Came here for brunch to celebrate a friends birthday along with a few others. Generally, if you make a reservation for a specific time and have to pay a deposit for the reservation, you generally expect for the table to be ready/available when you get there. Well, that was not the case here. Imagine having to wait outside on a bit of a breezy day waiting for your table at your reserved time to be available. Imagine waiting for a while... not a mere 10 mins or so. Also, strangely, while brunch is supposed to be all day here, they ran out of champagne relatively early in the day. Running out of champagne on a Sunday during peak brunch time doesn't really seem ideal and speaks to poor preparation or poor management, perhaps both. In this same vein, there was a bit of a struggle for clean silverware and champagne flutes. All of that being said, the manager did make efforts to rectify the various issues and the food was good. It's just unfortunate all of the other issues dampened the experience as a whole. I likely wouldn't come back for brunch.

This was a cute gem that we found while looking for a brunch spot. I loved the decor and the music was really great. Its one of the few spots in the area that allowed walk-ins and wasnt booked up. We sat downstairs and ordered a few items. Mimosa's, bacon, french toast and chicken & waffles. Everything was really good and the staff checked on us often. I look forward to coming back in the spring and sitting on the patio.

Came here for Sunday brunch at the 1PM slot. We knew it wouldn't be that jumping at that time but they were playing Beyonce back to front so we were vibing. They didn't have bottomless but they did have $25 bottles of champagne (J roger) and one juice to accompany it. This was enough for me and one friend and our other friend got cocktails which turned out to be made with casa migos and $17 a drink lol. I got the steak and eggs and was very satisfied. We all enjoyed our food and the very nice decor. I'm sure later slots would be more of a turn up but I would recommend. Our server was really sweet and easy to hail her down.

I came here with my coworkers, we had reservations for the Harlot but they had a gas problem in the kitchen so this restaurant was down the street. If you are looking to turn up for brunch, this is the place to visit. It is not that large but it is very comfortable. The service was good food came out in a timely manner. The food was pretty good and tasty. Stop by and check them out.

First timer at this cozy lounge, and it left a great taste on my pallet. From the beautiful bar beauties to wonderful brick oven treats everything was better than bar food. This two level establishment really serves up the party, with a live dj on both levels, cool photo ops and hookah. #enjoygoodpeople

We came in here full, having just had brunch. However, we came for the ambiance and music which was great. We did order champagne and orange juice on the side, and it was tasty. I also ordered the dry rub wings which were delicious. There was a line outside so as to maintain a controlled crowd size I'd imagine, but it seemed that all the table were occupied. We waited about 30 minutes with no regrets. Although I do wonder why the line attendants always seem to take it a tad to seriously, IMO, exerting control somewhat. The line attendant here seemed more mellow, but carried the aurora of control nonetheless. I definitely enjoyed myself, the music and the server and highly recommend the wings. They were simply delicious.

Heard about this place for months now. Glad I got to finally check them out. Chill vibes and decent drinks. Definitely some eye candy (the bouncers). Located right next to Amsterdam. This venue has two levels. There's hookah (upstairs). The first floor has the backdrop with "Brooklyn" (great photo opp). I liked the Brooklyn inspired drinks (Crown Heights, Wingate). I may come back but not pressed. I didn't like the automatic gratuity they included (I wasn't at a table). I was literally standing at the bar.

I hosted a friend birthday party at Brooklyn on U last weekend so my review is for my experience on a Friday Night during happy hour. I spend so much time on U street that I've always wanted to check this place out! I was under the impression it was a black owned spot but not entirely sure as I've heard they are making some changes and in transition. So, let's start with the good: Prior to our visit, I arranged table/dinner reservations with the Friday promoter. He reserved two dinner booths for the birthday party. When I met him , he was very friendly and accommodating. I was able to bring balloons into the lounge as well. It was definitely a nice touch. Next, it's a beautiful space. The lower level is more of the bar, Dj area, and dining room. This is where the after work happy hour jumps off. There is a "Brooklyn" greenery wall near the DJ booth and it's an excellent place to take pictures. I would recommend everyone getting a picture there! Brooklyn on U has happy hour deals and you can get anything from pizza, to chicken wings, and tacos. I appreciated how our server allowed for everyone to have separate checks (I requested that upfront) by taking everyone's credit card. The dj playing during happy hour is very good. We all were dancing, dropping it low , and celebrating our friend birthday. After 10, the 2nd level opens up and it turns into more of a club. You truly feel like you are in a different place and in a nightclub. There is ViP, dance floor and another bar. When I went up there for a second, it was pretty packed and people were drinking and enjoying themselves. Now to the not so good: I ordered the sangria pitcher which was on happy hour. I was disappointed because it wasn't good at all. You couldn't taste ANY alcohol and you definitely were not getting a buzz off of it. Next, I ordered old bay and buffalo wings. When they arrived, they looked good but they were so bland and where was the seasoning.?!! They were so horrible. I almost sent them back. I was definitely still hungry after I left. I think our server was overwhelmed (Francisco ?) that I had to remind him to bring stuff I ordered. I deducted star because this place doesn't go tasty food. So, here is when the nights gets bad. Brooklyn on U doesn't have coat check so I put my coat in the booth. I'm getting ready to leave and my coat goes missing. I asked the bouncers and bartenders if someone turned in a coat to no avail. I search the bar area and NOTHING. So, essentially, I left with no coat in the cold. I kept calling the establishment over the next five days. No one answered the phone. In addition, to that, I went to Brooklyn on U Instagram page and direct messaged them and no response. Yet, someone was creating stories and making posts. Also, I texted the phone number that was on the voicemail and again,crickets.... All I wanted was a response to see if anyone turned it in or if the establishment has cameras. Finally, after I commented on a IG post and a week later, the response to my missing coat was "I'm not sure. You are welcome to stop by and check." To make matters worse, I went in yesterday and sure enough the coat was found in the front of the bar. Could no one check or respond to messages during the week and advise me it was there? Because of this, I deducted stars because customer service doesn't to be their niche. So, if you want a sexy spot on U street to take pictures and dance, this is definitely one of the classy and bigger establishments on the U street corridor.

