Ok. So my friend of many many years goes here, and my old hairstylist is right across the hall, so…read moreI decided to tag along with her and get a mani/pedi too. She goes and she gets just a regular manicure and pedicure and pays $40, which is ok I guess. I sent her a picture of what I wanted to send to Kim, who is the K in K & M. I always go to Virginia Nails here and get my solar nail gels on. I was looking for a rainbow glitter nail. My friend sit my pic to her and she said she could do it. I sent the picture because this place is in the Salons on Alma and it's super small, just two pedicure chairs and a couple of tables. Nothing wrong with being small, but the suite was very dirty and cluttered and not at all inviting. Only one nail brush. I got there and she doesn't even know what solar nails are. Ugh. She also doesn't get what rainbow means: she immediately shows me purple glitter. That's cool, but it's not very multicolored. She said it would be once we put it on. Wrong. First off, she put some weird color changing polish on underneath the purple powder. (Why did she make me soak off the previous light gel? I usually just get it sanded off and then a new color put on.) it went on dark purple and now it's light blue. There are gaps all over the powder that the blue comes through and just makes it look unfinished. Also she didn't have the UV gel topcoat (she was out) so she buffed them. The feel of the nails don't feel like a professional job; it feels bumpy and uneven. I wasn't going to complain though, since my friend loves her, but today I find that my nails are chipping. I've NEVER had that happen with solar nail gel. So I have no clue what the heck she used. I'm mad. The pedicure was fine. I could go anywhere and get what she did done for cheaper. Another annoyance was that she told my friend she'd for us both in at the same time. Instead of getting my friend going with a soak in the pedicure tub or something, she did my entire pedicure and then my manicure AND then started my friend's. So she had to wait an hour and a half (she was SUPER slow) before even being touched. Then I had to wait the same amount. It was $60 for me. It took THREE HOURS. I'll never go back. Kim was nice enough and I love supporting small businesses, but this was a joke. Back to my regular nail place I go.

I have been going to Kim for 11 years. She is the best. Nails do not lift. Prices reasonable.read more

I have long, thick hair and I have always encountered choppy, uneven layers elsewhere. Marty is the only person in Texas I trust to give me a quality cut. He's a total perfectionist and takes his time. He doesn't ever rush you out the door. He's also a total sweetheart! Also, Marty has an amazing referral program where you get $20 off your cut for referring someone, and they get $20 off as well! I would definitely recommend Marty to anyone without getting credit though because he is just super talented. I've never gotten color done by Marty, so I can't speak to that service, but go see him if you want the best haircut of your life!

Shea is very professional. On the day of my appointment, I had anxiety and sent her a text saying…read morethat I was nervous. Instead of pressuring me to show up, Shea suggested that I take a couple days to become more comfortable if I needed to. It put me at ease. Fast forward, after arriving to my appointment (which she was about 15 minutes late to, but it was situational as she forgot her phone) Shea spent a good amount of time (an hour maybe two) drawing the shape of my brows, measuring my bone structure and adjusting to what I did and didn't like. The appointment didn't feel rushed for a split second. Shea made me feel as though I was the most important client she has ever had. Very caring in her attention-to-detail. She was friendly but focused and very eager to make sure I understood what she was doing, why, and understanding how I felt about it all. The first session looked incredible. Unfortunately, it faded almost completely within 5 days. That is because I didn't follow aftercare instructions, at all. Even though Shea told me repeatedly how to care for my brows. I didn't apply Vaseline after the second night. Maybe even the first. When I communicated my panic to her, she was responsive and attentive. She asked me questions, she asked for pictures, and she made me feel confident that she will get them touched up just right on my second session. Even though she had already been paid in full, it was very clear that she cared deeply about my satisfaction. The second session was just like the first, except this time I followed aftercare instructions. Now, a few months later, my brows are still completely as full as they were when I left her office. The aftercare makes a huge difference in their longevity. If you are going to do this, with Shea or anyone, FOLLOW THE AFTERCARE instructions otherwise you're wasting your money. Shea knows what she is doing. The way she bladed my brows is different than how I would have ever filled them in, but that's because I am not trained on how brows are supposed to lay and arch. I am glad she explained everything to me. Because brows are an art, you can't just shape the same form on everyone as everyone is shaped differently. She find the lines in your face and accentuates your eyes, cheekbones through brow contour. Without a doubt, this is worth the money. Waking up everyday to full brows that you don't have to do anything to, plus it seems like it takes years off my appearance. And it literally looks so natural that even when I get in my 5x cosmetic mirror I can't tell a difference between her work and my natural brow contour. Very grateful I went to Shea vs a different microblading artist.
