Hello - I had to take some time to write this review to showcase the experience I had at BRSH dental. I hope people "DO NOT" consider this dentist after reading my experience. I visited the BRSH dental office on May-2023 for general cleaning and consultation. This was my second visit with this dental provider. Since I missed two of my cleanings in last year I knew I had some scaling. They suggested deep cleaning with an additional charge of $220 that I need to pay out of pocket based on my insurance estimates. I understood that this is just an estimate and paid ASAP during the visit. I have done those in the past where my estimate comes up sometimes little lower or higher. After my visit 2 months later they sent another bill that I still owed them $368 additionally. Unfortunately I moved to a new apartment and missed the bill for few months which they ended up sending to collections. I had to call my insurance provider "delta dental" to understand the disconnect since I visited only once the entire year this should have been covered. After multiple grueling calls with Delta & Brsh dental I had to uncover that , "BRSH" dental stopped using "delta insurance" from feb-2023 and my coverage is considered "out of network" and "delta insurance" will pay only 30% of $368 the charges on top of the $220 that I already paid. (Please note this is just for cleaning and descaling). My frustration with this dental office especially the office manager at "Brsh dental" is below things 1. They did not let me know during my May-2023 visit that my insurance status has changed to out of network for past 3 months although I have visited the same place as "in-network" year before that. At this point I have to assume that just for sake of taking money they will do anything to keep a patient by deliberately choosing to omit the truth. 2. Estimates they provided was completely out of whack and to understand that "brsh" was out of network took me 6 phone calls and 2 conference calls with Brsh and delta dental after this fiasco. 3. I had little time after I realized that they will send to collection to figure this entire thing. They could have easily given me some time to figure this out before sending to collections. But now I ended up paying 20% extra charge on top of it as collection fee. 4. Most importantly "Dr Tjao" adds fluoride toothpaste to every patient like a goodie bag but no single patient knows that they charge $22 and bill the insurance. It's like an add-on which they will make you believe as a freebie by deliberately choosing not tell you that this thing costs 6 times a normal toothpaste. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THEIR SERVICE AND LOCATION. THESE GUYS ARE OUT TO MILK THE MONEY NO MATTER. HOPEFULLY THIS HELPS PEOPLE FROM DETTERING TO VISIT THIS DENTIST. read more

I hate the dentist, period. My childhood life had traumatic experiences with dentists' offices. Brsh Dental and Richard, my dental hygienist, has helped me take steps back into the dentist's office. The receptionists are friendly and respectful of their clients, and Dr. TJoa is receptive of my concerns and issues. She is very straightforward with what she sees, and she offers her professional intake of what should be done - it all depends on if you're willing to do what she sees is best for you. The guest room is spacious and has an Elizabethan and contemporary look to it, so it's relaxing to sit and wait to be called in. read more

