Warning if your AFFRAID OF drowning, this shouldn't be your choice! Water enters the cover where the trolling motor goes, foot pedal which needs adjustments to the locks, all the time. They also break frequently. So be prepared to order some in advance. 5.00 each. And they take up to 6 weeks to get because they come from China of course. Just like the kayak does!! The weight carrying abilities are false. Im very serious about almost capsized several times. My wife and kids begs me not to use it. If a boat goes by you be prepared to have a kayak bilge before any trips. It takes on massive water from the sides and cover. Water even gets through the scub holes. I wish they'd send me a new cover, and foot pedals. The 36 thrust trolling motor is a joke. I been replaced that. Until i have the money to purchase another kayak, and it wont be a Brooklyn Kayak. Customer service is a joke!!! Ordered a tandem kayak for my son Got a shipping date but the kayak arrived two weeks early. Great right. No we were out of town No one was home. We let the shipping company know and they agreed to reschedule delivery but to our surprise they said they delivered our kayak and they even had a signature. No one was home!!!! Brooklyn refused to look into it because they had a signature and a picture of the outside of our house so the kayak was delivered!! Now I'm out $2,000 no kayak and no one wants to take responsibility. What a joke!!! In response to Brooklyn Kayak the picture you have is the outside of my house and that is not my signature!!! We were in Philadelphia at my son's wedding. I have receipts and pictures. I have correspondence with shipping company letting them know not to deliver and they responded ok. How did they deliver?? My wife & I agreed to purchase 2 kayaks for our birthday presents to one another so we could spend more time together. We took our vacation funds to do so. My wife wanted the flipper drive kayak since she had a shoulder surgery that limits her ability to paddle. We ordered the tandem motorized kayak for my self since am a disabled veteran. We ordered them and paid $2,766 on 8/16/2024. We recieded the kayaks and aren't able to use them without the trolling motor and the other one didn't come with a paddle. We have called & left over 50 vms & emails with no response. Issac the owner knew we were missing the paddle & trolling motor. he said that the motor was on back order & would be shipped in 2 weeks. He did tell us that he would personally ship out the paddle that same day. We have yet to receive our items. We filed a complaint with the BBB and fraud department with our bank. They are both currently under investigation. Issac did reply to the BBB stating that he has tried to reach out to us and would be working with us to get us our items. This is totally untrue! He had evaded us and possibly blocked our number. Our calls go right to his V and never get returned. I looked at other BBB and Google reviews and see that his rating is a 1 star rating and there are several others who are having or had similar experiences. Awesome company, awesome kayak. Cannot say enough good things about my experience with Brooklyn kayak company and my tk22 tandem fishing kayak. I have had it for over a year and it's great. The shipping process was seamless and organized. In fact 3 times I had to change the delivery and there was no issue. My heavy friend used the seat to help him get out and a strap broke. No problem. BKC replaced, no questions asked. BKC os a great company to do business with. Their customer service is attentive and responsive. In fact, a lot of times when you interact with customer service, you are interacting with the actual owner. You won't be disappointed in your kayak purchased with Brooklyn kayak company. Given the reviews I'm not anticipating a good outcome once I get a chance to actually use the kayak I purchased and paid for over a month ago, but BUYER BEWARE. I spent over $2K purchasing a tandem kayak and contacted customer service when I realized all of the parts I needed to assemble the kayak weren't included in the delivery. It took over a week to get customer service to respond to me and the another week+ to receive the parts which were supposed to be included in the first place, EXCEPT they didn't actually include all the parts I told them were missing as well as the photos I included to show exactly what was missing. I notified customer service a week ago that the makeup delivery was not complete and I got a message from customer service today asking me to confirm the screws were once again NOT INCLUDED!!! Mercy this is ridiculous. How many times and ways and weeks do I have to wait before they can get me the essential components of their product. It's ridiculous that the only person you can talk too is the receptionist who is quick to tell you she can't do anything but pass along a message. We bought at the height of the supply chain crisis. The customer service rep kept telling us our delivery was just around the corner - for weeks. They should have been honest with us. When we got the kayaks, the seat on one was trash. The fabric was completely rotted. How did that pass QA\QC? The kayaks are very good but I can't recommend this company based on customer service and apparent lack of attention to detail on the product they ship to customers. read more

