WARNING: Do Not Trust Kwick Start! I took my car to Kwick Start on December 26th due to engine trouble, and it has been nothing but a nightmare since. If you value honesty, transparency, and competent service--STAY AWAY from this shop! Broken Promises & Endless Delays After diagnosing my car, Eddie told me my engine needed to be replaced. He quoted me $3,200 for an engine with only 20K miles, and I gave him the green light to proceed. That's where the lies began. First, he never ordered the engine because he claimed he was "waiting for my approval" (which I had already given). Then, week after week, the engine was supposedly in a different city--Wichita Falls, Dallas, Little Rock--always with a new excuse. Every time I called for an update, I got vague responses, false promises, and more delays. Bait-and-Switch Engine Swap Finally, after a month of waiting, I picked up my car on January 27th, only to find out: I was charged for an engine with 20K miles But they couldn't prove that's what they installed Eddie kept changing his story--first the engine had 67K miles, then 65K, then "60-something" He had zero documentation of the installed engine's mileage or serial number I even called the salvage yard that allegedly supplied the engine, but they wouldn't tell me anything because Eddie was the one who bought it. Suspicious Engine Issues & Scamming Customers From the moment I drove off, the car felt worse than before: Grinding noises Struggles with acceleration Overheating smells Burning oil White smoke--the same issue that caused my original engine to fail When I took it back, Eddie barely looked at it, claimed it was "perfect," and dismissed all my concerns. When I pushed for answers, he hung up on me! Ladies, Beware! If you're a woman, prepare to be talked down to, dismissed, and treated like you don't know anything about cars. Eddie refused to give me straight answers, avoided my questions, and treated me like I was stupid for wanting proof of the work done. The Final Cost of Kwick Start's Lies * $3,200 for an engine that I can't verify * $120 in extra fees just to make my payment * A car that still doesn't run right and is now at the dealership for further repairs FINAL WARNING: AVOID THIS SHOP! My view is that the Kwik Start in Amarillo TX on Bell St., is a dangerous place, based on my experience. *THIS PLACE IS NOT ACCREDITED BY THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU.* Visited twice in early August 2023. New in town. Have a smooth-running older sports car. I have always taken very good care of it. Runs like a dream. Stored indoors, etc. Went in for a spark plug change first. As I was leaving, Eddie, the owner, said I needed a "valve cover gasket replacement." The valve cover gasket replacement was a true NIGHTMARE. Immediately after leaving their shop, my car needed a WRECKER. Extreme exhaust fumes began leaking into cabin. Choking me. Carbon monoxide. Quickly covered my nose and mouth with a spare mask. Got sick. Somehow, I made it home. Vomited from the fumes exposure. Called Kwik Start to report situation. Spoke to Eddie the owner. Shockingly, I got the run around. He said "bring it back." But I lost my trust. Just couldn't. Posted a review on Yelp before going to bed. Would call tow truck in morning. Woke up to all oil drained onto my garage floor. (see pics). *UPDATE: WRECKER DISPATCHED IN THE MORNING. Towed to dealership. FINDINGS DEALERSHIP DOCUMENTED: The valve cover gasket that kwik start so-called "installed" was grossly and inaccurately put in. Also documented was the possibility of malicious intent in the area of the valve cover gasket by kwik start employee that worked on the gasket. Later, before dealership findings report, I went to Kwik Start to speak to both manager and the employee. I attempted to negotiate a refund for their bad repair, wrecker costs, taxis, and repair costs. Showed photos of oil drained out onto my garage floor. Told employee and manager - that my car was brought in in perfect condition. That this damage looks intentional. Simple valve cover gasket replacement? The employee instantly swore at me ("F bomb"). He then flipped me off with both of his hands, (in front of the manager) and stalked off. Manager Eddie did absolutely nothing. Manager then lectured me on how I shouldn't have "upset the employee" like that by saying the damage looked intentional. Zero remorse for what they did to my sports car. Manager then said he "didn't appreciate" my bad Yelp review. Again, zero respect for what they did to cause the bad review. Basically, I had gone there to give them a chance to do right. But the owner did not want to hear anything about it. I was fully aware that they would likely need a copy of the dealership report before giving any refunds. However, treating me like that was zero excuse. And the scary abusive one that flipped me off and swore at me AND the "owner" who allowed him to do so, ya'll can be very, VERY grateful that any of my three sons were not present to see you abuse their elderly Mom that way. Lord. Have. Mercy. Oh, my. You see, one son is a decorated Veteran of the U.S. Army & fought in the Iraq war. Family is close to his heart since he almost did not make it back from the war. He will review the video tho, and also my sons will read this review. Yes, I feel that ya'll will want to thank your lucky stars tonight when you crawl in for nighty night, that the war veteran son did not see you abuse his elderly Mother .... Mom of four, grandmother of nine, great grandmother of one. AND ruin her car. I am grateful to God that my little grandkids or my dog, were not in my car when the fumes flooded the cabin. They could have been easily overcome with illness or carbon monoxide poisoning. Grateful for the fantastic dealership that put my car back together after this horror show. Obviously, I definitely do not recommend Kwik Start. *NOTE This place needs to be investigated by Police, the FBI, the dept. of Labor and Industries, Chamber of Commerce, and the Attorney General's office. The reviews are poor, and some are similar to mine, dangerous. The Better Business Bureau has a similar complaint registered. read more

Eddie was a total jerk. Without giving too long of a story came in for a noise (that turned out to be a broken fan shroud). He said he couldnt hear it in his loud shop so that it isnt imporant. Then belittled me by saying the cab would have to come off if it was driveline related. When it did not have to. Kind of guy that wouldnt give me the time of day. On a seperate occassion prior he had done an ac compressor on my car and later when it stopped working after less than a year he claimed there was no record of it in his system. Which turned out to likely be the compressor he put on. Did go in for a forged inspection sticker. Guy wouldnt have even known the car's color type of inspection. So I guess thats the one good thing he has done for me. read more

Do not do business here. I got my car towed to their business thinking it was battery issues. Took them a week an half to look at my car because they had their people calling in sick. They finally called me back to tell me it's the time belt tensioner. I asked how much for repair since they replaced the whole time belt kit 2 1/2 years ago. He told me it's under warranty and will get back with me. Call the next day and said he fixed it and cost 420.00. I said why fix it without giving me a quote and if I'm under warranty why do I need to pay. He said warranty is for parts only and stated no mechanic would warranty parts and labor. Called 4 other local mechanics and they do warranty 3yrs or 36000 on time belt. Had to pay to get my car but will not do business with them anymore. read more

My brother and I were passing through the area en route to Arizona, when all of a sudden, my brother's vehicle notified him about low oil levels. Needless to say, in a sea of Jiffy Lubes, this mom and pop shop was nestled in amongst them. Needless to say, I'm super happy we did business here. The owner was super nice, took care of a quick oil change super fast, and most importantly, he did not upsell on services my brother didn't need. If there's a good word to describe this shop, I'd say "honest" fits the bill, which is a very rare quality to find in a quick lube style business. I called them earlier in the week to make sure I was gonna be able to get my car in for a transmission service on Saturday. I ended up getting there before they opened and only had two people in front of me whenever they told me that they couldn't do anything for me because they're short staffed. It took about 3 minutes for them to change our oil and then after we left our air conditioner didn't work! It was charged to the place we got the car from and the guy running the place yelled that quickly to the guy that "supposedly" changed the oil!
