I ultimately chose powder brows, and Soy's technique is amazing--meticulous, natural-looking, and beautifully done, even over previous pigment. She carefully considered my face and eye shape, and made sure everything looked balanced and soft rather than harsh. I have sparse brows and had microblading done years ago by a different artist, but I hesitated to do anything again because it came with a long recovery and scabbing, and I didn't want downtime that would interfere with my workout schedule. With Soy's technique, however, recovery was minimal with no scabbing, and I like that my brows are basically ready to go every morning. It saves me a ton of time. I recently got my brows powdered at Soy's, and I had a really great experience with her! When I entered, I thought her office was very clean and organized. When we started my consultation, I thought she was very professional, drawing/sketching my eyebrows for at least an hour as she asked me to move around and change lighting to ensure the shape of my brows would look good from all angles. In addition, she asked me for pictures of my eyebrows with makeup and questions about my skin type and skin care. I thought Soy really took the time to make sure my eyebrows looked as good as they could. After the procedure, I was really satisfied with my eyebrows. I have always struggled with having very thin, light-colored eyebrows since I was young, which I would usually try to put makeup on to cover them. I am very precise with what i want for my brows or anything on my face. So i was really sad that my brow shape faded over time when i went on a trip to korea last year, i had them done but not only they faded.. they turned reddish color When i looked over yelp i saw some of soys work sort of reminded me of what i liked. I took my mom here to get her brows tattooed for the first time and loved how patient and knowledgeable Soy was in explaining the procedure and what would work best for my mom based on her brow sparseness and skin. Soy took her time to map out and design my mom's brows and recommended the combo brows (misty powder with some microblading strokes in the beginning of her brows) and my mom loved how it turned out! I think the brows look really natural and suits my mom's face. It was my first time getting the brow powder and it was a very pleasant experience. No pain at all. It was very relaxing and I was asleep for most of it. She was very good at explaining things and I've been told that she has very fair prices. I suggest that you should already have a good idea of what kind of brow you want. I came in a little unprepared for that, but Unhui helped guide me towards the shape they are now and I LOVE my eyebrows. My More Detailed Review: At the beginning of the appointment, she explained what the process will be like and checked out my brows. Then, she asked me some questions about my skin, my skincare routine, and how I usually do my make up. Based on how you answer the questionnaire, she'll make a recommendation for what type of brow service to do. Then, she spent a long time making sure my eyebrows were marked evenly and the shape looked good on me. I loved that she attentively listened to my wants and adjusted the shape according to the look I wanted to achieve. She will make you stand in multiple places to make sure the brows look good from any distance and perspective. When it came time to doing my brows, she put on the numbing cream, explained the procedure, and gave me a nice, warm blanket. Her place wasn't super cold but I get cold very easily, so I was super appreciative of her kind gesture. Then she got to work. I felt no pain, nothing. I knocked out for the rest of the time because she was so gentle, quiet, and peaceful, even when she woke me up. Finally, she'll do some touch ups to make sure that the color and shape is perfect. She will also send you home with instructions on how to care for the brows and the tattoo cream. If you follow her instructions, it's SUPER easy to take care of them post-tattoo. It says that the brow color might fade a little during the healing process, but I didn't notice anything. But it's different for everyone. Can't wait to go back for my touch up. I naturally have fair skin and hair and would have to paint in my eyebrows every morning and then be concerned throughout the day if I had both of my eyebrows done. For me, she recommended micro-shading; the needle doesn't go as deep (less pain, yay!) and the results are softer, more like what you'd get from using brow powder (and the results can still be as dramatic as you want or like them to be). I also like Soy, as a person. Soy is gentle, and a perfectionist, as other reviewers noted, attentive to detail and symmetry of face and brows, so prepare to settle in for a time. I have wanted to get my eyebrows microbladed for the longest time, but had a few deterrents. First, I've heard that microblading fades quickly for those who have oily skin and I have extremely oily skin. Second, I've heard how painful it was. Lastly, I've seen how harsh it looks after the initial treatment and how long the healing process takes. I didn't want to go out in the world with dark and scabby eyebrows for two weeks! I was recommended to Soy a year ago by my aesthetician June (Facials by June) who I highly trust, and I am eternally grateful for! For my oily skin, Soy did a Korean tattooing technique called "Misty Powder." She first talks to you about your desired shape and measures and draws out your eyebrows. I provided a lot of input for the shape. The end result is very natural looking as opposed to the standard eyebrow tattoo people have gotten in the past. I could barely feel the procedure. She puts numbing cream and I would compare it to light, repetitive taps with a pencil. Also, there was virtually no downtime. She gives you a cream to put on your eyebrows twice a day for the healing process, but overall it looks natural in comparison to microblading! The eyebrows are slightly more pigmented than the actual color it will fade to for the first week, but that was fine with me since I prefer my brows darker. Many of my friends didn't even notice. One year later, I went for my touch up and even then my eyebrows were still pigmented and not entirely faded. This is so amazing to me because I have never met anyone with oilier skin than me. Highly recommend Brows by Soy. 1) She follows all health and safety measures during these covid times. 2) She does not consider her job completed until she has made sure my brows were shaped to BOTH our satisfaction. Three appointments and a total of 7-8 hours. The two initial trips are included in the total cost, but the third one was free because she truly truly wanted to make some minor tweaks to meet her perfectionist goals. Disclaimer: not for the super busy and impatient. 3) Her eye for understanding and shaping my brows based on my bone structure and facial features was reassuring. At first I felt my eyebrows were shaped slightly crooked, but upon completion I realized what she was doing and her expert skills set me at ease. She was taking into account how I raise my eyebrows and how one eye was a tiny bit larger than the other. What a masterful artist she was !!! 4) She was easy to chat with and she also knew when to be completely focused on microblading and/or micro-shading.