Kayaks are great for the price, even at a higher price. The parts dept is very lacking. I had some damaged clips and a bolt with bad threads on a new purchase. I didn't even ask for the items for free. I just asked to order them. The tech support person told me it wasn't a bolt, it's an oring or some other nonsense. I paid and they sent them. I'm a mechanical contractor with various professional licenses. it's certainly a bolt (or more correct a hex head capscrew) and not an o ring but I didn't feel like arguing with someone who doesn't have a clue. So i got the parts, that one was wrong. Resent another picture 24 hours ago and awaiting a response. If they would hire a go getter to manage the support and parts side, and tweak the design on their retainer clips and some other minor things, they'd be unstoppable. Mainly just offering feedback from one business owner to another so maybe they'll see how they can improve. Seems like 99% of their bad reviews are parts and support. That's such an easy fix. For instance, the seat bar was cut too short so it can fall out of the plastic channel on the yak if it moves all the way to one side. Such an easy fix. Have the factory leave 1/2" more metal. Now i've got to go buy a solid bar and insert in through the pipe to lengthen it. read more

COMPLETELY UNSAFE KAYAKS BUYERS BEWARE I purchased a PK 12 last year. The kayak takes on water from underneath the cup holder/pedal drive tray which I came to find out is a huge safety issue when using a trolling motor. I purchased the TM-316 trolling motor mount that is advertised to fit on all BKC model kayaks. However, with the cupholder tray defect and the momentum of the trolling motor the kayak quickly flooded with water. I almost sank and had to call the local harbor patrol to assist me. I am an experienced kayaker, fisherman and boater and i can wholeheartedly tell you that these kayaks have a major design flaw that makes them extremely unsafe with a high risk of sinking. Moreover, there are multiple reviews and complaints about the water entering the kayak from the cupholder tray area and they are clearly not addressing the issues. After contacting BKC about the issues they assure me they would look into it and make things right. The have since completely ignored me when attempting to follow up on this issue, continue to deny that there is a safety issue with the design of these . I have since filed complaints with the BBB and US Coast Guard. They do not care about customer service or making these major issues right. STAY AWAY FROM BKC. read more

HONEST REVIEW I wanted to give Brooklyn Kayak a 5 stars, I really did. But when I looked at my whole experience from start to finish, I was a little upset at the end. I ordered a single pro kayak on 6/2. When I ordered it, the website said the color I ordered is on backorder and will be available 5/31 (two days before I ordered). So I thought that it may be in stock and they haven't updated the page yet. Or I didn't mind waiting a week or so until it's back in stock. After about a week of waiting with no update, I noticed the backorder estimation changed to 6/5 but I still passed this date. So I emailed customer support. They answered within 48 hours and said the updated date only applies to new kayaks and that I was going to be among the next few people to get this color. After the estimated 14 business days of waiting, I messaged support again and they assured me I was moved to the top of the list. A week later and still no update. Following that, the support rep I was speaking to just stopped answering. For 9 days I heard nothing. I asked to upgrade to the next model up kayak but still had no answer. I feared this new model would become out of stock so I ordered it and asked for a refund on my first kayak. I messaged customer support again and a new rep told me they will cancel my old order and refund me. And give me a 100 gift card for my trouble. A couple days after ordering the more expensive upgraded model, it shipped. I was very happy but confused as to why the first one took so long. My kayak just got here on 7/8 and it is great. Great quality. I haven't used it yet but am excited too. It definitely is worth the money. I gave the 3 star review because of customer support. The phone lines aren't used whatsoever. You can't call and speak to anyone, they only operate on a ticket based email system which a lot of companies are switching to. It ruins the customer experience and makes customers angry. I understand there are backorder issues. But please communicate that with the customer. I understand that it is not realistic to answer every day but 9 days of waiting for a response is completely unacceptable. The hundred dollar credit is nice but it would be more effective to be honest with your customers. I firmly believe if you had someone answering phones, your overall yelp score wouldn't be 2 stars. Again, bravo on the kayak. It's beautiful. But you need to improve your customer relations. read more

