Nice old school dinner style place with oldies but goodies playing. Food is a bit above average.

This is the 2nd time I've eaten at Gingers. Pros: Portions are large, food is good, and service was fast. I've only ever eaten their breakfast items, but I'm sure their lunch is also tasty. From experience, I can definitely recommend the skillets, steak and eggs, and the pancakes. Probably will be my go to spot for breakfast in Soldotna. Cons: Nothing really except for maybe the coffee. I'm used to the taste of Kaladi Brothers, so the coffee was just meh. Maybe it wasn't fresh ‍, but it was caffeine and warm, so it was still palatable.

THE GARBAGE OMELET with real Hollandaise and Sour Dough toast. A ton of eggs, perfect Hollandaise, cheeses, ham, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, spinach, green bell peppers, red bell peppers, and onions. Made for splitting. However big you think it is, it's BIGGER. PROBABLY THE BEST OMELET IN THE WORLD. Soldotna, Alaska. GINGER'S RESTAURANT. *****/*****.

This is a small cafe in a large shopping mall that has multiple entrances. You can't see it from the road or much of the large parking lot. The mall has a Sportsman Warehouse near it in the same parking lot. It does have an entrance near it but if you enter one of the other entrances just check the mall maps or ask a friendly local. I don't want you to miss this fine restaurant if you are hungry and in the area. We went there for breakfast prior to going fishing with a group of six. It was no problem for the friendly waitress to put two tables together to quickly seat us. Water and menus quickly followed and we all ordered different meals. I took pictures of some of the meals before my hungry companions destroyed them. The coffee and drinks came just after ordering and the meals all were served correct within 20 minutes. I was impressed because the restaurant was busy and with two waitresses and one cook the orders were served promptly with no errors. Son ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, home fries and two eggs. It was generous in size and he devoured it quickly. He said it was hot and excellent. My wife ordered the short stack of pancakes with fresh strawberries and ice cream. The ice cream was not on the menu but she has a fetish for ice cream on pancakes and waffles. She always asks and will change her order if they don't have the ice cream. One time when traveling we stopped for breakfast at a Waffle House restaurant and she wanted a waffle with ice cream and they didn't have it. I knew my day would be much better if she had her waffle. I told her to order and asked the waitress if I could get the ice cream would it be ok for her to put it on her waffle. I ran next door to a large gas station with a shop mart in it and bought a pint of ice cream out of their cold case and returned while the cook was preparing of meals. The waitress added the ice cream with a big smile and I tipped her very well. You may think I was crazy and a little overboard but I have been married to that same woman for over fifty years and any wife will appreciate the wild and crazy things you do for them whether large or small. Oops back the Gingers, the waitress was happy to add the ice cream to her pancakes with bacon and she was pleased. The pancakes were nicely browned with butter, whipped cream and of course two large scoops of vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries. Check out the picture. I had the Eggs Benedict with an egg, ham slices, on an English Muffin with a smooth and creamy Hollandaise Sauce. I order home fries as my side. The sauce was excellent, the egg cooked perfectly and the ham tasty. The English Muffin was the only small disappointment but minor. It was tough to cut with the knife and had the appearance and texture of a muffin slightly warmed, white and not toasted. I am not an expert on how the muffin is supposed to be cooked but I like mine toasted to a light brown and slightly crunchy so you can cut it with your fork. Otherwise the home fries were browned, crispy and perfect. Seasoned well and delicious. The other three friends had various meals that I can't recall in detail but no that they devoured them all and were pleased with their meals. The service was efficient, attentive, friendly, and highly professional. I would recommend this restaurant highly for breakfast for small groups, families or anyone desiring good food. I clicked on my photos looking for the pictures that I took after the checkin photo which is posted and they weren't there. I don't know what happened but if I find them I will add them sorry.

The breakfast here is absolutely incredible, homemade gravy, juicy burgers, and crispy frys. I highly recommend this restaurant.

It was our first visit to Ginger's. It was a busy time but not much of a wait. The food was excellent and we will be going back for sure.

