Last trip down to North Padre Island we rented a condo right down the street from Brooklyn Pie Co. When we got inside our condo, we discovered the AC wasn't working. The property management company moved us to another building right down the street. Then, we discovered the power was out in that whole building from the storm the night b4.
Hot & starving by now, instead of moving AGAIN we decided to call it a day, jump in the pool & then go check out the Brooklyn Pie Co. while we waited for the power to be restored in our building.
WOW. Talk about a happy ending to a bad day! After a quick swim, we walked in, the place was packed & a line was forming out the door to get pizza's to go. We decided to dine in & found a small 2-top over by the far wall with a perfect view of the kitchen & pizza ovens where all the magic was taking place.
The kitchen was packed with college age guys topping pizzas & tossing them in the ovens. One guy was twirling pizzas over his head & two other dudes were topping pizzas, another dude was taking them out the ovens & putting them in boxes to go, while two chicks served all the people dining in. It was quite a show, pizzas were getting made systematically & everyone seemed thrilled with their pies, wings & salads.
We decided to try a little of everything. We ordered a Caesar salad with anchovies, hot wings with ghost pepper sauce on the side, beers & a custom pizza.
The Cesar salad was fresh & the wings were AMAZBALLS! They were perfectly fried. The HOT wasn't so hot but the ghost pepper sauce on the side was Killer! It was really HOT! OMG!!! I LOVED it ;)
Our custom pizza came out & it looked perfect with all our extra toppings however, it was not fully cooked in the center. We brought this to their attention & the manager/owner came over, agreed it was a tad bit under & insisted he make us a whole new pie. He wanted to know if he could get us some wings or something while we waited, he appeared VERY concerned about us & wanted to take care of us. My hubby told him we were fine we had wings no worries.
The manager/owner made us a new pie & personally served us. The PIZZA WAS FANTASTIC! Perfect in every way. All the toppings were super fresh quality ingredients. The sauce was savory, the toppings were plentiful & the dough was incredible! I'm normally a thin crust person but this was the most incredible hand tossed pizza I have ever had in my LIFE & I'm a chef from NYC. I never lived in Brooklyn, I'm from Manhattan & I have eaten a lot of NYC pizza & all I got to say is KOWONGZA! FORGETABOUTIT! This pizza is the BOMB! The dough is soft & chewy & crispy OH.MY.GAWD! If you like real hand tossed pizza your gona LOVE this pie!
You can fold it in half like NY pizza if that is your thing, as you can see in my pics, my hubby is crammin it in his pie hole folded! Lol :)'
I LOVE pizza & I have eaten my fair share from NYC to Italy. I don't rave about pizza often but I am thrilled to add Brooklyn Pie Company to my #2 spot of "Best Pizzas for me Pie hole, Mama Mia!" List.
Yep. It's that good.
Highly recommend. read more