My husband did a lot of research to find the best kayak for salmon fishing. He was excited to order just the right kayak from Brooklyn kayak company. His concern was the bad reviews about shipping. But they promised the kayak would be delivered between September 16 and 24. We took a leap of faith, made payment in full and waited for delivery. Well the kayak has not been delivered. They are not returning any of our calls. Their emails have not been responsive. And we will not have the kayak in time for the fishing trip, if we ever get it at all. Such a major disappointment. Look up their Better Business Bureau rating and you'll find out what kind of company this is. I now have a boat that's utterly useless to me. First issue was the shipping. The shipping company is horrible and I had to drive 3 hours one way to pick it up from their warehouse so I didn't have to chance waiting several more weeks. When I picked it up the seats were missing. It is impossible to get anyone at Brooklyn Kayak's customer service on the phone and they definitely won't respond to your emails other than auto reply. I got lucky and the owner's phone number was on the bill of lading. Not as the shipper but as the "bill to" contact. I got him on the phone and by the end of the day he sent the seats through UPS which was awesome for him to do. I offered to pay for the expedited shipping but he said no, that he covered it. MAIN ISSUE: When I got it home and unwrapped it was missing the serial number. Some have a sticker somewhere have a plate, this one has nothing. I texted the owner and told him I received the tracking number for the seats, thanked him, and told him of the new issue. He asked for pictures of the boat which I sent. He then told me that yes it was missing and that customer service would take care of it and if not to let him know. I sent several emails and placed countless phone calls to customer service. Finally they called me back after trying to reach them for two days. The person I spoke to said they would issue a serial number for it, mail me the certificate of origin, and email me a copy by the end of the day. Didn't happen. I've called customer service repeatedly with no answer. I've called and texted the owner with no response. All I need is an emailed copy of the certificate of origin with a serial number and I can get it registered. Problem solved. Without it, it's useless. I bought the boat, motor, and motor mount all at the same time. They know that I have to have that paperwork to get it registered. If you read their BBB complaints and reviews outside of Amazon you'll see that the issues I've had are common. I thought I could trust Amazon to better vet their third party vendors. read more

Paid for a kayak 35 days ago. It currently is sitting, collecting dust, in a trucking consolidation center in Jersey. BKC customer service is the absolute worst. All they have to say is here is your shipping info. Which just says it's sitting in a center. I am already over it, and have no excitement to even recieve it now. I already bought a good kayak out of florida and it showed up in 2 weeks. I know they're cheap kayaks, but damn. We purchased the BKC PK11 Angler 10.5-foot Sit On Top Solo Fishing Kayak w/ Instant Reverse Pedal Drive on 2/1/22 (BKC246812). On 2/16 we were notified that the 10.5 ft Kayak was out of stock and they provided the option to upgrade to the 13 ft at no additional charge to which we agreed. After a month (3/15) of no updates to delivery we contacted BKC to which a gentleman named "Walter" indicated that he also noticed a delay and would make contact with management. Several weeks went by with the item not being moved at all. It was finally delivered on 3/16 to which it arrived with very loose cables that attach to the rudder wheel, rendering the steering completely useless. The product also came without any instructions for installation so now we are stuck with a broken kayak that defeats the entire purpose of purchasing the pedal drive. We have sent countless emails, one on 3/31 with photos showing the damaged item and to this day we have not received any correspondence from BKC. We sent an additional email following up on 4/11 asking for at least instructions to try to fix it ourselves but have been constantly ignored. If you call them, they don't answer, instead they insist that you send an email (which they will not respond to) I would warn anyone considering a purchase from BKC to use caution. They do not communicate effectively at all and it appears that the infrastructure of their business says they do not want to be contacted and do what they can to prevent this. As a business owner myself, I would never ignore my customers issues. It's just not a good way to stay in business. read more

I ordered this (July 30th. 2021) and was giving a delivery date of August 23rd), when that date came and went I reached out only to be told that it hadn't shipped because they were unable to ship to my zip code and asked if I had family or friends I could have it shipped to instead. They should have reached out once I placed the order and not waited over a month and after the initial delivery date to tell me they couldn't ship this to me. We bought two kayaks as presents for our daughter and her husband in November of 2021 as Christmas gifts, trusting the claims on the website of quick free delivery. The first one for our daughter came within two weeks. The second for our son-in-law came from the opposite coast using AM trucking, who is featured in complaints here repeatedly. His kayak took over a month to get delivered, arriving Christmas. My daughter and her husband finally got around to using the kayaks this weekend. My daughter's was fine but her husband's kayak quickly filled with water. Of course, since Brooklyn Kayak isn't open on weekends, and since they showed no concern about the late delivery I don't expect any satisfaction or a refund for the over $1,000 wasted on their piece of junk. Do not buy anything from this company. Their non-existant customer service and poor product quality is the only thing you can count on. read more

