I can't talk this place up enough! The food is incredible, imaginative, & absolutely delicious. Chef Whitney brought her A-game and it really shows with every bite. Kha' Azra was our bartender & every suggestion she made was spot on. The vibe is stellar & the staff was all super nice. Will 1000% be back, such an incredible experience! read more

Went to Bronzeville Winery for the first time yesterday for Father's Day brunch with the hubby and kids. Everything about this restaurant is excellent! It's a beautiful space and there was a DJ spinning some great tunes. We had a reservation so were seated right away. The food was beyond great--I mean like, really great. You could taste the quality ingredients and all was seasoned to perfection. The service was wonderful--they even gave us complimentary champagne for Father's Day--classy touch. Even the bathrooms are cute! Definitely worthwhile. Will be back and thinking of joining their wine club! read more

The food was delicious! Our server was delightful and funny and made us feel right at home! The only thing is a dessert was brought to our table & a server saying we ordered it, when we had not ordered it. A server, not the one we had, was like " it supposed to come to your tableI". So she leaves it there... we ate it and when I looked at the bill, it was added.. Since we ate it we didn't dispute it. It almost felt like someone else sending you a drink and then the bar tender sending you a bill for the drink you didn't order. But overall it's a great place to try! It's beautifully designed, black owned and if you're in the neighborhood you should try it. I'll be back for sure read more

What a wonderful place! Elegant surroundings and top notch food! Absolutely LOVED IT and can't wait to return. THIS is the kinds of business and business owner that Hyde Park/Bronzeville should be welcoming - upscale and perfectly-suited to the clientele of this area. Fabulous - exceeded my expectations. read more

Went here for my mothers 58th birthday yesterday and the experience was great. I'd like to thank Safia for allowing our party to sit without any reservations. They were pretty busy, but found a slot to squeeze us in. Made our experience even better. She made it happen!!! Also, thank our server, Gabriella, she was awesome. Great personality and great customer service. Even provided a few off the menu options for cocktails. Highly recommended. read more

The food, the service the vibe all excellent !!! Strongly recommend the red snapper. They only negative is the music was a little loud.

We absolutely love the restaurant and vibe. Amazing every time! We are still trying to understand how watermelon steak taste just like steak. Everything was perfect! read more

Loved this place, the service, the food, the staff and the entire experience. Go, you won't be disappointed.

Haven't gone yet but the buzz is phenomenal ppl have been wanting for something like this in the black community for a long time?! Much overdo... Kudos to the owners hard work pays off!! read more

I tried so hard to love this place because I know they are BLACK OWNED. Being a 30something year old black woman, I love to visit black owned restaurants and celebrate them....but this place, I could not. The ambiance is amazing, the music is great, the vibe is great, the drinks are strong, but that's where it starts and stops. We did NOT have a reservation so when the hostess said we had to wait an hr and 30 minutes on a Thursday (around 6:30pm) we were upset, but understanding because we knew we didn't make a reservation and we knew we could order drinks at the bar. Me and my girls ordered a few drinks at the bar (the special Old Fashioned, a Lemon Drop, and two glasses of sweet red wine) and the service was great. The drinks were strong and they tasted really good. We were sitting at the bar and ordered drinks for 2 hours and 15 min before we were seated to dine in. We were frustrated, but charged it to the fact that we didn't make reservations. When we finally got the opportunity to order food, we had to wait another hour just to get our food. Three out of 4 of us ordered mac and cheese as as side to our Red Snapper entre. We got the Mac and Cheese about 30 min before our fish came out, it was very salty. When we got the fish it was salty as well, and the kale tasted like it was deep fried in oil. I didn't like it at all. My friend even had to send her Snapper back and ask for one that wasn't so salty. We were extremely irritated and even spoke to the snarky manager who blamed the 3 hr+ wait on the fact that we didn't make a reservation (I didn't get her name). They gave a free drink to each of us at our table since we were inconvenienced the entire night. Overall the restaurant was OK. The hostess and the bartenders were GREAT, the vibe was nice but the wait was extremely long and the food was overly salted. Instead of us waiting over 3 hours to eat, I would have felt better if they would have told us we'd have to come back another time. I was really disappointed in this place. Long story short, make a reservation and take your blood pressure meds before eating here. read more

Loved every second of the experience! We had the best waitress, B, and she was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine. The food and atmosphere was amazing, and it's good to be in a Black owned space! read more

