Meg is truly wonderful. It is always a trust fall getting your eyebrows tattooed permanently on your face. However she is soo good at what she does and she draws on each hair for your to look over before she tattoos them! I love my brows and after losing half my brows in middle school finally am enjoying my natural face again. For those considering this process it doesn't happen overnight. You need two sessions (I had three as I didn't take the pigment very well for our first session) so just know it will take time but you will get the permanent brows of your dreams soon! This is my second experience with permanent makeup; I had my brows microbladed several years ago and it was time to get them redone. So glad that I decided to go to Meg to get powder brows. It was obvious from the get-go that she really knows what she's doing, and she gave me a lot of information between the two techniques and why powder could be a better choice for what I wanted. She explained the process and after-care thoroughly, and even gives you an after-care kit to make sure you know how to manage the healing. I've been going to Megan since 2017 and there isn't anybody else I'd go see to do my permanent eyeliner/lash enhancement. I first met Megan as the resident artist at a spa, and I'm so excited to see she's opened up her own place in the East Bay. My first time, I was so nervous to get my lash enhancement done. I don't have any other tattoos, so the idea of my first (two) being right near my eyeballs was terrifying. But Megan has the absolute best bedside manner. She's super friendly and makes you feel incredibly at ease. She's always answered my questions really knowledgeably, set reasonable expectations, and gave really good directions on after-care. Her work is amazing. To be fair, I've only ever done an upper lash enhancement (3 times now), but I've always been super happy. I was referred to Meg by a friend and am so thankful to have found her!!! She listened to my back story and really took the time to make sure that she did what I was requesting as this was a redo/fix of my first attempt with another brow artist last year. I went to someone three separate times last year (in Danville) to try to achieve the brows that I wanted and this person just kept charging me and then adding a stroke or two of hair to then say "I can't make them thicker". Needless to say it was a lot of time and $ wasted. Meg sat with me for around 45 min prior to the procedure to discuss the process and make sure that she knew what my goals were and how to achieve them. She not only achieved what I wanted and more but she was able to correct the "questionable work" that I had done last year. Full disclosure: I have written only one Yelp review and it was not a good one. But I am about to write the most glowing review I can for Megan of Brow Basics! As you will read in this post: https://www.yelp.com/not_recommended_reviews/oakland-glow-studio-oakland-3, I had a very bad experience getting my brows microbladed by Katie at Oakland Glow Studio. I then met with a bunch of other studios to try to figure out how to remove them. Megan of Brow Basics is an amazing talent, and has literally saved me. I came to her last summer with microbladed brows that looked like they had been drawn on with a black Sharpie. She has been taking me through the process of getting them off my face using a process called Pigment Lightening. Eventually, I will have her re-do my eyebrows altogether. Unlike my experience with Oakland Glow Studio, my time with Megan has been a joy. She is kind and explains everything. She has an enormous amount of experience, and takes the art of microblading very seriously. She has really put in the work to learn the craft, and it shows. I have learned two VERY IMPORTANT facts about the permanent makeup business that I want you all to know: 1.) To offer microblading services you do NOT NEED TO HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE. You read that right. You actually don't have to take ANY training classes. You only need a health-related certificate (a 2 hour online test) and to pay for a permit. If you pass the health department inspection, you get a permit. No actual Microblading or Permanent Makeup training required! NONE. So, there are A LOT of people out there with little to no experience. And a lot of people who are just not very good. And you have no recourse when they screw up. 2.) You are probably going to pick your practitioner by looking at their work on their website or on Instagram. Makes sense, right? Even if they have A LOT of posts, you might not end up with how it looks in those photos. In my case, I chose Katie from the work she posted on Instagram. And, my eyebrows looked good immediately after the service. It was ONLY in the weeks thereafter - as I healed - that something called "pigment migration" occured. And I ended up with a mess on my face! ASK TO SEE FINISHED WORK. HEALED WORK. Also, lots of Instagram posts doesn't mean much. It only means they have lots of time to post! Be warned. Learn from my mistake. A very expensive mistake. If you want to have any services done - whether it be microblading or permanent makeup - I wholly recommend Megan. You will enjoy your time with her in her beautiful, sun-lit studio. You will leave with the feeling you have made a brand new friend. read more

I have been a client since 2017 before she started her own business and of course I followed her once she opened her own shop. I've had my eye liner tattooed three times and just got my Microblading done. I always get lots of compliments on her work! I've seen first hand how detail oriented and patient she is.
