On my way though Amarillo on a Sunday my starter failed. With a full SUV of gear and kids in tow. I was able to get ahold of Randy and diagnosed the issue remotely. Was finally able to get it started but didn't want to try and drive home 6 hours without shutting off the vehicle. So took it to the shop. AWFUL experience. Which is really sad because this place has good reviews and was recommended. My brother dropped off his car 2 1/2 months ago to get some battery issues fixed. Throughout these few months, there was little to NO communication about what was happening with the car, what parts needed to be fixed and ordered, any sort of timeline, and what it would cost. Anytime we called the shop, texted the mechanic, or even visited the shop, no one was there or would answer. It became very sketchy and frustrating. Once we finally got law enforcement involved, they gave us a pick up time... just to get there and find out the subwoofer was stolen... they claim it was never there in the first place ( we have pictures, text/phone logs and receipts to back all of this up...) would NOT recommend and extremely disappointed in how all of this was handled... read more

My parents were passing through Amarillo when their truck broke down, a Dodge 1500. We took it to John's Auto service where they fixed the engine but did so in a way that completely wrecked the AC potentially to the point of negligence because things were snapped off behind the firewall. Upon trying to reach John's Auto service to inform them for over a week, no one answers the phone and no one has called us back. I would not recommend them. read more

My wife, pet and I were taking on route 66 from Chicago and on 10/19/22 had an auto accident in Mc clean Texas which basically is a ghost town and the only garage in Mc clean could not get the tie rod needed to repair the vehicle for several days. Only other alternative was to have vehicle towed 80 miles to amarillo and John's was the repair facility recommended by the tow company so we took his word and had it taken to John's. When contacted initially randy stated that they would not have in stock but get the part on time ,for us to be on the road the next day by noon. We got a room at the local hotel until morning. Unfortunately, part did not come in on time but Randy went out of way to pick up thr part himself. Once part was received his people installed the part and aligned the best they could and test drove the vehicle and assured us that it appeared to be lined up correctly but that we should watch for thread wear but it should be good until we arrived home to brookfield. The cost of the repair is much better than it would have cost back home. We recommend this facility if you ever need a repair when in amarillo. Kuddos to randy and the crew. read more

We were from out of town and our car overheated on a Sat, 3pm. Googled and found raving reviews of this Repair. Randy looked at it on Sat and Sunday and found the problem and started repairing. A family member loaned us a car to get home. Randy told my husband the car would be ready Monday afternoon, so he drove 2 hours to get the car only to be told he'd run into a problem and would have to take it to the dealer. If only Randy had called to let us know about the problem. He's not a very good communicator. Randy did let my husband drive his truck back home on Tues. Thursday I called Randy to see what the status of the car was. He said, "oh, let me call the dealership". It was like 'out of sight, out of mind'. Before he hung up I said, "and you'll call me back in a few minutes, right", "Yes". Never heard from him. I called Friday morning and asked why he didn't call me back. His response was "I didn't think of it till 10:30 last night". Why on earth didn't he call me the second he hung up from the dealership??? After we picked up the car, from the dealership, 10 days later, it wasn't cooling very well. Drove straight to Randy's. Turns out we paid Randy to add freon but none had been added. And while he had the hood up, my husband noticed that the cover to the engine block was missing. Randy had left it off. 2 days later, my husband has discovered another cover is missing. When I say 'Randy did" I mean his crew. I don't know how much of the work Randy actually did but his guys worked on it too. Randy has been distracted with some personal issues but that doesn't excuse how this entire car deal was handled. We knew no mechanics in Amarillo and don't know what we would have done differently. We needed our car to be look at on a weekend. After reading all the great reviews, probably 50, we are very disappointed in the 10 day journey. read more

Today, my son and I were making a long trip from Florida to California when my truck threw a check engine light. A local parts store recommended Randy from John's Auto. We called the number they provided, and Randy was able to immediately see us and diagnose the truck. After determining that the code was most likely due to our own mistake, he was able to safely help us get back on the road and continue our trip. I offered to pay him for his services, and he declined, simply telling us to please just call if we have any more trouble. It seems that nowadays, it's hard to find kind people that just want to help. I'm so thankful that we met some today at John's. I've been going to this business for last 5 years, I've brought three of my cars here. Mr Randy is pretty easy to talk to, seems fair, and prices have been competitively lower most of the time , seems honest and upfront. I have had no issues so far, he has done a good satisfactory job every time, I will continue to bring my vehicles here. I do highly recommend this place . I've had heater core fixed. Fantastic service! We are so happy that we found John's Auto Repair. We were traveling through Amarillo on a Sunday, and basically, our van started falling apart. There's no way we could've made it five more hours home. I called about 10 minutes out, and Randy met us there. He took great care of us, had the van ready to go within 24 hours (had to wait til Monday for a part), and I believe charged a fair price, especially for a Sunday call out. Solid 5 stars. I have an older Land Rover and was told by a high-end shop here in Amarillo that it needed at new heater core. That means that the dash has to be removed, and they were quoting me $2,100. So I took it to Randy at Johns Auto Repair and he flushed the heater core several times and the issue was fixed - for all of $180. Randy is the man. I trust these guys! read more

Amazing experience. My car's AC broke down 200 miles outside of Amarillo in 99 degree weather with 2 small pups and my mom. It was a Sunday and I called Johns Auto Repair at 6:50 AM on Monday. Though they didn't open until 8:00, they let me come in at 7:30 am. They replaced my compressor for only $670.00 including labor, and I was back on the road in no time. Furthermore, they drove me back to my hotel free of charge and picked me up when the car was ready. It was the BEST experience. Thank you John, and I would highly recommend this shop. Was traveling thru on a road trip today, when my car started acting funny. I called the local Nissan dealership and was informed that they were busy and probably could not diagnose my problem in the next 8 hours and even if they could diagnose, the wouldn't be able to make any repair for 3-4days due to the holiday. My mom got online and did some research and found Johns Auto. She called, explained my issue and he offered to come in, on his day off, to meet me and look at my car. Sure enough, he showed up within 10 minutes, immediately got his equipment out and went to looking at my car. Within a few minutes he figured out the problem. Unfortunately, he said I had a really serious problem with my transmission, and my car would not hold out for the rest of my road trip. He suggested I turn around and drive 400 miles home, rather than take the chance getting myself stuck in a bad position later on in my journey. I thanked him, asked him how much I owed for the service, he kindly replied that he was not charging me for his services (dealership quoted me $120 for this service), That he knew I had big problems on my hand. This does not happen people!!! This man was my saving grace today. If not for him, I would of kept on driving and who knows what would of happened. For him to come open the shop and look at my car, for free, on Memorial weekend... well let's just say, I feel very blessed. I would highly recommend patronizing this business, In this day and age, you rarely find someone that goes above and beyond like this, and when you do, you need to support them! read more

While traveling through Texas I had a major transfer case problem on my Jeep and needed to have the rear driveshaft removed and secured under the jeep. I found John's on line and called to see if they could help. I spoke to Randy who assured me that was no problem. I arrived in my motorhome with the jeep in tow and Randy actually went out in the street and did the necessary removal. It took him less than 20 minutes and we were fixed and good to go.
