I loved my time living in the Forge building at Brookland Press. The ladies in the Leasing Office provided the best customer service I have experienced in multifamily leasing industry! The new concierge staff was extremely helpful and the maintenance staff is very prompt. I am already missing the staff of Brookland Press and wish they were at my new apartment complex! The apartment spaces of Brookland Press are well designed and the unit finishes are high quality. The staff has done a phenomenal job at keeping the building and amenity spaces clean, safe, and open, when appropriate, during this pandemic. read more

The security guards are incompetent, lazy and useless, especially the night gaurd Christopher. Bikes get stolen and the place is littered with dog feces and urine. Incredibly rude staff. Difficult to schedule a tour. If you hate your job so much - get a new one where you're not providing customer service. They lack common courtesy/politeness over the phone. The concierge was particularly sassy, then when I spoke to the leasing office and asked for a manager - speaking to a woman "Ebony" was even worse. A joke of an apartment building in DC. I visited my cousin here a few weeks back. There is virtually no guest parking other than a few spaces that require you to get approval from the non-existant security guard up at the front desk. I parked in a "ParkMobile" space that said public parking was permitted from 7pm-7am. Spoke with security guard before making my way up to my cousin's place and made sure I was in an OK spot. The black woman said no issue. I was ticketed $250 for a "private property" violation about 45 minutes after speaking with the security guard. I went back in to speak with security guard and apparently that stops at 10pm every day. What's the point of having a security guard until 10pm? Isn't that when all the BS happens? Sent an email to Robert Hickhox (apparently the GM). Got no reply. Followed up at least 5+ times. Obvious this guy is checked out and doesn't care. Can't blame him. Needless to say, we're appealing this bogus ticket. Guests and renters beware of the lack of guest parking. No, I am not walking down a dark unsafe alley to park my car. read more

Machelle is absolutely the most rude and disrespectful person at Brookland Press. Just saying "Good Morning or Hello" could never cross her lips. Each and every time I need something she stares before answering and get the things done in her own time. I constantly wait at the desk, she's always away and while she comes back, there's no smile or greeting as I've stated before. Everyone else that works the front desk really goes above and beyond for this company. Michelle most definitely needs training on customer service and hospitality. Beautiful property that's conveniently located to meet all my needs, but the cons of living here certainly outweigh the pros. The overarching issue with how this property is managed is the lack of communication. Anytime there's a change or routine work being done, we as residents know nothing about it - NOTHING. When I first moved in last July, I had a leak in my bedroom, but the staff at the time immediately resolved the issue. Fast forward to May/June 2022, I now have 3 leaks (2 in my bedroom and 1 in my kitchen). I submitted a maintenance request, contacted the "emergency line", and I was reassured that the issue would be resolved by the end of the day. When I returned home a little after midnight on 6/4/22...there was STILL a leak. To add insult to injury, there was no follow up from the leasing office nor the maintenance staff. I took it upon myself to pop into the office on Sunday 6/5/22, and all that I was left with was my information being taken down by leasing agent on duty. When I went into the office on Monday, 6/6/22, the community manager acted as though he knew NOTHING of my issue (even though I sent an email on 5/14/22 asking when the drywall would be repaired from the leak I had earlier on 5/11/22). On top of that, after I expressed to him that I hadn't and will not pay my rent until the issue is resolved, I came home to notice on my door citing that I'm behind on rent. I'm happy to extend grace when grace is due, but I say all this to say that if you're considering moving into this property...DON'T. Communication is essential to how any business operates so I'm not sure what the disconnect is with this community, but I'll never stay in another Kettler managed property ever again. read more

