this is the best building building and best management company in DC. They are so kind and attentive. I have loved it here.

I have been at the harper since March 1st. In that time I have submitted maintenance requests for 4 different issues. One was for water underneath my washer which was discovered on a Saturday and they did not seem critical enough to someone come out there that day. Of the 4 requests (Washer, Icemaker, Drain stopper in bathtub, and light bulb) only two were done correctly (the washer and simple light bulb change). The drain was done incorrectly and I am awaiting the icemaker to be fixed.....again. And on that light bulb the light bulb was simply left on my bathroom counter. Yes a minor inconvenience but cmon you cant be bothered to simply clean up after yourself when fixing an issue? Very, very disappointing. You could chalk that up to an isolated incident as well however a screwdriver was left on the bar cart in my apartment as well. So not only is maintenance done incorrectly but various tools and trash are left around after the "completion" of the job. One of the biggest unknowns in any apartment complex is how the complex completes requests. The Harper is not good, period. I cannot recommend anyone to move in there as getting them to do their jobs correctly is basically a battle. There are many other options in the neighborhood and I would advise selecting one of those before signing a lease at The Harper. read more

I've been living here for almost a month and love it! When I moved-in, you could tell management understands what a person goes through when moving and provided a welcome kit to make a solid transition. It consisted of basic items, hand soap, paper towels, etc - but it made me think these guys went the extra mile to welcome me. The aspect I love the most is the events the building hosts. It provides a medium for community engagement. The rooftop has a breathtaking view of the city, wireless access, a club room with a tv and mini-bar, two grills, patio furniture, and a gym! There is also a business center in the lobby. The location speaks for itself - you are living in the heart of DC's nightlife. Trader Joe's is directly across the street. A couple dry cleaners are nearby. The U Street Metro is 2 blocks. So far, these guys have hit a grand slam with the place. read more

After leaving The Harper, I felt the need to update my review. I definitely took advantage of how responsive, helpful, friendly and competent the team was at this property, particularly when contrasted with my current apartment which is JBG owned. Although my unit at The Harper was too small for my needs during COVID, I would have loved nothing more than to extend my residency here. Thank you for leading by example of what it means to be an awesome place to live in DC, and I hope to find myself in another Keener Management property in the future. read more

I lived hear for two years and highly recommend it. Though it's right on 14th St., my room was exceptionally quiet. We couldn't hear any of the partying on the street, and could barely hear our neighbors. The rooftop has great views, and the management team does a great job keeping the common areas spotless. The management team was also always quick to respond to our maintenance requests. Luis was always kind when he came to help us with tasks ranging from changing the air filters to fixing the dishwasher. My main contact with the management company was with Jason. Jason is one of a kind. He welcomed me when I moved in, helped me in when I locked myself out, organized events for residents, etc. etc. He and the rest of the team (thanks Eugene!!) really made this feel like a home for me. read more

I lived in the Harper for 6 years in two different units and loved every second of it. I'd honestly never have moved if the building had 2 bedroom apartments in it, but we just needed more space. Aside from it being in a great location, the entire staff (from the front desk to maintenance) were incredibly helpful with everything from installing fixtures to fixing drains to putting lunches I forgot to take to work back in my fridge for me during the day. Jason, the property manager, was always available to answer any questions and I loved the rooftop views from the patio (and also from the well-located and equipped gym). Great apartments in amazing location. From the beginning of our leasing period until the very end, staff, such as Jason, were incredibly friendly, attentive, and respectful. We moved into another apartment in the same area just because we're hoping to get a pet; otherwise, the prices are competitive for the area, utilities are included (which is unheard of in other luxury apartments we looked at/at the place where we currently reside), and the community is lively. People are really friendly and it's full of young professionals who are excited to invite you to any events they host in the beautiful rooftop/penthouse area. Just a few cons, though: the community, while lively, can get a little loud at night when entering/exiting the elevators (which were right outside our unit). The walls shield noise from apartment to apartment, but the doors are a little permeable. More pros: always kept clean, very professional front desk security guards who greet every visitor and ensure they name who they're there for, incredibly accessible location and you can't beat the Trader Joe's across the street and Whole Foods just a few blocks away. I never had to wait more than a day to get a maintenance request fulfilled and properly handled. Overall an amazing place to live and I'd recommend it to anyone. read more