Brooklyn on your hosted the first DC Black Girls Brunch! It was a sold out event and amazing. The food they served was great, and for a black event, you always worry how the chicken and waffles will be for brunch. I think they did a pretty good job, however. One thing I was not a fan of was the grits, I am VERY picky though so this could just me a me things as well. The drinks are made strong and well so I was please about that. A Hendricks tonic was about 16 after group gratuity and wax were added. But if you would like brunch with your tribe, a cute instagramable place with good food and even better drinks you may wanna come here.

Wings, Bacon and Eggs

Wings were great. Eggs blah, bacon to crispy. Do not get chicken and waffles. The waffles are very small and the chicken is small chicken strips. Our reservation was for 3pm. We did not get our food until 4:15. The bad part about it was that it all came out at different times. Bacon came out earlier than the wings. Then the eggs came out last and this was all after 4pm. The rest of my party did not get their food until 4:30pm. At 5pm they said we had to move because it was about to turn into a day party. However I thought it was a brunch day party. Doesn't make sense. They said they needed the table because people are about to buy bottles. They moved us to a small table for 7 of us. We literally could not even put our drinks down or plates to eat. FURTHERMORE ONE PARTY HAD A TABLE CLOTH AND FANCY MENUS WE DID NOT. I guess they pick and choose who can get an upscale experience.

On my visit to DC I had brunch here and it was awesome food, service they even cared that my food was taking too long so the added wings to my order! The decor was cute also!

My cousin had her birthday dinner here-- a new, trendy spot on the popular U Street corridor. Parking is rough as always on U, so I decided to Lyft. When I arrived, the exterior of the building is white and at the door are 2 entrances with an outside seating view of U Street (Only 3 stools) This place is 2 floors so the downstairs is pretty posh and has plenty of seating. The table I was dining with was upstairs where there were several tv's and a DJ. Loved the music! I wanted to dance before placing my food & drink order lol. I reviewed the menu prior and honestly had no clue what I was going to order. Based off the mixture of reviews and not a lot of healthy seafood options made it difficult to make a decision but to my surprise when I arrived, there were several new items on the menu that made my decision easier! I was torn between the blackened shrimp salad and the shrimp & grits but since I knew I was going to have a cocktail, I decided on the shrimp & grits just to have something heavier on my stomach. From the cocktail menu, I ordered the Brooklyn 1914 which ended up tasting like an Old Fashioned. When my meal came out, it was about 6-8 shrimp and a lot of corn and asparagus. Very tasty but at the same time, VERY gritty and soup-like. I've had shrimp & grits many times before with a thicker consistency but never had to actually pick out grit from my teeth after (in the ladies room of course) Some of the ladies at the table ordered the blackened shrimp salad and the others ordered the salmon. Everyone enjoyed their meals and drinks. After 1030pm, the millennials start to come in, crowd the bar area, chairs & tables are taken away so it becomes a club at that point, it was then time to go lol. I will definitely come back in the evening hours because I do want to try the blackened shrimp salad and the pizza looked great! Best of all was the music, ample seating and great service!

What a jumping hot spot on U street!! Stopped in on a Sunday after leaving on non jumping brunch spot close by we were advised to drop by for some music. Initially walking in I didn't know what to expect. Really cute place with nice funky decor with nice staff. Once we reached the top of the stairs things turned into a full blown day party with a loud DJ, flashing lights, smoke machines, people dancing everywhere, the place was packed at 4pm! Not sure if this is a thing each & every Sunday after brunch and didn't even stay long but it was definitely a great place to have good time & good music. I am excited to go back and check out the menu.

The purple neon lighting creates this sultry, intimate atmosphere without being overwhelming. It's the kind of place where you can actually connect, laugh, and still feel like you're outside living. The music was a vibe. Smooth R&B blended with some Jamaican flavor and nostalgic cuts that made the room feel alive. It wasn't chaotic; it was curated. The sound set the tone without overpowering the experience. What stood out most was how comfortable the space felt. Beautiful crowd, welcoming energy, and that perfect balance between lounge and nightlife. It's not just somewhere you go to be seen; it's somewhere you go to feel good. Perfect first stop for my DC weekend. I'd absolutely return.
