggies are dirt cheap) the markup on these crepes is ridiculous when you actually think about it. That being said, the crepes cost more than just the price of ingredients. You have front and back of the house costs to factor in. It just feels like this food is on average $3 more than it should be. They have the constant traffic and I don't think they are struggling to pay the bills. I had also ordered the lavender white chocolate mocha and my friend the pumpkin spice. Neither of us could taste any flavor at all in our coffees. The coffee itself wasn't mind blowing and this is a coffeehouse! Very, MID. It wasn't awful and it was great. There was no flavor AT ALL of Lavender or white chocolate. It just tasted like regular drip coffee mixed with oat milk. I ended up just throwing it away. I was disappointed as the profile sounded great. When I shared that my coffee had no flavor, my friend stated that in her coffee she couldn't taste anything remotely pumpkin spice and hers tasted like regular coffee and cream. The staff was not able to be the most outgoing as they just seemed very busy the entire time we were there. There wasn't any small talk, interacting or anything. It was like everyone there had 5 jobs to do. While I was there, I never saw a single worker free from tasks long enough for any small talk or interaction with the customers. Just stopping long enough to take an order and back to work. Even when going to use the restroom, I had to bother a barista diligently pumping out coffee orders. Customers never want to feel like we are bothering employees. Get more employees and let these people breathe. Other than that, the place is clean. Great vantage points for people watching inside and out. The interior has a cool, hip look about it. It's located right next to Myopic Bookstore and would be a great place for first dates and catching up.
I paid $7 for a 12 oz iced latte (which already means this better smack) and I can barely taste the syrup AND the cup is absolutely teeny tiny. It's not the size of a regular coffee, it's like extra small and skinny toward the bottom for no reason other than to scam you out of getting a regular sized latte. Not worth the money at all. Pls just go to Colombe or something, I'm so sad
I came here for the first time and tried their honey yuzu matcha. It definitely has the yuzu flavor so I liked it. I took off a point because service was slow even though I was the only one. This is a cute spot for a date or hanging out, just set aside some time to get your items. There is a lot of space for people to do homework or work.
You know, good. Wacky decor that all send a bit off kilter, but it works. I wouldn't say service was fast, but it was friendly.
Highly recommend this spot! Bru offers a variety of sweet and savory crepes - as someone who makes my own crepes at home, I am very impressed with the quality of Bru's. They are thin and delicious with crispy edges! We were also helped by a very nice barista. Overall, service, food, and vibes are great!
I Was Wandering Around Wicker Park When I Overheard Someone Raving About Bru, So I Decided To Check It Out. The Place Has A Super Cute Vibe--Vintage Decor With Comfy Couches That Make It Inviting To Sit And Relax. I Ordered A 12oz Latte With Almond Milk And Pistachio. The Total Came To A Hefty $7.94, And After Tipping, I Paid Over $8 For A Small Coffee. From The Time I Received My Drink To Finishing It Was About Three Minutes. The First Sip Was Delicious But Lukewarm, And Before I Knew It, The Coffee Was Cold. For The Price, I Expected Perfection, Or At Least A Properly Hot Cup Of Coffee. It's Disappointing That Such A Premium-Priced Drink Didn't Deliver On The Basics. While The Atmosphere Is Charming, I Won't Be Returning To Bru. For That Cost, Every Cup Should Be Flawless.
Did some work here and grabbed coffee and crepe. Both were just okay -- nothing particularly special, but not bad either. It's a decent spot to sit and get some work done or study for a bit. Service is friendly and welcoming. Overall, a average café experience.
Came here for breakfast. We got the following... cinnamon Brown sugar chai: this tasted warm and sweet. This was good. I would get this again! Cappuccino with almond milk: this was good and perfect for the cold weather English breakfast: Turkey bacon, mozzarella, tomato: this was warm and flavorful. Chipotle chicken: this was our favorite the flavors were perfect. It was cold but still tasted great. Next time I might ask them to keep it warm read more

Chicagos hottest coffee joint is Bru. The décor is located at the corner of french regency parlor room and opulent sex dungeon, and this place has everything. Floating hats, gluten free crepes, a printer the public can use, random Japanese foods, CBD coffee, as well as normal coffee beverages for basic bitches that don't like to experience new things. read more

Stumbled across this little gem when we went to the Adidas and Champion stores. So glad we were hungry. Blink and you might miss this little gem. Signage is subtle. It's cavernous and dark. The brightness comes from the subway tile wall behind the counter. It's nicely decorated and the staff did a great job walking around and sanitizing surfaces. There is plenty of seating The food is delicious. We intended to go sweet and savory but ended up with two savory crepes. We did the chicken teriyaki and the pear/goat cheese/honey truffle. The first I would definitely do again. The latter I could swap out for a tried and true sweet dessert crepe or depending on my taste buds hit up as my savory. Staff is friendly and very helpful. Will definitely try a coffee drink the next time around. read more

