I wish I could give 10 stars! My situation was that I drove my 2007 BMW 335i turbo into a large puddle and sucked water into the engine during some flash flooding. It damaged the engine and intercooler beyond repair after they tried drying things out, putting in new spark plugs, etc. Rather than total my vehicle, I elected to get a new engine and intercooler. Both Donna and Dalton are TOP notch! The folks there are both friendly and knowledgable. They kept me informed all along the way and the work they did was perfect. I even got a 12mo/12K mile warranty on my new engine. She started right up and purrs like a kitten. I'm so pleased with this place I'll def bring her back any time I need work. Oh and I would like to add that I live 6.5 hours away in New Mexico. I was just visiting Amarillo. But I trust this place more than I trust any place where I actually live. read more

My wife borrowed my Mercedes ML 350 Bluetec for a long road trip. Despite getting a pre-trip vehicle check from our local dealer, she wound up with a check-engine light on as she arrived in Amarillo. A quick Yelp search showed a couple of highly rated shops in town, and she chose Aardvark. The shop provided an upfront cost estimate to provide a diagnosis of the possible problem (diesel particulate filter error) and several possible alternatives to getting it fixed. Once my wife decided to spend the night in Amarillo, the shop crew worked one of those possible solutions. It worked, which saved her $1,000's and time. The shop could easily have taken the easy route of recommending a filter change (which would have been expensive and required time to get parts). They further said that the repair wasn't going to cost any more than the quoted diagnostic charge! What a great shop! It brings me no pleasure to write a negative review, but my customer service experience at Aardvark Automotive was so exceptionally awful that I am compelled to warn others about them. Our son was home from school for winter break and we thought it would be a good idea to have his 2014 Chevy Cruze checked for any mechanical issues. In particular, the engine was making a peculiar whirling sound that varied depending on the speed. After reading various reviews for Amarillo automotive repair shops, we decided to call Aardvark Automotive. I called on Tuesday, December 27, and spoke with Jason. I told him I wanted a detailed diagnostic of the vehicle. Jason told me the fee would be $75 and the first available appointment was Friday, December 30. We dropped off the car on Thursday, December 29, at 5PM. Jason met us at the front counter and I reiterated my diagnostic request including identifying the source of the whirling sound. As an afterthought, I asked him to also change the oil. After not hearing from Aardvark Automotive all day on Friday, I called them at 5PM to get an update. Jason told me they hadn't gotten to our vehicle and that they'd need to keep it until Monday. This was disappointing to hear because we had made an appointment 3 days prior. It was also frustrating because he never bothered to call us with an update. Jason apologized and assured me they'd get to it on Monday. Monday morning rolls around and I get the following text from Jason, "The completed inspection of vehicle and oil service. Vehicle is in great shape. He did not make any further recommendations for service at this time. It is complete and ready for pick up at your convenience." There was no mention of the whirling sound that I specifically asked him to diagnose. I called Jason and asked him about the whirling sound and he said their mechanic hadn't detected anything. The sound is obvious when you drive the vehicle so I can only conclude they didn't bother to road test it. I asked Jason if it would be possible to have a mechanic take a drive with our son in order to identify the source of the whirling sound and he agreed. When we arrived at Aardvark Automotive after 1PM, we noticed our car was still elevated on a lift inside the garage. I asked the woman at the front counter if I could speak with Jason. She said he was out to lunch and wasn't there. I then asked the woman if there was anyone else I could talk with about the vehicle and she said, "I don't know. Everyone is out to lunch." She went back to the garage and returned with a mechanic. I asked the mechanic if he would be willing to take a drive with our son and that's when he asked, "Is this about the noise?" I said yes and he explained the noise was coming from the transmission. That was good to know, but when were they planning to share this information with us? What happened to the detailed diagnostic promised by Jason? Things got even worse when it was time to pay the final bill. The total came to $155.95. There was no mention of the $75 diagnostic fee as quoted by Jason. The amount was for the oil change only. So they had the car for more than a day and the only thing we got in return was an overpriced oil change service. The paperwork didn't mention anything about the transmission noise. The paperwork didn't even specify the type of synthetic oil used. But my harshest criticism of Aardvark Automotive is about the woman at the front counter. She was defensive and argumentative. She essentially said the misunderstanding about the detailed diagnostic was my fault. She's a terrible communicator and doesn't know the first thing about placating customer concerns. The fact that she's the public face of Aardvark Automotive says a lot about the management. Aardvark Automotive is an absolute disaster and should be a case study on how not to run a business. Jason's folksy manner is no substitute for good communication and good customer service. Aardvark Automotive should be avoided at all costs, unless you enjoy being misled and jerked around. read more

