I chose Shafer Vision Care because they're covered by my insurance and are in my area and I'm so glad I did. The entire staff was very friendly and kind - I was greeted as soon as I came in and was taken back for my appointment nearly immediately. Dr. Shafer really took time to talk to me about the different tests that we did to check the health of my eyes as well as to check my vision. She talked to me about different options I have for my prescription. Finally, the office is so nice and welcoming - not really something that's important but is a nice bonus. I was so pleased with my experience and I definitely recommend them!

I have histoplasmosis scarring on the back of one eye, and the doc walked me through my eye images, explaining what that means and how it could potentially affect me in the future. I grew up going to yearly visits knowing I had this issue, but no one has ever taken the time to talk me through if, which I appreciate as someone with a working knowledge of anatomy. I want to know as much as I can about my own medical info, so I am really over the moon. Highly recommend!

I had an eye doctor's appointment on my lunch break earlier this week. This is my second visit to…read moreBogan Eyecare. I come here once a year for my eye exam. Every time I call or visit it's always a pleasure. I actually called the week before my appointment because I needed an emergency set of contacts (I had wearing my glasses at the gym) and Kim help a pair for me to pick up after I got off work. I was extremely appreciative and relieved. My eye exam went well. A pleasant surprise was that they don't have that machine that blows the air in your eye anymore (I HATE that thing). They have a new device that's a lot better and it doesn't blow any air whatsoever (yay, it's the little things). My prescription pretty much stays the same and everything checked out well. The doctor and staff was pleasant and Megan was amazing. She made I had my prescription on a little card so I can order my funky glasses AND she explained all my vision benefits. They also allowed me to take an old magazine home so I can try a lavender/lemon bar recipe. I told them if they turned out good I'd bring them some back. :) Overall the experience was easy and quick. I was seen right away and their customer service was amazing. I would definitely recommend Bogan Eyecare Center! Thanks for a wonderful experience...

Issues from the beginning. I gave them 2 stars honestly because the DR was actually very nice…read more Other than that, I will find a new Optometrist office. I was given a few samples to try out for contacts. On my third sample, I was good. We finalized my prescription, and I ordered the contacts. I received the contacts. They did not work. I contacted them to verify my prescription was correct. They said yes. I contacted the MFR and they sent me a new set of contacts. Still no good. I contacted the DRs office to get me prescription rechecked and they said "Sure, but it will cost you out of pocket". All I wanted was to verify the prescription. I was told nope. Sorry. So basically, I was out the cost of the contacts because they are unusable to me and unable to go see another DR unless I pay since I used my insurance visit for the year. Clearly, they did not update my prescription to the third sample and did not care to help me out. Plenty of other eye DRs out there.

The receptionist took all my information and was able to look up my eye care program quickly. I arrived early to pristine offices that required masks. The waiting room was stocked with a wide range of frames so I perused while I waited. Chelsea, one of the techs, took me back and performed my tests. She was efficient and friendly and made me feel at ease. All the equipment is new. Dr. Meret Thomas Huebler is a new optometrist in the practice. She was outstanding to work with. She studied my tests and carefully described the outcome and significance. She listened to my concerns and was able to provide me will options that I understood. She took time with me but was efficient and professional. Check out was easy and mostly covered by insurance. I'll definitely make Zionsville Eyecare my go-to for all my family eye needs.

If you go to him, he probably will be able to successfully perform an eye exam and write a prescription for whatever you need, as well as give you recommendations on what products to use. He gets two stars for this. Dr. McVeigh's "bed-side manner" is not that great. If you're at all uncomfortable or nervous, he's probably not going to put you at ease, and in fact the way he communicates with you might make you even more nervous. He gets no stars for this. If his bedside manner was just unremarkable, I'd give him one star for this. If it was spectacular, I'd give him two. I get contacts every year for the last five years now. Every year I have to re-pay for a "fitting". When I questioned why, when I wear the exact same contacts every year, do I have to pay for a fitting that my insurance doesn't cover, they could not provide any good explanation. I can understand the very first year, when they had to try three different contacts before they found the one that was most comfortable for me this was required, but year after year the "fitting" part of the exam that I am paying for out of pocket is literally just "so, you want contacts again?" "yep" "ok, I'll just keep you in the ones your in". Why am I paying $140 for this? He gets no stars for this. They "gave" me "free" sunglasses that were an "$80 value". I prefer the $6 sunglasses I bought at Kroger over their paltry selection. I can get polarized sunglasses for $20 somewhere else, and they were way more than that here (for polarized). They don't even look good. Plus they mingle the men's and women's sunglasses (and glasses as far as I can tell) and there aren't enough mirrors. I didn't even bother with more than a cursory glance at the glasses after my experience with the sunglasses. I can get glasses online way easier and more comfortably than the glasses here (let alone buy them, which I didn't even bother doing).
