Well they are now closed. No notice but this is sad because I had always had a good experience with them.

Our dogs love this place. They always smell clean and look happy when we pick them up. We use them all the time and have never had an issue.

Really disappointing experience at Pet Paradise in Chesterfield…read more We brought our beagle in for the first time, and he normally LOVES other dogs. He is typically very social, excited, and happy around other dogs and is not normally a nervous or fearful dog at all. We had all of his paperwork ready and were excited for him to try the facility. From the moment we walked in, though, the whole process seemed to make him increasingly anxious. No one acknowledged us when we arrived. I actually ran into a friend who was dropping off her dog, and she introduced me to the staff and even mentioned that I was a friend of theirs. Still, we barely got a hello. Meanwhile, dogs were coming in and being helped while we continued to sit there. Several dogs were barking and carrying on around our dog, and the longer we waited, the more nervous he became. What bothered me was watching a dog who normally gets excited about seeing other dogs become visibly scared simply from sitting in that environment waiting to be helped. By the time someone finally checked us in, he was already extremely nervous. There was also almost no explanation of what was going to happen. I had to ask all of the questions. Their website talks about tours for new guests, but we were never offered a tour. No one walked us through the facility, explained the process, told us how they introduce a new dog to the group, or really gave us any idea what to expect. It was basically, "We'll take him back." About 15 minutes later, they called my wife and told us to come pick him up because he was extremely scared. That was especially frustrating because he wasn't scared when we brought him there. He became scared during the process of waiting, being surrounded by barking dogs, and then being taken into an unfamiliar environment without, from our perspective, much effort being made to help him become comfortable. What bothered me most was the complete lack of effort or explanation afterward. No one explained what they tried, how they introduced him, whether they gave him time to settle down, or what specifically happened once he went back. There was no conversation about trying a quieter introduction or another approach. It felt like they simply took an already-nervous dog into the back, decided very quickly that he was scared, and called us to come get him. The whole experience felt chaotic and impersonal. There was loud music playing when we walked in, lots of barking and commotion, and nothing about the experience made me feel like the priority was making a first-time dog comfortable. The loud, upbeat atmosphere may be designed to look fun to people, but I'm not sure how much it helps a nervous dog who is already overstimulated. We also didn't see any of the fun atmosphere we expected based on the advertising -- no tour, no explanation of the pool or activities, and no real attempt to make us or our dog comfortable. I completely understand that not every dog is going to be a good fit for daycare. But when a dog who normally loves other dogs arrives happy and ends up extremely scared before he has even really had a chance to settle in, I think the way the introduction was handled deserves some scrutiny. Based on our experience, I would not recommend Pet Paradise Chesterfield, particularly for someone bringing their dog there for the first time.

I brought her home from a deployment to Kuwait, after a lifetime of thinking I wasn't a cat person. It turns out, I am, and it took Zoe finding me in the desert for me to realize it. In December, Zoe had a couple of seizures, and was started on an anti-seizure medication. We already had a weekend trip booked for the week after they started, and were considering canceling our trip. I called Holiday Barn to get a feel for how confident they are in their ability to provide her medication and monitor for seizures, and the brief conversation I had with them on the phone put me immediately at ease. They answered my questions without hesitating and with full confidence in their ability to take care of Zoe while we were away. The woman I spoke to even recognized who Zoe was and said, "we love Zoe here." When I took Zoe in to drop her off, the woman working at the front immediately recognized her and called her by a nickname they have for her. Knowing they recognize her, and even have their own pet name for her, gave me peace with leaving her for a weekend, and allowed us to enjoy our trip with less worry. When I went over the medication with them they immediately recognized what the medication is and what it's for and handled it with professionalism and ease. I'm very happy with their customer service and how personal the care they provide is, and I highly recommend them for cat boarding.

Because of how they managed things, I feel confident our cats will have a better boarding experience in the future. Had both a vet appointment and boarded our dogs there…read more Let's just say this was the absolute worst experience I have had boarding my dogs. Vet appt was mediocre. Had to pay for 2 exam fees. Neither dog got an exam. They gave them there influenza shot and sent us on our way. Boarding... when we dropped off we had concerns. We asked to see the kennel where the dogs were kept and it wasn't very nice. There was active animal pee on the ground and extremely loud. None of the animals were settled. Whatsoever. The blankets they give dogs are paper thin. Thank goodness we brought our own. On the 3rd day of our dogs getting boarded we get a call that they have run out of food. How is that possible if I packed 12 bags for 5 days and they eat once a day. I packed for 1 extra day just in case. The workers never read the instructions and did whatever they wanted. They fed them twice a day and they weren't even eating. No call nothing. Until they ran out. They offered purina- which my dogs can not eat. They did go out and buy their dog food from tractor supply. But after such the manager acted as if I should be grateful for such a doing. The following morning I get another phone call. Miraculously one of my dogs has a cut under her eye and she needs emergency medical attention but no vets are in but I can pay for them to take her to an emergency vet. They tried to blame my other dog which is insulting enough. We cut our trip short and had a friend go get our dogs out of this place that day. Not only that. I drove my dogs 3 hours to the university (Virginia Tech) to have them evaluated and the one dog professional stitched up by the surgical team to also be told it was not from another dog. Do not board your dogs here.