I can't say enough positive things about The Harper - and more importantly, its management. After living here a year, there really is no better property management organization (Keener Management) with better staff and a better community. Jason and his team are great - always responsive, and very professional. Any time I've had an issue (all minor), they're quick to respond, and maintenance is quick to fix it (usually same day). Tony and Eugene, the two friendly gentlemen at the front desk - who know everyone's name - are a truly bright spot when you come home from a long day at the office. While The Harper doesn't have the most amenities you'll ever find, it's perfect for me at the right price. While DC is generally pricey, considering that all utilities are paid for, it's the best deal in town - along with zero amenity fee or security deposit. Plus, you can grill on one of the outdoor grills and take in a view of the Capitol and meet neighbors on the benches. Oh, and everyone is super friendly (where do they find so many friendly people?!). Short of the long of it: live here. It's great. read more

Although I have not lived at The Harper for too long I feel it is important to contribute to the positive reviews. I was extremely apprehensive about moving to an apartment sight unseen. However, Jason from the leasing office took the time to take videos of two units for me so that I would be able to get a better feel for the layouts and views. The Harper is in a great, lively, young neighborhood with Trader Joes directly across the street as well as several restaurants, bars, nightclubs, convenient stores - and only 2 blocks from the Metro. While being on the small side (sofas under 80" suggested) the finishes are beautiful and having utilities included in the rent is incredible. The residents appear to be mainly young professionals (I haven't seen anyone over about 35) so it does tend to get a little loud on Friday and Saturday nights but this is the U Street Corridor so what do you expect? All in all this is an ideal place to live if you are looking for an upbeat neighborhood, beautifully appointed apartments, extremely friendly staff and close proximity to amenities and the Metro. read more

I've been living her almost a year and there is very little I can knock on this place. The rent is very reasonable for what you get. The apartments can run a bit small, but what they do with the space is amazing. I love my little 400sq ft studio. There are larger options, but you'll pay a tad more. The management and security are fantastic and the building, being only one year old, has little to no problems. The gym is adequate for the very basics, but there are a ton of other gyms close by to give you what you need. If you're looking to live in this area, this is a great place to live. Generally speaking the age range is late 20's, early 30's type professionals. There are some younger tenants, but everyone is very respectful (at least on my floor). No pets allowed, which is good and bad depending on what you're looking for. You won't regret moving in here. read more

I absolutely love living in this building. I have a lot of good things to say! The Apartments: I literally toured and analyzed about 15-20 different apartment complexes in the Logan Circle/14th street/U street/Shaw area. The Harper was our favorite in terms of price point, location, building features. The apartments are smaller and narrow (You're paying to live in this prime location) but they are designed to provide you max amount of storage space. Also a major thing I've noticed since living here - YOU CAN'T HEAR YOUR NEIGHBORS AT ALL. The apartments are sound proof which I've never experienced before. I don't hear any noise at all ,ever, from any neighbors unless they are in the hallway! It's amazing. Location: LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! Whether its bars, nightlife, food, exercise, this area is probably the best of all worlds combined. You have Trader Joes across the street for groceries and safeway/wholefoods within 15 minutes walk for other groceries. You have all the bars and nightlife within 1-2 blocks of you (Fainting Goat, Hawthorne, Lost Society, El Centro, Masa 14, Cloak and Dagger, Marvin, etc etc). You have the city's top rated restaurants within 15 minutes walk of you (Ghibellina, Le Diplomate, Barcelona, Duke's Grocery, Sakerum, etc) and some even literally next door (Compass Rose! The Smith! Lupo Verde! Tico!). You also have all the workout studios you could ever need including Soul Cycle, Orange Theory, Yoga etc. The Harper is also situated right on 14th street so while it is does get busy on weekends you're getting less of the drunken dirty U street traffic and more of the upscale cleanliness! Also, the windows are really thick and blocks out the noise unless you go stand up right next to them. I'm able to sleep even though I'm a light sleeper. The Building: The Harper is maintained as an upscale, very clean, and very new building! The rooftop offers great views, a nice but small gym, and two grills! Service: Jason is a really nice guy and applying/signing our lease was painless! The process was super easy and making rent payments and maintenance requests is done all online. It's all very efficient and easy. The best part - utilities are included, you get a small storage locker, and the front desk security guards are super nice and friendly for the most part. I was beyond satisfied with my studio at The Harper. I was pretty apprehensive about staying in a studio, but it was very spacious with a large bathroom, washer/dryer in unit, plenty of closet space and floor to ceiling windows. Not to mention the location - cant be beat! read more

