Too bad the people running this place are what ruin it. This is the closest laundromat to me, but I'd rather haul my laundry two extra blocks than deal with the attitude here again. I came in, started my wash, and came back about thirty minutes later to move my clothes to the dryer. The warm welcome I got? An angry "Hey you! What are you doing here?" shouted across the room. Nothing like being treated like a criminal for doing laundry. Another employee saw what happened and tried to smooth it over by saying, "I'm so sorry, we just have people who come in here to mess up the bathroom." Oh great, that definitely makes being yelled at feel so much better. Apparently wearing a T-shirt and gym shorts is enough to raise suspicion now. Who knew laundromats had a dress code? Maybe next time I'll wear a tux so they know I'm here to wash clothes and not commit a crime. Drop Off Review: They really messed up my clothes. All shrunk and faded and the couple of graphic items I own (reflection graphics on work out clothes) were completely washed off. My clothes are now a size too small. My long sleeve shirts don't even touch my wrists anymore. I had another bad experience here in the past receiving my clothes back wet. I've been going elsewhere for drop off for the past year or so but my usual laundromat was closed. They also started using a REALLY strong scented detergent that smells awful, like a really bad fruity(?) scented candle. It smells like low quality soap and not clean laundry, I wish the smell were more neutral. The smell doesn't fade at all and I've had people comment on it as well. I'm giving them two stars because the people that work there are nice and the hours are great, but I don't recommend it for drop off. Maybe self serve is better. read more

This is one of the nicer laundromats by far! The attendant is extremely helpful, patient, and friendly and took the time to show me how the payment system and machines work, and gave me tips on how to get free money added to my card (register it and you get a dollar on the spot, and once you earn 500 points you get 5 bucks added for free as well). Super clean, very easy place to chill while you wait. Big screen TV, soap vending machines with great prices and excellent variety of brands. I'll definitely be back here! read more

I have updated my review to four stars. This is after a second experience with drop off service, which was absolutely five star. I averaged the two reviews [(1+5)/2=3] and added one star for the efforts of the owner of the business, who contacted me, through 'Yelp,' after reading my original negative review. The fact that the owner went out of his way to contact me, is really impressive. Customer service is a dying animal. Also, the woman who received my laundry, upon my return visit, knew of the review and explained how sorry the business was that it had happened (noting that the owner had gone out of his way to learn why my laundry had been returned to me in mostly unwearable condition - I've removed the photos previously posted). Never again. We came here thinking we could get our grocery store and laundry run done at the same time under the stay at home order. We thought this would be a good one stop shop with the key food next door. We were wrong. We did the wash and put our clothes in the dryers before doing our grocery run. Only to come back to find the door of one of our dryers open, and our 1 queen size duvet comforter, 2 sets of sheets, open. We were told we put too much in and the door wouldn't stay closed.. odd that an industrial strength dryer couldn't withstand this, but ok. We removed the sheets and let the comforter dry alone. However, when I asked the woman if she could give me a dry with her card (just 7 minutes) since the blankets were still soaking wet and I paid for 35 minutes. And she said "no, bc it's not our fault. You put too much clothes in"... I responded with "I get that, (even though this really shouldn't be "too much" for the dryer), but I didn't get the full 35 minutes of drying that I paid for, and I had to run out". It didn't matter. Close to tears bc this whole situation just sucks, I tearily said "thanks so much for nothing" to which she snidely replied with "you're welcome". Sorry. No. It might be a convenient location but especially now I refuse to give my business to people with zero empathy, understanding fully that "this is just business", I don't care. This woman couldn't give me a 35 cents courtesy dry. Don't waste your breath here unless you want to use 4 dryers for 2 loads of laundry, light loads only. read more

However, one member of staff Michelle has been rude and contemptuous on more than one occasion to the point where I will never return. I've had several disappointing experiences at this laundromat. A few years ago, I dropped off a load of laundry and everything came back stained. Recently during the pandemic, staff and friends of staff are often eating with masks off inside while I am trying to do laundry. I've lived 2 blocks away from this joint for just over 2 years now. It's been my go-to for laundry and I've been very happy with the service and quality of this location. The guys that renovated this place a year ago did a great job...they cleaned out the filters in the machines, put up flat screen TVs so I can watch Ellen and The Steve Harvey Show while I wait, and even offer complimentary soap, free wifi, and clean facilities. It's remarkably consistent. My only real gripe is this price increases; a large machine wash is $4.75. But then again everything is going up these days: mortgage payments, health care premiums, my waistline...whaddaya gonna do? I'm going to keep doing laundry here, that's what I'm gonna do. read more

