We are thankful for great prices, storage/hold of our appliances prior to our move in, information on warranties and rebates, and were also highly satisfied with delivery and set up. 5 year Warranty we bought on a refrigerator lasting 3 years.... We are at 6 weeks now and finally, last week Brothers Main told us replacement by warranty company will happen... however, we were supposed to have delivery today but now not until Monday or Tuesday, so they are now saying...we are so disappointed that we are still sitting with an inoperable refrigerator now over another weekend ... we had to go buy a little dorm refrigerator because we are tired of living out of coolers. We have purchased here many times in the past. After a recent purchase though, we will never buy here again. They outsourced their installation and the service was very poor. They installed the appliance and when it didn't work, they said that the connecting hose was bad when they hooked it up. Why wouldn't you say something when you saw that! For example, "Hey, I'll hook this up for you, but there seems to be a problem with the hose. You should have that looked at first." They just hooked it up anyway. Now the brand new dishwasher doesn't work AND we were unable to get back the old one, which probably still did work. The warranty we paid extra for is now useless because the company will charge for the service trip if it is found that the dishwasher still works. There is no accountability. I ordered a microwave which they assured me would be in within 2 weeks. After a month passed with no communication, I called to inquire about my order. Apparently it had been in for two weeks but no one had contacted me. They said they would notify the installer to call me. Several says passed, and I heard nothing. It wasn't until I called Brithers Main again and threated to demand my money back that the finally contacted the installer. DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT buy anything from BROTHERS MAIN. We bought $6000+ of KitchenAid appliances from them at one time---Refrigerator, Stove, Microwave and dishwasher. Why, to BUY from MAIN? Their customer service is HORRENDOUS. We had a problem with our KitchenAid refrigerator within 4 years of purchase. Granted, we did not buy the extended warranty. (We thought KitchenAid appliances were of quality and reputable...) My initial phone call regarding what if anything they might be able to do was, a matter of fact, curt response of, "Nothing!" SERIOUSLY the salesman said, "NOTHING!" and the MAIN rep. pretty much ended the conversation. In a follow-up call, I suggested that perhaps, seeing that we made a significant purchase from MAIN, that as a, "gesture of Goodwill," they would provide with a "100.00 Visa Gift Card" or even a grilling utensil set. I mean, I was seriously trying to help them with leaving a good feeling with customers rather than the sour taste that we were left with!! THEY DON"T GET IT---- HEY! They promote themselves as themselves as, the place to SHOP OUTSIDE the BIG BOX." After dealing with them, they are worse than any "BIG BOX" I have shopped at. I know the original BROTHERS MAIN and they were genuine, and customer oriented in the truest sense of the words. The cabal behind MAIN now, has demonstrated to us, that once you leave the store, and they have their money, you are nothing! If in you don't heed this warning, make sure that you purchase a warranty on anything you purchase from MAIN, as there is no help-- NOTHING-- that you can expect from them. I bought a new refrigerator (nearly $4,000) in November 2024- the plastic on the handles was glued or heated on- it would not come off. They said they would replace the handles(finally), the new handles were just as bad. This store lied to me to get me to buy from them telling me they could get and deliver the product sooner than the competitors. They are rude and untrustworthy. Where do I start. I have been waiting for my Refrigerator for almost 3 weeks. I was told by my salesman that the fridge would arrive on one truck and it did not. It did arrive several days later and when it was finally delivered it was damaged. The next time I was told by my salesman that it would arrive on a truck in one week but as you guessed it it did not arrive at all. I was then told that it would arrive in another week and that I would get it delivered the next day. I was told about the delivery date from my sales person and Kara the office person as well. Well the thing finally came in and now I am being told that I can not get it delivered as told but I have to wait another 3 days. All I heard from Kara is that they were doing the best they could and they could not help the fact that now the delivery schedule was changed from my promised day and the route was "locked" and the only person who could change it was on a plane. When Kara could not deal with the fact that I as not gong to roll over and take the delay and refused to admit she lied to me like the salesman had also done, she hung up on me. When I asked her to give me a refund she said I could get one but that company checks where only written on a Thursday (another 6 days away) and then they would be mailed to me, so I would be waiting over a week to get a refund of money that had cleared my bank several weeks ago. I bought a new GE microwave in February from "The Brothers" I had no problem getting the microwave but found that since it was a built-in I needed a new trim ring. I was not told that I needed the ring when