For example, bought four of their "fresh local peaches", which looked and felt fine on the outside, but all of them were rotten when I cut into them. I was going to try their corn, but when I pulled away part of the shuck, many of the ears had rot at the top and they were well past their prime. Again, so much for the "fresh", "super-sweet" advertising! I would avoid these larger stands and find the smaller ones that harvest daily and do not sell old produce. Some of the larger ones also bring in products that are not local, so there is no real way to verify the "local" claim. Eastern L.I has changed so much since I was a kid and most of it is not for the better!

The apple cider donuts were warm, soft, and absolutely amazing--worth the trip alone! I'm so glad I was told about Breeze Hill Farm. It's the perfect place to spend a beautiful fall day with family. When you arrive, you can choose between a $20 or $50 bag, and they give you an apple picker stick so you can start your adventure through their stunning 30 acres of apple trees. The land and environment are absolutely beautiful--open skies and rows of apple trees that make the whole place feel peaceful and welcoming. The farm grows an incredible 26 varieties of apples, and you can truly taste the organic freshness in every bite. There's something so special about eating an apple you picked yourself--it's crisp, flavorful, and full of that farm-fresh sweetness you just can't find anywhere else. There's also a cozy fire pit area to relax by, a spot to grab drinks, and the market offers fresh eggs and tomatoes for sale, which was such a nice touch. I think it was fairly priced at 14 dollars. The staff was very friendly and kept the line moving fast. They have a few tables indoor with tables in the front and back outside. We also bought the bags to go apple picking in the back. It was very nice being able to go apple picking without the crazy crowds. Heads up - most of the apples on the trees were pretty small, except for the giant ones in the bin (we preferred picking right off the trees ). Another heads up - the donuts are cash only, so plan ahead! The employees at each section were so warm, welcoming, and kind. The view by the picnic tables was beautiful, and I honestly wish we had planned to stay longer just to enjoy it. It's a smaller area for picking compared to what I've experienced upstate, but it would be perfect for families with young children or anyone who can't walk very far. This was my first time apple picking on Long Island, and I loved seeing the dwarf trees - it was really neat to have the apples at easy picking height!
