This is a really popular donut shop located in the downtown of Franklin. Nothing fancy, a very basic interior; the donuts just speak for themselves. They have a wide variety of specialty donuts. Super delicious! I think the flavors rotate pretty frequently, but when we went it was a lot of fall flavors like pumpkin, maple, and apple. There wasn't a donut not to like, these are really good. Brothers has been on my husband and I's list to try for a while and we decided to start our vacation with them. We got up at 5am and drove an hour to get there. Our first impression was how it gave hole in the wall vibes which we find typical means everything will be out of this world. There was a small line but tons of donuts and tons of preorders set for pick up. When it was finally our turn I was extremely disappointed with the service. The woman behind the counter was a bit short and a bit rude. As it was our first visit we didn't know what flavors they had and which flavors they advertised but didn't currently have as only some donut trays were labeled. I assumed the printed list of flavors was accurate so I figured I'd order from there, I was wrong. I also noticed that at least two of the flavors I had requested were available but were on refill trays so she didn't even look. Honestly it was rather disappointing to drive all that way for subpar service. All of that said we will definitely be back as the donuts were truly OUT OF THIS WORLD! We have had donuts all over New England and these are by far the best. The strawberry cream donuts had real fresh strawberries, the lemon cream was delicate and crazy flavorful, the chocolate glazed was light and fluffy (which is rare for a cake donut), and the blueberry cream was unique and delicious. We will be back but we do hope the service is better. We stopped at this donut shop as part of a quest to find the best donuts in New England. We were recommended this place as their plain donut was said to be perfectly moist with a rich flavor. I have to say that we were not disappointed! The place had some cut fall decorations on the outside. The inside of the store was not the prettiest, but for a quick donut pick up it was perfectly fine. They are open from 3:00 am until 11:00 am. They sell out fast but their selection was not bad when we went around 8:30 am. They update their Facebook account usually saying what they have left and what their current flavors are. We picked up a dozen donuts and the flavors were amazing. Our favorites included the maple covered apple, Andes mint, and vanilla dipped Oreo. The donuts were not overly sweet and had a crunchy outside and a moist inside, a perfect balance. This donut place is now my second favorite, right behind duck donuts. Having lived in New Hampshire for just over 2 years, I am sorry to say I am still looking for a great donut in this State! Brothers is a good step in that direction, but I'm not quite there. Brother's is an unsuspecting donut bakery tucked in a historic strip of brick buildings on the edge of downtown Franklin. I read the reviews here on Yelp and heeded the call to get here early. It's an hour away, so I can't be leisurely if I am planning to get a donut! Brother's donuts makes a Honey glazed donut that is its workhorse, the star. The glazing is thin and crispy, so crispy it flakes off as soon as you take a bite. The bread of the donut is a perfectly risen dough, fried to a golden brown. This is no small donut, these are substantial, dense, and a tall bite. The store itself is a bit dingy, not really someplace I want to hang out. I may be sounding snobby, but this is like a rough diner, without the warm friendly staff or amazing smells coming from the kitchen. It has some seating a all donuts are in baskets in a case behind the cashier. They also sell coffee. I have been here 3 times, each time before 10 AM and luckily there have still been donuts available for sale. But I have never been more than a couple of dozen away from them running out. One of the three times i have been here there has been another donut flavor (I don't remember what it was, I didn't buy one). I bought one of their chocolate glazed at a gas station in New Boston. It was one of the best donuts I've ever eaten. I called the station to see whose donut it was and they told me Brothers in Franklin. A day later I drove the 35 minutes up there to buy more. In a way, they should be enjoyed like a craft cupcake... but with out the level of sweetness of a cupcake. I ate my first Brothers donut this summer, the frosting/jelly combo donut and my mouth has been watering ever since, which causes problems for everyday life - when all you want is just another Brothers donut. What do you do when you find a new donut shop, drive an hour out into the country to try and locate it only to realize its closed, and then look down to find a small box sitting on top of a milk crate, which scribbled across the top reads "Mike, you're all set!" Well, you open it up of course. What do you find inside?? Donuts. Then what do you do? You eat them and share them with your friends. And then? You write about it on Yelp! My son had a baseball game in Tilton, NH and was told by a friend they have the best donuts and sells out by 11am. We were a little early so we decided to plug the address into the GPS and went. Drove up and place didn't even look opened. Looked in and a couple locals were there having their coffee. I was definitely the outsider!!! I drive through Franklin occasionally, and I've seen the grungy looking storefront on Main Street many times- dark and defunct looking I assumed they were closed down like other Franklin shops...well I'm here to say I was wrong, and that the LEGEND IS ALIVE- these donuts are AMAZING... among the best I've ever had... I brought a few dozen to my workplace , and got numerous "where did you get these donuts? They are incredible!"