The Harper is an amazing apartment complex! My daughter lives in a jr studio which has been ideal! May seem small but it isn't and she has it very styled and decorated! The location is perfect, next to restaurants and across the street from Trader Joe's. Shopping and gyms close by. 2 mile walk to "The Mall" - museums and monuments. The building has amazing amenities- great rooftop, gym and the building is maintained so well! Jason, the property manager is very responsive although there haven't been any issues. Lived here for a little over a year and only had great experiences! Management is very professional, helpful, and responsive. The building was always very clean and safe, security is at the desk 24/7. My transition both in and out of The Harper were smooth, which is when I've had issues in the past with other buildings. I've lived in The Harper for the better part of a year and wouldn't trade my apartment for anything else in DC. For the price, it's unrivaled; the location is unbeatable. I'd be lying if I didn't admit that the Trader Joe's across the street was one of the main reasons I moved in here. Man am I glad I let my stomach do the thinking! I have a view of 14th Street, which means I have front-row seats to some of the best people-watching in DC. I consistently catch myself shaking my head in appreciation whenever I see a presidential motorcade or a parade go by. Again, the location can't be beat. Utilities are included in the price, there are currently no move-in fees, apartments are acoustically well-insulated from one another, maintenance requests are literally handled same-day, the view from the gym/rooftop is one of the best in the city, security is excellent, and the square footage of each apartment is really well-utilized. The building was built in 2014, so it's pretty new. The staff here are great: Jason (the property manager) is incredibly pleasant and was really accommodating when I moved in; Tony and Eugene (doormen) are the best of the best; and everyone else has been very friendly. Tony and Eugene seem to know everyone by name and unflinchingly remember who has a package waiting for them - if I'm out of town for 10 days, they still somehow remember. All other residents (mostly young professionals in their 20s-mid 30s) I've met have been awesome and really respectful of one another. There are only a few nits I can pick. The windows along 14th Street let in some street noise on the weekends (impossible to mitigate, considering it's 14th Street...); get a white noise machine and you'll be set. The doors on apartments can let in some sound too, so I suggest not choosing an apartment close to the elevators (which can get a little loud on weekends). I really feel that no other place in this area has the character and the class of The Harper - hoping to stay here for a while! read more

I have nothing but great things to say about The Harper. I have been living here since October 2016. It is by far the best high end apartment building in the area. The staff is unbelievably friendly and helpful (any maintenance requests - and there aren't many because the building is well constructed - are frequently handled same day); the residents are friendly and respectful of each other; there are no hidden fees or costs - everything is included except for cable/internet unlike A LOT of buildings in this area; there is an awesome fitness center on the top floor with floor to ceiling windows (most places have gyms in the basement or no gym at all); the location is unbeatable in terms of proximity to everything you need-- groceries (Trader Joe's is across the street), restaurants, shopping, dry cleaners, and the subway. Jason is fantastic and does a great job of fostering a sense of community among residents. If I could give the Harper more than five stars I would! read more