Since I've moved here in September 2017 I've had so many bad experiences and have seen all of the staff turnover. In addition, I and other residents continue to experience these issues on a daily basis. Specifically, below is a list of the issues I've personally encountered in my stay here: - Upon move in, the refrigerator wasn't connected to the water line, and the ice maker was still wrapped in plastic. - The washing machine wasn't connected to the water line. - The dishwasher has been repaired for a loud audible noise from opening the door. - Utility doors were improperly installed and had to be addressed twice. - Floor boards needed to be re-adhered to the floor as they had come up. - Ventilation blows out constantly and extremely loudly, similar to a white noise machine. I was advised this is separate from the heating/cooling system and as such nothing could be done about it. -In certain summer months dead insect parts came pouring through these vents. Management's solution was first to put a black plastic bag over it, and subsequently to stuff the plastic bag within the vent. - Wiring for ceiling fans appears faulty as the fan/lighting goes on and off at will. - The dog park washes on to the side-walk upon every rain and the area is thoroughly waterlogged and flooded. - Floor tiles in the gym curled and peeled up and were only finally repaired about 11 months since the gym was available to residents. - It was never explained that parking would be a valet system upon move-in and the garage is constantly full after 6 pm and early mornings on work days/nights. At this point it is a daily occurrence to have to wait on valet to move cars for about 8-10 minutes to either park or leave the apartment building. - The guest/public restrooms have frequently been out of service for leaks/flooding. -Walls and floors are extremely thin and poorly insulated. It is a normal occurrence to hear other residents both above, adjacent and in hallways near you at all hours of the night. - Elevators frequently have a terrible smell and the floor tiles are filthy. When these tiles are cleaned it exacerbates the smell even worse until the floors are dry. - The building has been under leak and facade repairs since it was opened to the public. -Frequently residents aren't given any notice regarding building wide construction/repairs. - I've been surprised to find construction crews literally moving my furniture and entering my patio without permission or notice. - I've been surprised to find construction crew cutting decor lighting from my patio without permission or notice. - On one of the hottest days in the summer I was informed my electricity would be cut off during working hours (I work from home). Of course I received this notice 5 minutes before it happened. - During the summer months, a unit in the neighboring building had a fire in which the fire department smashed out a window to the unit. That glass sat openly on the side walk for two weeks before it was swept away. To this day, you can see glass pieces in the landscaping beneath that window. In summary, I would suggest you DON'T come within 10 feet of this property! I'm counting the days till my lease is over! Stay away from Kettler Management & Douglas Development and stay away from Brookland Press Apartments. read more

Come visit after a rainy day if you are considering renting here. Water infiltrations for numerous residents have occurred non-stop since I moved here in late-February. Other tenants have other concerns, while a few others seem to have no issues. Response from management has been less than ideal, as they only address the aesthetic issues promptly -if at all- while disregarding serious ones. Management claims that the leaks have been repaired, but serious issues like this are usually addressed by patching up with spackle and paint. A black mold outbreak already occurred in an apartment unit at the Foundry. It is now September and water infiltrations still occur. It is likely that some water infiltrations are not visible because they are contained within the walls, which could result in another mold outbreak. The amenities are okay overall. The gym is nice. But the water fountain at the dog run is not installed correctly so it leaks constantly, rendering it as unusable. If you are reading this, issues are ongoing. I will edit my review if/when I consider my issues have been solved. read more

I lived at Brookland Press for 16 months and when we first moved in pre-covid it was great. Then, went downhill fast. There was no package receiving service (still isn't), there is no maintenance... our barn door was falling off its hinges out of the wall the majority of our time there. New staff came and went every month. There were no amenities available and now the property has tried to charge people for having friends over as part of the amenities. Imagine your landlord requesting $1000 to use your front lawn of your home.. absurd. It is now 6 months after move out and I am still in a battle with management to try and receive our security deposit back that they are refusing to return from their own paper negligence. I would not recommend anyone to live in this apartment or any Kettler managed property for the matter. read more

