Still, when a place is worthy I'll take the time to write about it. This place is worthy. I'm a Southern girl, raised on fried chicken, so you should pay attention to this review for that reason, if no other. I no longer live in Georgia, but I know a good Southern spot when I see it, and when I find one I make a point of stopping when I'm passing through. This place is small, out in the country in south Georgia, completely unassuming, but what they do they do VERY well. The fried chicken is spot on, second only to my mother's, and hers was the pinnacle to which all others should be compared. The fried okra is perfect, absolutely delicious - I would say it's like eating candy, but I don't give two hoots about candy. The potato salad is creamy and yummy as hell. The sweet tea is perfect. We had some other dishes, but those are the ones I'd recommend. Nice ladies at the counter, 2 picnic tables outside for "eat in," though most business seems to be drive-through/take out. If you love fried chicken done right, then be sure to make a stop here!

You walk in get in line and they ask what you want. This Tuesday they had: Fried chicken, Salisbury steaks in gravy, pot roast, shepherds pie. Veggies were French fries, rice, mashed potatoes, turnip greens, rice, creamed corn, green beans, black eyed peas, fried okra and then your choice of biscuit or a cornbread pancake (Ho cake). Plus they had peach cobbler. 2 of us got the Salisbury steaks one got the fried chicken and one got the pot roast. We all got the cornbread pancake and 3 of us got the peach cobbler and all got drinks. It was $60 for the 4'of us. Which I think was a pretty good deal. I spoke to the lady and she stated her they always have the fried chicken but the meats and veggies will change daily. They will sometimes have chicken and dumplings, rutabaga, on Fridays they'll have fried fish. I will definitely come back. By 11:40 when we were gonna leave the place was pretty packed. You can get your food to go or sit down. This has to be a pretty popular local place. There was an order for 15 when they opened. I will definitely visit again when we are in the area!

He had fried shrimp and I had parm crusted "grouper." Neither had seasoning...not even salt. Mine tasted like plain baked swai or tilapia...it wasn't grouper. The twice baked potato was cold after waiting on our food for forever and it tasted and felt like it had been sitting up under a heating lamp for a WHILE. It was like leather. The cook actually brought it to the second pickup window himself and even stopped to make small talk. Already, it felt like home. Now, I didn't even ask for it that way, but when I said, "Casey, y'all knew to fry the okra hard?" she laughed and said, "Girl, in these woods, everybody wants the okra fried hard!" But they just told us & said it would only be about 5-10 minutes more... NOPE!!! 20 minutes later, (almost an hour AFTER we ordered)we finally get food.. because of food allergies NOW our Son-in had to now get his food cooked in the back.. BECAUSE OF SO MUCH FOOD, there was MANY problems. 1)I have a SEVERE food allergy, he didn't put ANY sauces on my food except soy sauce. So I asked for eel sauce.. they charged me .75 for each side of the sauce dish (1.50) 2) Sauces: They didn't give any one sauces EXCEPT.. Yum Yum & ginger.. no teriyaki.. 3) Rice: He only put 5 eggs (which were brown as soon as he started mixing them up.) for 16 people in the rice that was very crunchy & didn't have enough soy sauce or butter. (On carrots, onions combo) As he gave a scoop of rice to every person. Rice was dropping on the floor. (The same for ANYTHING he had to give to the other table) 4) The vegetables: I have problems chewing so I asked for him to cook my vegetables a little more. When I got them everything was charred & crispy because he didn't add enough liquid to keep it moist. 5.) Sushi: my daughter ordered 2 rolls. She got one because they were out of the Neuro roll. (How??-) 6) MEAT: A)they didn't take tails off of shrimp. B) chicken & steaks were cut in LARGE pieces. C)My grandson 11, had to try to cut up his steak, which was supposed to be MR & was extremely rare. Mine was supposed to be M, but came out MR. The other 3 on our table, the dad asked for MW,, came out like mine, BUT his son who was supposed to be Well Done.. was REALLY over done. He couldn't eat it!! 4) Refills: you got free refills for sodas & water BUT- HOT tea.. NO. They only gave me 1/2 kettle (2 cups worth). They didn't tell me so when I asked for more... yep, they charged me for it... 5) HE DID NOT scrape the grill OR clean off the fork or spatula between the vegetables, rice, eggs, or meats.. so all teriyaki sauces & left over pieces from previous cooking (done on the same area) was still one the grill. So if I was was allergic to the sauces - which he didn't know if had tomato products in it was cooked on & given to me was on it, it would have killed me.. so I didn't eat it!! 6) We were NOT given any apologies or discount for waiting so long.. 7) Tipping: They charged us ALL 18%.for a tip!! We waited 1 hour for our food!! Our daughter was finished eating her sushi before we got our food, My daughter only ate sushi, grand daughter only a drink, & our son-in-l had to have his food cooked in the back because of the other table being cooked in the back!! & the food was AWFUL & service was so-so!! It was NOT WORTH 18%. I could give 0 stars I could!! Do NOT go here for the grill!!
