Went for breakfast on 7/15 to try place out. Place was busy had good amount of seating and was clean. Was seated fast. Servers were a bit on slow side, took a while to take out orders. We kept seeing them talking to each other and didnt get refills on drinks till we were done. We ordered Denver omelette and the pancake 2x2x2. The omelette was fantastic pretty big and country potatoes were awesome as well. The pancakes were delicious and eggs were cooked as ordered and bacon was really good thick cut. I ordered decafe and was sad to find it comes in a teabag and no refills on it. Food is really good and I'd go back again! read more

Located inside the mall, this place is a hidden gem. Open before mall hours, parking is in the back. Small, maybe a dozen tables but a great vibe. Fast friendly service too. Portions are massive and food was great. The skillets are enough for two or three people! Must try. read more

I read online about how great this place is and how wonderful the service and especially good the biscuits and gravy is. We arrive and the line of folks waiting for seating is quite long and disorganized. Eventually someone comes out and tells everyone to all their name to the list of people that is accumulating. Hmm... this does not bode well. We wait about a half hour for our name to be called. When we are finally seating or drinks come promptly, but then we are forgotten for over 10 minutes. No one mentions them being out of anything. And of course, they're out of the one thing I want. Now I'm pissed. And I'm hearing they say its going to be about a 45 minute wait. We're starving. I should also mention, I am an VERY patient person. But as a basic standard, I do expect restaurant staff to communicate regarding delays and if they are out of things. Send help. I don't know if we are ever going to eat. Look for the skeletons setting toward the back of the restaurant. ‐‐----------------- Update: Upgrading from 1 star to 1.5 since we finally ate. The food was fine. I see why everything takes so long- way too much time on presentation for diner food. It was fine, but absolutely not worth the wait. Like at all. We stopped in at about 830 AM on a Thursday after an early (and successful) fishing trip. The restaurant was empty of customers so we got seated immediately. Service was prompt, but not especially friendly. It almost felt like they were annoyed we were there. But the food was delivered super fast after ordering and was friggin' delicious. The biscuits and gravy were fantastic, as were the hash browns. Coffee was fresh, and didn't taste like cheap diner coffee. Overall, a great meal! We will return. read more

This is the 2nd time I've eaten at Gingers. Pros: Portions are large, food is good, and service was fast. I've only ever eaten their breakfast items, but I'm sure their lunch is also tasty. From experience, I can definitely recommend the skillets, steak and eggs, and the pancakes. Probably will be my go to spot for breakfast in Soldotna. Cons: Nothing really except for maybe the coffee. I'm used to the taste of Kaladi Brothers, so the coffee was just meh. Maybe it wasn't fresh ‍, but it was caffeine and warm, so it was still palatable. read more