Work orders go untouched and their answer to everything is " I'm new"or "I just got here". I have been dealing with Brookland press for 5 weeks now. The first two weeks I just wanted a tour. I submitted a request on their website a few times. I would get an automated email saying someone would be in touch. after a week I started calling to set an appointment up but couldn't get in touch. FInally i got an email saying they are doing virtual appointments only, and that someone would be in touch. I never heard back from them. Because the process was taking much longer than I expected I was running out of time before my previous lease was up, and simply applied for a unit online. The online application is glitchy and you cannot fill it out the way it instructs. I got stuck and couldn't fully submit my application, of course, after I paid $700. From 7/28 through 8/4 I called up to 8 times each day to 3 different numbers. Twice the "concierge" (202)935-7912 took a message saying someone would call back (I'm sure you can guess that no one called me back). Twice the leasing office picked up. Once to tell me they would call me back, I set up a time with the person to I would be available. (You think they called back?). Second time on 8/5am after ringing 5x in a row Angela (202)393-9316 picked up. She was very nice and helpful, then she realized she wasn't talking to the person she thought. She did help me finish submitting the application admitting how impossible it is to actual complete it from my end. I confirmed that $600 of the deposit was refundable if declined. If you were accepted, but you want to decline you need to notify them within 48 hrs... I mentioned the multiple weeks it has taken to get in touch asking how that 48 hrs works....silence. Starting to sound like a scam, right? Because I couldn't rely on them I applied elsewhere and was accepted 8/5pm (Judd and Weiler). The last 7 days I've been trying to reach them about this refund. Even the very nice Angela started to ignore me. Same old story. Going on 53 minutes of being on hold with the concierge (which is why I'm writing this). My next step is to show up. Should I call the cops when I get there? Do you think I'll ever see that money. Perhaps making this public will help? Timeline: -8/1- made 700$ payment. -8/8- cancelled my application -8/18- Angela told be I would see the check by 9/7. -9/7- No check, asked what her next course of action would be to get this resolved. - was ignored. -9/8 - continued to ignore my texts, but picked up her phone on the 4th call. She now says her system says I didn't make the payment. She said most people have to get their money back by cancelling payment through my bank. I have a receipt. While I love Brookland Press' property, amenities, and the staff are nice... there are some huge issues. For starters, the fire alarm went off this morning at 5am. A pipe burst in the building of the A building and flooded the basement (where there are apt units). It is now 7:30am and the alarm is still blaring, with several residents displaced from the building and no communication from building staff whatsoever. Is this a safety hazard? It's surely a nuisance for the alarm to be going off for this long. We've tried to call all the BP phone numbers, including the emergency maintenance line with no response. Additionally, the trash compactor has been broken in the A building for MONTHS. The whole building smells terribly, and on each floor the trash rooms are piling up with garbage. While friendly, apartment staff are very uncommunicative. I've been trying to email them for over a month now about an issue with no response. The only way to get help from them is to go just show up randomly at their office, which shouldn't have to take place. Renter beware, especially the A building! read more

I've lived in BP for a little over a year and I have LOVED it. I am leaving only because life is taking me out of DC. One of my favorite aspects of living here has been Machelle at the front desk. I think the nasty comments about her in some of these reviews are absolutely false and racist and slanderous. Machelle has been nothing but sweet to me, and she has always had my packages ready. I've become close with a few people in the building and none of us have ever experienced this claim that she lies about things in order to not have to do them? I think she has an incredibly difficult job keeping several hundred privileged residents comfortable and happy, and she handles that role with grace. She knows me by name, she knows about my work and how I am moving in order to go back to school. She always says hi when I arrive or leave the building, calling me sweetie as she takes care of things, and warming my day. In fact the first day I met her it was because there was some sort of free food happening in the lobby as I left to go for a run and I mentioned that I would grab some when I returned. When I returned the food had all been packed up, but Machelle had made me a plate and saved it for me! I just literally cannot express how baffled I am that anyone would have such a problem with her. Overall, the buildings amenities are super nice, and I never found the walls to be too thin. I lived on the Forge side overlooking the courtyard, and I loved feeling like I had this quiet slice of greenery in the middle of the city. As the pandemic began, I started doing a balcony happy hour with a few people who I became close with, and that was really cool, but you could definitely keep to yourself if you wanted to. I will miss this place dearly, as it truly was a haven during a stressful year. read more

This review is more towards Stacey than the property itself. If you get a chance to visit and are looking, do ask for Stacey Carroll and she will be very hospitable. I, myself, have lived here for close to two years now and when I really need to be heard or need something done, I go to her specifically. She is awesome and has shown that she actually cares over and over again. As for the property, it has been a great fit for me and my situation. Being a block away from the Metro, CVS, Giant, and plenty of places to eat has been a bonus. I strongly suggest you save your money and get rid of your car note or sell the one you have, as the city does not give zone stickers to license holders at this address. This makes parking a challenge. I've also enjoyed many areas of the complex, as it has been very friendly and conducive to hosting my toddler; The complex being off the beaten path but still very much planted in the middle of a busy DC is a very rare find. read more

