In an area full of diners, Brookside stands out. Prices are VERY reasonable, food is excellent and service is efficient. Clean and comfortable.

A really nice breakfast experience! After all our choices failed this was such a great decision. Service was good! Our waitress was super friendly. Food came out fast and was well prepared and presented. I enjoyed my well done home-fries just as I ordered them. A good overall experience and would love to come back next time I visit the area.

Diner with all the classic dishes and Greek influenced dishes at the local Rt 10 space (only available going Eastbound, so you'll have to do a u-turn if coming the other way through a jughandle). Friendly service, but the Brookside burger was tasteless and needed more seasoning for the beef, onions and mushrooms. The big roll it was on didn't help (needed to be grilled with some butter). Fries were ok, and the artichoke & spinach dip was a bit thin and lacked enough artichoke. The waffle was good, though, and the bacon was cooked properly crisp without being burnt. Verdict from the four of us around the table: Breakfast food was much better, the rest of the food like the salad or the wrap - left something to be desired.

This may quite possibly be in the top 5 of New Jersey diners. Tucked along route 10, there is no place more 1983 than here with the Ms. Pac-Man in the vestibule and the Cure playing overhead. Which is why I already loved it before I even sat down. I was waited on by the affable Joe. A gentle man in his 40s who does a great job taking care of his customers. The menu is expansive filled with specials and deals. There are the early bird deals M-F, 3-6pm too. But do not fear, Sunday night never fails with specials too. I decided on a meatball parmigiana that came with pickles, a side of cole slaw and fries. My husband had the chicken stir fry that comes with potato dinner rolls and a big pre entree salad. The food was delicious! The meatballs were smothered in mozzarella and they tasted like the kind my Italian grandmother used to make. The taste of the stir fry was equally good and the vegetables were Jersey fresh. There was so much food, I had lunch the next day too. All for $28! We did not have dessert but the cheesecake was popular at the tables near us. The other patrons were as sweet as dessert including a man with significant learning challenges who was quite talkative. We continued to smile at his older dad - it was a delight to hear him happy. We did not mind at all. We only regretted that we did not buy them dinner. (Next time!) If you never go to any other dinner again, that's fine! Go here and ask for Joe's section. And have dessert at the end. Open 7 days a week, 6a-1a. Please call to confirm the hours.

Great restaurant with many options!! You can order breakfast all day which is always a plus! The menu has many options and many have a Greek base! We tried a turkey burger with spinach, mushrooms and mozzarella cheese! Very good! There's wraps, sandwiches and dinners to choose from! There's also a wide range of desserts! The owner was very nice and the service was good!

We came in on a chilly afternoon for some soup and grilled cheese. There were a couple of other customers also having lunch but the service was very prompt. The soup was delicious and the grilled cheese, even better. It just hit the spot. Perfect, quality, NJ Diner food. We felt perfectly safe dining indoors with the precautions and PPE that were in place at Brookside. I'd recommend their chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese to anyone!

My family and I frequented Brookside pre-covid. At least one Sunday a month we would come here and have a family breakfast. The servers are consistently nice and provide very attentive service. We usually get different variations of omelettes. I always ask for egg whites and they make sure to use fresh eggs as opposed to the boxed stuff. If i get a veggie omelet it is jam packed with veggies- no wimpy weepy omelettes here. If you get one of the breakfast specials, it actually comes with a coffee AND a small juice. There is no need to choose one or the other here people. IDK that just blows my mind.

#5 breakfast combo: western omelete with cheese, 2 pancakes, oj and coffee for $7.29 weekday price

So i came here because my dad was in a doctor's appointment nearby for a couple of hours. There's plenty of parking in the parking lot and seating indoors. The staff sat me pretty quickly and served me water and took my order in a timely fashion. I got the breakfast #5 which was the western omelet with cheese, replaced the homefries and toast with two stacks of pancakes, juice and coffee/tea for only $7.29 ($6 something without cheese; $8 something on the weekends). Everything was pretty good, you can't really mess it up haha. Really good deal though. (Although there was a mix up in where they overpriced me so make sure you check the check before paying). You pay up at front (i didn't know that or where to pay which was kind of annoying because it made me feel stupid, but i guess i should've assumed since my diner works the same way)-but there's like 3 counters with registers sooooo... Anyways, definitely a good deal on breakfast, and pretty good service (minus the couple of incidents).

Amazing breakfast In town for the weekend and found this gem. Definitely legit and friendly service.

Amazing breakfast. Definitely would go back and I've had request to bring breakfast sandwiches back home. Friendly service too.