When I walked in here I didn't see what all the high star ratings were all about. Now that I'm finishing my drying cycle I feel compelled to chime in. I had a dryer that was whining a little when it started. The owner (I think) came over- was super polite, gave me four quarters when I assured him I only put in one and switched me to another dryer. Then he diligently went about fixing the whine. This place is in a crappy looking strip mall but you can tell it's well cared for. All the machines and counters are super clean and there's a bathroom. I didn't drive here but it's pretty nice they have parking. I always came here before the new management switch -- never a wait for a machine, easy to do my grocery shopping during loads, close to home, etc. -- but now I'm an even happier customer. They fixed the machines so you don't have to put the same quarter in the same machine 18 times before it goes in. They added TVs, magazines and Wifi. They gave me a 20% discount on my dry cleaning when it took a day longer than I expected. I hadn't even thought to complain. And they are super friendly!! How does one review a laundromat... 1. Clean place with free wifi, tv, and always functioning equipment 2. Staff are hit or miss and unfortunately most often misses (one young woman always looks like she wants to kick me in the face so that's pleasant). 3. Wednesday's they have free Tide pods (even though I go on Mondays) 4. Decent prices better than a couple places I've seen but let's me honest an extra quarter isn't going to make you walk four more blocks. Specific update regarding the mesh bag nonsense, from the one time that I sent wash 'n fold here before the final disagreement: they throw the mesh bag in the wash and dryer, and the contents of the mesh bags come back to you in wrinkled, wadded-up balls, still within the mesh bag. It looked like popcorn. I had to budget my own time to smooth and fold everything that I had placed in the annoying mesh bags. It's wash 'n fold. When you pay for wash 'n fold, you are paying for somebody else to wash, dry, and fold your laundry for you, because you don't personally have the time to do it yourself. Brooklynites Laundry makes extra work for the clients with too many specific demands. If I cannot rely on a wash 'n fold service to wash and fold ALL my laundry--no fuss, no muss, no added work for me--then I can't see the point in shelling out cash for it. I may as well do it myself. Also, it has always been EXTREMELY annoying that they shut down the credit card machines roughly half an hour (it varies) prior to closing. This forces the customer to pay an ATM fee at the supermarket, or run to their bank and hope that they make it back in time. This is inconvenient, especially when you consider the current societal push toward cash-free commerce. They should have a big neon sign outside saying that they shut off the credit card machine at a specific time before closing. I often go weeks without having to use cash in my day-to-day life, and I enjoy the credit card rewards benefits that come with going cash-free. They should either leave the credit card machines on until 10 pm, or change their closing time to 9 pm or 9:30 pm or whenever it is that they turn off the credit card machine. read more

Since the first day that I walked in to wash my clothes I have alway felt welcomed. The young woman that works there names jean always answers questions and is very friendly. I walk in every Tuesday and am always greeted by her by my name. The laundromat itself is very clean and spacious. The only laundromat in Greenpoint that should be considered, as far as I'm concerned. I've never had a hard time finding a washer or dyer to use, even when the place is busy. Free wifi! What can I say? It's a complete must in order to get work done while I wait. The staff is super helpful. The only time I've had a problem was when a washer was broken (this particular machine had an issue with adding water to the load) and I already put money in. It wasn't a huge deal, they profusely apologized and gave me quarters for another machine. The prices are fair for the area. And honestly, even when the place is at it's busiest, it's not noticeable because of the large space. All in all, this is the only place I will ever do my laundry in the neighborhood! read more