The food was freaking amazing. The best chicken fried steak skillet I've ever eaten. The long wait for the food was worth it.

Between the food that makes you physically I'll and the $11 mimosas this is by far the worst sports grill I have ever been too. The chicken Cesar wrap was tolerable. The chowder was the consistency of lukewarm yogurt that's been left out on the kitchen counter. The Philly cheese steak sandwich tasted like they deep fried thin sliced spam and then dried it out on the sidewalk. The prices were a spit in the face for the quality of food we were given. If you want to punish your little league team for losing this is the place for you. The service was the only redeeming quality of this jersey covered circus. The waitress was nice enough and made pleasant small talk. The tacky, dust covered jersey's and beer signs are a good reminder as you walk to set the standard.

They started wanting to mop & seated us at a table on the edge so they could start their closing procedures, and it wasn't even that late. You could hear the kitchen arguing then laughing. Food is meh mediocre at best. Other than being forced to sit at one of the edge tables so they could start mopping, I think the wait staff was fine, although the noise from the kitchen sucked. All that said, I wouldn't go back. And IMHO it's not the fault of any one waitress, it's management's fault. FWIW this review is by a local during winter. Your summer experience as a guest to Alaska may likely be very different.

So, my neighbour has been nagging me for some time now to call in to "that place with the railcars"…read morejust outside of Soldotna, but I'd not yet been. Though she hadn't mentioned there was a restaurant, she raved about the coffee shop and waffles. So my friend and I were coming to Soldotna last weekend, and me, as usual, am frantically searching Yelp for something with 4/5 stars. Addie Camp came up as a contender, with a solid 4.7 stars, but I hadn't realised it was where the railroad cars are. So we decided to give it a go. What a beautiful area it is, once you get up into the parking lot! It's very neat and tidy, and all the little railroad cars surround the central parking lot. And there's really massive solar panels to the rear. I liked that. There was not a scrap of trash anywhere. Very inviting. So we head into Addie Camp, and I'm wowed. It's beautiful inside, cosy and welcoming, yet very modern. The staff are lovely. The hostess asked if we had a reservation, but as we didn't she invited us to sit at the bar. No problem! They have tables upstairs, and in a railroad car to the side. It's absolutely beautiful, and features a lot of warm wood, but not old wood, very light modern wood. I tell you, I'm in love with this place. Anyway so we sit at the bar, where Sam was mixing cocktails. Sam is very pleasing on the eye, I might add. He was using Fevertree Tonic in one of the cocktails, and I told him that Fevertree's Elderflower Tonic is one of my fave drinks ever, and he said he loved it too. Anyway, so upon perusing the menu - it's not a huge menu, but there are plenty of things I'll eat - I ordered the Gold Star Elk Burger with rosemary fries, and my friend got Gambas Al Ajillo (Spanish style wild Patagonia Shrimp in a spicy olive and herb citrus sauce served with fancy bread) and we both opted for a Train Track Tonic Mocktail, mainly because Sam the bartender told me he had elderflower syrup, and it was featured in one of the mocktails, so I was sold. The napkins are fabric, and the silverware is fancy, heavy, not your usual restaurant fare. I was quite impressed with how quickly we were served, because it was quite busy. The food itself was outstanding. The bacon jam in this burger is EPIC and it's not your usual tiny bacon crumbles, it had chunky bits of bacon, and was sweetly gooey, but savoury too, absolutely the best bacon jam I've had, and it just gave the already amazing burger a boost it didn't even really need. There's no way to eat this burger in a dainty ladylike fashion, it's a beast, and the bacon jam is messy, but I went with it, and Sam got us some extra napkins. About 3/4 of the way through, I had to go knife and fork on the burger. I wasn't leaving any of that thing. The fries were good, the burger good, the mocktail good, excellent service, very attentive. This is unquestionably THE best restaurant on the Kenai Peninsula, and I can't wait to come back with my husband, next time we're down there. And, I did see regulars come in and be treated like they were old friends. After my experience there, I can see why people would keep coming back, it's THAT good!