New Yorkers beware. I purchased a pk 13 with trolling motor in september 2022 it did not come with the original manufacturers certificate of origin. The copy that you can print on their website is not accepted at the Dmv. It is now june 2023 and i still don't have the original Mco and can't register the boat. After multiple attempt to get one, the last communication with Brooklyn kayak they told me their printer ran out of ink! I filed a complaint with the NJ attorney general and the BBB. read more

I am at about 10+ weeks with no kayak and out over a thousand dollars. The email is unhelpful and unresponsive. I am suspicious they are dropshipping cheap kayaks which is why they are unable to get their inventory to ship in a timeline manner. They also always seem to be selling them at steep discounts. For instance, I purchased mine at about a 40% discount from "retail ". In my opinion you should not be offering such steep "discounts" if you are not prepared to fulfill your orders. The seller won't contract with a shipper to send it directly to me instead wants me to drive an hour away to meet the shipper at a Walmart parking lot! WTF!? My husband bought me a pedal/paddle drive fishing kayak from Brooklyn Kayak 6 months ago. It works great but so far I have had 2 parts break (in 6 months). First one of the 3 clips that hold the pedal drive into the boat snapped off after 1 month. I ordered new clips and it took them months to send them to me!! Now the belt inside the pedal drive that makes the kayak go forward or backward broke in half!!! I called them to ask about another belt and they said they are out of stock, maybe I would get one in in a month or so. Also, the belt would cost $70.!!! I did research and found the belt on Amazon for $15. And my husband replaced it for me after watching a YouTube video. BKC TK122 FISHING KAYKA WITH ALUMIUM SEATS. Great kayak, company up front with how long it will take. We are in our 60's and we have no problem using this kayak, handles great in rough water, maneuvers very well, very stable in all types of water. Haven't used it for fishing yet just local lake rowing around for exercise. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWESOME!!! RESPONDED SAME DAY AND HANDLE MY 2 ISSSUES WITH NO PROBLEMS. 1st issue was 1 chair was missing the rubber plug for end of leg they sent out a bag of them. 2nd was the floor storage plastic ring had some small cracks informed them I could send pics said not needed and sent out 2 complete replacement storage compartments. When we priced around we didn't want to spend $2000 or $3000 for a beginner kayak. The price we paid was Awesome just over $1000. And yes made in china bkc owns the molds. We Would highly recommend this company and the TC122 kayak. read more

Let's start by saying I fell for the reviews on the page, I will leave an honest review of my experience. My order was placed in early May, when I placed the order there was a advisory saying an additional 7-21 days to process due to COVID and if it was expected to take longer than 14 days someone would reach out to me... no big deal I thought, I can wait a little longer for a kayak of this quality. Fast forward 3 full weeks later and I've heard nothing, I reach out and was told there's a delay up to 30 days for the particular kayak I ordered as it was the most popular one. Okay, that'll still arrive before my trip in mid July, no worries. This continues back and forth with Isaac from BKC as my trip grows closer I continue reaching out and am told "sorry for the delays and thank you for being patient we are trying to get your order pushed through" I informed them of my upcoming trip and received "you're order will arrive in time" fast forward the week before my trip (mind you it's been 2 months since the order was placed) still no kayak, I reach out again and was told the shipping company was behind on deliveries, was again assured it would arrive in time. The week of my trip arrives and no kayak and no delivery date set. This trip I had planned for months was now ruined and I couldn't get a refund. I reached out requesting my order be cancelled and I wanted a full refund, never heard another word from the company. I was finally contacted by the delivery company on Friday July 24th for delivery. Upon delivery the seat was broken but since a 3rd party company is used for shipping nothing could be done and I had to contact BKC. I snap some pics of the seat and the broken part and return to my never ending email chain with Isaac. I got my response this morning and was told they do not have the part and the seat will be fine without it. Over 1k and I'm expected to settle for a broken seat after my order took months to arrive. The only reason I have 2 stars is because the kayak does seem to be made well and is set up perfectly for a fishing yak. But the company and customer service are the worst I have ever experienced! Please please do not fall for the reviews on their website as they are filtered. Heck google and hopefully yelp to see the real reviews on this company. I do not recommend. read more

