Omg, worst establishment I have ever been to. You know a place was horrible if you are traumatized by the experience to leave a review almost 2 months later. I usually brush a bad experience under the rug, but this experience was beyond horrible.
If I could give zero stars I would.
So....
It was my first time in DC and I am from Houston. When I travel I do not expect the food to just be great but I expect the service and hospitality to make up for that deficit. But honey child let me tell you I never thought I would encounter a restaurant that not only had bad food but horrible customer service, in fact the service was worse than the food.
A group and friends and I went there for brunch (mind you we had a reservation), I ordered the chicken and waffles cause no one can brutally screw up chicken and waffles. WRONG!!!!!
Oh.My.Goodness. the waffle was harder that an overdone eggo waffles, like it felt like stone, and the chicken tenders (yes I said that correctly) chicken tenders went tasteless. Like so hard it was scraping my esophagus. No exaggeration. It honestly felt like they placed the whole plate in the microwave and drained the moisture out of the food. It felt like leftovers that were rewarmd. (Just a little hint for the readers, if you want to rewarm food in the microwave, to avoid it getting hard, as a cup a 5th of the way full of water into the microwave next to your food, the steam will keep it soft)
As I digresd, I asked for salt and pepper shakers to help, but it took the waitress 15 mins to bring the condiments. By the time she came back with it, the food was cold, because moisture deprived food gets cold fast. Anyway, I added the salt and pepper to the food and as I already figured, it didn't help. But like i said i don't complain at restaurants and am. Never surprised if the food is subpar, because I come from a food city. So I wasn't going to hold that against the waitress or the establishment.
Let's move onto the mimosas
So, most places when you order a mimosa, you can order it by the carafe. So when we asked for 2 carafes, tell me why she brought out 2 bottle of champagne reused plastic flutes and no juice. We then asked her if there was juice and she returned with 2-12 oz clear Dixie cups filled with juice. Like the cups you get a shot of Henny in at the club. My mind was blown, but it was alcohol, it should've helped with the experience. So were drinking and enjoying our own company and the"mimosas" (well I was drinking straight champagne out of a new dixie cup, didn't really trust the juice that didn't come with the lid in a Dixie cup)
Any who we asked for our and my cousin ordered another mimosa. She brought us out checks, we paid and then the brought the champagne and a cup of juice to the table. As soon as we opened the bottle, she said that it was time for us to go because they have another reservation waiting. I sat there shocked. We asked if we can get a refund for the bottle we just bought she said we couldn't because it was open. We asked if we could just finish the drink before leaving. She said no that we could take it to go. She then brought out what I believe to be 20 oz solo cups with a LID and straws. I then told her, I was not leaving until I finished, because it isnt right to rush someone off, not allow them to get a refund for the bottle that they were not going enjoy. I told he she could wait 15-20 mins to allow us to drink those mimosas and gather ourselves, because she shouldn't have sold us that last bottle if she had the sole intention of kicking us out after we paid. She then went and got security. I continued to sit until I finished my drink. The security stood there playing macho man, and I silently sipped (yes I was being petty lol) after about 6 mins, I finished my drink and then got up and then the security guard told me to put my mask back on. I just ignored him cause at that point he was just being an asshole trying to get me to do something. I was already leaving. I didn't put the mask back on until I got out side. I mean I already had it off to eat. read more