I ordered the microwave even though I brought in a picture of the microwave that showed how it was built-in. I then had a built in microwave with no ring at all and ordered the trim ring and when it arrived, it was discovered that it was a trim ring for an older model. We then ordered a new trim ring for the new model. This was done on March 19th.After a couple of weeks I called to check on the status of the trim ring order. The salesperson, Dave Wipp, said "Oh yeah, I have your order right here on my desk and was just about to check on it! It looks like it is on todays delivery truck." After not hearing from Dave as to whether it was delivered on the expected truck, I called again next week. Dave Wipp again said my order was on his desk and he was about to check on it. I was again told it was on that days delivery truck. No call back from Dave, so I called again the next week and was again told by Dave Wipp that my order was on his desk and he again said it was coming on today's truck. So, after the third time, I decided that Dave Whipp used that same Bull S--- line on every one that calls looking for their order, and maybe once in a while he gets lucky and the Bull finally becomes reality. But here I am, it is June 7 and the trim ring for my microwave that according to Dave Wipp is coming in on todays truck has not arrived. It has only been 3 months and lots off "to'day's trucks" and no rings. I would bet if I called Dave Wipp today, my order would be next to him on his desk and it will be on today's truck. It would appear that Dave Wipp is only interested in selling new appliances and not in follow-up customer service. 1.5 year old Frigidaire refrigerator quit working. Non-repairable was the diagnosis. It took way longer to get a replacement from Frigidaire / Epic Warranty company than we think it should have. Main Appliance did a good job. Sales, warranty, scheduling and delivery were all nice people. Kyle and Taylor did a great job getting the new fridge into the house. They are incapable of delivering your purchase when they say they will. I've ordered 2 appliances from them and both times they gave us a delivery date, I take off of work to wait for it, and they never show up. And when you call to get it straightened out, they somehow act like it's your fault? I've tried getting them to confirm delivery dates with an email, and they say it's confirmed, but then they never show up. Just awful experiences with them. Bought a refrigerator in May 2020, was delivered early June and we and setup person noted small dent in lower door. Setup person assured us he let his boss know of the problem and that a new door would be delivered. To date, new door was never delivered as promised. About 10 months later we were having problems with refrigerator and called customer service of which Brothers Main was of no help. I had to chase down a number to call the manufacturer and finally was able to arrange for a service technician to come out. The service technician said that the computer board was not updated causing unit to stop cooling. The service technician also told us that Brothers Main should have resolved this update prior to selling unit. Do yourself a favor...don't buy an appliance from Brothers Main, unless you want very poor customer service. On a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the best, I would give Brothers Main a negative 1. Purchased oven, cooktop and dishwasher. They can't deliver on time or with correct order. My gas cooktop was delivered 6 months after order, and it was LP, not natural gas. It took 4 months for them to get a conversion kit. They never could deliver my dishwasher. They claimed there were "supply chain" problems, but I called a competitor who had 9 in stock and delivered within 10 days. Horrible. Stay away. read more

I'd like the owners to know just how dissatisfied I am as, now, a former customer . On March 15th I walked in, placed an order for a freezer, and paid for it, plus a 2 year warranty, on my credit card. My card was billed and you were paid on 3/16. I was given an estimated delivery date, to the local warehouse, of 3/22. I was also told there were 16 of this model in stock and supply was not an issue. After 3/22 came and went, I called Greg Suehring, my salesman, and he indicated that the freezer was still in Milwaukee, waiting to be shipped to Madison. After hearing nothing again from anyone there, I called again on 4/6 and was told by a male answering the phone that he didn't see any of these freezers in stock. I called again on 4/8, and was told, again, that that person, this time a female, couldn't help me, that I needed to talk to Greg. I left my name and number and asked for a supervisor or owner to call me back. That never happened. I came to the store this morning and Greg told me the 16 freezers must have been shipped elsewhere and he had no idea when I could expect my freezer. If I had been told that when I ordered it three weeks+ earlier, I never would have placed the order. Greg made it plain that he couldn't do anything about it and his attitude told me he didn't give a crap about when I got my freezer. At that point I had him cancel the order and process a refund on my credit card. I tried to do the right thing by shopping locally with a "family-owned" business, rather than getting the same freezer online for about 70% of the BM price. I THOUGHT that if I had a problem, at least I would have someone local to deal with. Greg and everyone else at BM have made it