The sales lady who lied to me her name is Jamie Hollingsworth and the sales manager for Brown Honda is Tom Hager and when I tried to address this issue with them, he was rude and insensitive and he could've cared less. I ended up getting to work with him and the reviews were correct he is down to earth and easy to work with. He lets the car sale it's self. I ended up purchasing a car from him. Went out of my way to drive a vehicle from another city to Amarillo in attempt to trade-in and buy a new car from Brown. When we arrived at the dealership, they refused to show us the car we were supposedly buying. Come to find out the car wasn't even on the lot. They yanked it off the lot when they found out we were driving there to potentially buy it. The car had been damaged and they didn't want us to see it. The next day, they were supposed to follow up with me about the car. Never happened. I followed up myself and Orlando passed me off to another salesman who attempted to work a whole new deal. When I addressed Orlando about not purchasing the car because of the level of service I was receiving. I was told " I understand have a great day". Will never attempt to use Brown Honda again. I had a great salesman, when purchasing the vehicle the finance guy John added a 4K warranty I did not want and he didn't even ask. beware when signing papers. the next week I asked to have the sticker removed from my vehicle as I do not like those on my cars. I was told NO from my sales person Page that he wouldn't have a tech remove it. I then went across the street to Bobby Duby and they gladly removed the sticker for me. I would not recommend this dealership after this experience. I am very disappointed, I was able to get the 4K warranty removed the next day. I do feel I was treated poorly when asking for the sticker to be removed. I don't need a reason as to why I don't like dealers stickers on my car. I have always had them removed and do not advertise for any company for free and that is my right. I think those stickers look cheap on vehicles and that is my personal opinion. read more

Worse Used car buying experience ever. Definitely buyer beware at this location. Purchased are used vehicle from this location two months ago. Within 24 hours vehicles check engine light brake control and cruise control malfunctions. I know that I purchased and as is. But after me and the family had purchased three new vehicles from this dealership with nothing but high praise for their integrity and business practices. Used on the other hand was a completely different situation. Bought a used vehicle from them for $13,000 maybe I paid a little bit too much for it but with their reputation of excellent integrity in customer service I thought it was worth it.And as I said within 24 hours figured out the car was definitely not worth it.. After two months of dealing with this substandard vehicle tried to let them make it right. Went to buy a different used vehicle from them with the substandard car for trade. And they offered me $2000 I for the vehicle. Reason being is because they picked up one at auction for that price. I'm assuming they picked up mine for that too and decided that 2000 to13,000 is a smaller profit dealer ship. As a teenager in my youth I've worked with buy here pay here dealerships that have more integrity and honesty then this dealership. Run don't walk don't do business with them. Their standard response from bad reviews is they're sorry they didn't meet the customers expectation. But they can save that for when they meet their maker. We were in Amarillo when our battery died in our CRV. Not knowing that Brown Honda was very close we had stopped at a Auto Zone for a battery. After it was replaced the car started and ran fine but we had numerous yellow lights flashing. Auto Zone said they couldn't fix it and they said we should go to a Honda dealer. Luckily Brown Honda happened to be a few blocks down the street from where we were. We were greeted by a service manager who said they would have to hook up a computer and clear the faults. We gave him the keys and went to the waiting area. We were only there a matter of minutes before he came back and said we were ready to go. I asked what we owed him and he said nothing. BUYER BEWARE! We purchased a vehicle through Brown Honda. In the agreement it was listed the vehicle and a second key fob. Conveniently, they did not have any extra fobs in stock that day, but reassured us we would have it within a week. At the time of sale, we signed an agreement for the vehicle and the 2nd fob. I did see the finance clerk scan it with the other records, yet we did not receive this paper in our paperwork. A fact we were not aware of until we needed to prove what was agreed on. We are now 4 weeks later. No additional key fob. They cannot find the paper we signed. The salesman that sold us the vehicle no longer works there. And the fill in representative is telling me "because they lost money" on the sale "they cannot help me". BUYER BEWARE! There were other issues as well. Megan was very diligent and helpful in following up with me on subsequent inquiries. That said, I live in New Mexico and found the truck of my dreams (a 2015 Ram 1500) online at their lot in Amarillo. Ramon and I texted back and forth as I got the details. He even did a test drive to check something for me. I put a refundable deposit down over the phone to hold the truck and my husband and I drove down at the end of the week. About a month ago I brought my car in to fix the power steering wheel so that I could pass a car inspection. At the same visit, they told me I needed to get a timing belt as well as some other maintenance requirements. The service total was about $1.8k to which both my mom and one of the service department people agreed on before. It ended up being $2.1k plus tax but that's where they get their other star. They worked with my mom to make it $1.8k. Everything seemed fine for a few weeks but the power steering wheel started making the same noise that it did before. I came in the waiting room at exactly 11:47AM after explaining the problem. It's 3:09PM now. I've gone up to them twice; the first time at 1:10PM asking how long it would take and if I could grab my backpack just in case they were going to be awhile. They told me they were going to look at it then. The second time was around 2:50PM to which they told me that they couldn't hear anything and that they were looking deeper just in case. There was one or two people when I came in and about ten others who came in and left after me. I was even the only person in the waiting room at one point. It's been a long three going on to four hours. If I was anyone else they'd probably already leave. At least tell me what's going on, don't leave me in a waiting room for an hour and a half with nothing to go on. I just want to know if there's anything wrong with it. Update: They finally came to get me ten minutes after I finished my review. They told me that they drove it around and there was nothing wrong. If I could give them zero stars I would. We were traveling through 6 hours away from home the check engine light came on and we stopped at an auto shop and they recommended us go to honda as they would be able to better help us with the issue. We called them to see if they could just take a look and tell us if we could continue to drive the car or if we should stop so nothing got worse. On the phone they said they could not help us or take 10 minutes of their day to take a look at the car due to being booked even though we let them know we weren't from around here and needed some help. After they said that could not help us, we at least asked if they knew someone else in town that could help and the said they were the only people that could help but could not get us in to take a look. You would think they'd help people out AT LEAST by letting them know if ANY OTHER mechanic shop around, but sadly they did not. Terrible customer service. read more