My boyfriend talked so much about his tour with Stacey so as soon as the weekend came I was able to experience what he was talking about all week. First of all, Stacey is wonderful!! She is so personable. When she was on a tour we also got a chance to interact with Brandon. He is also a really happy, helpful and positive person. I cannot tell you how amazing the tour was. The amenities are amazing. The pool, the common spaces, the roof top!! Wow! We actually toured and had other properties to see but we went back and filled out the application that very same day. Esther at the front desk is a true GEM. She literally knows everyones name and apartment number without them having to tell her. When she sees you walking up to the desk she goes to get your package without you even having to say anything! She has the BEST memory. Beware!!! Please do not rent from this apartment if you expect to have timely responses to your concerns; acknowledged by the management, or your deposit returned. Called numerous times, left numerous messages, finally spoke to a manager who flat out lies about the status of returning my deposit. Just submitted notice to small claims to sue for the return of my deposit. In all my years of renting, I've never had to sue for the return of my deposit. Always leave my space in move in condition. I just wanted to thank everyone who helped me to move here(B411). The place is more than what I was expecting. 1) My application process took a couple of weeks because they changed the management here. But after that everything was quick. Nazir Hausawa, Angela Norman, Lawson Hamilton, and Esquel were really helpful and they helped me a lot during the process. 2) Concierges are really nice, kind, and respectful to everyone. There is a concierge till 11 pm and they have a security person till 1 am. Especially, I will thank a lot to Esquel who works at the front desk. All of the Concierge/Front Desk people are really nice people. 3). NAZIR HAUSAWA is the one who helped me to get this apartment (B411). Probably the main reason. They changed the management and their system was down for a couple of weeks till they switched to new management but NAZIR helped me a lot with everything. I was late for the loading dock, a couple of my apartment issues, with leasing agreement documents, and other stuff. He is the one who showed me my apartment and made me decide to pick my apartment easily. Literally, he helped me with everything. Made everything to be done easily, responded to emails in seconds and whenever I need something from the leasing office, he was always willing to help!! Thanks a lot!! 4) Angela Norman and Lawson Hamilton both were very kind, respectful, and helpful a lot during the process. 5) Amenities are great. The location is close to Metro, Universities, and Grocery Stores. 6) People who live here seem very nice. Mostly professionals and college students. Well, it saddens me to write this review, but it is the only written response I have seen happen so quickly at Brookland Press. I have emailed the property manager (Patrick) weekly over the last 6 weeks. The email he responded to was one where it was stated that my issues would be made public. There has been no response to subsequent emails. He has time to respond to reviews, so here's my hope that a solution will occur. I moved here in June, 2018 and I have experienced so many issues. Those who have not experienced beyond regular maintenance issues or moved in after the leaks (aka floods) are lucky. And those who bash negative reviews based on true and frustrating experiences are unfortunate. 1. My toilet was leaking. Maintenance tightened a valve and I kindly placed another request and said it is leaking from the side. There was a crack in my brand new toilet that the contractors tried to patch (this speaks to the quality). It was replaced and the separate contractor team that replaced it broke my toilet paper holder nearly off the wall. Of course, it was not fixed because the contractors escaped without a word. So yep, you guessed it - another maintenance request had to be placed. 2. My hot water did not work for at least 3 days before my maintenance request was responded to (twice). I had to literally tell someone at the concierge desk (Stacey) before there was any attention. 3. There was a leak in my apartment last year and it was multiple weeks before anyone responded to my request. It was only after speaking to someone in person (you guessed it, Stacey) that it was fixed. It still has not been painted, so there is a stain on my ceiling. It is helpful, I guess, since I can see if the leak worsens. ‍‍ 4. My dishwasher did not work upon move in. Months rolled by...I finally emailed Brandon (leasing agent extraordinaire - seriously, he's great!) and told him I knew they were dealing with floods and trying to build Noah's ark to rescue tenants, but I was hoping it was fixed. It was fixed quickly after that. 5. The worst issue has been my heating and air conditioning. In June, I placed maintenance requests/sent emails. I was told I should not open the preinstalled window coverings. The second bedroom has no windows and was the hottest , so obviously that did not work. It was more disappointing to not be able to use the view that prompted me to pick this particular apartment. I was told to self install more curtains over floor to ceiling windows (not cheap, not easy), which I did without any relief. Maintenance changed my air filter and checked the temperature of the air coming from the vents. My unit kept running and my apartment kept getting up to 80°. Then, an a/c contractor came out, noted my unit was flooding and fixed that, but it still did not help. Many contractors came: Divert air? - nope, didn't work. Increase velocity? Nope, didn't work? Instruct me to keep my window coverings closed? Been there, done that. Then winter came to save me? Nope! I traded a/c issues for heating