    Ribeye Steak and eggs

Atmosphere: The Brookside Diner exterior is a modern diner. It isn't metallic or shiny, but it is an appealing diner. Parked in the lot, were several vintage cars including an old Thunderbird (all from customers). The inside of the Brookside Diner has several banners. There is a full-length bar, multiple tables, and booths too. It's everything you want or need in a diner. Coffee: The coffee at the Brookside Diner is brewed hot and fresh. The waiter added plenty of whipped cream, and I was given plenty of refills. Food: The Brookside Diner has everything you want and need in a diner. The Brookside Diner has all-day breakfast, lunch, and dinner options too. Since it was 7:30 am, I ordered one of my favorite diner breakfasts: steak and eggs. I had the choice of "ribeye steak and eggs" or "sliced steak and eggs," I thought: why not and decided to treat myself to the ribeye steak and eggs. I underestimated the size of the ribeye steak and eggs. The steak itself must have been over 16 ounces. It was cooked exactly how I asked, rare, and I have no complaints. In fact, it was one of my more favorite diner steak meals (including dinner). The home fries tasted like pure vegetable oil, which I expect from many diners. Dessert: A The chocolate chip muffins at the Brookside Diner looked appetizing, so I decided to take one to go on my hike. Since I was out hiking, everything tasted good, but I appreciated how dense the muffin was.  Plus, there were plenty of chocolate chips. Brookside Diner Service: Our waitress at the Brookside Diner was friendly, and our food came out fast. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Overall Thoughts/Would I come back? I enjoyed the Brookside Diner, and if I get the opportunity, I will be back. The entire menu looks delicious, and I would love to stop by and try a few dinner options.

We were there on a Saturday afternoon at lunch and it was a full house. How ever hard I tried my coffee cup never made it to empty without being refilled. The food was excellent as well. I order the same breakfast every time I go to any diner. A spinach and feta omelette. Some diners call it Florentine. Some call it a Greek. The preparation was perfect. Firm, no burn spots, super fresh spinach and just the right amount of feta. The home fries were on point as well. My wife ordered the patty melt which she said was superb. Again, perfectly prepared. The fries were terrific as well. The Whippany Diner was in our regular rotation for many years and then we stopped going altogether. I have no idea why but we will certainly return again soon. A top notch diner for sure. Give it a go!

I agree with the reviews I'm seeing here - it's a diner. So long story short, back when I first…read moremoved to the area we had a bunch of diners we tried on Route 10. From east to west there was: * Ritz: only the longtime residents went there out of habit * Golden Touch: the "Roach" for what you might find there, but our go-to as cheap teenagers * Whippany: tiny and food was decent * Brookside: the best atmosphere and food, our choice if we were willing to drive a bit Well, two of the above have changed hands - the RItz still has the name but isn't the same diner, and Golden Touch is now just East Hanover Diner. Brookside is gone for reasons unknown. Leaving Whippany Diner as the last place I've known since... I guess I can call it my childhood at this point, going on 30 years. And no, not much has changed. Stuck in the middle of a jughandle, you're still going to be tested trying to park without scratching your car or someone else's. Try their lot, or park across the jughandle ramp? And then cross that on foot? Huh. Once you make it inside, it feels as cramped as the parking lot. We were led to a table up against a mirror that's next to a door, so my right eye saw people coming and going while my left eye saw... me. Short story long: Ambiance is not doing any favors here. Service? We were attended to well, food came out on time. Only odd occurrence was my friend's water was refilled and mine wasn't, but ours were at the exact same level? I'll let that slide. Finally, the food. My friend's chicken fingers looked rather weak and burnt. My crock of French onion soup was fine; though rather light on onion, the cheese came through. The spinach and feta omelet was actually a winner - fluffy, full of chunks of feta. But the side of hash browns? I would more call them pressed frozen potato slices. The verdict: Took me way too many years to write this review. Some things never change. Maybe they should, but if they keep packing their parking lot and outliving their competitors, I guess they don't have to.

You do get a free cigar (which is actually a pretty nice, brand name stick in most cases) with your meal, which I am sure goes with the cost. Before the world went utterly insane with inflation ... It used to be one of the best deals ever. The food was $12.95 plus the free cigar! Now, it's more like $23 per sandwich. Owch. The best value was the cheese plate, which at $15 was huge and included fruit. Now, that cheese platter is actually smaller than it used to be and costs $44! The decor is pretty cool ... dark and moody ... but there are a couple TVs with sports playing and high ceilings. The air purification makes it smell a lot less like cigar smoke than it used to ... but know that whatever clothes you wear here will likely need a dry cleaning after. The waitresses have been here forever ... and there are a lot of regulars.