The service manager told me my Ford had a muffler and provided me with a safety inspection. I returned to Brown a year later to trade vehicles and I was informed the Ford did not have a muffler. I can't say enough about the tremendous personal and professional service that Southwest Honda and especially Steve Parrish provided us on Saturday, 21 January. No one expects their alternator to fail during a cross-country move and when ours did, on a late Friday evening in central Texas, 1500 miles from our start and our destination, we were resigned to a long trip. Once our car was towed from Groom, TX to your door-step at Southwest Honda Friday evening, our day brightened, beginning with Bobby. Bobby was trying to get home when I stopped him and asked about early-bird drop off for the next day. He took extra time to not only help me through the process but look under the hood and do some preliminary diagnostics. On Saturday, my 8:00 am call was met by Steve and his staff with enthusiasm and they were able to diagnose the problem, find a suitable part, remove/replace, test and have us on the road by 10:00 am. Steve even called me an hour into the drive that day just to be sure everything was all right! I am happy to report that we arrived in San Diego, safe and sound, on time and ready to begin this week. Honda Brown is a disgusting establishment. Recently bought a car from them (after mistakenly going back following one bad experience), and a salesman blatantly lied to my face about the gas mileage, claiming it got "about" 25 in the city and "about" 35 on the highway. Come to find out, after a simple google search and experience, that the most it will get it 21 city and 30 highway. Brought this to his attention, to which he tried to claim he was telling me the 25 city was the average, yet another lie, pretending as though I wasn't present for that conversation. The day I bought the car, they kept it for 7 hours "inspecting" and cleaning it. An hour after I got the car back, I noticed my coolant tank was extremely low, as in well below the minimum and hard to read. I don't have a leak, they just never checked my fluid levels. The joke is on me, and it was clear they took advantage of someone in need of a car, which is fine, but the insistence on lying is truly unacceptable. Even after confrontation, he maintained that it was a "misunderstanding". The salesman's name was Thai Pham, but honestly I've dealt with 3 so far and he seems like the best of the bunch, which doesn't speak well. read more