abundantly clear I was mistaken. It is too bad that the actual attitude about customer service looks nothing like the ads I see on WKOW in the morning. As I told Greg, my wife and I recently bought a 15-year-old condo with original appliances. We will be in the market for new ones I'm sure, but Brothers Main will be the last place I go (as in NEVER). Called for an appointment on Dec 8th. Was able to get one just a few weeks later (23rd). My appliances (LG washer and dryer) were still working but were acting up... I didn't get a call the night before or anything but didn't remember if this was part of the protocol so no ding for that. The tech did call when he was on his way. He was respectful, knowledgeable, able to 'fix' everything by cleaning up valves, lint areas, and such and resetting electronics.. Didn't replace anything (honesty is a plus!!) I did ask the tech what the recommended maintenance schedule should be expecting a 'sell' of services. Instead what I got was an open honest discussion about appliances and circumstances. When I called into the store in the am (around 9 am - 9:30), it was difficult to get through. I did not leave a message for a callback - just kept trying. They were able to tell me a two hr window the tech would arrive. He hit his window! Ill be using Main in the future and I do recommend. read more

I recently purchased an LG refrigerator from the store in Madison. It had been returned by a customer because it did not fit. I asked if the unit, which was now on the showroom floor was in perferct condition, and was told on the phone that it was. I purchased it and had it delivered and setup. After the deliverymen left, I found two small dents in the stainless steel doors. UPDATE: Dave from east side store contacted me last week and apologized for the woman that was less than helpful. Apparently they are getting hit with tons of online orders (which in store staff do not get commission on -- which is kind of crummy btw) and there is a significant delay in calling/filling orders. That said, how about establishing customer expectations from the initial email confirmation? I think the washer is being delivered this Thursday, but I've received no paperwork via email to confirm this. I guess we'll see. DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING AT BROTHER'S MAIN!!! I purchased $26,000 of premium VIKING appliances from them and they totally screwed me and did not help me when I had a serious problem. I purchased a floor model VIKING refrigerator in Dec 2021 and other appliances. I was told the refrigerator was in mint condition and worked. As soon as the refrigerator was delivered and installed, I discovered it did not work. Initially, the people at Brother's Main (BM) told me I was stupid and I had done something to make the refrigerator not work. After 1 week of phone calls and Brothers Main repeatedly telling me I was an idiot, they sent someone to my home who verified it wasn't working. I was then told it couldn't be fixed for over 8 weeks. IT GETS WORSE I called Viking appliance factory to see if they could help fix it my refrigerator. When I gave VIKING the serial number, I discovered the refrigerator was a 2018 model!!! I call Brother's Main back to let the managers / owners know and they sold me a non-functioning 2018 refrigerator in November of 2021 and they completely ignored me. They denied knowing the model they sold me was a 2018 model and then said it was my problem and basically washed their hands of me. I asked to speak with a manager / owner multiple times and they repeatedly stonewalled me. Purchased a refrigerator in February 2022 on a Saturday. Arranged delivery on the following Tuesday after 2 pm. The delivery truck and team showed up at noon while my wife and I were at work. Several phone calls that couldn't be taken while we are working resulted in losing our scheduled delivery time. Got home at 1:30 p.m. for the 2 p.m. delivery (took time off work) called to verify delivery and was told I'd have to reschedule because I wasn't home when the delivery team showed up. Delivery was then delayed several more days and would require me to take more time off work. BE CAREFUL! Salespeople (Gary Halberslaben) will tell you whatever you want to hear to make the sale, set up a bogus delivery date, and then reschedule it at their convenience. If you call the store manager you are simply told, "I wasn't there and don't know what he told you . . . . I'll have to look into it" . No accountability! No making it right. No effort to serve the customers arrangements made at the time of sale. Just "we'll get it to you later . . . ." Had hoped to support a local business and now regret it. I responded to an add of free delivery during Presidents sale. Went there today to buy a over the stove microwave - sales associate Greg, told me I needed to spend over 400 to get free deliver. I told him there was no mention of that on the T-V add. Greg then told me thats ok someone here can deliver it no charge. Ok fine so I told him what i wanted and he added on $150 for delivery, install and taking away the old microwave. I reminded him he just told me someone there could deliver it for free. He would not budge and I left. If a business runs an add that says FREE DELIVERY during Presidents sale they need to stick to it period. Our customer experience in the store buying the appliances was not too bad. We worked with Dave. The real problems set in with delivery. We were scheduled to receive our refrigerator, oven, microwave, and dishwasher on a Monday AM. No one showed. I called the store every day for a week and no one had answers and always said they would look into it and give me a call back. No one called back, not even Dave who sold us the appliances. So far I have only received two of the four items and have no idea when to expect the remaining two items. It is very difficult when you are required to be at home for deliveries and you are not getting proper information on when to expect them. Quite disappointing. read more