Hours are amazing. Perfect for those days you run want to do laundry at the end of the day, or when every other laundromat in your area is closed. They sanitize the area well. Let me begin by saying this laundromat is so good that we lug our clothes 2 miles just to wash them. When our old laundromat closed down 3 years ago, we were on the hunt for a replacement. My husband encouraged us to try Brooklynites as it had ample parking and always seemed clean. Fast forward 3 years later and we are still loyal customers. PROS- 1. The staff is phenomenal. Jean is always a pleasure to converse with and she treats all customers with patience and respect. When the owners are there, they often strike up conversations with their customers and thank them for their business. 2.The machines and dryers are clean and well maintained. They have an ample amount of laundry carts, some with rods for hanging, some without. 3. They've upgraded from a coin system to a laundry card which gives you bonuses with refills of a certain amount. 4. They offer free WiFi, free soap (Tide Pods) on Wednesdays, a large selection of books to peruse while waiting, and tennis balls to borrow when drying. I highly recommend Brooklynites and would encourage everyone to give them a try! read more

My husband and I's laundry was returned to us, after paying $40, completely UNCLEANED. After calling all morning, the manager returned our call and agreed to refund us $50. While this solution is respectable, our inconvenience must be acknowledged. We still have to have all of our clothes rehashed and the time and effort it takes to do so, will be sunken twice over. Good laundry with plenty of space and machines and it's not too expensive to to wash or dry clothes here. $2.25 for the smaller washer machines and one quarter gets you 7 min in the dryer. I typically only spend a dollar on the dryer and it can fit multiple wash loads. I always pass the employee working here and she's pleasant. In the middle of a shopping center, there is always parking, and right next to Key Food, I can get my laundry and food shopping done every Friday night after work before I even get home! I love it! This place is clean, there are ALWAYS available machines...I never have to wait long for a dryer...and ... IT'S AIR CONDITIONED!!!!! The people who work there are pleasant and helpful and i never have to stand around waiting for someone to give me change. Plus, the dryers are nice and hot and I'm always all dry...nothing is ever damp when I'm done! Sunrise is under new ownership, it is now being called Brooklynite's Laundromat. I had the pleasure of meeting Brendan and his brother who have made positive changes in the overall look of the laundromat including repairing all of the machines. They are both very pleasant and hands on. The place was nice and bright after being completely painted, all lights were on and the best of all is that it was cool thanks to the air conditioning. I'm very dissapointed in my experience at this laundromat. I consider myself a conscientious person as im a store manager within the food service industry. These guys simply don't get it. Never take your dry cleaning here!! I always get dirty looks and a general attitude whenever I arrived to do my laundry in the past so despite feeling unwelcomed it remains the closest place to my house so i continued to frequent this establishment. This last trip, however, will have been my last. I took several expensive pieces in to be dry cleaned including a new sports coat. They older woman who generally works the front counter took my clothes and washed them instead in the regular washer/dryer and ruined all of my items as they shrunk and were battered beyond repair. I asked them why they were laundered and they simply said it was my fault and that I didn't ask for them to be dry cleaned. No apology offered. After 13 years of living in this neighborhood, we got a car. This has completely changed the laundry experience. That may sound like exaggeration, but it's not. The people at our old laundromat were rude, and it was packed every day, from opening til closing. The first time we walked into Brooklynites, we were welcomed and the owner offered to show us how to use the machines. He also explained how to use the free WiFi, and the other amenities. I have been living in Greenpoint for years now and I was a regular at this place...what was I thinking!? Their staff is very rude. They always work really hard to find something to charge you more. I used to do drop offs because I just don't have time to do the laundry myself. The result is that they lost so many of my clothes. I also find clothes that didn't belong to me. All in all tho I think that what upsets me the most is that they really don't have any interest in being nice and treat their regulars well. read more

I use the drop off service about once a week or so and I'm very happy with the service. The staff is helpful, always accommodating my requests to hang dry certain items, they are quick with the turn around and the punch card (10 drop offs = 1 drop off free) is a nice plus. read more

I've only come here to do my own laundry and drop off dry cleaning. Every single time it's been a pleasant experience - and doing laundry in nyc is rarely pleasant. I've never had trouble getting a machine (I normally come Sunday nights). They have free wifi, a clean bathroom, and helpful staff. The machines are a bit pricey, but it's worth it to me for the conveniences. There's a free parking lot and key food next door, so I can multitask and get groceries while my clothes are running.