We stopped by Bru for some dessert after dinner nearby. The strawberry mango crepe was absolutely delicious (and a pretty nice portion to split between 2 after a meal). The Strawberry, mango, custard, mascarpone, and toasted almonds really complements each other. Can't wait to try the others! read more
I loved this coffee shop! I frequent coffee shops around Chicago in order to study and do some work and Bru is one of my favorites. There's plenty of tables and space to sit and it always has a nice vibe. There are chandeliers and hats hanging from the ceiling and it's unique. The baristas are always nice and accommodating. The coffee is also pretty good. I always order the chai tea latte or the white chocolate lavender mocha, as seen in my image below. Overall, a really chill place to come get some work done! read more
The decor is so beautiful, it's so vintage to look at and it has a nice vibe in there. Cute, comfortable seating I ordered a Nutella banana crepe and subbed it out for strawberries instead of bananas. My crepe was super sweet with the Nutella and it was way sweeter than what I initially wanted. Mine was overly sweet and I didn't finish it. It had hazelnuts and the crunch was so good' I love the crunch. I had a few super sour strawberries, but nonetheless, id order again but less Nutella on it. It also had whipped cream on it & I think they make their own whipped cream, super tasty and delicate. I love it. Id do a 8/10 for mine too. My friend ordered the açaí bowl, but she didn't finish it either. She left about 3/4 and she would rate her açaí bowl 8/10 The only letdown for me was the sweetest level and I had to drink a cup of water, still wasn't enough to tackle the sweetness or the crepe. Overall, id recommend the place. Id prob get something different next time I go there. They had overall good customer service, interior was beautiful, food wasn't too bad, not overly priced. 4/5 read more
The food here is great!! The Acai bowl was refreshing and delicious. As for the chocoholic crepe it was to die for! I would rate a 4 but my issue was bad communication on the staff! We got a pager but it never rang! They called an acai berry bowl and I wasnt sure if it was mine bc a ticket # or anything wasnt called. Same for the crepe thats why in the photos the ice cream is melted. Food amazing Staff communication lacking read more

Amazing for gluten free! All of their crepes are gluten free. They have savory and sweet. Amazing!!! Plus a full coffee bar. Aesthetic is calming as well with darker colors. Everything was delicious. 10/10 visiting again. read more

We stopped by this coffee shop for the first time yesterday! The vibes were very cool and quirky, but the coffee was nothing remarkable. There were lots of tables that people could do work or study. We got the iced cappuccino, which was pretty standard. The coffee flavor was great. We also got the cold brew horchata. The cinnamon flavor was excessive while the taste of coffee with each sip was underwhelming. We might've just gotten the wrong drinks, so we might come back to try some other drinks! read more
I've been here a million times and always get the same thing - can't say enough about the wild berry mascarpone crepe. Equally dessert-esque sweet with fresh fruit, and amazing crepe! It's a little warm when you dine in and get it fresh! Espresso is great too, usually get a plain iced latte but if I recall correctly, at one point, unsure if they still have, they made a brown sugar or something of the sort latte. Will continue to return, especially since the service has steadily gotten better and better! read more

Great coffee joint in Wicker Park. Been coming here for a few years now, and always had a good cup of coffee or chai. Great spot to sit down to study or meet up with some friends. read more
Beautiful atmosphere. Coffee house tunes from yesteryear gently floats in the air. Barely a whisper is heard, just the steaming of milk, clanking of coffee cups and taps of patrons on their keyboards. There's plenty of seating for people who work remotely. The orange cappuccino is exceedingly delicious. I'm sure they take great pride in preparing all off their food and drink. read more

My husband and I had just arrived to Chicago on Thanksgiving. We check into our hotel and we are hungry. We drive around and stumble on a cute little place called Bru Chicago. It gave bohemian coffee house vibes...vintage chandeliers, sofas and chairs, decorative pillows...it was adorable. So they specialize in crepes...fruit, breakfast, savory, sweet...take your pick! We ordered the Teriyaki chicken and spicy beef crepes with Lavender Lemonade...I'm in love! The flavors, the care in which they put into preparing our food. Although we arrived about 30 minutes before closing they were still hospitable and warm. I thought about those crepes all night..I guess I will have to check them out again before leaving on Saturday. read more
I now daydream about the goat cheese, arugula and pear crepe with honey truffle oil--so addictive. I need to try something else but always seem to come here when I'm craving this crepe, so this has become sort of a habit. I've brought several visiting friends here and they've all found a new true love as well, so I'm sure everything else is amazing too, but I can't seem to deny myself this one for now. Such a great place. The Orange Cappuccino here is also stellar. read more