Do NOT ever buy from Brother's Main. We bought two brand new appliances from them a month ago (that we found a day later were damaged) and multiple emails, phone calls, and lies later, just when we didn't think service could get any worse, their customer care team member hung up on me. I thought maybe I was crazy and an outlier and this was just a weird once in a lifetime situation with them. I looked up their reviews online, apparently selling damaged products, lying to their customers, refusing to let customers talk to the manager and hanging up on customers, isn't unusual for this company. I will ALWAYS recommend good businesses. I couldn't tell you to run fast enough away from this company. My mom said ownership switched a number of years back and good lord, these new owners have run this into the ground. First off let me say that I have been a long time customer of Brother's Main on Stoughton Road in Madison. I have purchased several appliances over the years. However, I will not be returning for any further appliances after my last experience. My almost 5 year old Maytag washer broke and was not repairable. Because it still fell under the warranty my money was to be refunded to purchase a new one. With a number of calls to both the warranty company and to the service center it still took 4 weeks just to get the warranty company to get the store repair center to reply and finally I received an email from the warranty company stating that the cost of the machine was to be refunded. But, then I had to go through "Ros" to get that to move forward. That took another 4 weeks. I visited the store several times to review what I would replace it with and check pricing and Mr. Wipp waited on me several times yet didn't even remember who I was other than to say that per the computer he could see I was a long time customer. I also spoke with two other sales people. Each gave me different prices for the machines I chose. I made numerous visits to the store, sent numerous emails to inquire as to what was holding it up. When I finally received the go ahead from "Ros" to pick a machine she said that she would order them but the price was a Labor Day price and wasn't available yet. That was only one week before the sale started. I returned the email to state that I was told that those appliances were indeed in stock. At that point she set up the delivery and I was then granted the sale price. Those appliances were finally installed 8 weeks to the date after I first contacted them. I believe that was totally unacceptable and I believe that they must be so understaffed that they aren't able to follow through when an issue arises. Tried to "buy local" and had the worst experience ever. Very high end stove stoped working after three weeks and when I called the store, the receptionist refused to let me speak to a manager (or even give me a name) because he would tell you to call the manufacturer, we can't help you at all. I asked if I could speak to a a manger anyway and she told me no. Just refused and yelled at me. I can't even believe this store is in business. Bought a new dryer, was told all about their great guarantee. Don't believe it. In 7 hours and 30 minutes, parts of the load are still damp, takes two days to dry a load. I call the Brother Main, talk to a woman who can't help me, but someone will call me, nothing happens. Call back a couple of days later, a guy yells at me for calling and hangs up on me and yes, he did identify himself as working at Brothers Main. Few days later, a Friday, I call back a third time, this time to the number on the card of the guy who sold it to me. He answers and is on vacation with his family, but will call me next Tuesday. Tuesday comes and goes. So now a few weeks later, I called the manufacturer, they don't have a tech in the area, will call me in a week with some more information. All this time I am spending 5-7 hours a day trying to get my clothes dry. read more

Long story short: I ordered new appliances and Gary Halberslaben at Brothers Main knowingly sent a damaged refrigerator without offering a price adjustment until I asked for one. Roslyn, the customer service representative, was very prompt and gave me a partial refund and ordered new parts for the damaged fridge. I wanted to support a local business during these difficult pandemic times but I definitely wish I had gone to a big box store where I could've gotten the exact same appliances (that I love!) with much less hassle. Full experience: I ordered a new fridge, dishwasher, and microwave. They scheduled my delivery for a Monday and called me to confirm my delivery the Friday before. On my delivery day no one contacted me to say that my appliances were coming. I called the store and they said that my appliances weren't scheduled for delivery even though they had already confirmed the date with me. Eventually they delivered my appliances and upon delivery I was informed that they had brought a floor model fridge that had been