issues, which are still ongoing (I have to use space heaters and heated blankets). To add to this, my electric bill is the most I've ever paid in DC/MD - how, why - when my heat barely runs/works? My friend lives in the same complex, in a larger apartment and runs her heat at higher temperatures than mine with a space heater going, and her electric bill is less than mine - something is not right. I don't blame the maintenance team for many of my issues. I actually love them and they work really hard, despite what they are dealt. There are so few of them with so many demands/needs around this property. Y'all, I do not want to write reviews for a response from management. I don't want to have to rush home from work to hope I catch the property manager before the office closes just to speak in person to get anything done (if you work from home or work minimal hours, unlike me, this may be the place for you since they otherwise rarely respond). I wish I had small issues that were easily repaired and I could have peace in my home. I wish the parking wasn't crazy (they just changed this after more than 6 months of complaints from many tenants - they move quickly here). I wish the management team didn't lie or leave fake 5 star reviews on Google (they actually used their real names people). I certainly wish my car did not get damaged because the now gone "valet team" refused to move a car blocking mine. I don't want to receive rent payment letters on my door stating I didn't pay rent because of incorrect billing and receive no response to my email. I don't want to work here anymore (of course I just live here, but it certainly feels like work). However, this place is a hidden gem and the management by people like Brandon, Chloe, Patrick, and Stacy provide residents with energy and a pride in this place that far supercedes many places I have lived in previously. Make sure you VISIT IN PERSON before you move here!! I just moved in to the Foundry building recently and every floor, from the cellar all the way up to the penthouse, smells like rotten trash! There are so many flies all over-- the ones in every hallway are dead, dying, and alive enough to sneak in your door and litter your apartment floor. I moved in sight unseen because never did I think I'd need to SMELL a place before move-in. I don't normally feel strongly enough to write reviews, but in this case I am surprised and disappointed, so I want to be sure to spare you from being disappointed/nauseated . I've been living in Brookland Press for little over a year now and I don't really have many negative things to say. I chose to live on the "Foundry" side because of the lofty vibe I get from my apartment. From the leasing office, I pretty much encounter Brandon the most. He is always so friendly and always asks how my day is going. The same positive energy that I endured when I first walked in and received my tour. We must've looked at about 4 or 5 different units before I finally settled on one and he wasn't frustrated at all. I've only had one maintenance problem so far and that was just a drainage problem in my bathroom sink. The maintenance man, Tim, was on it and came out and fixed the problem. The maintenance team are always roaming around and we always speak to each other and have conversation, even if it's something small as to "How was your weekend?" The concierge team is amazing. Stacey and Elizabeth are two magnificent women who actually keep the property operations running smoothly. I typically only see them when I'm picking up a package because the concierge team only resides over on the "Forge" side. I'll sometimes venture over there to speak to them if I haven't seen them in a while.They are also a great resource tool for new restaurants to try out and recommendations of things to do around the city. Stacey did help my find a great cleaning service that comes in once a month to tidy up my place. The gym is actually pretty decent for an apartment building. Definitely an upgrade from the last tragic place I lived. When I don't feel like leaving my place to go to VIDA I'll work out there. There's not a ton of equipment or space; however, you can get a nice little pump if you know what to do. Can't go wrong with dumbbells, although I wish they went past 50 lbs. The property is in walking distance to the Metro (Rhode Island Ave.), grocery store (CVS and Giant) and a slim choice of restaurants. There's construction going on around the area so I do hope more things are being built (bars and restaurants) that are within walking distance. The cleaning staff is always around cleaning or wiping down something. Tells me that the property takes pride in their appearance. Now here's the reason for the 4 stars versus the 5. I actually would've given the property 3 stars; however, the friendliness of the staff and the fact that I love my apartment layout is what made me give a 4. The Pent House (rooftop) is located at the top of my building, Foundry, and it closes daily at midnight. I think that time should be extended or made 24 hours. As a resident we pay a lot of money to live here and I can't be bothered with tedious time constraints. Having people over and having to clear out right at the stroke of midnight is so annoying and it needs to be fixed. Also, there are only 2 grills up there. Should think about adding in more. The walls on the Foundry side are extremely, and I mean extremely, thin because of cheap construction. Just imagine this. Your cellphone is on loud and you receive a text message. Depending on what wall you share with your neighbor you will hear that "Ding". My neighbor and I knew each other prior to him moving here so it doesn't bother me as much. Just lets me know he's home and now I'm texting to ask if he's cooking. The pool area should be bigger and deeper. It reminds me of kiddy pool that the little kids would be in while the big kids were over in a grown-up pool. read more

