Unprofessional and dangerous place to get your lashes done. PLEASE beware before coming here…read more tldr: ended up with a chemical burn on both of my eyes, they offered me a "complimentary touch up" as an apology I booked to get a full set of lashes. Appointment was at 1, they called and woke me up to ask if they could push it back to 2pm. Told them that was fine. I showed up on time, my tech was late and really didn't get started until 2:30pm - 45pm. I had maybe 3 - 5 lashes to remove from my last set (last set was done in early june) and we started with that. This is when the burn happened. My right eye was absolutely searing, I flinched and she told me to open and then all of the glue went into my eyes. The tech walked me to the bathroom to wash my eyes out. The pain felt like I was being blinded, like someone had thrown acid into my eyes (essentially what happened). After I had recovered enough, I returned to the table. My eyes continued to water throughout the set, which my stylist was obviously annoyed by it. I told her I couldn't control it, and she made me sit up and have a fan blow on my face to try to get my eyes to stop tearing. After four hours, my top lashes were finally done. They asked if I wanted the bottom ones done too and I said sure, and I wish I hadn't. They were too long and all the same length, so I just looked like a raggedy-ann doll. Finally came time to pay, they charged me $50 to remove the few lashes I had and another $50 for the bottom lashes. I want to emphasize how few lashes I had left on from my early june set lol, I do not think it was fair to charge me the full $50. I expected to pay around $200 and ended up paying $300. I tipped 18%. I would normally tip more, but considering the delays, the annoyance with my eyes watering and the burn itself, I didn't feel inclined to tip more. After I left, my eyes continued to water and burn to the point where I had to pull over because I couldn't see. It was like whenever I would blink I would reintroduce the acid into my eyes and deal with the tearing and pain again. I am a nurse, and my coworkers encouraged me to go to the ER and get my eyes lavaged because they were concerned about a chemical burn. I had my sister pick me up and had to leave my car on a random street in Wheeling. She took me to the ER and where the doctor performed a test on my eyes to check for acid and confirmed I did have a chemical burn on both of my eyes. They lavaged my eyes for a few hours using a morgans lens. The lavage process was also painful, even though they numbed my eyes. I'd rather deal with that pain than lose my vision, so I dealt with it. Almost all of the bottom lashes were washed away (which I was fine with, they were hideous) but the top ones stayed on surprisingly well considering what they had to do to my eyes. I went home on antibiotics and a rinsing solution with orders to not to return to work until next week and protect my eyes from the sun/other harsh sources of light to prevent further injury. At the urging of my sister, I messaged the studio the next day asking for a refund to try to recoup some of the cost of the ER visit. They asked for proof of the ER visit, which I provided and will include in this review, and a photo of my eyes. I'll include their response here, but they refused to give me a refund and sent me their policy. Despite the diagnosis on my ER paperwork, they said they couldn't prove I had an injury. I have been getting my lashes done for years at this point and have never had an experience like this. Even when a learning tech was practicing on me, I didn't experience this level of pain and injury. Not to mention the costs I will eventually have to pay for the ER visit. I am also missing a week of work because of this. In summary, going to this lash studio is not worth potentially losing your vision from a chemical burn. I don't even wanna know the ultimate financial cost of this, considering I won't be working and I haven't received my bill from the ER yet.

"You skin--worry-free with K-Beauty"…read more I've always been a big fan of Korean beauty--from skincare to makeup. Years ago, I visited South Korea and spent way too much time (and money ) shopping for skincare in Myeongdong, so I know the real deal when it comes to K-beauty. Today, I finally got to experience that same vibe locally at Miel K‑Beauty Spa, and I'm so glad I did. I came in right on time for my eyelash lift appointment, and everything felt calm, organized, and welcoming from the start. While I was there, I asked about their facials. Sadie--the owner and esthetician--walked me through their service menu without rushing or upselling. I ended up choosing the 60-minute Hydra Soothing Facial, and honestly... it was so refreshing. My skin felt clean, hydrated, and relaxed afterward. The spa itself is very tidy and spotless, which I really appreciate. Sadie was warm, gentle, and clearly knows what she's doing. She even gave me helpful advice on how to do deep cleansing at night, especially for blackhead removal--tips I'll actually use. If you're in Arlington Heights and love Korean skincare (or just want to treat your skin right), check this place out. You won't regret it--your skin will thank you.

And that's all I really wanted as I have some brows, y'all. Lots of eyebrow. Thus, the reasoning for an expert threader. However, she gets her eyes brows done in the city & living in the NW suburbs I didn't want to take a train just for my eyebrows. I went on yelp & searched eyebrow threading. After seeing all the positive reviews for Purvi I decided to give it a try! I made my appointment & found it was very easy to get to. I personally parked at the bank, but parking behind the salon would work just as easily. She greeted me with a huge smile & I should also add the women/men who work at the salon she rents her chair at are EXTREMELY friendly. She asked me how I wanted my eyebrows done & made some suggestions. I would recommend maybe bringing a photo reference & if you're like me never having got your eyebrows threaded i would recommend growing them out a bit so that there's a lot more to work with to shape them how you'd like. She did my eyebrows in probably 10 minutes. She made conversation with me to ease the pain a bit & I loved how interested/attentive she was to not only my interests, but how I was doing in terms of pain with the threading. The pain was a little worse then typical according to Purvi since I did grow my brows out but as someone who usually get my eyebrows waxed the pain was nothing in comparison. She shaped them & trimmed them to literal perfection. I've never seen my eyebrows look so good. Which is why I had to write a rave review. The swelling was down in probably 30 minutes & I got so many compliments when I went out later that night. All in all for the price ($12+ a nice tip!) she goes above & beyond. Great personality, talent, & price :)