Brand new $1000+ Kayak arrives - barely. The shipping company they use delivers one day a week, and you get less than 24 hours notice on the day before. They tell me delivery between 2pm and 7pm. Then the day of, at around 3pm, they notify me between 5pm and 9pm. Sure, I have nothing better to do than sit around all day. A phone call to the shipping company and they basically told me TFL. Next, no support docs included, nada. I found some videos online, yay! The rudder system on this kayak to put it bluntly really, really, really sucks. But who knows, maybe I just installed it incorrectly. Remember, no docs! So I call, get bounced to voice-mail where I am told they will get back to me in a couple days. Live and learn I guess. I will give them 2 stars because the hull seems nice enough, but the hardware and service are piss poor. Thanks for nothing BKC. Although my purchase was met with glowing excitement and flowery email confirmation, I did not experience what I had hoped would be a different outcome then so many people with Brooklyn Kayak company (BKC). I ordered my kayak the tandem 14 foot pedal drive on June 23, 2020. As noted elsewhere by other customers, I was advised of COVID delays in shipping and back order status right from the start. None of this surprises me considering that even Amazon with its two day prime shipping can't get it done. As time went on I eventually got a delivery estimate from AM trucking. That estimate indicated the kayak was coming from California and that it was 4 to 6 weeks from being delivered. The AM trucking delivery estimate 8/17-8/24 came and went. I then received notification that 8/27 the kayak would be delivered. Fortunately I would be home for that delivery. During the day I heard the sound of a truck and access door being closed. I went to the front porch to find the two delivery guys heading for the truck which was running and the kayak lying in the grass. I stopped the guys with the intent to ask them to help me move it, But I then noticed of the three pieces that were supposed to be delivered, only the Kayak was there. The pedal assemblies made up the other two items which were supposed to be delivered with the kayak. I ask the delivery people where the other two pieces were and they said in their best English that this was all they had. I said no, that there was supposed to be three pieces according to the email invoice. They then said something in Spanish and headed for the back of the truck, opened it, rooted around and came out and told me there was nothing more. I asked them for the delivery invoice so that I could notate the missing pieces and they said no paperwork only electronic. I did ask to speak with their shipping manager but they refused. I demanded they get in touch with someone to explain why there is only one parcel. Then one of them waved his arm, then with the other one and then up into the air and said something in Spanish. It was at that time that they picked up the kayak and headed for the truck. I told them I was calling the police which I did after they mocked me and said "go ahead". They were able to get the kayak by me and onto the truck tailgate. Then one of the individuals dropped the kayak rudder end onto the pavement. They continued to load the kayak back into the truck. I realized that they were going to get in the truck and leave with the kayak that they had just stolen after delivery. I went to the front of the truck and was going to sit in the truck but then decided because I was on the phone with the 911 dispatcher to take the keys to the truck so they couldn't leave before the police got a report. I can see now why people are so upset with the shipping company and cannot believe that BKC continues to use them. Too many people have commented about bad experiences and it looks like mine might be one of the most interesting. It appeared that the Kayak was in good condition but I only got to view it through plastic. I do not know where the other pieces were and they (AM trucking) took the kayak. I had no idea of knowing any potential damage they might've created when they dropped it. Bottom line is I should've had the police charge them with theft. The long and short of the story is that BKC, specifically Isaac, refunded all of my money except for a $200 charge for shipping. The invoice clearly says shipping is free and this is one of their claims for potential customers. It doesn't appear in my case that they are going to provide a full refund. It appears BKC is trying to claim that I exercised the 14 day return policy. I did not have any say in the matter whatsoever since the delivery people removed the kayak from my possession. In hindsight I have reviewed my camera footage and realize that the delivery people were looking for missing pieces before they headed for the truck to leave when I first came out. It is quite clear that they opened up the back of the truck after they had shut it the first time went in and one of them was lifting up the plastic on the kayak as if to look for something. I'm positive that they realized there were more pieces missing and we're trying to just leave without anyone catching them. While on the phone with Nick at BKC immediately following this horrid delivery gone bad, he surmised and I agree, that they were in-fact trying to leave without getting confronted about the missing pieces. I would advise caution if you were dealing with BKC and they intend to use AM trucking company. Expect the worst, because that is probably very true for more than not. Unfortunately I did not do my due diligence before making the purchase, I waited until it seemed a bit odd to be taking so long for delivery. read more