Horrible experience , and was recommended by a local reputable business owner. Had a certified bmw. Needing spark plugs replaced. After estimate being totally too high , told them to let me think about it , paid the diagnostic fee and it ran worse then when I brought it in, goggled how to replace spark plugs, long story short, the replaced plugs with Subaru ones. Traveling from California to our new home in North Carolina and just outside of Amarillo my air conditioner stopped working. I saw the excellent reviews on Yelp and called Aardvark Automotive. The women who answered the phone was so nice, she said to come, she couldn't be sure they had the parts but to see what they could do. We were traveling with 3 cars, 3 dogs ,2 kids and a cat, and when we got there the women said we could bring the animals in where it was cool. We opted to sit under a tree and even the business next door came out to offer us water. Everyone was so nice. They started working on my car right away and was able to fix the problem in an hour and we were off again. I am so appreciative of the kindness and great service they gave us! About 2 months ago I found these guys when I was shopping around for some suspension work. My first service was such a good experience from getting a better price than the dealership and specialty shops to the work it's self. In fact they saved me $1,000 on something the dealership told me needed done that in fact was misdiagnosed and wasn't in need of repair. It's been so long since I have had a reliable mechanic that I decided to go through my entire vehicle and get everything it could possibly need done. We have done engine work, transmission, suspension you name it. Every time I took it here I have left feeling I saved money and didn't have to worry about getting the work double checked by another shop. I wish I had found Aardvark years ago! read more

I was barely 200 miles into a fairly lengthy road trip and I had a "malfunction" light pop up, and seconds later my car was pulling horribly to the right. I called my hometown independent dealer and they told me what was likely the problem. I asked them if they knew a good indy in Amarillo. They gave me Brandon's name and number at AArdvark. I called and told them I was likely an hour out which would put me in the shop a little after 4p. It was hot and the end of the day, but I pulled in, and they were in the car for a test drive and then on the rack within minutes. Of course, no parts in Amarillo, but they ordered the parts from Dallas, and drove me to a hotel across town. They called the next morning with news of the part, and had it installed by 10:30 am. For them to almost drop everything to get me on the road was amazing to me, and the fact that I was back on the road by noon was astonishing. Thanks to Brandon and all the crew! We were passing through Amarillo and noticed a major oil leak problem on our Mercedes Sprinter. I googled "Mercedes repair" and this was the first one to pop up. We showed up without calling and they were able to take a look, diagnose the problem right away and do enough of a fix to get us back on the road and home again. Having vehicle problems is a major bummer, especially when you're traveling, so their excellent customer service helped make an otherwise crappy experience nice. We were offered drinks right away, a ride to a restaurant, and I thought it was kind of cute that they sent us on our way with a snack pack. They also said (even knowing we're not locals and their chance for repeat business from us is low because we live elsewhere) we're welcome to call if anything else comes up anytime and they'd help us out on the phone if they can. read more

