Between the food that makes you physically I'll and the $11 mimosas this is by far the worst sports grill I have ever been too. The chicken Cesar wrap was tolerable. The chowder was the consistency of lukewarm yogurt that's been left out on the kitchen counter. The Philly cheese steak sandwich tasted like they deep fried thin sliced spam and then dried it out on the sidewalk. The prices were a spit in the face for the quality of food we were given. If you want to punish your little league team for losing this is the place for you. The service was the only redeeming quality of this jersey covered circus. The waitress was nice enough and made pleasant small talk. The tacky, dust covered jersey's and beer signs are a good reminder as you walk to set the standard.

They started wanting to mop & seated us at a table on the edge so they could start their closing procedures, and it wasn't even that late. You could hear the kitchen arguing then laughing. Food is meh mediocre at best. Other than being forced to sit at one of the edge tables so they could start mopping, I think the wait staff was fine, although the noise from the kitchen sucked. All that said, I wouldn't go back. And IMHO it's not the fault of any one waitress, it's management's fault. FWIW this review is by a local during winter. Your summer experience as a guest to Alaska may likely be very different.

The family moved to Alaska in 1968. By 1976 two lots were purchased in downtown Kenai and the family took on the construction project to build a big home. When five years later Irene found herself an empty-nester there came the B&B idea, Irene's Lodge was founded and is now celebrating over 30 years in business as the first B&B open on the Kenai Peninsula. With our love of the outdoors came the idea to start Alaska Guides. Fishing for salmon in the Kenai River was what the family had done every summer. Guide fishing along with guests staying at the B&B was a perfect fit. Hundreds of guests have come and stayed at Irene's Lodge many of whom do repeat visits. Irene's Lodge B&B is only open three months of the year. June through August is our visitor season. These three months are the most beautiful time of the year with long day light hours. The B&B location is perfect for setting up as your home base - go fishing or join one of our many day trip adventures. There are so many interesting things to do and see on the Kenai Peninsula that there is sure to be an adventure day for everyone. I was shocked since it was the morning we were heading out. But Steve explained to me that another guy he knew was having better luck and he hadn't done too well the day before. So, reluctantly, I took Steve's advice and fished with another guide. We all limited! Wow... I called Steve two days later and thanked him. He told me he was on the fish now so I booked another day with him. This time, I fished with three other guys. We were on fish all day. Steve knew the Kenai. We hooked about 8 fish but two of the guys in the boat were not good fisherman and lost several. After these two turkeys were ready to head back early (I hadn't had a bite yet), Steve obliged them. I was sick. Then, Steve offered to take me back out (at like hour no 7 of the day). I jumped on the chance! We motored to a new section of the river and Steve pulled out the secret weapon. We pounded some good water until finally I got the bite I was looking for. I hooked a 42# hen and had a fantastic fight ending in my best king yet! I can't say enough for Steve. He knows his craft as well as anyone I have ever fished with. He's in it for all the right reasons! If you're fishing the Kenai penninsula, you should be so lucky as to fish with McClure!

We arrive and the line of folks waiting for seating is quite long and disorganized. Eventually someone comes out and tells everyone to all their name to the list of people that is accumulating. Hmm... this does not bode well. We wait about a half hour for our name to be called. When we are finally seating or drinks come promptly, but then we are forgotten for over 10 minutes. No one mentions them being out of anything. And of course, they're out of the one thing I want. Now I'm pissed. And I'm hearing they say its going to be about a 45 minute wait. We're starving. I should also mention, I am an VERY patient person. But as a basic standard, I do expect restaurant staff to communicate regarding delays and if they are out of things. Send help. I don't know if we are ever going to eat. Look for the skeletons setting toward the back of the restaurant. ‐‐----------------- Update: Upgrading from 1 star to 1.5 since we finally ate. The food was fine. I see why everything takes so long- way too much time on presentation for diner food. It was fine, but absolutely not worth the wait. Like at all. It was a chef salad, and a french toast not a work of art. These things should not involve a greater than one hour wait. And they forgot my salad dressing, so I had to track down the waitress to request it. Dear lord, help me. Cannot recommend.

Everything is setup well and is situated in a great location! Unfortunately, service was awful! We ordered quickly and paid our tab up front ($60 for two chicken sandwiches and a basket of fries - including voluntary 18% tip, but not full-service dining). They gave us a pager and we found seats. Over the next 30 minutes we saw everyone getting food but us. I finally asked the status (politely) and got a seemingly annoyed response. I was told our order was next in line. I waited another 10 minutes and saw 3 more people served (who ordered way after us). I returned to check again and got a deep sigh and rolling eyes (mind you, it's been over 40 minutes at this point). They checked with their cook and he hadn't even started it. We were headed to airport and needed to get going, so when I pressed for an ETA he grumbled it'd be 5 minutes at most. It took 11 more minutes, which put our total wait at 51 minutes from time of order. We were never offered a discount, refund, or even an apology - VERY disappointing!!! The food was okay - but not worth that wait or frustration. We definitely won't be returning.
