I have waited 3 years to review this shop. I have a Jag XKR that they attempted to finalize repairs…read moreon forever. Car had approximately $9k of work performed including expensive active suspension components replaced. Car was in shop for 3 months originally to complete. Car's front bumper cover was damaged during this time and attempted repair (local body shop) took 3 visits over 3 additional months to finalize poor respray and clearcoat. During this 6 month period the replaced lower front control arms (forward bushings) failed. They attempted repair, replacement of the arms 4 times over a year plus period of time. All replaced arms also failed constantly. I discussed in detal with shop manager that the quality of the replacement arms was not consistent with the Jag OE part. After I reviewed the supplier they used for all replaced chassis parts it was determined that this supplier only sold cheap aftermarket parts and could not supply OE quality parts. I also determined the pricing on these non OE parts had been increased to match the much higher OE Jag pricing. The shop refused to use the Jag OE lower control arms required to fix the issue of premature failure on the control arms. All parts pricing on the cheaper non OE parts was increased to match or exceed Jag pricing by this shop. Their hourly shop charge was priced at $230 dollars which also increased over the 3 year period. This is the highest per hour shop rate in the central Florida area. I have over 30 years of aftermarket experience in management of major account distribution and supply of parts. I have represented all major US auto manufacturers with OE original internal engine and chassis parts at manufacturers level. I have represented all foreign car manufacturers with their US non OE replacement parts also. I have years of experience with JAGCARSLTD regional aftermarket management in OE Jag parts distribution and dealer parts replacement. I felt I had seen it all in this industry. This shop has set a new low in all categories of service.

I have known about Star Import for a while now, and have used them before for some A/C work…read more This time around, my A/C was definitely out, a year after it had been serviced for the A/C coolant escaping. When I had that service a year ago, we had placed a tracer dye in the system so that we could (hopefully) figure out where the leak actually came from. This time around, we found it, or at least we think it has been found. Turned out to be a couple of seals that had probably gone bad, so they were serviced when I brought the car in. It took them about three hours to perform the entire process, from diagnosis to completion of service. The shop is a Mercedes specialist, and they know the cars well. The prices are right, and the customer service is good. So long as I own a Mercedes, this will be the place it goes to for work.

This is a family-owned place, and I always love to support local and family places…read more I was recommended this place by a colleague and read all the reviews online. They are exceptional! They tell you exactly what you need and nothing more. Their pricing is very competitive in that I believe it was fair and service was good. They provide you with a quote and breakdown via text message that leads to a website with price of parts and labor for each thing. You could even text their number, which was great. The main reason why I am only giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of communication. When I called about my car that was towed there, I asked about turnaround and expectations. Now, when I got there, they had a lot of cars in their lot. I definitely did not mind that it took longer than expected. I didn't call or check-in every day but I did try to get updates bc I needed to know if I needed to get a rental. I wasn't given turnaround time and with the games and events happening in Gainesville it got too late for me to get a rental. I honestly felt like they were purposefully not answering me or answering me at the end of the work day. I know I could've just gotten it but one of team members I know was truly trying to save me money by telling me to hold off on getting a rental until I heard from them. I ended up not getting a rental which was difficult with work. I ended up asking for some leniency at work and would bike (which was scary on Archer), but it was fine. I am very grateful and would definitely come here again but now I just have no expectations with regard to their communication.