I have been going to Brsh Dental for the past 2 years. Dr. Tjoa and her team are terrific. The office is beautiful -- it is the nicest dental office I've ever been in! I've gone here for general cleanings/checkups, and also had to come in for a broken crown. I received excellent dental care and every time I've come into Brsh Dental has been a positive experience. Additionally, Dr. Tjoa is a great connector. My family was new to Houston and Dr. Tjoa generously provided us with some excellent referrals for doctors in other specialties and some other Houston area recommendations. I used many of her referrals with great success. We recently moved out of Houston and Dr. Tjoa connected me with a dentist in our new town! She is great. I'd been looking for the right dentist for a while and I was so lucky to find BRSH. First, their offices are gorgeous and make you feel like you are at a spa or lounge. All of the staff members are beyond nice and welcoming, especially April. I usually have Sally as my hygienist. She is extremely thorough, super knowledgeable and very patient with my anxiety. She's also funny and makes the experience fly by. Last time, due to scheduling issues, Sabrina did my cleaning. I couldn't believe how gentle was since I'm so sensitive ... and anxious :( I've heard all of the hygienists are great and you can't go wrong. Dr. Tjoa is a joy and does a wonderful job of explaining things in an understandable way and offering real solutions. She has a great demeanor and makes the visit pleasant. From booking my first appointment until the end of my visit, this has easily been one of the most pleasurable dental visits I've had in my life. Upon entry, it looks as a luxury interior design store but nonetheless it is indeed a dentist office unlike any other. The staff were smiling, kind and informative. My dental hygienist, Michelle, was thorough, knowledgeable, and provided quality care for my teeth. She explained in detail what she was doing and why she was doing it. I must say my teeth have never felt cleaner. Dr. Tjoa is friendly, precise, and created a home-like feel from the decor to the staff while maintaining professionalism. I have been going to BRSH Dental for about 3 years now after being recommended by a friend. The place is wonderful from the beginning when you book an appointment to the end when you are finished with your service. Location: Located on the 2nd floor in the Upper Kirby shopping center where Tootsie's is. Very easy to find and get to! Plus, if you need to run any other errands, you are close to everything. Parking: EASY! There is free self parking in the garage which is a huge plus. During lunchtime and dinner time it may get a little busy, but I've always been able to locate a spot in the basement. Atmosphere: This isn't your regular dentist office... you walk in and think you might be in a really nice plastic surgeon's office. Very nicely decorated and always clean. Front Desk Staff: April is the receptionist and she is always nice and easy to work with. If you are having any work done, she quickly comes up with an out of pocket expense report based on insurance coverage. This is really nice because there isn't a surprise bill at the end. Hygienist: This is what makes me come back every time. Nym is the BEST! A friend specifically recommended him about 3 years ago and I have been getting my teeth cleaned and healthified by him ever since. He is very gentle and extremely knowledgeable about different products and techniques to address any problems. He also is extremely friendly and easy to have a conversation with! Even though I only see him a few times a year, he always remember what I have been up to. Tech: I had to a have a night guard made because I grind my teeth at night. Naturally my teeth were difficult to get a good impression of, but the staff was extremely nice and accomdating of my schedule since I had to go back a couple of times for impressions or to try on the nightguard. They definitely wanted to get me a product that fit well and did it's job. Plus every time you go in for a cleaning, they will clean your night guard for free which is nice. Dentist: Dr. Tjoa is very friendly and thorough. I haven't had any procedures that have required too much interaction, but when she comes to check on any problem spots she has always been great. Who likes going to the dentist? The sight of the metal scraper, the sound of the dental drill, the feel of a numbing needle, having to suck on a tube to get rid of fluids in your mouth, the lectures about flossing. Is it safe to answer "no one?" But we all have to go sometime, I have been a loyal patient of Dr. Tjoa's for four years now and don't plan on going to another dentist while I am in Houston. Her office is not even near me, but I make the drive into town to see her and her knowledgeable and friendly staff. Dr. Tjoa and staff know their stuff and utilize the latest state of the art technology to diagnose and explain everything to you so you can understand it. They welcome questions in case you don't. They give you alternative treatment plans depending on your goals and financial situation. If you need a crown, they sometimes can even get it done without the need for a temporary. BRSH Dental may not be your cheapest option. Hopefully you have a good dental insurance provider. The staff does a good job of providing estimates and telling you the likelihood that a claim will go through. You get your money's worth though and I am satisfied with the checkups, cleanings, and work I have had to get done at Dr. Tjoa's. The new office is really posh and nice. On the one hand, you think to yourself, "so this is where my money is going." On the other hand, the office offers cosmetic dentistry, so it does reassure you that they are concerned about and good at making things look good, whether it be their elegant work environment or your smile. All of my appointments have ended with a couple of fresh baked cookies greeting me at the receptionist's desk on the way out. Don't worry. You get a bag with a toothbrush, mini-tube of toothpaste, and floss to make sure that cookie doesn't create any new cavities. read more

Finally! A positive (and dare I say luxurious?) dental experience. I really had no idea, until I met Dr. Tjoa and her dental hygienist Sabrina, of what a thorough examination and cleaning felt like. You see, I thought it was the norm to feel miserable and rushed through the examination and not really have your questions answered. I also thought it was normal to spend more time sitting in the waiting room meeting with the doctor (ugh, clinics). I now know that Dr. Tjoa and her staff not only ensure you are comfortable but they are upfront about costs, don't make you wait a ridiculous amount of time and they are courteous enough to thoroughly answer your questions and address your concerns. Dr. Tjoa's office is amazing! I was looking for a dentist in town for a while and finally found her - she's located in the Montrose area within big shopping center complex (2nd floor across a walkway from Pondicherri), so there's always more than enough covered garage parking when I visit. I've had appointments with two hygienists, Cherri and Nym, both of whom are incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and easy to talk to. Both were also very invested in my long-term dental care and also open to teaching me more about my current conditions and options for treatment. Everyone on staff that I've interacted with (Cherri, Nym, Dr. Tjoa, Dana, April, and Noemi) has been incredibly friendly and patient with my questions and concerns, which can be hard to find in any dental provider. I've been seeing Dr. Tjoa for about 9 years. She saved my teeth!! After repeated cavities in my late teens and early twenties, I was referred to Dr. Tjoa by a friend and she explained how my bite had worn down the enamel on my teeth. My previous dentist had continued to fill my cavities, telling me my teeth were fine and I was probably just grinding at night. A year of braces and I haven't had cavities since!! Everyone at this office is wonderful. The front office staff are well organized and friendly, and you will not get a better cleaning anywhere; the hygienists at this dental office are both knowledgeable and very thorough. Just switched to brsh. I had a crown and deep cleaning procedure done. They had me in and out in a couple of hours. The staff is very friendly and explained every step of the process. The office is well appointed and they even give patients movie glasses so that you don't have to stare aimlessly while getting work done. I've never felt loyal to a dentist, but do now. I have been a patient of Dr. Tjoa's for about 6 years now. I have had nothing less than A+ treatment since day one. Dr. Tjoa is super friendly with a joyful character all around but at the same time knowledgeable, professional, and to the point. What I like the most, it that I am always kept well informed of my treatment, Dr. Tjoa always lets me know exactly what I need and why. I never feel pressured, all treatment decisions have always been mine, 100%. My hygenist Nym is, in my opinion, the best of the best. Not only is he patient, kind, and relaxed but he is absolutely fantastic at what he does, always very gentle and attentive.