Descending from high plains of NM into TX, developed a "check engine" light on recent XC trip. Googled Honda Dealership and drove to Brown's in few minutes. Very helpful young man checked error code; was O2 sensor which often acts up, he explained, on the descent into TX. He cleared code, said if it reappears to check with dealer in OKC. This is a review for the Honda service department in Amarillo. We are from Dallas and were traveling to Colorado to see family. 100 miles out of Amarillo, our car starts shaking. We took it to this Honda dealership and were floored by the amazing service we received, especially from a service manager named Steve. He dropped everything because we were traveling through and diagnosed the problem. He assured us that if it wasn't a quick fix he would send us on our way with a loaner, FOR FREE!!!....all the way to Colorado and back. Anyway, they found the problem and had it fixed in a matter of 3 hours. A very small delay for diagnosing the problem and replacing 2 CV shafts. He gave us a loaner so we could go somewhere in town to entertain our 4 young kids. Steve, you are our proverbial Good Samaritan! My wife and I were driving cross country as part of a military transfer when the air conditioner on our 2009 Honda Civic died 40 miles east of Amarillo, TX. So we have been non stop calling mechanic shop and finally Napa said they would be able to check the car out to see what the problem was. The mechanic at Napa said no shop would be able to help us so we would probably have to take it to the nearest Honda. Brown Honda Dealership. So we finally decided to drive to the nearest Honda dealership to seek help. I'm so glad we called before hand because when we called the Brown Honda dealership they were of no help. All we asked of them was to check to see if our car was drivable and he said he could not help us because they were booked. So we asked him if he could refer us to anyone else and he said there was nobody else. Which is a complete and utter lie. No compassion what so ever. Finally have something good to say about a dealership! Needed to get my mom's Honda Pilot airbag replaced due to a recall. She lives 2 hours away in Oklahoma. I had a horrible experience with Milo Gordon Honda in Lawton, OK and it didn't get done (see the review I left for them for more info). I dealt with a lady named Lexus, who made sure the part was in before we scheduled an appt. and actually called me back and worked around my schedule. I didn't have to call her. I can't praise enough the service department from Southwest Honda and in particular service manager Steve Parrish: He saved our vacation and more. On a Wednesday in July my wife and I were driving from Plano, TX to Denver, CO to visit our daughter driving our 2003 Honda Odyssey when just before Amarillo our transmission 'blew up'. We had it towed to Southwest Honda. A new transmission + labor would be about $5900. Originally agreed to it, and we got a nice Honda CRV as loaner car to continue our (3 day) vacation in Denver. But next morning I called Steve Parrish and explained that this was too expensive for us, especially because the car had 161k miles and I was 'between jobs'. He diligently went looking for a second hand one but only found one with 144k miles. So he suggested to have a company specialized in rebuilding transmissions have our transmission rebuild. That would be less than half the prize. But the car could not be ready before we drove home from Denver to Plano,TX. Without hesitation he offered to keep the loaner car and take it home. Today (3 weeks later) the car was finished by the transmission rebuilding garage and my wife drove this morning to Amarillo to swap the loaner car with our Honda. Steve then took my wife to the garage who rebuilt the transmission. Cost (payable to the transmission workshop): about $2750. Cost charged by Steve Parrish: ZERO, NADA, ZILCH, NOTHING! Even with ALL the effort he did for us and using the loaner car for almost 3 weeks and 1600 miles. AMAZING. Five stars is not enough to express my gratitude. I consider to drive all the way from Plano, TX to Amarillo if we are in the market for a new Honda. Kudos, Steve and Southwest Honda. read more

Absolutely disgusted with the service department at Brown Honda in Amarillo today. We have a 2012 Honda Odyssey that we have absolutely loved with the exception of having problems with the rotors since the very beginning. Instead of replacing them from the beginning they have decided to just keep turning them. Needless to say it has started shaking again. So I called to ask them about replacing them since they have already turned them three times and all of sudden it is a general wear and tear item and that's not covered under the warranty. When rotors have to be turned by 12,000 there is something wrong with the original rotors it is NOT general wear and tear. Our last three vehicles have been purchased here and I hate to say with this kind of service our next one will NOT be. Very disappointed!!! read more