I was only contacted after my review even though they knew fr over a month and was told I would be moved and they would take care of the moving expense to no one will talk to me and give me an answer. I don't want to live here after being burglarized and they are trying to make it seem like it didn't happen (maybe you lost your things, misplaced o someone other than a vendor associated with us did that...) No, that is what happened. They don't inform residents when there has been any type of crime (as they legally should) and the poor fools coming to look at an apartment to rent aren't being told (even if they ask) as they should. There are so many other places to live, avoid at all cost. You will sleep better. read more

Found this little gem and fell in love. What I liked most about the property was the amenities. The pool and gym area over the bridge always left my visitors jealous. The rooftop was awesome to relax and enjoy the view. I became really close with the front office and leasing agents as well. Stacey was truly amazing and always took care of my needs. The location is awesome because it was right near the Red line. My son and I lived here for a year and had some great times here. Oh I forgot about the dog park!! We met a lot of friendly neighbors there. Overall this place was really nice. I only moved because I needed to be closer to my job in Chantilly. I wish I could move the building!! read more

Brookland Press.....more like Crook Factory! I'm going to start by saying that's these people are straight crooks. Be very cautious when doing business with these folks. I did an application for one of their apartment and had to put a security deposit down as part of the process. This was back in April when they first opened up. A couple of days later after I applied, I decided to cancel my application since I decided to move forward on a different apartment closer to my job. Since then, I have not yet had my security deposit refunded to me. I contact the APM and have been given the run around for month now. From what I heard I'm not the only one who is having this problem. This is just a fore-warning to anybody who wants to lease from this place. BE CAREFUL! read more