The spot has a funky Alaskan vibe in an old mall and it's comfortable. The waitress was great, not an easy task when you're serving a weekend crowd and a jr hockey team. The food was awesome. This is a small cafe in a large shopping mall that has multiple entrances. You can't see it from the road or much of the large parking lot. The mall has a Sportsman Warehouse near it in the same parking lot. It does have an entrance near it but if you enter one of the other entrances just check the mall maps or ask a friendly local. I don't want you to miss this fine restaurant if you are hungry and in the area. We went there for breakfast prior to going fishing with a group of six. It was no problem for the friendly waitress to put two tables together to quickly seat us. Water and menus quickly followed and we all ordered different meals. I took pictures of some of the meals before my hungry companions destroyed them. The coffee and drinks came just after ordering and the meals all were served correct within 20 minutes. I was impressed because the restaurant was busy and with two waitresses and one cook the orders were served promptly with no errors. Son ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, home fries and two eggs. It was generous in size and he devoured it quickly. He said it was hot and excellent. My wife ordered the short stack of pancakes with fresh strawberries and ice cream. The ice cream was not on the menu but she has a fetish for ice cream on pancakes and waffles. She always asks and will change her order if they don't have the ice cream. One time when traveling we stopped for breakfast at a Waffle House restaurant and she wanted a waffle with ice cream and they didn't have it. I knew my day would be much better if she had her waffle. I told her to order and asked the waitress if I could get the ice cream would it be ok for her to put it on her waffle. I ran next door to a large gas station with a shop mart in it and bought a pint of ice cream out of their cold case and returned while the cook was preparing of meals. The waitress added the ice cream with a big smile and I tipped her very well. You may think I was crazy and a little overboard but I have been married to that same woman for over fifty years and any wife will appreciate the wild and crazy things you do for them whether large or small. Oops back the Gingers, the waitress was happy to add the ice cream to her pancakes with bacon and she was pleased. The pancakes were nicely browned with butter, whipped cream and of course two large scoops of vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries. Check out the picture. I had the Eggs Benedict with an egg, ham slices, on an English Muffin with a smooth and creamy Hollandaise Sauce. I order home fries as my side. The sauce was excellent, the egg cooked perfectly and the ham tasty. The English Muffin was the only small disappointment but minor. It was tough to cut with the knife and had the appearance and texture of a muffin slightly warmed, white and not toasted. I am not an expert on how the muffin is supposed to be cooked but I like mine toasted to a light brown and slightly crunchy so you can cut it with your fork. Otherwise the home fries were browned, crispy and perfect. Seasoned well and delicious. The other three friends had various meals that I can't recall in detail but no that they devoured them all and were pleased with their meals. The service was efficient, attentive, friendly, and highly professional. I would recommend this restaurant highly for breakfast for small groups, families or anyone desiring good food. I stopped by here a couple of Wednesdays ago for dinner with my father. We were staying in Soldotna for the week and I gave my dad a list of restaurants to choose from and for whatever reason he chose Gingers. It's located inside of mall near the back of the mall. Whenever you first enter there is a big dining room with tables which has a bar at the back. Since it wasn't very busy on the night that we were there, our waitress gave us our choice of seats and my dad picked a table that looked like it was going to be a booth. For dinner on this evening I decided to go with the missy sandwich with fries as my side. The menu described the sandwich as deep fried breaded chicken (or grilled if you want it healthier), bacon and guacamole on a bun. It came to the table with cheese on it and had lettuce and pickles on the side. The bun of this sandwich was toasted nicely and I loved both the guacamole and crispy bacon that came on top of the chicken. Sadly what I didn't really enjoy was the chicken as the texture of the chicken itself just wasn't right. It was tough which is a shame as the breading on it wasn't too bad. Meanwhile the fries here were alright, somewhat crispy on the outside and soft on the inside although there were some limp ones as well. The bottom line for me is that I might stop by here again in the future. While Gingers had some missteps for me, I did enjoy some of my food. read more

Stopped in for lunch. I had the grilled ham and cheese with beer battered fries. The sandwich was ok and the fries were hot and crispy. My son had a bacon cheeseburger with beer battered fries (topped with bacon and cheese) He really liked the burger and fries. The service was very friendly, fast,and attentive. Wish I'd known about Ginger's sooner. As such, this is based on one breakfast. I had the 2x2x2 Breakfast plate (2 eggs, 2 meat, 2 pancakes or biscuit & gravy). Everything was delicious except the pancake. Had a kind of floury taste. I was delighted with the home fries. I've been to too many places where the only clue they picked up on was that the dish involved potatoes. When I get back up there I'm trying other offerings. They'll probably get that 5th star out of me, but I won't award 5 stars based on one meal. read more

So glad we found this hidden gem! Service was super friendly and quick even though the server was busy on a Sunday morning. She was efficient and attentive. As far as food, Best chicken fried steak I've ever had! My bf got the omelette and it was delicious too. After we ordered I noticed there was corned beef hash as a special, we saw someone order it and it looked amazing. We got to talking to the owner and he made the experience even better, true Alaskan with the stories to prove it. Oh and for dessert, get the cheesecake!!!! I'm sad to be writing this review because I was so excited to try this place but sadly it just wasn't good. My husband got the chicken fried steak and I got the eggs Benedict with onion rings yes onion rings haha. It was right between breakfast and lunch and the onion rings sounded so good. Sadly all of the food was not good. The chicken fried steak was ok tasting because of the gravy on it was good but the steak itself was soggy like it had been cooked in oil that wasn't hot enough so it had a ton of grease under it on the plate. The eggs Benedict were just yuck I don't even know how to explain and the onion rings were just weird. They were crispy on the outside but once you bit into them they were super watery and bland. I didn't eat much of my food and I don't think we will be going back. I always feel bad writing bad reviews but I also have to be honest. I will say that our waitress was amazing so sweet and she was always checking on us and keeping our drinks filled and she was the only one there and it was busy so thanks you Kami for the great service. read more

Wonderful cafe hidden in the back inside the mall. We called ahead to see if they had fish and chips and could accommodate 9 people. We were told yes! We showed up and a table for 9 was set up for us! The fish and chips were very good and huge portions....and the apple pie with ice cream for dessert!! Highly recommend!!! read more

Be prepared for sticker shock. They are way overpriced for the food they serve. I watched some poor guy order a half order of biscuit and gravy and received a tiny little biscuit with about 3 tablespoons of gravy and they charged him over $10. They need to price their food accordingly. A regular breakfast was over $20. read more