For starters, the restaurant vibe is nice. Having a live DJ, dimming the lights while you are talking and dining, is a nice touch. Cudos Marc Davis. The service was not so nice. Upon entering the restaurant, no greeter. The staff was too busy to acknowledge us standing at the door. No, it wasn't a full house if you were wondering. Yes, we had reservations if you were also wondering. When the hostess finally approached us a few minutes later of us looking around, we were ushered to the bar. I immediately said, "Let me calm down," the night is just getting started. The Bar-Star immediately served us water and gave us menus to look from. We ordered 2 glasses of wine while we waited for our table and figured out what we wanted to try from the menu. We were instructed to either pay now for our drinks or at our table. We paid at the bar while we waited and were immediately hit with a 20% gratuity for two. Sometime later, we were taken to our table and sat unattended for 30 minutes, having small talk amongst ourselves before we were again served water. We sat another 30 minutes or so before a young lady, who wasn't our waitress, came over to take our order. We received our food on hot plates. Great. The portions were small, tastfuly decorated, and tasted pretty good. Now, the bill. Would you believe it has another 20% gratuity added. Really? 2 glasses of wine, 2 small entrees equals $120 bill for a $70 meal. I recommend sitting outside with a glass of wine if the weather permits. The price of this 1/2 meal was a bit much. We're on the fence about returning. read more

We went for brunch after church on 6/30/24. I originally made the reservation for 12pm but the next day I cancelled and rescheduled for 11:30 am. I received email confirmation that the original reservation had been cancelled and confirmed the new time. When we arrived at the restaurant the hostess said our reservation had been cancelled and she didn't see a new reservation. I proceeded to show her the text I had received the night before confirming the reservation and at that moment the owner Susan stepped up and said we didn't have a reservation but then said oh I'm sorry we were on the wrong screen but she was rude and abrupt. We were seated and placed our order, we all decided to try the shrimp and grits which turned out the be mediocre at best. They weren't seasoned and when we asked the waiter for salt and pepper he had to bring it in a little dish as they do not provide salt and pepper on the tables. This is not a place I would try again just based on the encounter with the owner. And after we got our meals she had the nerve to come to our table and ask if everything was good. I wanted to tell her no let's start with your attitude but my mother told me to be polite, hence forth this review. All and all Bronzeville Winery is a hard NO for me. read more

OMG the food is delicious but the best was the dessert. The apple cobbler. Amazing in so many levels.

First time in Chicago and this was a great experience. The service was excellent, thank you Sarah! I will visit again.

I had the pleasure of dining in at Bronzeville Winery with a good friend of mine and we had a ball! First off, as soon as we entered the restaurant, we were greeted warmly by the staff & got a complimentary order of Sweet Potato Ribbons with a delicious dipping sauce. The Brussel Sprouts and Watermelon Steak were my favorites but the Hummus was also the best hummus I've ever tasted in my life. The drinks were strong but tasty, the energy was amazing, and the restaurant itself is so aesthetically pleasing. Chef Whitney came over to our table to introduce herself and shake our hands which was so thoughtful. She checked on us a couple times throughout our experience. I enjoyed her as much as the food lol. Overall, we had a perfect night & will be back to try the steak next! read more

Hubby and I have ventured to Bronzeville Winery a couple of times for drinks at the bar and enjoyed ourselves. We received an email promoting live music on a Wednesday evening and so I made reservations for dinner. The music (the solo artist) was wonderful! Beautiful voice! The food and service not so much. It took us over 20 minutes to receive our cocktail and a glass of wine. The shrimp was absolutely amazing and was served to us super fast! The herbed chicken took another 40 minutes or so to be served to our table and it was bland, soupy (watery), had no fingerling potatoes as noted on the menu and was served with a bunch of soft brussel sprouts that wasn't on the menu. It was not good at all. A woman sitting at a table next to us had the duck and she said she couldn't even chew it. She had to get something else to eat. Our waiter was M.I.A. most of the evening and I noted to hubby we ain't giving him a good tip for not being present. So I was shocked when we received the check and the restaurant demands 20% automatic tip for all parties, even our party of two. The server did not deserve it at all. I always tip well, but how can you expect your customers to pay a good tip for bad service. It's really unfair. I can see if we were party of 8 people, even 6. But a party of two?!?! And when we told our waiter the chicken wasn't that great, he just laughed, instead of asking us what he can do to make it right?!? Bronzeville Winery, we won't be back for dinner! read more

