I guess these stores think people are stupid. They raise the prices on the items being marked as penny deals. How do I know? I at least look at the nearby of the same to see if it's inline for honesty and they get a big fat F. The name brand right next to this was cheaper than 1 of those. If you're going to lie about prices to cheat the customer why don't you say buy one get one 50% off instead of this shady greedy behavior!!!! A lot of your prices are even more expensive than Albertsons and that's a feat in itself. I won't ever even look at another penny deal. read more

I shopped at Brookshires yesterday for the very first time, after receiving five years of recommendations from my granddaughters and neighbors about the greatness of this store, since I moved here, figuring that in preparation for the storm, that it would be a more manageable place to shop if I went early. This was true. I also expected them to be out of most of the essentials like milk, eggs, bread, like everyone else - which was also true. I found the store to be clean, a pleasant place to shop. Again, true. My problem wasn't until at the checkout. You see, I walk with a cane, post Op, spine surgery. Yesterday was the time that I walked the store without using the as I call it, the electric weary walker wagon - Because I didn't see any. Fair enough, it's a busy day, maybe they're in use? However, upon leaving I noticed that the wagons are tucked next to a service desk, kind of hidden from regular view, only two of them, where a customer wouldn't expect to find them, kind of like they don't want them used in the first place so they don't have to go find them kind of thing. Back it up a bit, I was checking out in the self check out and the fellow supervising all of us at the time, asked an elderly customer, if she needed help out to which she replied yes. He told the rest of us customers he'd be right back. That's when everything stalled on all four self checkouts. We needed more training. Then a very nice lady from another check out came over to assist before he came back. Then when he came back and stood with another guy, over by the service desk, grazing and talking, arms crossed. They watched as I pulled out my cane and fumbled with pushing my cart and using that darn thing, but I myself received no offers of assistance, no have a good day, not even a smile, just watching me. Just then, a loud, panicked intercom call came over asking for carts from the parking lot. Four young men hurriedly ran around me to get those carts like there was a fire. No there wasn't, just money to be made. Then, at my car, I knew someone was standing by me, but I was too busy concentrating on placing the bags, especially the one from the deli so it didn't leak out, putting it in its proper positioning. It was one of those fellows rounding up the carts. He had the nerve to ask if I needed assistance loading my car, after he stood there and watched ME load it? And he asked that after the last bag was placed. I just put bottled water and bags with canned goods in there and you want to load a bag with twinkies? Thanks, I think I can do it myself, Brookshires. From now on and elsewhere. I'll give it a two review only because of the very sweet lady that works in the deli. She was a sweetheart. read more

I was in there a few days ago and I was wearing a t shirt with Jesus on it and I ask one of the employees where something was at and he acted real cocky about it and I found what I was looking for and walked away then I returned to that same isle because I had forgotten something to hear him telling another employee he didn't know Jesus was a Nxxer If we had been anywhere else he wouldn't have gotten away with that. His name tag says Eddie and he's a scrawny looking white boy and he was talking to a heavyset guy with long hair who obviously thought it was funny . I put my items back and went elsewhere. It's all about kindness and empathy when an employee goes above and beyond their position to help. I went in to our Weatherford Brookshires to pick up a few items for a church meal that we would attend later in the evening. Looking like a total "ragamuffin" with no makeup or hair I thought I'd do an "in N Out Burger" but NOOOO! I found out in the check out line that my credit cards were in a different purse. The young man bagging and the checker kindly pulled my cart aside and said she would void the transaction. I ran to my car humiliated and dug around hoping to find some cash as heading back home was not an option. I found $22 and sheepishly headed back in the store, grabbed my basket, swung around to the self check out area whereby I took the absolute needed items out to purchase. About that time, God sent an angel, Shenetta (sp) who sweetly stepped over to assist this shredded lady and helped me count down to my $22 ending with $21.60 final expense. She was by far the kindest, non judgmental person placed on this earth and she will definitely have a golden nugget on her crown for helping this lady on a Saturday morning last week! Just a heart being attentive proves Texas outshines Californias "care less of people attitude" social graces any day!!!! read more

The staff is rude and inconsiderate. We were left sitting for more than thirty (30) minutes to get flu shots. When I went to the window, after about twenty (20) minutes and rang the bell, I was ignored; however, there were people coming to the window and picking up prescriptions. Finally, a man entered the pharmacy area and we thought that would increase the number of people working. I waited a short period and I went to the window where he was working and he told me he was busy helping others. I guess that meant people who just walked in, not the ones that had waited for almost half an hour. We finally went up to the window and told one of the three, who all at that time chimed in, and told the one that we would go somewhere else and get our shots. They seemed shocked that we had finally had enough and just wanted to leave. We possibly would have had to sit much longer if we had not decided to leave. We drove a few blocks to CVS and had the paper work, shots and out the door in less than fifteen (15) minutes. Do not know who owns the pharmacy in Brookshires in Weatherford, but whoever they/it are/is, there should be an employee house cleaning from one end of that pharmacy to the other!! read more

I am not crazy about this store. They have a lack-luster produce section, where I had to educate the manager on what a rotten avocado looks like. They offer limited vegetarian food options, and apparently whoever orders for them has no palate for spicy foods because they do not carry any of the spicy options in their products. (Veggie sausages, hummus, salsas.) For convenience, ​I run in to pick up RX's and grab my essentials now and then. Yesterday one of the package guys said the n-word in a story about his dog to my youngest son. It was raining so I got in the car while my 14-year-old son helped the man put groceries in the back of our car. I saw his face of shock through the rearview mirror when the man said it. I knew something upsetting happened and was already driving away by the time my son finished the retelling. My children do not hear that word. It was jolting to him and sickening to me. While I might stop in for a thing or two from a sub-par store, I will not support a place who condones this sort of hatred. It is extremely disappointing to think this is STILL the behavior of some people this day in time. I will be following up on this review. read more

SERVICE! Courteous people, good selection of foods. All of these are important to the customer, and Brookshire's has them all. Normally we have good experiences with Brookshires. We have shopped there for years. Recently a bad experience has made us change our grocery store choice. A young man who works at the store brought our groceries to the car, which is a service we really enjoy. Unfortunately, he attempted to take a pair of headphones from the back of the car while loading the groceries. When my wife saw him, she asked him to be careful with them since they're expensive. He then left them there. She called the manager to let them know what happened. The next grocery trip we found him still employed. Our trust with them is gone, so we will have to go to another store. read more

They have most everything you can think of for normal dinners during the week. I also like the fact that their people bring the groceries to my car after I'm finished. This also helps with stray carts roaming the parking lot. I recommend Brookshire's and will continue to shop there as long as we're living close to this store. read more