Went in to get help from parts dept for parts needed for my son's car. The older man working was quite rude. He said "You ordered parts from another place and you are coming to me for help!" We ordered parts from Honda online and I wanted to make sure we had all of the hardware that was needed. The man acted as if I was wasting his time. I just wanted someone kind enough to help me look up the parts or a diagram and make sure we had what was needed. Let me say first that I'm a longtime customer of the Brown family of dealerships, as is my entire family. Have been for years. As for Southwest Honda, if I could give this place less than one star, I would. I bought a used vehicle and it was represented to me that all the safety checks on the car had been done and that it was in good condition and safe. After I drove it home, I realized that if you were on a rough road, it almost felt like the wheels were going to fall off. I took it back and had them look it over in the service department. My car sat there all day. When I called to check on it, I was told that everyone in the service department had driven it (burning a 1/4 tank of my gas) and that it was fine and that they had done nothing to it and they were not going to, I could come get it. The service manager was a jerk about giving me a car to drive while they had it and also was condescending about my complaints about the car. He basically treated me like I was an idiot. After taking it to a tire shop and another dealership that specialized in the make of the car, I found out that the car had a set of mismatched tires (different treads) and that they are so worn that they are unsafe. Honda refuses to replace the tires. There is no way they could have missed the shape these tires were in...they were just too cheap to replace them before they put it on the lot. It might cut into their profit. They also have neglected to give me the extra key I was promised when I bought the car. The car also needed maintenance that they never did and now I'm stuck having to pay for it because they represented to me that all the maintenance had been done. I have spent hours on the phone arguing with people who have been nothing but first class jerks, the service manager being the biggest one. If you shop at Southwest Honda, you will get a smile and a friendly face until you give them your money. Once they have that, you will be treated horrendously. All I have been given is the run-around. They won't return my phone calls, and when I run them down, they lie and say they've tried to call. When I do talk to someone, they are extremely rude and condescending. These people know absolutely nothing about customer service. Take your business somewhere else. If you buy from these guys, you'll be sorry. read more

I cannot stress enough how grateful we are for the kindness of the folks we met at Brown Honda. My husband is getting ready to start his pediatric residency in CA, and we are hustling to get from TN to Los Angeles. About 17 miles from the New Mexico border, one of our two cars broke down and had to be towed all the way back to Amarillo on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. We showed up at 8 am on Memorial Day, knowing the chances of us finding any mechanics open on a holiday were slim. Then Chris from Brown Honda showed up and starting making phone calls to anyone he could think of. One of the service advisors, Kenneth, showed up on his day off just to take a look at the car so we could figure out what was going on. Gratefully, it was a small fix, and Kenneth went with my husband to the local auto repair shop to pick up the replacement parts and everything. We were back on the road by noon of Memorial Day. The kind people at Brown Honda took an incredibly stressful situation and completely turned it around by going the extra mile for us. If we ever end up back in Amarillo, we wouldn't hesitate to call Brown Honda for any of our service or car buying needs. Good, good people! read more

BEWARE! TAKE A MECHANIC IF YOU GO HERE AND MAKE SURE YOU KNOW THE LEMON LAW OF TEXAS: The rotors had to be machined on a Honda 2011 Civic I bought there with 16,000 miles on it TWO DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT IT. Teddy Peacock said on 3/3/12 that the previous owner was not a smoker and when the Ozium or other chemical sprayed in the car to mask the smell wore off beginning on 3/4, the car still reeks of cigarette smoke. I told Teddy that I wanted my trade-in and my money back on 3/5 over the phone and via email. He told me to contact Terry Bookout, who said I couldn't do anything as my trade-in was sold. Deane Riley, the finance manager at Southwest Honda stated on 3/3 that I had three days to return the car if I was unhappy with the purchase. The brake rotors were in such disrepair that they had to be machined at Garcia Honda In Albuquerque NM where I live on 3/6. Teddy Peacock said on 3/4 to myself and to my parents that work had been done on the rotors and a record of said work would appear in the work detail included with the Car Fax and there was no record of such repair. He also said on 3/4 and 3/5 that the brakes would be okay in a few days. General Manager Bryan Vosler said that it wasn't unusual to have the brakes changed at even 13,000 miles as he had had his changed at that interval! I didn't even respond, as I have never heard such a thing! I still haven't receive my car or money back. WATCH OUT! read more