We had a lovely dinner on the outdoor patio. The setting was perfect with plantings between the tables providing private outdoor dining rooms. The hostess was pleasant and welcoming as she showed us to our table. Our server, Bea, blew us away with her knowledge of the menu and wine offerings. She made hummus sound delicious, and it was. Who knew? We will ask for her on our next visit. Our entrees of grilled shrimp salad, salmon, and steak burger were expertly prepared and delicious. We couldn't resist key lime pie and pecan pie so those were taken to go. All this and valet parking five blocks from my home. What's not to like? My new favorite place. Y'all Come! read more

I want to love this restaurant but there's always a glitch that take place. I have eaten dinner twice at this establishment. My first experience service was great, nice ambiance little loud but I was able to carry on a conversation with my friend. I ordered, cod fritter absolutely delicious, and Mac and cheese w/lobster which looked Devine until I dived into it, Ugh! Very salty as if someone had drop the salt container into my Mac&cheese I didn't eat it the waitress took of off my bill (I didn't complaint about the Mac&Cheese). Over all that evening was not a bad experience. My second trip to Bronzeville Winery. I made reservations had to wait about 10min for a table, no problem. This night they had a live band, the band was phenomenal. Service was absolutely terrible, my waitress just was not focus on her job or just didn't give a damn. She introduced herself, ask did I want tap water or seltzer water? I didn't see her again until the manager came with water that was 15mins later. I ordered Cesar salad with grilled shrimp and fries, I am assuming they ran out of Romain lettuce, because my Cesar salad was made with spinach and arugula. The menu; Cesar salad Romain Lettuce, I was never informed they was out of Romain lettuce I ate the salad. I watch other waiter and waitress hustling and busting their tables, as I looked around for my waitress. I finally grab the waitress and ask for the bill, I usually don't really look over the bill, this one I did, I was charged $38.00 for one glass (4oz) of wine. I flag her down again, between her dancing, and singing from a far with the band. I asked, one glass of wine is $38.00? She said oh, you have the wrong bill, not true everything else on the bill was what I ordered but that $38.00 glass of wine, she amended the bill. I will not be back anytime soon. read more

I went here to celebrate a friend's birthday. I sat down and was ignored completely. I was thinking maybe it was because I was early. Someone was on my right and left, but not one server checked to see had I been taken care of. I had to initiate conversation with someone to ask was anyone working in my area. I actually sent a message regarding my experience. I never received a response. This is unacceptable. Poor service will definitely motivate me to spend my money elsewhere. read more

Definitely would not go back. We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation time, apps finally came out about 45 minutes after placing the order. The service needs to improve significantly. I understand there's staffing issues, but at the same time, the restaurant can limit their capacity to keep up with the orders. We ended up cancelling our dinner since nothing came out (about 1.5 hours after seating). It wasn't just us. Several tables next to us also cancelled their orders and left. I appreciate our waiter and the manager speaking to us and apologizing. On a positive note, drinks were amazing and the apps that came out - delicious. She did take 30% off our final bill which I appreciate. Free street parking is a plus also. read more

A bit pricey, but worth the service, ambiance and attention. The lobster Mac is off the charts!

I absolutely love this location. There's always parking nearby; the motif and ornate setting are refreshing; the host, waiters, and waitresses have a real positive vibe; the wine is delicious; and there's always nice jazz music playing, sometimes live. The seafood gnocchi is delicious. Every time I dine here, I have a wonderful time. read more

Our experience started off fantastic . Our bar server was polite and we got our food and drinks in a timely fashion . I enjoyed my meal but the night ended with our party being insulted by one of your staff members . We observed one of your staff members (woman , fair skinned , large dreads) come behind the bar , my brother pointed out to her hey one of your dreads is sticking out of your bun . He was with his sisters he knows how women can be about hair being out of place so he simply told her, her hair was out of her bun . This woman who works for you responded with the most disrespectful offensive comments and I quote her words " Well is my hair in your food ? Does it bother you ? Because even with it sticking out my hair still looks better than everyone in this place . But I appreciate you letting me know ." Rolls eyes and walks away. It was the most ignorant thing I've ever seen especially after such a light hearted moment . We mentioned it to our server who said she's not normally like that but that doesn't help the situation. It was our first time dining there and we were so excited to check it out ! Unfortunately we will not be recommending this place or coming back because of the hostile environment created by one of your staff members. read more