My wife and I were on a road trip from Los Angeles to Detroit and were forced to stop in Amarillo due to a lack of power in our 1985 Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas. We were recommended to check out the mechanics at Aardvark Automotive. I can't believe how lucky we were! First of all, I have never met a more helpful and courteous bunch of mechanics and staff. It is the worst, they spoke to me in christian manner. Told me my charge was under 400. When they finished it was 900. Said the other guys did a terrible job. Said they did front end alignment. I called next day and told him he said shit, your cars all messed up. I called and called said could not get it in . It's been 5 months he said they did not warranty. We recently bought a BMW for my son and all of a sudden we start having problem we took it to many mechanics and many mechanics cannot figure it out so we were out of options and we finally took it to aardvark which we should've took it in the first place they found the problem explained it to us and every day they kept us updated they did find other problems with the BMW which I'm glad they did little bit more money than I expected but it was well worth it. I had my daughter take my truck in TX for a leaking radiator, They diagnosed a crack in the radiator and said to change it out with hoses it would be $1700. I called me normal mechanic in CO and he said with OEM parts it would be $800. I had my daughter take the truck to another mechanic and they said it would be around $700 and Aardvark was ripping you off. They in fixed the radiator for 760.00 and not 1,700. My worst nightmare on a cross country trip is a breakdown. Just outside of Amarillo my Mercedes went into limp mode. With no Mercedes dealer in town, I was recommended to go to Aardvark. Within 5 minutes of getting the car off the tow truck, Brandon the owner had my car hooked up to the onboard computer. He diagnosed the problem as a defective turbocharger. He recommended: I rent a car to complete my trip to AZ. Before leaving, Kim gave me a estimate. Everyone treated us great. The repair was completed on time. The Aardvark team is great! The woman there has very poor customer service. We had an appointment at 8am and by 3pm she said the reason we could not get a diagnosis it's because they had no time to finish the process. Understandable but why the appointment in the first place. I needed the car after work and I wish we gave her more time. Poor listening skills, argumentative. I was on the phone listening how my friend was treated it was unbelievable. Her conclusion was we are not welcome here again because we asked why 150 dollars with no diagnosis. Will go to VW next time, they understand customer service and German technology. I was referred here because my friend brought his BMW She is right she will never see our face there again. If all of us were to work like this woman the world will be a bad place. We lost oil pressure just before the mile 129 rest stop heading east on I-40. AAA'd to Aardvark Automotive in Amarillo TX at AAA's recommendation. Arrived a few minutes before their closing time. Ultimately they did a couple of things the next day that got me some oil pressure but not enough to drive the car. The car (old and imported) was way outside their normal service comfort zone. But they were VERY helpful. They helped us find a hotel, get stuff out of our car, get to the airport and so on. On top of that, we arranged for a flat bed truck to bring our car home while we flew home. Aardvark dealt with the car pickup too. All in all Aardvark made what could have been a total cluster**** into something far easier to deal with. On top of that they were all nice too. First off let me say I truly appreciate them working with me and holding a check for me. My car is doing much better as well, but this job includes customer service as well. I have never written a review for anything so this is how poor it was. The woman at the front desk would barely acknowledge me and never smiled. She acted like she hated her job and only talked down to me. I mean she literally talked to me like a dog. I am from out of town and really do not like a lack of hospitality. I even picked up the check and paid earlier with no appreciation. I hope whatever she is dealing with gets better because she has no right talking to people like that. We highly recommend Brandon at aardvark automotive in Amarillo Texas! He is an extremely knowledgeable Mercedes mechanic, very honest, genuinely caring and explains everything to you. We have a 2012 Winnebago view motorhome on a Mercedes diesel chassis and our check engine light was coming on as we were driving across country. Brandon had the star Mercedes's code scanner compatability to check for our fault codes and recommend the best plan of action. In the end he did not even charge us to do the diagnostic testing!!! He encouraged us to drive our vehicle for 60 miles after he cleared the codes for us and was certain that our vehicle would be safe to drive . He even offered us electric plug in if we would've needed to stay there overnight ! His assistant, Gabby, who answered the phone was exceptionally kind and helpful as well! read more

Aardvark saved me over $1000! You read that right! The ABS module on our 2005 suburban quit functioning correctly. The first mechanic I went to said it would be $1049 for a new module and $400 for the labor. I asked the mechanic if there were any cheaper options (used parts, after market parts) and he said no. Now this mechanic was not new to the business and stays up to date with his trade so I really believed he was lying to me. I began to research ABS modules online and found a place that rebuilds ABS modules. That is when I thankfully crossed paths with Aardvark. I asked them if they knew about the module rebuilding company and they said yes, they highly recommended them and would take the module out for me and install the new one for a fraction of the cost of the other mechanic. WOW! So with the rebuilt module and labor my new cost was $330 not $1,449 and my suburban is running great!!! You better believe I will be using Aardvark again! read more