It's been a while since I've stopped here and while the spacious cafe is still as cozy as I remember, it's definitely been perked up quite a bit! Adorable seating, and a solid menu of delicious sweet and savory crepes, smoothies, coffees and teas. Everything we tried tasted delicious, my only nitpick is that I wish the savory crepes had been warm. The flavors and textures were well balanced and everything was very fresh. My Earl gray matcha was also delicious, as was my sister's berry smoothie. Yum! Will definitely be back :) read more

Delicious food from smoothies, coffee, crepes, pastries, and protein shakes! The customer service is friendly and efficient. Not to mention the lovely mid-century aesthetic! Check out the wall of clocks on the left side when you enter - it's picture worthy & I want to replicate it in my house! read more

We stopped by this cafe to dodge the rain. In particular, I was lured in by the sign advertising a hot caramel apple cider. And I was so glad that I tried it out because it was delicious. It terms of apple cider, it was probably one of the better ones I've had (minus the ones that you get fresh pressed at an apple orchard). We also got a brown sugar pumpkin chai tea latte which was also delicious. Perfectly pumpkin flavored and perfectly sweet. I'm not a fan of pumpkin spice lattes so this was a nice alternative. I believe both these drinks were seasonal! From what I saw they also have raw juices, sandwiches, pastries and crepes on their menu. I didn't try any of those but it's nice to know they're there! The space itself was a little strange, they had a few small tables in the front of the store, a large table and a few couches, and then more tables in the back. Didn't feel particularly cozy like some other coffee shops do but at least the drinks we got were good. read more

Love it! Everything was just amazing: Atmosphere: so cozy amazingly designed spot with a lot of books and chandeliers. Food: gluten free rice crepes were so delicious! We got Lox (smoked salmon and cream cheese) and Blue cheese & mushrooms Drinks: that's perfect spot for unusual coffee drinks. We ordered Pistachio Latte and Lavender White Chocolate Mocha. Definitely recommend! read more

I go here all the time! Whether to study or read, grab a quick bite to eat or drink. The menu has coffee and teas, and yummy delicious savory and sweet crepes. The staff is so nice too. They call out the order not your name in public which I appreciate. The shop is very large and accommodates many sized groupings of people, even with more seating in the back. One all gendered bathroom. It's cozy and quirky in a cool way with awesome decor. I love it here! Can't wait to go back soon. read more

I would recommend Bru to anyone looking for a quick bite or pick-me-up. The drink selection is comprehensive between their coffees, teas, protein shakes, and smoothies, and although the latter two are on the expensive side, I would say they are well worth the price for how good they are! The crepes further elevate this cafe as a unique option that offers both sweet and savory choices. The only downside I would describe are that some of the sweet crepes are overly so, sometimes so sweet that you can't finish them. The service is great, and the overall ambiance of the cafe makes it great to chill, study, or just grab a snack. read more

Fluffiest, softest consistency in this açaí bowl - potentially cuz I added protein powder? Idk, SO GOOD. Iced decaf latte was perf too. 4 stars and not 5 because they only have these plastic, to-go containers, even for dining in AND NO RECYCLING....... Very sickening in my opinion! Don't know how that's even legal haha. Nice studious ambiance - good charging availability too if you need to plug in. read more

Stumbled across this place and it quickly became a highlight of my day. Their menu features smoothies, açaí bowls, coffee, health shots and famously the crepes. I ordered the mixed berry crepe and it was delicious. They have sweet and savory crepes, either would be sufficient for a full meal. Price point is high. I'd say it's worth it for the crepe but doesn't look like it's worth it for the drinks. Small smoothie for a high price. However they are fresh! Great atmosphere and huge eating space, perfect for being alone and getting work done or to sit with friends. read more

I absolutely love Bru - it's one of my go to study spots in Wicker. The service is always great! The crepes that they have here are phenomenal and are decently filling for the price. I also really like most of their coffee here (like the white lavender mocha latte or their chai latte), but I always find that the matcha latte lacks flavor and is a bit watery. Bru has a really interesting and comfortable environment to study in. read more

Was excited to try this spot but was disappointed to say the least. The food was okay and the service was not as friendly maybe because I was wearing a face mask but the coffee was nothing special. But what leads to my disappointment is the amount I money I spent on a coffee and crepe- very overpriced spot and in my opinion not worth the money. read more