damaged even though I paid for all new appliances. When I called the salesperson (Gary Halberslaben) he said that he knew that they would be delivering a damaged appliance to me and didn't say anything about a price adjustment until I asked for it. Eventually I was able to talk to Roslyn from customer service who confirmed that Gary should've contacted me before delivering a damaged product. Roslyn ordered new doors for the fridge and gave me a partial refund. That made the situation better but there were several things that went wrong that added up to an overall pretty terrible experience. My experience pretty much all boils down to poor communication from Gary. The other salespeople that I spoke to seemed very helpful so I'm not sure that I would say that no one should shop here but I definitely won't come back. read more

I wish I had read these reviews before purchasing. I thought Brothers Main was a locally owned store and the price for the Frigidaire washer dryer stack I bought was the same as Home Depot. The unit arrived on the day I requested, but after it was installed, the initial test revealed the dryer was defective. The delivery guys asked did we want to return it then and get another or have it fixed. The decision was get it fixed because what if next one was broken too. (This unit was taken out of the box in our garage. Now, 3 days later (despite numerous calls to sales people and emails to customer service) we have yet to hear from a repairs or customer service person. Apparently Brothers Main subcontracts their repairs to somebody else (?). If this isn't resolved tomorrow with a definite date for either repair or replacement, I am returing for refund and going with Home Depot. read more

I haven't even bought anything from the store but this is how it went. You call their store doesn't matter when and no one answers the phone calls to voicemail. And I'm looking at both locations in Madison and it's the same thing when you call them. So I look at the hours and they're open so I say you know I'm gonna drive over there. So I do I go in the store there's a guy sitting behind the desk there's a lady sitting next to him so I called her phone again. They sit there and let it ring so I walked up and asked, why don't you answer the phone? And The sales person says they only have two people working on the floor. Explained it goes in my basement and would have to remove steps and lower with a hoist, which I have set up and have used, I made sure the sales persons knew it would be unusual but if the right delivery persons come they will understand its easier. This place is a big fat NO! Nothing you want is in stock. Everything has to be ordered. Why bother? As much as I hate Best Buy, the appliance service is a much better experience. I didn't know that they still tried to sell TVs. Why? You can't come close to Amazon or Best Buy. This is exactly the type of "brick and mortar" stores that will continue to close. They can't hang with BB or online. read more

When a neighborhood store started letting us down and over charging, we started looking around for a new appliance store. We have dealt with Brothers Main a number of times on different appliances. They have a nice variety in models and price ranges. If they do not have it in their warehouse, they can usually get it pretty darn quick - just like most everyone else. Their pricing is better by far than Grand Appliance and many others. The sales staff is very extremely knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and know how to look up detaiis on the computer and get you the right information the first time without trying to blow smoke! Brothers Main bends over backwards, offers a great buyback warranty program and do everything they can to get you the appliance you need as soon as you need it and at a better price than anyone else. The staff at Brothers Main are top notch, informative, and explain products features that " we're new to me" in an easy to understand manner. This local company is definitely a reason not to shop at the big box stores in town. read more

Poor service to a whole new level Ordered a range on March 1, 2021. Was told by Gary H it could be as much as 8 weeks but more likely 4-6. After I contacted Gary many times he says yes it is in and set for delivery on Friday May 7th almost 10 full weeks after order. I take the afternoon off work so be there and they never show. I called them several times and nobody had any idea when it would arrive. Over the weekend Gary tells me he has no idea why it was not delivered but it has been rescheduled for Monday the 10th. So on Monday I take the afternoon off again and get a call 1:00. I am told the delivery guys dropped the range off the truck on THURSDAY when loading it. Range is destroyed, I NEVER got a call about it and used a day of VACATION for NOTHING. Next Gary says how sorry he is and that he will order another one on the service deal and no more than 3 weeks and most likely sooner. Then all goes quiet again. 5 weeks later and still NOTHING. I contact him and he just starts spewing more lies. Now he tells me he has some customers that have been waiting more than a YEAR for their stuff. Keep in mind I was told it would never be more than 8 weeks. So I tell him both Best Buy and Home Depot have them IN STOCK. He laughs and me and says "good luck with that, let's cancel this and you go see how that goes". So at his request I cancelled with BrothersMain and Best Buy delivered the range in 4 days. read more