I'm a relatively newer D.C. resident, but I can affirm that the service and hospitality that the BP staff provides, particularly from Brandon, has been above and beyond the norm and status quo of apartments. Brandon has been a joy to work with, has continuously met me with a smile, asking how not only the apartment, but my and my partner's life is going, and always looks to help. I love that. Brookland Press is a hidden gem! I had to consider a few locations in Washington DC for a job relocation and stumbled upon this one. It's walking distance to mass transit that will allow me to commute back and fourth to work. There is also a shopping center and restaurants located directly across from the property, making it easy to get things I need. The property itself, is gorgeous with modern decor and a spacious community room. The apartments have a great layout and will make you feel right at home. I did not have an appointment when I showed up to few the property but Brandon Carr was more than happy to assist me. He took the time to walk me through a living space and all the amenities the property had to offer. Brandon was kind, patient and knowledgeable, as I had tons of questions. If you enjoy listening to everything your neighbors do, Brookland Press may be the place for you. If you do mind loud noises filtering into your apartment, don't waste your time considering Brookland Press. I moved into Brookland Press in February 2020. My fiancee' and I loved how nice the unit looked and all of the amenities. We were excited for this to be our first place together after we got married. But ever since moving into Brookland Press, I have not been able to get any sleep. I have a construction background and I can confidently say the walls were not properly built, thus making the units at Brookland Press uninhabitable. Because of this, I can hear my neighbors' conversation word for word. I can hear my neighbors snore, burp, cough, sneeze, have sex, making breakfast, eat dinner, wash their dishes, and opening and shutting their cupboards. I can also hear my neighbor's fight, babies crying and dogs howling and barking throughout the day and night. As I write this, I'm listening to my neighbor's kid watch Mickey Mouse on Netflix. I feel like I'm in the same room as my neighbors whenever they're home because I can hear everything through the walls. Furthermore, if your bedroom at Brookland Press is next to the hall, good luck EVER getting sleep. You can hear the elevators and people walk down the hallways talking throughout the evening. We have a den next to the hallways, so this is coming from first hand experience. My bedroom shares a wall with my neighbor's bedroom which means it feels like I'm in the same room every time they have sex - it's a violating feeling. Absolutely no privacy. Ever since I moved in, I have documented these sound issues regularly to Brookland Press and they got their attorney involved. Their only solution to the sound issue was to paint the walls. Which did not work. They also offered to buy a white noise machine for us, however, the noise is so constant and clear that a white noise machine does not work. I bought ear plugs that are supposed to decrease sound by 32 decibels and I can still hear my neighbors. After trying to work with the property and giving them solutions to fix the noise problem within the walls to no avail, I now have to move out of Brookland Press. They are making me stay two more months with written notice (during which I have to still pay rent), which is ridiculous because I've already dealt with these major sound issue for two months - with no sleep! This is further problematic because our wedding and honeymoon - as we've told them - is in exactly two months. What are we supposed to do? Move two days before our wedding that is in another state? Do yourself a favor and move to a place where you can get some sleep and a place that has management that is willing to work though issues with you instead of having their lawyer contact you and try to bully you. I'd add that this property is not in a safe area. There have been times when homeless people have laid their hands on me and started screaming at us as we've minded our own business on our way to the metro. These incidents occurred right outside Brookland Press during the day. With all that said, the units are pretty and so are the amenities, but don't let those lure you into a property that has major sound issues that need to be remedied. I've lived in eleven different apartments - old and new - and have never had neighbor noise issues from neighbors like I have had at Brookland Press. Personally, I don't think the neighbors are violating their leases because of their noise. The walls between units at Brookland Press just allow you to hear everything your neighbors are doing and saying. In all my years of renting, this is the first time I've felt led to write a review on an apartment. Currently, I live in apartment A-312 in Brookland Press in their Foundry building which is available in May 2020 after we move out. Please avoid this unit at all costs. Please be warned. I was in DC for a week interviewing for a few positions and I found Brookland Press. I viewed the place with Brandon and he was very professional and yet funny. He saw my ID and he lived in Central Florida and mentioned some funny things he liked and didn't like about Tampa which I agreed. I really enjoyed it because some of the other places I looked at in the area was very rude because I dint have a scheduled appointment. I hope I get a job soon so I can move-in. Initially I saw Brookland Press while checking out another apartment nearby with a friend. The building's exterior looked so lovely and swank that I immediately figured it'd be out of my price range. Surprisingly, after checking it out online, it was right within my price range. Score! I called about 10 times and sent about 5 emails to get in touch with the leasing agent since I was doing my apartment search from out of town. I kept trying because I figured it might be due to Covid (irregular office hours, being remote, etc). On my random visit to DC, I stopped in to see if I could secure an in person tour while I was there for a short visit. The wonderful front desk manager, Michelle, helped connect me immediately with the marketing specialist, Halle. Michelle was thorough, personable and friendly. Halle was also personable, knowledgeable and efficient. Brookland is equally as impressive on the inside as it is on the outside. I decided that day that I had to be a tenant there and here I am about to sign my lease. I look forward to a pleasant experience with Brookland. Will follow up this review in a year. read more

I moved into Brookland Press in Feb 2017. Brandon and Andrea helped me get through the process and they helped me tremendously. Brandon always reached out to me whenever I needed help or had questions. Brandon made Brookland Press feel like home. As my lease was ending, I didn't even consider moving to a different building, instead I moved up from the 3rd floor to the 6th floor. It was a smooth transition and it took no time at all, especially with the help of the staff. I would definitely recommend this building to friends. read more
